Most bags you can at least choose the colour hardware you want but their bespoke totes you can customise leather/handle colours and hardware. Leather is super lovely and soft too!

Ohhh Oroton. Mums would have Oroton, daughters would have Mimco. When online shopping and buying from overseas took off, Oroton were ill prepared. Big fish in a small sea became small fish in a big sea. They ditched their older customers to try and snag the younger crowd but the styles were too mature and prices too high. Their leather was beautiful but I haven’t looked their way for about 15 years. I still have an old, long purse in a drawer somewhere. The two after that I’ve never heard of. Mimco are great for daily/weekend bags.

Ashamed to say I hadn’t heard of the other brands until you mentioned them 😅. I love the fruit charms and that fuchsia colour from MaisondeSabre, very tempted to get something! Hhahaha you can't possibly know all the brands out there even if they're from Australia. The fruit charms are freaking adorable. If they start coming out with corgis....i'll be in trouble
I have the Margot mini bag and it's great for running errands when you just need your keys, card case etc. Lovely quality and useful as an airport bag for a passport, glasses, lip balm etc. Oroton is a heritage brand in Australia and they're currently producing some lovely designs.

Deals and dills! Do you know of a good proxy buying service for Australia? Or any ideas for buying Oroton at Australian pricing? They seem to increase US pricing and outlet pricing is non-existent if your location settings show in the US. MLS fruit charms are so cute! I have definitely been tempted! And love that vibrant hot pink shade!

My experience with The Horse Clementine bag in Oat colour was not like most. I received a bag that smelled really strong like plastic chemical. Then found a whole small group of people also said the same thing on their social and Reddit. The Horse social media handler deletes all comments about the bag smelling like chemical or plastic almost immediately. Found them doing it at least twice! Upon further inspection, I found that my bag wasn’t constructed with the leather they claimed to have made it in. I literally had to flip the ‘leather’ part of the bag and compared it with the leather sample tab the bag came with. The bottom sides/under layer do not match. Come to find out, me and others who have the same chemical plastic experience with the bag have Clementine that was made with a different material. While the ones that have the bag in black and coffee colour, their bags smell and feel exactly like leather. Also matches the leather tab they sent with. I can’t really vouch for The Horse AU… But I’ve yet to hear negative things about Oroton so far.

I noticed some of those people who had a chemical smell said they aired their bags for a week or so and the smell went away. Is yours still there? I’m waiting for my pre-order which is black with gold hardware, hope it doesn’t smell.

Yes the bag still smells of the chemical plastic-ky smell… And the bag was definitely not constructed with the same materials as they claimed. However, the ones that have said the leather smells and feels like amazing leather… they said their bag was made of the same material all throughout. I’m just an honest consumer, telling what I’ve went through. Hope that helps. And truly hope your experience will be better :)
The horse clementine just arrived at my house a day early. I got taupe color and the leather smells fantastic not plastic and the quality is really nice, it's thick but buttery soft. Im actually really shocked how nice the feel is. it's just like the sample hang tag they provided. Im wondering if they have to give the leather more treatment/ processing/ thicker paint finishing to achieve the lighter Oat color way and that's why people are having a negative experience with Oat?

Come to find out, me and others who have the same chemical plastic experience with the bag have Clementine that was made with a different material. I can’t really vouch for The Horse AU… But I’ve yet to hear negative things about Oroton so far.
