Man, thank you so much. We had alternator trouble, and had to replace it with the battery, and when we turned the tlx back on, the radio and navigation required 2 different codes! The dealer wanted 200 bucks just to get the serial number that I just didn't have. Thank you!

I have an 06 Acura TL and none of these worked for me. If you open the glove box there's a 4 didgit pin enter that, then your navigation will come on but no radio. There will be a 5 digit PIN where you found the 4 digit code, enter that and BAM let there be sound! Thanks for the help!
we have the codes but there is a pin I am assuming the previous owner put in .. we bought it used so is there a way to override that and reset the pin..the pin is like a personal pin i think they put in
For my radio code, I have 4 numbers and a letter b. The scroll only lets you put 1 thru 6, so how do you put the letter b? Now I’m locked out bc since it’s only 6 numbers, I tried each number for the last number. The navigation was easy and I got that working. I’m planning to unplug the battery for 5 mins. to see if it’ll unlock. But I still have the letter b to figure out. I also tried not putting in the b and that didn’t work either. This is a pain in the butt and you should be able to change whatever, if you have the key.

Thanks for offering this help, George, but I just got a used 2015 RDX. There is no MENU button to get the nav serial #, and pushing 1 and 6 and PWR doesn't do anything when I try to get the radio serial #. Do your tricks not apply to recent models?

You might have a stocker in a glove box

George, do you know how to obtain the SERIAL NUMBER for a 2000 TL 3.2 Vehicle? I tried to retrieve it the way you suggested in the video, but I couldn't get the info (serial number). Back in 2000 the electronic (display) panel was quite different than the models of today (March 2019). When I purchased my vehicle from the dealership (back in 2000) I was given only ONE code on a sticker (it turns out this 5 digit code is "only" for the RADIO). It works, but several years ago I learned that I was supposed to have received a 4 digit code & Serial Number for my vehicle's Navigation System. However, I didn't receive a "separate" 4 digit code or serial number at the time of purchase for the Navigation System. I've searched through ALL my ORIGINAL paperwork and there isn't any information pertaining to the NAVIGATION (4 digit code or Serial Number). It may be a possibility that the dealer forgot to "include" the pertinent info card with my paperwork that day. I recall him being in a rush to close the deal because it was a banner year for Acura Sales in '2000 I.e. people were waiting to get their hands on the Acura TL (at that particular dealership). Since my battery didn't need replacing for about 3 yrs.-4yrs. (The Navigation code/Serial code NEVER came up) and since the 5-digit code that I received was working...it NEVER entered my mind that I would require another code to get the ve Navigation to work! OH, THE RUB! I took my vehicle to an Acura dealer for its routine maintenance check-up (according to the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual), but to my dismay, I learned that I would need another CODE to get the NAVIGATION to turn back on. I also learned that each year I would have to pay to get an "update" for the Navigation DVD! And the Navigation DVD is expensive...I believe Acura quoted me a "discounted" price of $199.00 (something like that). OUCH!!! So, I started using my portable GPS in the car, along with my mobile phone. It was FREE to use these items and it helped me stay within my household budget (there isn't a fee to "update" every year with these with portable GPS and mobile phone apps). :-D GETTING BACK TO THE POINT: When the Acura Service Tech. asked me for the CODE (I told him I never received the 4 digit code...only a five digit code. So, then he asked for the SERIAL NUMBER, which would allow him to retrieve my code)...I politely gave him my VIN. Number. He immediately let me know that these numbers were NOT the SAME thing! I explained to him that I never received a "serial number or code" for the Navigation System...and that I only received "ONE" five digit code (I learned that the five digit code was for the RADIO only). WHAT? I was so confused! :-O Then he continued to quote me outrageous prices to retrieve the serial number for my navigation system. The price was so expensive that I left the dealership feeling like I had been HAD! I.e. Until you offered advice on how to get the serial number in your UA-cam TUTORIAL! I have owned this newly purchased vehicle since 2000...it is 19 yrs. young...it has about 68,000 miles on it (that reflects how often I drive). My friends call me a SUNDAY driver! lol The mileage is sort of low for 19 years because most of the time I go places with m husband in his vehicle; therefore, I didn't NEED to use the Acura a lot. PLUS, sometimes, I use public transportation, as well. Q: If you can tell me "HOW" to retrieve the code for "2000" Acura TL 3.2 I sure would appreciate it. I await your reply!

Press and hold 1&6 button then while holding press power button that will give you a serial number. Write it down call acura parts dep give them your code they will decode it for you

Great video, but it doesn't completely apply to the newest radios (My 2016 TLX as an example). For those, you need to press "Nav/Menu/Back" to get to the menus where the information can be found.
FOR THOSE UNLUCKY ONES WHO CANT FIND THE STICKER WITH THE CODES IN THEIR VEHICLE BUT WHERE ABLE TO RETRIEVE THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM SERIAL AND RADIO SERIAL NUMBERS , HERE IS ACURA /HONDA LINK FOR YOUR CODES , I JUST GOT MINES ..EJOY ;) radio-navicode.acura.com
For navi you press down menu and zoom down. Not map, menu and cancel. After that you go to navi ECU and at the bottom you got the serial code and give that to the person on the phone and they'll give you the 4 digit code for the navi. And for the radio you turn off the radio and press down 1,6 and power button for a few second and write down the 8 digit code that pops up where the radio usually is and give that to the person on the phone and you'll get a 5 digit code for it. And boom all done. All should be at no charge. DO NOT TAKE IT IN TO ACURA AND GET CHARGED. THIS IS ALL FREE and should be free.
I tried this and it didn't work for me. The message "Please Check Disk", or whatever it is, never went away, and I held the buttons for far more than 10 seconds.

You call your local acura dealer parts department tell them you need navigation code and give them your serial number and over the phone they will give it 2 you
I got my radio to give the Serial Number but in a little different way but heres how i did it First turn the key to ACC position Make sure radio is off , then hold 1 and 6 together for 3 or more seconds then press the power button
I have the same car. I held down the 1 and 6 and the power button with the key on and it popped right up. Just enter the code into the Honda site with no letters.

All i can say is disconnect battery for 5 min or so. Let the sytem reset.
you have to hold the Menu and down arrow (zoom) at the same time first.

Yes. Your dvd maps disc might scratched or dirty if that is not the case then tour dvd reader unit that is in rear right side of yours trunk is shot.

Press and hold 1&6 button then while holding press power button that will give you a serial number. Write it down call acura parts dep give them your code they will decode it for you
Mine says “out of service area” any ideas

Great video, but it doesn't completely apply to the newest radios (My 2016 TLX as an example). For those, you need to press "Nav/Menu/Back" to get to the menus where the information can be found.

Ok, so I got the code, but is a 5 digits code , and the one the screen ask for is 4 digits codes ??? What is wrong with it ?
Tryed on my 05 TL! Nothing happened expect the codes and there not matching up
All u gotta do is get under the hood and take off the lid to the fuse box by the battery get the 5 digit number and put that in boom. That's it. Easy

This is for qualified technicians not random people. If done wrong you can lock up the system.

Ether severely scratch dvd or dvd rom reader is bad
For navi you press down menu and zoom down. Not map, menu and cancel. After that you go to navi ECU and at the bottom you got the serial code and give that to the person on the phone and they'll give you the 4 digit code for the navi. And for the radio you turn off the radio and press down 1,6 and power button for a few second and write down the 8 digit code that pops up where the radio usually is and give that to the person on the phone and you'll get a 5 digit code for it. And boom all done. All should be at no charge. DO NOT TAKE IT IN TO ACURA AND GET CHARGED. THIS IS ALL FREE and should be free.

I only got one code and it unlocked my radio but my navigation still says enter code

I tried this and it didn't work for me. The message "Please Check Disk", or whatever it is, never went away, and I held the buttons for far more than 10 seconds.
Disconnect your battery for 2 min or so then try it again it will work
It taking a while to give me the code I tried it on my 08 tl. Still not getting it

You call your local acura dealer parts department tell them you need navigation code and give them your serial number and over the phone they will give it 2 you
The radio works, but the navigation didn’t work when I tried
I got my radio to give the Serial Number but in a little different way but heres how i did it
First turn the key to ACC position Make sure radio is off , then hold 1 and 6 together for 3 or more seconds then press the power button
I did exactly the same thing and got my code but it’s got 8 digits and it’s got a 0,7 and 9 in the code which isn’t on the radio

I have the same car. I held down the 1 and 6 and the power button with the key on and it popped right up. Just enter the code into the Honda site with no letters.
