I love Tai Chi especially Chen Style but hate running. Although I have always wanted to be able to run for the Cardio benefits and as a great way to explore basic meditative states. I have just purchased a copy of Danny's book which is what lead me to this video. I genuinely feel that this form of running will provide me with a greater understanding of Chi energy and will provide the work out to compliment my Taiji, open meridians and increase my cardio fitness. Just need to start implementing.
Get his book. I don't know much about Chi but I do know physics, and in that regard the principles he advocates are sound. Whether you believe that there is some reality to the Chi business or not, the techniques he develops allow you to focus on your form and improve your running. It does require a bit of a commitment: it took me something like two months and a lot of brainpower to become comfortable with the new running form. However, it did eliminate my knee pain and boosted my performance.
I was reading where, in order to access one's vast, unlimited pool of "Chi," one also had to unlock something that translates as, I BELIEVE, "Cha-go" or "ca-go?" Then, and only then, one may learn how to focus on the "Sty" which leads to the "le" boundary. If done correctly, one may move on to the Roman practice of "Pis," which is sometimes spelled "Piz." This allows the Chi to engulf one's "za" center. If this is all done IN ORDER, when one then weaves the different ideas together, after a workout you will see how you now have a fulfilling "Chi-ca-go-Sty-le-Piz-za." It is very refreshing, and adds to a feeling of fullness. Yes, to enrich one's soul, one must also nourish one's body. So remember, after every workout, get a "Chicago Style Pizza." YUM!
reading the book now and i dont think its marketing mumbo jumbo to be honest.... noticed small improvements already in my running and im only 50 or 60 pages in, by using some of his ideas
@toby099 you must not be rageful, it will only interfere with your running technique that requires the harnessing of the energies of gaia and universal symbiosis lol..
so? it's all the same, just different words: chi, yoga, force. the ideas just come from different sources: china, india, star wars. I do yoga, and I run. And what I learned watching Danny's Chi Running video was awesome. He's not a sell out. I suspect you're just an angry person. Do more Qi, yoga, jedi training, whatever... it might help.
Its just fact. If you want to increase your speed, giving someone your money for their book and running like a plank isn't the way forward, but carry on. For those that are serious, practice the techniques of atheletes not gimmick salesmen.
allignment, needle and cotton, relax, central axis, chi, don't stay upright, let yourself fall forward and let gravity do the work??!! no wonder the guy loos so puny and unhealthy!!if you want to relax and be effortless then stay at hope and get a bath. If you want effective running the run like a champ, see below michael johnson 200m world record, he's bolt upright, theory blown!!
Excellent. It makes complete sense, especially the "needle in the cotton" and "partnering with gravity". Thanks for posting. Please post more.
Danny Dreyer's technique is awesome! Run smarter rather than harder.
