Ovals have definitely been difficult for me. I think this will help tremendously, thanks!
To all the other newbies, no matter how bad your lettering looks in the beginning, practice does help tremendously! I was absolutely amazed the first time I was able to produce a decent row of ovals that actually looked like brush lettering! *Another tip that helped me:* review your work after each line. Look at each stroke or letter and critique it. Determine where you went wrong and imagine yourself making the necessary corrections. Then start on your next line applying the corrections. Repeat. This will increase your skill exponentially.
When I started practicing brush lettering, I thought the *repetition* alone was the key. I thought the goal was to do as many strokes as possible until the muscle memory kicked in. That may work, I don’t know, but reviewing, critiquing, and correcting your work, line by line, will produce results a lot faster.

This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for, for weeks now. You are an excellent teacher with this. So, excited to continue now. Was getting discouraged in the tutorals I was watching, because they go to fast, or don't explain the pressure needed, and details that YOU describe. Just excellent.

I found these pens in my sewing room, I don’t know how many years I have had them. I would just like to tell everyone that out of several brands of markers that I own, Kelly Creates pens are still juicy and useable. Quite happy !

I enjoy looking at your beautiful strokes! So therapeutic! I'm working on my brush letter C which is extremely hard for me to write and transit smoothly especially at the beginning of the stroke... Wondering if the issue is with the way I hold the brush pen or the angle. I'm really not good with writing big letters.

haha! I'm pretty critical of my mistakes when I'm filming. Good luck! Perfection isn't important...just enjoy writing pretty letters.
kellycreates i started with the beginning strokes and I think it’s horrible. But, practice make perfect right? But for how long would I need to practice these strokes before I can start the alphabet?
Kelly, I am lefty and my hand shakes a little bit when I am practicing. However, as you said, Ovals are challenging 🤔

I saw another teach the down stroke is heavy the upstroke is light.
How do you get the darker strokes with a fine pen is there a technique to it?
