- Catching surf perch on a rooster spinner - something I usually don't do, but I wanted to give you an alternative to using bait.

Very cool. Not enough people use reaction lures for surf perch up here. I’d like to experiment with a few different kinds as well

You'll come out way ahead if you buy parts in bulk, and a spinner 'wire former' to assemble them. Plus, every one you make will be custom, with those good hooks (instead of replacing a hook you already paid for, AKA 'paying twice'). It's super easy/cheap to make one, with a wire former.

Ha ha, what a stringer to finish on.
I could be full of it, but I think the trebles cause more problems than they fix. I always feel like the fish stay hooked better on good, sharp single hooks.

I was at that same beach last Saturday, caught a few redtails and got to see several whales pass by just outside the breakers. It's always fun at the Oregon coast. Thanks for the vid and the idea to try some rooster tails.

Thank You, PK! Your ideas really work, I've tried the Fire Tiger at the coast and caught quite a few redtail perch. I also tried some Calissa lure Minow 110mm it was an excellent choice too.

If fish keep coming off of spinners, switch those hooks out to Gamakatsu brand (very sharp and durable).

Hey PK, what about a 1oz kastmaster tied directly to main line(no dropper loop) think they would take it? Maybe, give it a try next time out. Be an interesting experiment 🤔

You should try to release those young salmon without touching them. You scrubbed a lot of scales off of that fish.

Switch out the treble hooks for single inline hooks! You really hurt fish when trying to release... Switch out all treble hooks Please!!!
If it's legal, and I'm trying to eat, I'll always use trebel over a single. I'm trying to catch not fish...
