Done the same thing when my tyres were finished,I think every driver should do these kind of exercise at the end of every set of tires,it makes You build confidence on pushing the enveloppe ,build reflexes and its fun !
I can assure you that this hasn't been speeded up :) And in my opinion everyone can move their hands as fast as me. Remember that Practise makes perfect... and when you have to shift gears in half a second you really need to move fast, the hand and right foot too because you have to let out the throttle in the precise moment while pushing/pulling the gear lever, otherwise gears won't engage. Thanks for watching ;)
guy posts video for a bit of fun, can clearly see he's not in a "race situation" and is, you know "having fun" and then all the armchair experts come along to voice their opinion because they also happen to drive a kart and have an issue with someone doing something different to what they would do. fucking hilarious hurrrr durrrr muh racing lines and muh traction
Watch my new video (video response) for those who don't understand that in this vid I was just driving sideways for fun. In the new video I'm driving with the same old, bald and hard tyres, but sliding less with the purpouse of going faster. Thanks again for watching ;) Hope you enjoy new vid!
I'm not going to upload more karting videos :( I finally sold my kart. But if you take that video with you driving with your feet, please send it to me :P Thanks for your comment, and enjoy your new kart!
+QuadRacingVids i disagree. the ultimate vehicle control is still the ability to find extra grip and take the corner faster then the rest of the field, and that wins you races. it doesnt take much skill to step on the throttle early coming out of a turn, spin the tires with a 125cc shifter, and counter-steer into the tale-whip, even though it is really fun. also does improve your driving ability by sharpening the reflexes, so i would do it with every old set of tires after you done racing on them, that is if you race
+MrAeroHD technically, drifting is a controlled loss of traction. it's not difficult to have a 125CC shifter like that fishtailing about a track... it is, however, slower to drift than feed into a bend since you're wasting most of your momentum going sideways in a drift, where feeding in, you have all the traction, full control over the turn and most important, you're much more forward facing and lose less momentum in the bend... I'll agree though, keeping a drift long enough in a corner does take some control and skill with throttle and steering... I've had a kart in a near millimetre perfect drift on a narrow track before (mind you, it was a fluke!) and it added 0.5 seconds to my time on that lap... so I just kept a normal corner feed in and hammered it on the straights... (well... as much as a little Briggs 6HP Sodi kart can go XD)
fast shifting down and braking while turning the steering wheel. The clutch is in the left hand, behind the sterring wheel, but it's not necessary to shift using it. Thanks for your comment ;)
That looks like so much fun!! I'm starting my first season this year and this winter I tested my Gokart in the snow, with slicks, and it's easily the best fun I've ever had! :D
people like you are winners because you push every limit you find and when u break it u tone it down just a hair (otherwise u spin out again) ........ you sir are a badass
Fantastic driving! What an enjoyable ride. Don't be too modest, you're a skilled pilot! I have to laugh at some of the comments. People don't realise how physical it is to drive a (proper) kart, and a shifter kart is a REAL handful! Nice job.
Dave Collins... nicely said...Unless you have ever been in the seat of one of these little beasts you shouldn't open your mouth. To those who haven't..These things don't have a suspension so you are bouncing around in the seat with every bump. Just keeping your eyes on the track from bouncing around is a starter...after that keeping your feet firmly on the foot pedals....notice that when he hits a bump you can hear the intermittent throttle. Like I said... don't bad mouth it unless you've sat in one...
Now, THAT is how you drive a shifter kart.. not like the rest of these wannabe kids put-putting around on these things. Excellent video, and huge nads amigo.
It depends of the engine and the track, but you're right, sliding arround it's not the fastest way of driving. If you are driving a shifter kart you can shift down a gear so you keep the engine in high revs, then find the balance between throttle and lack of grip. What I do is slide a bit before the apex of the corner and then let the kart slide neutral undesteer till I reach the exit point (then the kart is already straight and ready to full throttle). Hope it helps :) Thanks for watching
great driving,,was you knocking it down the gears to lock the back end up to get it sliding?and wheres the clutch?its bloody quick...I was getting dizzy there..
All you haters don't actually realise the skill involved in drifting a kart. The driver knows its not the fastest way around the track, he's just having a good time. Wish that was me.
well,i ran into some problems with mine unfortunately(needs some repairing) but i promise ill upload some this summer :D,by the way the drifts were pure awesomeness, why did you slide so much, was it because the tires were cold and worn out?
Pushing the limits of control is more like it!! I used to do this on a wet track to develop muscle memory (and save tires). Your hands have to learn to move fast, like a twitch or a reflex. Every kart racer knows that this skill is by far the most important, the difference between first and last. (actually knowing how to use the gas and brake might be up there). - Nice video!
I think the same, you are totally right ;) sometimes slide the kart on a corner is the fastest way to drive trough it. But I have to say that in this video I was drifting for fun, not trying a fast lap.
that's how shifter karts behave in tight circuits. when the 'power' hits everything goes into drift mode. every upshift is like someone slams you with a bat ball bat.
dude!!!! that looks like way too much fun. are you just playing or is that the fastest way around the track in a lose cart? what are the manual 2stroke carts called? is it just a dirt bike motor?
He is doing this just for fun, grip is always faster in kart racing. The kart class is called 125cc shifter karts. And no, this is not a dirtbike engine. A dirt bike is build to be durable, in the karts, just those couple laps. A comparisment, if I am right, a 125cc dirtbike engine produces 35 hp, or it was the 300cc two stroke dirtbike engine that produces 35hp, either way, a 125cc kart engine already produces 55 hp. I do know that a 1982 Honda CR500 has a 60 hp 500cc two stroke engine, so a 125cc shifter kart produces almost the same as a 500cc two stroke dirtbike engine. With a quarter of the displacement.
Who walks sideways is not walking forward! I've heared that before, I like the meaning of it. But sometimes going sideways can be faster ;) Thanks for your comment!
I AM FROM GREECE & I REALLY ENJOYED YOUR DRIVING . ESPECIALLY THE CONTINUAL DRIFT ( 1:43 - 1:48 ) IN THE ECSTATIC LAST LAP ! ! ! ! ! KEEP ON DRIFTING . . . . .OR " ΜΟΝΟ ΜΕ ΤΟ ΠΛΑΙ " AS WE SAY IN GREECE ! ! ! ! !
Is a maranello rs7, TM engine. In usa shifter karts usually have 125 2 stroke motorbike engine, but in europe there are engine specialy designed for karting.
damn its a shame people talking about only "maintaning speed" because under that theory ken block is also a crappy driver. this is pretty dope though i wanna get inot this, any idea where to go near orlando fl? dope video!
very nice video, reminded me when i drive my go-kart.I use very hard tires, intended for rental karts. Not good lap timing, but very good drifting and economy, they last very long!
Whats the plastic ball on the right side, air box? I've seen them on other shifter carts, is it a homoligation intake/restriction plate or does it serve another purpose?
omg so much fun........ divin gokart once and it was so much fun... but those were like small max speed of 50 or so... that looks insane. hope do god i can drive like that soon !
My brother used to have a Coyote chassis, Yamaha powered cart... Not a shifter cart, but it still did almost 60. I remember what an absolute gas that was. We used to drive it at an abandoned airfield in our area. Good times.
I'm sure it was a great fun too. The best of karts is that you can drive em like crazy without worry about crashing it and spending thousands of dollars in repairs. You can't have that much fun in a sports car. Thanks for your comment.
Man you make me miss my go kart,I had to sell it because I'm going to a college out of town for a year so I can go to nursing school but when I get back I'm buying a shifter kart the second I arrive home.
Hi maranelloo18. I am learning how to drive kart, but your driving destroyed my understanding in a spectacular way. I was taught no sliding around.... So a little bit of sliding into the hair pin is a good way not to let the rev drop, or are there other methods not letting the rev drop. Thank you for looking at my message. Great Drive.
I must say that you really did have fairly good control, alright, pretty damn good. Great looking red sled you have also. I miss the smell of the karts exhaust the most and of course the GEEEEEES.....
Done the same thing when my tyres were finished,I think every driver should do these kind of exercise at the end of every set of tires,it makes You build confidence on pushing the enveloppe ,build reflexes and its fun !
No matter what u guys say that is some very skilful driving there well done driver
daniel shaw thanks for your kind words :)
QuadRacingVids I have an intrepid and if this is how you really drive, I will kick your ass by far
Gus Waters then this ass hole comes along.
Gus Waters shut up, bet u couldnt do this, so dont be trashing on this guy, he could easily woop your ass
Brad Benavides Ikr this isn't driving in the edge of grip. This is intentionally loosing grip.
But i have to say that's some nice kart drifting lol
I can assure you that this hasn't been speeded up :) And in my opinion everyone can move their hands as fast as me.

Thanks for your comment, and enjoy your new kart!
People don't understand how inch-perfect the driving had to be on this run. WELL DONE.
***** Thanks. It's true, drifting is the ultimate vehicle control demonstration.
+MrAeroHD is that good drifting in every corner ? I thought it does loose seconds
+Richard Petre yeah it does, its faster not to drift but he's just having some fun :)

When you spin out, that's BEYOND the limits of grip. ;)
nice driving, way to keep it in the power band!!
thanks ;)
love that start up after the second spin out
haha thanks ;) it's horrible when you have to do that while in a race!
As I said (you can check earlier comments), I'm just driving like that for fun, not trying to set a fast lap ;)
people like you are winners because you push every limit you find and when u break it u tone it down just a hair (otherwise u spin out again) ........ you sir are a badass
Senna would be proud
Fantastic driving! What an enjoyable ride. Don't be too modest, you're a skilled pilot! I have to laugh at some of the comments. People don't realise how physical it is to drive a (proper) kart, and a shifter kart is a REAL handful! Nice job.

That's got to be the best driving I've ever seen. You got skills
Wow thanks man! :)
Wow! This kind of drivers are getting really close to the mastering, doing it with ease and 'sterility' ! COngrats!
Now, THAT is how you drive a shifter kart.. not like the rest of these wannabe kids put-putting around on these things. Excellent video, and huge nads amigo.
Probably yes, and hard tires. Thanks for watching :)
A lot of fun !
I must try this beast one day. Thanks for the video
;-)

As I said many times, i wasn't trying to go fast or setting a fast lap. I was just having fun and sliding as much as possible ;)
Third time watching and still really cool! So fun!
All you haters don't actually realise the skill involved in drifting a kart. The driver knows its not the fastest way around the track, he's just having a good time. Wish that was me.
Amazing skills LOVE the kart I would pay a pretty penny for it
well,i ran into some problems with mine unfortunately(needs some repairing) but i promise ill upload some this summer :D,by the way the drifts were pure awesomeness, why did you slide so much, was it because the tires were cold and worn out?
Motorsport is beautiful! Thanks for watching

When you downshift, are you unloading the rear tires to initiate drift? Or is that all breaks/steering?
whats the price tag on your specific model, and whats the top speed? your good at that!
Got recommended this and you are an amazing driver💪🏼
Wow thanks Adam! It's been 9 years since I quit racing karts so I reckon now I won't drive so aggressive lol
I think the same, you are totally right ;) sometimes slide the kart on a corner is the fastest way to drive trough it.
But I have to say that in this video I was drifting for fun, not trying a fast lap.
You're a nutcase man. that's so good. just wondering, if you hit the grass slideways would it flip the kart or is it too low and wide? thanks :)
well by the looks of it your pushing PAST the limits of grip^^
That's how you should pilot a shifter kart tho. it's a lot of power slide into the out of most corners.
that's how shifter karts behave in tight circuits. when the 'power' hits everything goes into drift mode. every upshift is like someone slams you with a bat ball bat.
this is on my bucket list
finally, been waiting for so long for this, please upload more:D
Shifter karts are so much fun to drive... I had an automatic kart too, and then I sold it and bought this one. Thanks for your comment :)
Nice driving. How many laps do you get out of the tyres driving like that?
Your a sick driver man ur drifting like every turn
Drifting in ccart is very fun :D good job man :)
Fjewt thehumble Thanks man ;)
QuadRacingVids please new vid.
Mau Schei I wish I could! I sold my shifter kart 3 years ago. Maybe if someone borrow me a kart for some laps...
QuadRacingVids WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT??? :(
dude!!!! that looks like way too much fun. are you just playing or is that the fastest way around the track in a lose cart? what are the manual 2stroke carts called? is it just a dirt bike motor?

Exacto! los 40 jeje. Yo ya vendí el kart, por falta de presupuesto. Pero llevaba un kz2 TM k9-c. Gracias por tu comentario ;)
People use to prefer shifting paddles but I think Kz best part is the lever ;)
Thanks!
I used to have... I won't be able to drive like this now ;)
Thanks!
What engine is yours? :)
Who walks sideways is not walking forward! I've heared that before, I like the meaning of it. But sometimes going sideways can be faster ;)
Thanks for your comment!

Wow that looks like fun I love drifting a kart bit this looks a handful!
Im surprised at how well those tires held up. are tires expensive for shifter karts?
Well said :) Drifting a kart is like drifting a car... it's easier to drive fast than drifting going slower.
If you drive fast in wet, you are a good kart driver ;) People sometimes don't realize how hard it is.
Is a maranello rs7, TM engine. In usa shifter karts usually have 125 2 stroke motorbike engine, but in europe there are engine specialy designed for karting.
yep, same here. Put the old tyres on and floor it! so much fun!!! but ITS GREAT when the track is wet!!!!
damn its a shame people talking about only "maintaning speed" because under that theory ken block is also a crappy driver. this is pretty dope though i wanna get inot this, any idea where to go near orlando fl? dope video!
This looks like so much fun!
Thanks :) I'm glad you liked it!
The current title brought you here, so It works fine for me :) But I like the one you suggested too.
Thanks for your comment!
haha drifting as much as possible :) thanks for the comment!
This video made me get one! Now I have one and will be on the track soon.
I'm glad my video inspired you. Hope you enjoy your shifter kart! :)
Thanks! I'm glad you like it :)
Yeah thats true, depending of the track and the corners slide a little bit can be the fastest way.
very nice video, reminded me when i drive my go-kart.I use very hard tires, intended for rental karts. Not good lap timing, but very good drifting and economy, they last very long!
Sick bit of kart control there man. Real pleasure to watch. Keep pushing it :D
Nice driving dude, kept control of the cart the whole time :D
Hey thank you for your comment! Where are you from?
What mount, camera, and camera setting did you use?
Je ne suis pas sur que pour les chronos cela soit le mieux mais pour les yeux c'est extraordinaires..
J'adore...
That's sick...kinda how I drive mine in industrial parks hahahah
Lol that sounds fun!! I never had the chance to do that
Awesome driving how much do tires cost and how much for a used kart would like to get into
Its a Maranello and TM kz2 engine. Thanks for your comments ;)
thanks :) I'm glad you liked it!
Whats the plastic ball on the right side, air box? I've seen them on other shifter carts, is it a homoligation intake/restriction plate or does it serve another purpose?
Yeah. it's an air intake ;) Air filter
Thanks for the response
QuadRacingVids hey bud :D do you know what engine that was on this kart?
TheDefensivemaniac sure, 125cc TM - K9 B ;)
omg so much fun........ divin gokart once and it was so much fun... but those were like small max speed of 50 or so... that looks insane. hope do god i can drive like that soon !
totally agree. F1 = too much technology Karting = purest form of motorsport
Thanks a lot :) That really encourage me to make more videos like this!
How many gears does a shifter kart have?
Just to know, I'm not that used to karting...
That looks like a FREAKIN' BLAST...
Yeah it was :)

Yeah... I miss that too, maybe when I save some money I'll buy another kart as well :)
hey thanks ;)
Well not many laps, even with hard compound... They use to last 3 or 4 driving days.
How much would they cost? Would it be cheaper to build your own?
Hi maranelloo18. I am learning how to drive kart, but your driving destroyed my understanding in a spectacular way. I was taught no sliding around.... So a little bit of sliding into the hair pin is a good way not to let the rev drop, or are there other methods not letting the rev drop. Thank you for looking at my message. Great Drive.
hey man i was wondering how much did that cart cost and btw nice driving
That looks super fun.I need to get one of those.
I also love karts. From now I was driving a Senior Intrepid kart, but now I will sell it and buy a shifter 125cc, the real karts ;)
Brilliant Video! Its amazing how most of the time you are driving one handed because you have to shift the gears. :)
Thanks for your kind words! 2 stroke for ever!
Thanks a lot, I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
damn this guy knows how to drift a kart!
Man you are rough at the wheel... And you're one of 2 people I've ever seen shift overhand!
A set of bridgestone tires cost arround 260€ more or less, and 2000-3500€ for a used shifter kart in quite good condition.
i never have driven a shifter kart before, but am thinking of getting into KZ2 soon, what can i expect?
How much did your kart cost? and do you have to have some kind of karting liscence for it?
I paid 9K for it, but you can find a new one for 4.000. And no, you don't need any kind of liscense to drive it :)
+QuadRacingVids I want one so bad haha
Yeah me too... I regret selling mine every single day :(
This isnt just pushing the limits its drifting!!!
I must say that you really did have fairly good control, alright, pretty damn good. Great looking red sled you have also. I miss the smell of the karts exhaust the most and of course the GEEEEEES.....
Great video fantastic driving & clean kart
Looks fast enough to me. Also looks super fun!
do the speed show in km/h or mph on the tacho ???
