don’t let theatrics fool you. a lot of these guys are constantly down at the local kart track. the amount of high profile drivers i’d see practicing is pretty big when I was racing.
@@dsdy1205 it's like a controled oversteer. Like a real car, the throttle is progressive. A normal go-kart doesn't have a rear differential, so the wheels are always at the same speed, unlike a normal car. So if you want to get the best results, you need to know how to control the oversteering and try to get as much traction as possible without sliding. The best way is using the throttle to control the rotation.
The lock on the steering is minimal maybe 10 - 15 degrees each way. Karts don’t have differentials. The chassis are designed so that when you turn the steering wheel it actually lifts or unweights the inside rear wheel so that it can spin freely and allow the kart to go around the corner. This means you are lifting part of your body weight as well with steering input. No power steering so it is very heavy. Believe me you do feel it in your arms after a short race when the adrenaline calms down.
Crazy just found out that he did this the day after Monza. Marijn your a beast just checked out your racing career profile much respect and good luck in the future.
Love this guy. His style in a kart reminds me of Senna, the kart going sideways, steering always pointing straight. There is a video of him, when racing for McLaren, Honda engine, having fun in a kart. he did one fast lap counter clockwise, broke the record of the little track, turned around, did one fast lap clockwise and broke the record again. But Ricciardo has biggest and most honest smile in F1, EVER, hope to see him again on Alpha Tauri soon!
Total respect for you, Marijn and Daniel! You continue to just kill it in a shifter, and for Daniel to come back to karts, to have a fun day and drive with a shifter World Champion, shows his serious love of the sport, and to do what most professional 'big car' drivers would sulk away from in fear! Kudos to Daniel, to come drive something 1/10 the weight of what he's raced recently, on a track he probably doesn't know, and to do pretty well, running with one of the very best in the world! Thanks for sharing this, what terrific fun!
Marijn is a world champion for a reason. He and his Birel..There should be a song, he’s so smooth and very fast. I’ve been blessed to see him race in Karting. He’s a racer with a great team too..🔥🔥🔥
Knew how this would end. Driving is so specialized and seeing his track times at CalSpeed a couple months ago in the x30, it’s obvious that it takes time to adapt. That’s why there are practice days and days to test equip, etc. Daniel just seems to have a good time and it’s cool that he comes back to his roots (unlike a certain world champion).
He kinda blew that turn and lost too much time because of excessive oversteer. At 5:25 he nailed it, clearing it without steering at all which is way more impressive.
I dont think he has ever raced a 125 6 speed, I dont remember him ever on a grid when i was racing here in Australia. He most likely raced in none gearbox classes
These karts are so fast, awesome acceleration and corners at 140km/h like nothing. Great POV footage! Out of curiosity, what is the normal operating water temp of these engines?
Watched all 3 races of an NZ Superkart series in 1984 featuring World Champ Lennart Bohlen. He claimed the outright lap record at 2 of the tracks and the other was a street circuit so that didn't really count.
Looks like Daniel had taped some bubble wrap around his right hip, if I'm not mistaken, before zippering up his suit. Maybe he bruised the hip at Monza and was trying to protect it a bit. I can't blame him -these karts are brutal, they can really beat you up. Anyway, very cool video, well-driven - I love shifter karts.
@@MarijnKremersRacing I know you are a gun, but its still impressive, so smooth.. good to see how its meant to be done! Thanks for the video! Cheers From Australia
Kremers is older than a significant portion of the F1 Grid already and he has a pretty comfortable and successful career in KZ. Theres no real need for him to be in Single seaters he's already one of the best drivers in the world
Most folks cannot understand how small the contact patch is here, and how that relates to the lateral g-force that an F1 car puts on the driver ....think detached retinas....
Only experience indoor electric go-kart at k1-speed here in Toronto. Those carts can hit 80km/hr is an extremely tight in-door track and easily controlled with left foot braking. I wish they can make EV cars drive the same way.
That Daniel Ricciardo guy look good on the wheel, might have a chance at winning the Italian Grand Prix someday
😂😂
Nvm that, he might win the F1 WDC one day
He seems to know what he’s doing behind a wheel!
More like yesterday
Might race for McLaren one day I reckon
