    Wow, that was incredible! I've always liked those racing carts. Like little F1 cars, they are so fast and nimble. But I have never seen a cart race from a POV camera. Amazing. Thanks for posting this! I'm a former bicycle racer (was in the sport 25+ years). Not quite the same, of course, but I really got into the drafting and cutting the apex of the curves, etc, in your race.

      Hey Boatman if you would please tell me more. I recently stumbled upon an old kart frame and chassis unlike any shifter carts I see on you tube. It has a big gas tank on the side and is designed to run two belt driven motors on both sides in the back. I have no idea what kind of motors to use or where to find them. I'm assuming twin two stroke centrifugal clutch motors. Can you point me in a direction? Thank you

      My older brother began racing a Mac 5 when he was 10 years old back in 1958. He won every race it seems and his room was jammed pack with trophies. He stopped racing when he was about 15. I was five years younger, so never got the chance, but there were no minimum weights to meet (and he only weighed about 70-105 pounds over that 6 year period) and he raced with adults. Women raced in a separate class called the Powder Puff class.

    Sorry for the noob question, "Stock Honda", is that referring to a production class type kart chassis/motor combination? What size mills are those, Im guessing 125cc? . Ive raced at Mid Ohio before on two wheels, now that Im older Im contemplating karts because I really miss racing. You looked like you were having a blast man, well done!

    • @seanpyles7430
      @seanpyles7430  4 роки тому +3

      Glen I would highly recommend getting into racing in a Shifter Kart. Stock Honda refers to the engine. This one was a 2001 stock 125cc Honda motor. It is specified as stock in the class name because they are moderately modifiable. If you are to run a modded Honda engine, it is usually run in the more generic shifter class

Where my knowledge stops is there though. how do you get to drive on circuits like this and dunno if u can say how much membership or league costs, entry of race etc? Pm me the details if you want. I used to race motocross professionally knees are shot. Alteasdy have a flat kart but this this the ultimate goal since the adrenaline you get is def close to a 30min moto with your heart rate close to 200 bpm on a shifter kart. I’ve never raced this track and not as familiar with the super karts, but they running same tires? Why are they so slow in corners, chicanes and sweepers? Cool to see a little bump drafting. Was wondering at the beginning if you’d be helping each other out 👍. And what is going on with the superkarts. The peripheral awareness seems NON exist and some of the lines they take are really really odd? Tires? Totally different set up? Poor drivers?

    Hello Sean, Having raced with WKA & Woodbridge for 15 years in Enduros. i have been to Mid Ohio before & as many classes it would seem your viewers don;t understand the fact you not racing the 250s or the Enduros just the guys in your class. You did a fine job out there & i am surprised to see you dispatch many of the 250s . With 125ccs you should outrun the Enduros with the KT100s. Nice racing & though i got out of the sport in 2007 i had plenty of great times especially at Summit Point. Both clubs are not doing as well as they should but by the comments perhaps it's best they just watch as many seem quite clueless as to seperate classes & the fact your running well over 100 MPH & not 40 as one guy seemed to think. Don't like stepping on toes but it sure helps to understand what your watching. Best of luck in the future & if you don't already know Summit Point has been completely resurfaced from the ground up & the lap times are dropping like flies. The record there in a sports racer is now 1;006 . The Kart record is by Andy Kiker who you may know ,he turned 1;10. The few times i've been to Mid Ohio were fantastic except one race was in the rain & not so much fun. Thanks for sharing your helmet cam vid.

      Sean Pyles they gotta be running super rich as well. Or maybe metallurgy has advanced since 1993??? I know i couldnt keep a kx125 pinned like they do. The top of the piston would melt by the exhaust port scar the cylinder and stick a ring every time.

    You guys had a good race. But damn. I'm glad I don't race anymore. Too many wankers these days. Especially those slow as piss Superkarts. And the dude in the red laydown couldn't drive worth a shit either. Use to run Enduro's back in the late sixty's and seventies. I remember when we had 110 entries in one class, American Reed Lite at the IKF Enduro Grand Nationals at IRP. We use to have 5 enduro races a year just at IRP back then. The heydays of karting are long gone. Too expensive for the average joe nowadays. Money and greed has put a lot of different types of racing out of reach for most people. I knew karting was in trouble when we were at Grattan a long time ago. Joey Hand shows up with a full semi trailer rig with "one" go kart in it. I knew then that money was going ruin karting.

    - more Top on his kart.
    - He is not so good in traffic

      Sean Pyles Was just asking because I remember once I kept drafting behind the leader at a recreational karting track and I noticed that I was able to maintain a consistent gap
      I was behind him for so long that the exhaust soot built up on my face because I had to open my helmet for ventilation
      Someday I hope to get into actual motorsports- Every time I get behind the wheel of a kart I feel like it’s natural
