What the 94 team did more often than not was simply wear teams out with that "40 minutes of hell." I clearly remember that in the last minutes of this game, a loose ball might be within four or five feet of an Arizona player who simply could not make his feet move anymore to go get it, and then Clint McDaniel or Corey Beck would swoop in like a lightning stroke, grab it, and off went the Hogs for another fast break. I can't tell you how many times I saw teams play the '94 Hogs close for 35 minutes and then get their heads beat in during the last 5 as though their feet were stuck in concrete. This team was one of the toughest and most well-conditioned that ever played the game.
I live out West and saw most of this Arizona team's games on TV - this was the only time all year that they ever lost their legs. The Pac 10 didn't have any teams with the combined athleticism, defensive ability and depth that Arkansas had. Normally the Wildcats still looked fresh at the end of a game. Certainly not here.
Hell yeah, teppscan. After the game D. Stoudamire himself said something akin to, 'They (Arkansas) just put so much pressure on you. And with about 10 minutes left it takes its toll.'
@@jamedlock83 You saying that Corliss was the best defender on this team tells me you have NO CLUE!!! Beck and McDaniel were THE defensive gems. Crawford was THE BEST athlete on this team. I went to every home game that year.
Living in the Southwest I saw most of this Arizona team's games and this was the only time all season that I ever saw them get tired. They were usually the ones who wore the opponent out to the point that they had no legs left down the stretch but Arkansas turned the tables on them.
I think the thing that people overlook in this game when looking back on it, was the unreal defensive job Clint McDaniel did on Damn Stoudamire. For the 1st time all that season, he faced a guard who defensively, was bigger, stronger, was as quick as him, and could stay in front of him. He simply never adjusted to it the entire game..
You're absolutely right. The only other guy to bother Stoudamire like that was Jason Kidd. Beck locked up Reeves that game too. Usually Arizona had the advantage in the backcourt which would most of the time negate other teams frontcourts. Not this game, Reeves and Stoudamire shut down and no answer for the Big Nasty =(
I remember how Happy I was Arizona beat Missouri so Arkansas didn’t have to play Missouri again . That Missouri team had lost only 1 game until the Arizona game . That was a 50 point loss to Arkansas. I’m sure they were wanting payback.
Dwight Stewart was ahead of his time...a stretch 5 that could shoot the 3.

Many don't understand that our best defender Roger Crawford was out for this tourney. This team is one of THE BEST EVER.
lmao. . . wrong. . . Williamson was the Hogs best Defender. . . . Crawford was a no-name. . .. Hogs would have won without him
