Perhaps the greatest enshrinement speech I have ever seen
No doubt. Loved it!!
@@ronthompson95 He had some good punch line, but not the Greatest. there are many! Listen to Dick Vitale HOF too.
Hands down bro
@Kurtis Douglas goat shit
@@lucasdeangelo5462 No doubt!
I graduated from Bowie High School in El Paso Texas 1976. Played basketball for this fine coach. Four years playing for him not one practice was easy. He had us hit the floor running, lay ups, running, passing, running. It was the most intense practice sessions of my life. Run and gun, in your face, full court press, not one second to catch your breath. 5 on 5 off, all my team mates were ready for the game. We won, we lost, and we won more than we lost. The bus rides went from ho hum to bus driver keep going the party is awesome. The 40 minutes from Hell is an EPIC movie, watch it. I bought me a copy. Coach Nolan Richardson gave me the discipline I needed for life. I went on to coach a junior high prep school basketball team the “believe” was what I told my players at half time down by 12. We came back to win the state championship by 1 with 5 seconds to go. I am glad Coach Nolan Richardson is now in the Hall of Fame, he is deserving. God Bless you.
Awesome story thank you for that!
Greatest College basketball coach ever!!! Who can win a national championship at Arkansas???? I can name 1.
Man, that story about Bird is so funny...and this man is such a dynamic speaker...what player would not love playing for him...he also demonstrates what a fine character he has.
I came here from the short clip of Bird’s story and I’m not disappointed. 😍
Same here😁
Me too

Same
Same here, lol.
The smile on bill Russell’s face is priceless
Rip
Russell and Magic. Two greatest smiles in basketball.
Yeah, so true.
Greatest College basketball coach ever!!! Who can win a national championship at Arkansas????
That was terrific.
In order to be a great teacher you have to be a student of life. This man is most definitely that.
I’ve never heard of this gentleman before and I’m disappointed, what a wonderful human being. I’d like to shake his hand and tell him mate you’re a top bloke. I listened to everything he had to say, wonderful speech. This world needs many more Nolan Richardon’s.
The only coach to ever win a junior college, NIT, and NCAA title in college basketball.
You're absolutely right my bloke
Mr. 40 minutes of hell
That 94 razorbacks team made my childhood buddy. Hooked on basketball ever since.
Yep. Arkansas won the Natty in 1994 in Charlotte. They beat Grant Hill's Duke team and the Clintons were there in the arena 🏀
That story about Larry Bird was amazing!
So many of the greatest players and Coaches absolutely KNOW Larry Bird was the FUCKIN MAN!!
No doubt at all !! He’d run circles around the watered down league.
@@arjunlakshman6790 ehhhh idk about that, but he'd still be a very good player if he played right now in his prime
@@boppob1343 Bird used to give young Kemp and Dominique Wilkins hell and they were athletic freaks. You see what Luka is doing and he's not an explosive athlete either.
The best Larry Bird story ever.
This man just oozes charisma; i could listen to him talk for hours
This is the best speech I've ever heard! Kept my attention the entire 31 minutes & 20 seconds. Amazing!!👏
Didn't notice it's 1/2hr
Has to be one of the greatest induction speeches ever
What an amazing human being. The longer he spoke the more i wanted to hear whatever he might say.
I've never watched a hall of fame speech when the audience was absolutely silent while the inductee was speaking. That man understands what life is all about and can relay it to others. That is what made him so successful. Totally enjoyed this one. 👏👏👏
Wow, what a moving speech. He had me listening to every word.
Nolan’s speech was magnificent!!
Greatest College basketball coach ever!!! Who can win a national championship at Arkansas???? I know 1....For those who knows what a ditch is... I picked up those bottles in ditches.
Coach Richardson, my coach in junior high at Bowie High School in El Paso, Texas,
an El Paso ICON and friend and I have the honor and privilege in being a part of his Yvonne Richardson Golf Tournament, raising millions that helps 32 charities.
RAUL CUELLAR cool
Arriba La Bowie
In 8th grade I was on an opposing track team and Nolan, while he was the coach at La Bowie, helped me improve my long jump during the meet. As adults we became friends and it was a pleasure to be of some help for several of the events for Yvonne’s Memorial.
Man that's so awesome good for you what an honor
Give this man a statue and name the court after him. It's time.
We've got half of it, and in my opinion the more important of the two. No matter what coaches have massive success at Arkansas in the future, they will never be able to unseat nolan as the greatest coach we will ever have, forever the face of Arkansas basketball
Damn right!

That's probably the best enshrinement speech that ever was and will be
I am sitting in the Tulsa airport, sometime in the early 90s. The place is about empty. I see Nolan Richardson. I am staring at him I guess, because I can not believe my eyes. I know who he is. I have always admired Nolan guiding the Ark team to great seasons. He walks over to me and starts a conversation. I get on my feet quickly and shake the man's hand. What a nice guy he is and was. We talked about the small little Tulsa airport. I let him lead the talk. We talked about 5 minutes , just about a whole lot of nothing, never about basketball, which is exactly want he wanted I guess. I am convinced he knew I knew who he was, and he knew it was making my day, my month, my year to shake his hand talk to the man. This Nolan has a certain charisma. He commands respect. If you ever meet Nolan, I bet you will see what I am talking about.
I have watched this at least 12 times. every time i am glued to the screen amazing man and human being.
helluva speech by a helluva man. Master's class in how to hold to an audience in the palm of your hand.
I don't know the man but for sure one helluva a speech.
Excellent observation! He’s sure held my attention at the 1st word.
@@bernardriggs2079 mine too.
Right on point, he can capture a crowd with his speaking present. I only wanted to play for him at Arkansas, but it didn't happen for me.
"Dam that brother can play"
Damn that "brother " can play !! Haha HAHA HAHA HAHA HAHA Absolutely hilarious thinking hes gotta be black !! Then sees the newspaper the next day !!!!!!! Absolutely hilarious story man

I remember him at Arkansas but never heard him speak. He's incredible his players were incredibly blessed!
I remember him from Arkansas but never seen him with grey hair and as a older man.
He was our coach... Arkansas has never come close to what he accomplished. 40 minutes of hell was REAL! He was always full to the brim with passion and never ever short of it. He is the best and always a Razorback! #94
Nolan Richardson was always held as a ledgend in Arkansas. It's great to see him in the hall.
That man is a great public speaker. I apologize if I said this before but this never gets old. I could watch this every day.
Man.. Nolan is a great speaker. Keeps you engaged the entire speech. Gotta take my hat off to this man
Watch his press conference after Arkansas won the title. He's been like this forever. Legendary coach and even better man.
Being a Razorbacker, he’s definitely my favorite coach in Arkansas sports history. His teams prior to the championship team were so fan to watch. From the Big O, to the MayDay Attack, it all ramped up to being able to put this historic team together. He was just the best. I’m getting off-track here, sorry. All that to say, I definitely agree with you about that press conference! (I realize you probably already knew that other stuff I mentioned, so that’s for anyone who didn’t.)
"Bird, he goes to the right, Bird, he makes a slice, Bird" Lol. That was hilarious. Bird is a legend and also one of the greatest trash talkers of all time
A friend of my grandpas in his early coaching career. A legend in El Paso🙏
I've been to El Paso, it's a very solid and good city.
How could you not Love That Speech.
storytelling at its best. thank you, coach, for the inspiration.
This man is an amazing speaker
I have always liked Coach Richardson and admired the way his teams played. He is certainly deserving of his induction. His induction speech was phenomenal.
An Intelligent Man and interesting speech. Obviously a great motivator and coach.
Despite me living in the State of Indiana I can't say I'm a big basketball fan. Was watching a short Lary Bird clip and came here looking for the full version. While I didn't know this gentleman before I admire his faith and humbleness
Legend... I miss rolling with Nolan.
I could’ve listened to this man for hours. What a great storyteller. Good man, great coach.
Nolan Richardson!! Wow! It’s crazy how the best enshrinement speech I’ve ever heard is coming from someone I’ve never heard of until now, A truly amazing speech.
Nolan Richardson class act a winner 🏆 and a HOF coach
A great, great Coach and molders of men. I am proud to be a Razorback basketball fan because of this man right here.
Oh my god! I saw the snippet about Bird in another video which brought me here. This is one of the best acceptance speeches I’ve ever seen! I’m a Bama fan and hated him in the early 90s because they usually kicked our ass! This is what is missing in today’s society! My hat’s off to Coach Richardson! Can’t believe I’ve never seen this!
Same here. Hilarious. I couldn't stop watching
That was a hell of a series when "Big Shot Rob" was on one of the teams and Todd Day was a Razorback. One of the greatest games I have ever seen was in the SEC tournament by those teams. I can't remember the point guard for Bama but he was special as well. Been some years, so I am not absolutely sure it was in the SEC tournament but neither team backed down from the other. Amazing game. And BTW, I call the Hogs. LOL.
This is what man is supposed to be. Appreciative and hard working.
NOT having any feeling of entitlement. There is not ONE entitlement bone in this man.
I don't even care about his highlights or stats this is the type of OG I would just like to hang around and listen to his stories he's hilarious and wise.
Wow, what a speech. Has to be top 3 speeches of all time at a ceremony and I don't know who the other 2 are as of yet
What a tremendously entertaining, energetic and profound speech! Congrats on a well earned induction.
I don't really like basketball but came across this video by accident and I can listen to this man all-day
This is pure gold. Captivating and humbling. Never even heard of him before, but this was so good.
One of the most inspirational speeches of all time on this planet. This is one of the very few videos I've watched till the end. We need more like this...
Nolan was a great coach. Love the Razorbacks style. They were a well oiled machine. He had an intense scowl and a million dollar smile.
Love his speech may God bless him and may God bless America 🇺🇸
Never heard of this guy but he sure can deliver a HoF speech. 👏👏👏
yeah. he's before my time but he made both bill russell and his great granddaughter laugh so i'm impressed.
I know who he is but didn't recognize him as a older man. Wow! What a great speech.
Great Speech and Stories. Congrats Coach Nolan Richardson
What a captivating speech. Melodic and inspirational. BUILD A TEAM TO ACHIEVE A DREAM!
As a kid I use to despise this man. His razorbacks used to kill my Longhorn! Then I heard him give a speech in a basketball camp and I became a fan
Amazing story teller! Much love and respect for the great Nolan Richardson
The very best and blessed speech I have ever heard from someone other than my father, who happens to be a huge bird fan and so am I, and now a fan of this great man
Very well spoken Justin. i could hear the sincerity&absolute LOVE! in ur written word..Be well..
Wow, that was inspiring. l went a long time without listening to that speech and now after hearing it, l regret every moment that I didn’t take the time to listen to it.
From the HEART and PURE LOVE, DOES NOT GET MUCH BETTER THAN THIS!!!
The MAN that led the Hogs 40 minutes of Hell......amazing coach.......Go HOGS, Go Nolan!
one of the best coaches ever period
This man single handedly put the university of Tulsa on the map.... Paul Pressey, Mike Anderson, Creason Hay, Phil Spradling, Herb Johnson, David Brown??? Man they were a real problem
nasty team, rolled through the NIT
Great speech. Funny, captivating and educational. Nolan spoke with that knack to inspire.
Watching the Hogs in March Madness this year lead me to this. I remember as a kid going to see them play back in the 90s. Incredible speech Coach Nolan Richardson and the University should most definitely have your name on the court.
Those early and mid 90’s men’s Arkansas teams were 🔥!! Full court press, fast breaks, 94 feet of hell, 40 minutes of hell! Those teams were very athletic, and fun to watch!!
Great Speech! No DEAD AIR!
Awesome! Never knew this guy had so much personality!
He has the best HOF speech.
It was very good...ever heard Dick Vitale's? I love his more than anybody's..🤟
Yes, excellent; but check these out: Shaq O'Neal; Kevin McHale; and Oscar Schmidt. And as much as I like Bill Walton, avoid his long-winded Hall of Fame Speech like the plague!
Hands down and I’ve watched many. His stories, the jokes, wisdom preached it’s all beautiful 🤩
I love u too Magic, but not as much as I like Bird. lol
what a remarkable speaker! well deserved!
"Osos Orgullosos." Some of us did not make it to College and we are not the "Larry Bird's, Magic Johnson's, and the like, but among us we have The Ferniza's, the Escalante's, the Tony Gomez's and the rest of the team that This great Coach took the the Championship in the 70's. We were Blessed to have someone to look up to in our little world of "Segundo Barrio." It is never too late to say "Thank You Coach,You Made a Difference in Our Lives. God Bless You."
Beautiful. As an Arkansan, I am grateful for what he brought to my state's athletic heritage in the '80s and '90s. I'm lucky to have been in the induction ceremony crowd that evening!
awesome Manny
Hi Manny, He was also an inspiration for a lot of us that played against you guys during the early 70’s.
Love his bit on Larry Bird. Fantastic. Only Nolan could tell it that way.
And you know its true... especially when he says Bird is my favourite player I like you too Magic but I love Bird
One of my FAVORITE ALL TIME COACHES!!!!
The Bird story is priceless, but the best part is how genuine the story actually is. I remember years ago an interview with Richardson where he said Larry Bird was his favorite player ever, and I was surprised.
I have a black friend whose favorite NBA player is Larry Bird.
Even players like Danny Manning, Reggie Miller and Glen Rice are also fans of Larry Bird.
Bird is the equivalent to Eminem in rap music. You have to face the reality and to acknowledge class period.
@@tyronevaldez-kruger5313Not quite Eminem but I get the point you were trying to make. Eminem is an anomaly because yt people had nothing to do with the creation or cultivation of hip hop. Basketball was a yt guys sport created by them for them. Black guys just took a liking to it. There’s no Eminem before or after, a 1of1.
@@mackinshizzaveli4202 so you can't compare both juggernauts because of the differences in the reasons why basketball vs hip hop was invented.

Absolutely Riveting!!!!
Word, I can't stop watching. Bird part was hilarious. Lol
This speech very inspiring and deserves millions of views…
to have someone talk about you during their hof speech? goat
Listening to his speech... Im ready to suit UP!! Put me in Coach!!
That story about the boy and the bottles was excellent and the God and the devil calling him up to play some hoop was excellent . What a great storyteller and God fearing man he is . I was touched by his humility and prayers 🙏 for his daughter who is smiling from heaven above .
God Bless him and we need more people like that in today’s world
👍
You are absolutely right he's a beautiful man that has class and weight if you know what I mean. He carries weight, man of character.
The greatest most passionate speech I have ever heard in the Hof. I watched Nolan coach Arkansas Razorbacks, so this was extra special for me. He is a great coach and storyteller!!!
Love this !!! I'm a Kentucky fan, and I hated to play Nolan Richardson's Arkansas Razorbacks. Why ? Because they were so DAMN GOOD !!! Yes, they were tough and fast and up and down the court, played hard on defense. Now Rick Pitino had some amazing squads that played hard and pressed and whatnot too, but Mr. Nolan and his teams were special and those matchups in that era were EXCITING and so great and fun to watch. Glad I was able to see that era in college basketball. And that was a super induction speech as well !! Well done Sir !!
That was a great league during those years. Alabama had a great squad as well and LSU was no slouch. Great battles watching those games on Wednesday night and Saturday.
This dude should go back to college and teach the art of public speaking. Never a boring moment in that speech.
This is what make America Great. Ordinary People doing great things.
40 minutes of great ball, great coach loved watching his teams.
I knew about Richardson for years as a good coach (I hated it when we played his teams, utterly frustrating). Had no clue he was this type of orator/comedian. When coaches retire, you get to see more of their true personalities, it's refreshing.
Man that was a powerful powerful powerful speech I loved it this is my fourth time watching the whole thing I love that man he really needs to be a motivational speaker I bet you he'd get a huge following anyway love you dude
I wish that I would have had a Father figure like Mr. Richardson growing up. What an amazing man...I loved my own Daddy but he died when I was a little boy.
Easily one of the ABSOLUTE best enshrinement speeches of all-time! and I wrote this comment before Mr. Richardson finished it. !! It's right up there with Buck O'Neil's Baseball Hall of Fame enshrinement speech.
Part of that speech was on CBS Sunday Morning today. The background story of his speech there almost brought me to tears but my anger was definitely present. On this one, I simply DO NOT have the grace and class of the man. Rest in Perfect Peace & Power Mr. O'Neil.
I rewind the Larry Bird story about 10x. Love it!!
Nolan is a legend
This guy is one of the greatest NCAA coaches and after hearing him speak, you can tell why.
Man, Salute Mr. Coach Nolan Richardson!!!
All time great. 40 minutes of hell baby!!!
Great Coach! We enjoyed having him here in Arkansas. He put Arkansas at the top with his coaching skills, his HOF induction speech was very very good! The part about Bird was comical!
Fun Fact: this is my basketball coaches grandfather
I really enjoyed the speech very inspirational and powerful…Thank You Sir..
Very inspiring! Top 5 best Hall of Fame Speeches ever!
Anytime I need a pick-me-up, I tune to this HOF speech of Nolan Richardson. I remember watching his Arkansas basketball teams and how they played so hard. I always figured Coach Richardson as a sort of 'thug" by the way his teams played. But this man tells a story in this short speech. A story of heartache, perseverance, and an appreciation for those who showed him the way to a final victory.
