I really like that coop and setup, I think I’ll have to copy some of it when I start building mine lol.
I bet that dogs saliva got into those birds water. Dogs saliva is actually a very strong antiseptic that can kill germs and bacteria and prevent infections so if get it’s giving those birds an immunity boost.

Hey there! Thanks so much for the compliment, we've really enjoyed that coop! I never thought about the dog's saliva in the chicken water! Even if the dog water bowl is full, Sunny always loves to steal a quick drink ;)

Great simple routine and explanation! Thanks. Where do you get your rice hauls? Local farm store or order?

Thanks for the support! We own and run a small garden supply store, www.gard.in outside of Boston, Massachusetts. We sell them for local pickup because they are too bulky and expensive to ship. However, you should be able to find them online or hopefully at a garden store near you. We sell a 50lb bag that expands to 7cuft for just under $40 as a reference. You get a ton for not a lot of money :)

That coop is from Tractor Supply, we built the run with 2x4's and hardware cloth. 😀

That's OK for a small flock, but won't work for a bigger flock, that's a lot of work for the small amount of chickens you have.

Hey there! We are currently raising an additional 18 chicks indoors that we will add to the flock this summer when they are big enough. I'm also eager to see if my routine will be affected once we have more than 20 hens! I'll be sure to post an update once we have everyone together and make sure to highlight what has changed about my morning routine. How many chickens do you have and what is your routine like?

@Gardinteam I have about 40 birds in total, but not all of them are chickens. In my coop and run I keep about 16 chickens, I do deep litter so I don't pick up poop, I never water my chickens, if I have to clean the water bowl, it takes less than 30 seconds, I use a regular plastic chicken feeder elevated with paracord under the chicken ramp, it takes me less time than your 3, I also don't pay water and power to maintain my flock, 100% off grid...I have videos up, but warming, I do everything very differently, I have the most advanced chicken watering system on UA-cam, that's how much I hate watering my animals lol, I don't mind feeding at all.

Wow! That is amazing, I can't wait to check those videos out! One of our core philosophies is to always be learning and always be looking for room for improvement, so I definitely look forward to seeing how you do things. We've been running a gardening store for almost a decade and our customers are always teaching us how many different ways things can be done to suit individual needs and preferences. It's all about learning and then using what works for you and your situation. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment and for sharing your insights. Never having to water sounds like a dream!

We checked out your setup, so cool! I think you are right! We have upgraded to a bigger water dish, so will see how that goes as the flock expands!
