Fertilizing Kale; Organic, Salts & Teas
Переглядів 2142 місяці тому
In this video, we demonstrate how to fertilize kale grown in a 30-gallon container with living soil. The plants are not deficient but need a boost for optimal growth and deeper green foliage. I use organic granular feed and a worm compost tea, explaining why I prefer these methods and why I avoid salt fertilizers unless there’s a deficiency.

    Did you know the Bible says “the gift of God is eternal life”(Rom6:23)? To understand this, answer this questions. Have you ever lied, stolen or used God’s name in vain?Jesus said.”Whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” If you have done this things, God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous adulterer at heart, and He will punish you in a terrible place called Hell. But He is not willing that any should perish. Sinners broke God’s Law but here’s the gospel (good news)-Jesus paid their fine. This means their case can be dismissed:”God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Then Jesus rose from the dead, defeated death.Today, repent and trust Jesus, and God will give you eternal life. Then read the Bible daily and obey it. God will never fail you. livingwaters.com

      @@Gardinteam I have 13 month old chicken, that I bought from the store as chicks , also I have 2 month and 1 month chicks that I incubated from my eggs, the question is what kind of food do you give them or is the camera that makes them look big?

    • @Gardinteam
      @Gardinteam Місяць тому

      The camera might be making them look bigger! We feed them quality chick feed for their age but more and more of their diet is from free ranging as they get older and spend more time out. In our week 6 video you can see them with older chicks that are much bigger than them and those are still not fully grown but will give some perspective on their size!

      I love moss too! We definitely allow moss to grow in some parts of our yard, it is gorgeous, but generally don’t encourage it in high traffic areas or where we are trying to encourage pollinators. Moss has shallow root like structures called rhizoids that don’t penetrate as deeply into the soil, making moss less than ideal for areas of your yard that you are trying to build the soil up and prevent erosion. The longer roots of grasses, clovers, dandelions or other wild flowers that you allow to grow in your lawn will help to build and stabilize the soil, especially in high traffic areas where moss would be easily scraped away and consequently, healthy soil and nutrients would wash away overtime as well. Plus, moss doesn’t provide food for pollinators, so if you’re letting your lawn grow long, with a huge variety of plants, you are doing wonders for the pollinators in your area :) Our lawn is a mix of dozens of species of grasses, clover, and wild flowers, which makes the soil stable and rich, and provides a banquet for pollinating insects. We let it grow long in the spring so that pollinators coming out of hibernation have a bit of an easier start :) #NoMowMay Thanks for the comment and for watching!

    Takes alot of soil amendments to raise or lower pH needs time. Doesn't happen overnight

    • @Gardinteam
      @Gardinteam 2 місяці тому

      Hey! That's a great point. We pour a 50lb bag into a spreader and walk that over the lawn. We've found that the lime sitting directly on the moss inhibits it's growth, even if it takes a bit longer for the entirety of the soil pH to change. Plus, we don't pull the dying moss up, but leave it in to act as a little fertilizer source as it decomposes. Have you had any luck using lime on mossy lawns? If so, what did you do?

      Hey there! We are currently raising an additional 18 chicks indoors that we will add to the flock this summer when they are big enough. I'm also eager to see if my routine will be affected once we have more than 20 hens! I'll be sure to post an update once we have everyone together and make sure to highlight what has changed about my morning routine. How many chickens do you have and what is your routine like?

    • @MosaicHomestead
      @MosaicHomestead 2 місяці тому

      @Gardinteam I have about 40 birds in total, but not all of them are chickens. In my coop and run I keep about 16 chickens, I do deep litter so I don't pick up poop, I never water my chickens, if I have to clean the water bowl, it takes less than 30 seconds, I use a regular plastic chicken feeder elevated with paracord under the chicken ramp, it takes me less time than your 3, I also don't pay water and power to maintain my flock, 100% off grid...I have videos up, but warming, I do everything very differently, I have the most advanced chicken watering system on UA-cam, that's how much I hate watering my animals lol, I don't mind feeding at all.

      Wow! That is amazing, I can't wait to check those videos out! One of our core philosophies is to always be learning and always be looking for room for improvement, so I definitely look forward to seeing how you do things. We've been running a gardening store for almost a decade and our customers are always teaching us how many different ways things can be done to suit individual needs and preferences. It's all about learning and then using what works for you and your situation. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment and for sharing your insights. Never having to water sounds like a dream!

      Great question! It can vary, but in general, I alternate each month between just scooping off the top layer of excess hay and droppings and adding a fresh layer of rice hulls, and doing a full cleanout. It never ever smells thanks to the biochar and is always dry thanks to the absorptive moisture layer of the coco in the middle, and the anti-absorptive dry layer of rice hulls on top.
