I confirm vinegar works great as a final rinse instead of fabric softener! I’ve been using it for years. It’s funny how many people think that vinegar could damage or corrode the machine - when bleach is much more corrosive.
You are correct!! 🙂🙂
Thanks for the testimony
Same! I use it for odor and as an alternative fabric softener. I put 2/3 vinegar 1/3 water in one of those downy balls (they open on the rinse cycle)
What detergent you use?
So it doesn’t leave your clothes with the stinky vinegary smell??? That’s my concern! I don’t worry about corrosion at all.. but I mix my whites and dark a lot on a cold wash if I only have a little of both to make a load…. So would the vinegar harm the colors ….??
@@hello-nq3ze but it gets diluted with so much water, it won’t have time to corrode anything.
I wash allllll my towels with vinegar instead of soap. They are fluffier (no fabric softener used) and softer! Also cleans washer!
🤗 Hugs! and thank you for caring for this planet and yourself.
I've been using vinegar in the rinse cycle for a few months it works great
This works. I spent the 90s in a Metal band and this is the only way to kill the funk in stage clothes. For a full size load, briefly agitate liquid Tide, 1 to 1.5 cups white vinegar, and 2-3 drops (I literally mean drops, not squirts) of Dawn dish soap. Then add clothing to washer. Don't use more than 1.5 cups of vinegar. You'll risk smelling vinegar-esque.
Please use low scent or no scent laundry detergent 🙏💕 so many people are suffering from multiple chemical sensitivitie. "MCS"
@@dianeibsen5994what is MCS? You’re saying not to use Tide!
@@candilease6618 Yes! Scented lab-made anything is toxic🤢☠️to humans and the environment. Plug-in air fresheners, scented candles, febreze, etc. Anything that goes into your dryer ends up out in the environment, and neighborhoods and in our waterways😞
As I mentioned MCS is multiple chemical sensitivity.. also related to chronic fatigue syndrome. Its becoming more of a epidemic 😞
I add it to the softener cup on top of the agitator. I've been doing this for about 10 years now. I quit using dryer sheets and it works great.
Thanks for the testimony!
Thank you so much for contributing to cleaner air on this planet ❤️ thank you so much for not using dryer sheets, fabric softeners, scented laundry detergents. Vinegar cheap and easy and softens fabrics too! 🙏💕🌎🤗
How much vinegar do you put?
@@joeblow9556 About 1/4 cup
@@freedomearthmoon1 Great! Tried that and love the result! merci
Grind Rising thanks 4 the tip I'm going to try this today, have a phenomenal day peace and blessings Namaste
Happy to help
Namastey ji🙏
I'll have to try this. We have really HARD water
I've used vinegar for over 30 years ij my washing in lieu of fabric softener. I see a lot of people worried about their washer. 10 years in first house using same machines, no issues from vinegar. This house 23 years and on 2nd set of machines and no issues from vinegar. All my family and friends who have taken y advice to try are impressed. I may try the tip to use in bleach dispenser but have always used in the fabric softener cup. No odors ever from vinegar not he fabrics. I feel this eliminates using toxic chemicals and better or the environment than dumping those chemicals into the water waste system.
Yea there's alot of bad info out there. Vinegar is completely safe.
Did You Add It To The Softener?
How Did It Work?
TIA
@@rosieandrade8482 I always have used it in the fabric softener slot and never had an issue. I especially like how it works on cotton towels and sheets, very soft and clean. I used it in the bleach slot and saw no difference on one load of clothes so far. I will try it a few times in the bleach slot and see if there is a difference. The explanation someone offered makes sense but the clothes didn't seem different to me.bur I do know it definitely works for me in lieu of fabric softener.

How Much Do You Put?
TIA
Thanks for the info, i have plan to use vinegar for the front load washer, some reviews says to use 4% vinegar and singer says to use more than 8% vinegar, can you pls suggest the percentage of concentration .
Since I found in your review it's completely safe for the door door seal, i plan to start using vinegar ...
Thanks in advance
If you have a dishwasher with a clear lid, do a wash with clothes or towels that you have washed with soap before, but don't add soap. Instead, add a cup of white vinegar and you will think that soap was added as the water becomes bubbly. For towels this will help them absorb more water as well. For extra bonus, do another rinse cycle with just baking soda. Obviously, don't add vinegar and baking soda at the same time.
i use white vinegar in the softener dispenser. i am concerned that there may be a negative reaction of the vinegar with the detergent, for example, if the detergent has a alkaline agent then the vinegar (an acid) would react making a salt, therefor cancelling each other out for cleaning.
fyi, i have see in a few places about vinegar damaging the rubber parts of the washer and not recommended by manufacturers.
but since i use only a few ounces i am not worried.
No the vinegar works great as a laundry booster! As far as damaging the rubber parts, It won't damage them because it is diluted in all the water giving it a much milder ph. If it was straight vinegar than yes you would be correct.
I've done the same for 10 years, no problems on my end.
@@CleanWithConfidence how about using salt to protect the color on clothes
@@CleanWithConfidencehow much for a standard load of laundry?
Wished I had seen this video before doing laundry.
...how much vinegar are you supposed to use? I'd love to give this a try but don't want to use to much or too little...
hi! i've seen half a cup being a standard use. however idk if it applies to every washing machine since the different kg of laundry, but half a cup seems alright
half a cup will do the trick.
Is distilled white vinegar consider a mild detergent when is comes to washing clothes?
Do you use the vinegar in addition to detergent or instead of?
vinegar boosts laundry detergent. so vinegar + detergent
I add it to where the machine says fabric softener.
I've heard that it will damage the washer by eating away at the plastic pieces.
It won't because it is diluted in all the water giving it a much milder ph. If it was straight vinegar than yes you would be correct.
So I follow a cleaning company on TikTok and they say not to add vinegar to the washing cycle with the detergent because vinegar and laundry detergent cancel each other out.
Is that true???
This is some truth to that, although paradoxically vinegar does work to boast the washing process. It's one of those things you just have to try for yourself and see if you are impressed with the results.
Just add it to the rinse cycle instead of fabric softener. Just half cup.
@@quartz3150 Just make sure to put it in your rinse water, not your fabric softener dispenser. I used to do this til I found out quite by accident that the fabric softener dispenser dispenses during the spin part of the rinse cycle, so it gets deposited on your clothes (like fabric softener is meant to) and stays there. Make sure it goes into the rinse water so it also gets rinsed out.
@@suefliss7210 I did not know that. Thanks for the tip.
@@suefliss7210Fabric softener goes in the rinse cycle. If it went only in the spin cycle with no water it would leave splashes of goo on your clothes.
If you're afraid of vinegar smell, add a few drops of essential oil to the vinegar
So will your clothes smell of vinegar at the end?
The vinegar washes out with the rinse and anyway vinegar is completely volatile meaning all of the smell will evaporate in the dryer, it can't leave any smells.
I add a drop of essential oil too. MM
Anyone with a Speed Queen knows vinegar is a must for the spin cycle/drain issue.
Can you elaborate? I’m looking into purchasing a speed Queen.
@@mswanson819 the one flaw with a SQ TC5 is the final spin cycle on regular loads or sheet cycle. The spin cycle is very fast (which is good) but the water pump is overly aggressive and continues pumping even when the water is gone which causes foaming. The foam comes out of the drain stand. If a little vinegar is placed in the agitator for the rinse, it helps prevent the foam.
❤️
Mine says it’s for bleach. Is that the same dispenser?
@@JennyIsUnavailable How’d it go? Are you a daily vinegar user now?
I’ve been putting in the bleach dispenser for years. Works great. Slight vinegar smell. But like the smell. I will use the fabric softener to cut the smell if I desire. But I don’t fill the fabric softener dispenser. Just a couple of tablespoons in the dispenser. Run as normal.
I see no one has yet to answer if it is ok to put it in the place it says bleach only?
Or just do a fabric softener ball?
@@teronmcomments say bleach dispenser ok to put it in
which one vinegar to use laundry?
Distilled white vinegar, 1/4 cup (60 mL) per load :)
can you recommend a brand name of distilled white vinegar?
@@RAFAELGTOLEDO Any brand of distilled white vinegar will do.

A half a cup per load is all you need.
Hi Bro
Hello there!!
How do I get rid of fur from my machine......
clean the filter at the bottom
Can you use Apple cider vinegar ?
I have the same question.
Well considering it has water it will probably make it clear and soft however it will now have color to the whites.
Okay, then can someone PLEASE tell me why the vinegar is NOT softening my clothes, AND it is still fading some items??? This is so frustrating, I cannot find any answers. 😔
Your clothes are being switched by gremlins when you leave the room.
My guess is you might be using too much detergent in the washer?
Have your water tested. Get answers from experts who can tell you why you are having issues with laundry.
Install an in-line filter on your inbound plumbing line coming into your home. Removes hardness and impurities in water. Maybe try using less vinegar. Is your water softened?
@@beckyheinz7337 Yes, it's as soften as it will get in a cheap quadplex. Lol
Will it smells like vinegar?
No it will all get rinsed out and the clothes will smell fresh!
I know vinegar works great to get soap out of the rinse cycle but I still use fabric softener because vinegar stinks.
If your clothes smell like vinegar afterwards you used way too much. Can’t even smell it when the loads going.
Fabric softeners are a scam
Does the vinegar stop the static cling as well?
I wad up aluminum foil into balls and use them in the dryer with a few wool dryer balls
@bri v_turnin_burnin been doing that for years too! I put essential oils on my wool balls in dryer, clothes smell fresh and towels too, until next use.
@@mikecanniff3873 same! EOs are so much better than strong fabric softener scents and itchiness due to skin sensitivities...plus you can change your essential oils up for different loads. I have a few different favorites. Lavender Eucalyptus is awesome for bedding and pajamas 💤
The vinegar stops 75% of the static. I cut fabric sheets in thirds or quarters and use as needed. I don't like chemicals in my clothes.
Dryer balls and once in a while an essential oil. MM
You didn't say how much to use. I don't want to use too much and have vinegar smelling clothes....🤢
You just fill up the pre-rinse slot.
@@CleanWithConfidence ok will try it. Keep the great videos coming please ! 👍
@@jaredevildog6343 Thanks for the encouragement!
No. Vinegar in a washing machine will degrade the integrity of the silicone rubber parts in the appliance. Over time this could lead to premature wear and thinning .
That's a myth. There are a slew of cleaning myths that float around the industry and that one is nonsense.
If this is true then what does Vinger do to the people's insides who eat it on food 🤔 🤣?
Same could be said about coke a cola. You can use come to clean battery terminals on a car.
Vinegar. It increases stomach acid and helps digestion.
Vinegar is an acid and can damage the rubber parts in your machine over time. I wouldn't use it. Modern detergents work without the need to add anything to "boost" them. Vinegar may even affect the detergent's ability to remove some stains. You're just wasting your money.
This is actually not true because the vinegar is diluted in the water. It is were straight undiluted vinegar that would be a different story.
Well my 20yrs old washing machine that has been used with vinegar on 3 loads a week seems to not mind it and my machine is clean like the day it was bought.
@@anick5338 that is correct. 👍There’s alot of bad advice out there. Vinegar is diluted in the washing machine.
@@CleanWithConfidence Can't hurt your machine any more than bleach would. I've been using bleach in my washing machines for years without any problems, although I do not use bleach in a front loading machine, so how can vinegar be any worse in terms of damaging the machine? I'm going to try using the vinegar in place of bleach and see how it works.
