I had similar experience with my Fuerte and Sirprise. My Nabal and Fuerte did not flower this year but they are still young. I think the older varieties just don't produce as soon or as much and some of the newer avocados like GEM, Lamb, etc. My GEM, Lamb, and Reeds are covered in BBs.
I'm still thinking that it might just be the weird year we got. I'm glad we both got fruit. Thanks for watching Sam!

I am surrounded by huge avocado trees here in the yucatan amigo. Every one has been growing them in their yards for years. I just go pick em and eat em. Still looking for one wit a little higher oil content.
Maybe top work the Sir Prize as well to take advantage and make use of the established roots. I don't think Zutano is anyones favorite but maybe you can germinate the seeds for rootstock. True AvoHeads watch hours worth of avocado content keep it coming.👍🍻
I'm going to try to give the sir prize one more season, I haven't tried the fruit yet so I'm curious how it will taste. Probably going to top work a couple trees going forward. I have some new varieties in pots that still need to be planted.

Very interesting that I’m having the same experience with the same varieties (I don’t have a couple that you do). Must be the weather. No other way our alternate bearers and “poor performers” could all be this in sync with each other. Thanks
I wonder if I put some of my trees in different spots. If they would react differently then on the flip side I would know. But at this point what's done is done. We'll just have to deal with it. Thanks for sharing and here's to getting some fruit.

Interesting vid, there are so many factors involved with growing a successful growing and productive tree, and precocious too, planting location, rootstock, soil drainage cultivar etc some trees take much longer to produce fruit my holiday for instance has never held fruit going on yr 4 now it drops all bbsi heard it takes 7 years before holiday produces fruit, your zutano is not supposed to be alternate bearing what's going on there? Bacon is not supposed to be alternating either maybe the weather winter spring cold caused these problems.I'm finding very late fruit set some are alternating lamb hass how is your lamb hass? Didn't see it in theses 2 vids?
My lamb hass only a few flowers don't think it set any fruit beginning yr 4 in ground last year 10 fruits set and 3 are still hanging7 dropped in may but were still decent tasting though lamb is supposed to taste best in July aug
My Jim bacon beginning yr 4 in ground is 12-14 ft tall with a 4 inch trunk base is ho!ding about 20-30 bbsVery late fruit set
I planted 2 new gwens from 5 gallon louies nursery and doing really well both have bbs and new growth however my 4 yrs in ground still has no flowers this year and has never held fruit to maturity maybe next year? Patiently waiting.

My Jim Bacon, same age as yours would be well over 12 feet if I'd not topped it, and it's loaded with fruits, my Sir Prize same age as you're had 20 fruits last year, however knowing of its poor architecture and alternate bearing,, I grafted a Lamb as the top leader. Our JB same age as yours, had 20 fruits last year, but didn't flower this year. Also our Bacon loaded last year, doesn't have much coming this year. Thx for the up date.
It's interesting we have some similarities and some differences. I think my eucalyptus is causing part of the problems I have with some of my varieties. It's nice to at least get some fruit, but unfortunately I wish that there was more. Thanks for sharing!!
How do u water ur trees ?
Trees are on MicroSpray and I water everyday right now. It will get hotter so I'll be watering additional times throughout the day. The biggest thing was having a reliable wifi timer that I can add additional water during heat waves when I'm away from home.
So Zutano Rootstock isn't good?
It's the most common. The thing is with every seed there is variability. Most are fine but it's possible to have a dud. Lately getting clonal is the way to go.
