    Thank you for your video. Regarding 9:52, the Gold Krugerrand's 22 karat gold composition is known as "Crown Gold" which is 91.67% gold + 8.33% copper. Crown Gold was introduced by King Henry VIII in 1526 and still used in the minting of British Gold Sovereign coins. The traditional use of Crown Gold is the reason why British Gold Sovereigns & Gold Krugerrands have a rose gold alloy color. On the other hand, the American Gold Eagle coins are also 22 karats but their composition consists of 91.67% gold + 5.33% copper + 3% silver. The inclusion of 3% silver results in a more golden hue as compared to the rose gold hue in Krugerrands & sovereigns.

    I like the Kruggerand. Lots of people all over the world like them. In the US stacking gold is a very new phenomenon. Most people in the US have never seen a gold bullion coin so they would not be able to relate to kruggerands. This will change in the future.

    I'm intrigued by that early crown on the left. I had a relatively rare 1971 Krugerrand that I bought for CDN$300 and sold for CDN$1300. Krugerrands were out of favour at the time so I wasn't sad to see it go. As I began to change my mind, I purchased 2 flawless Krugs, a 1975 and 1979 for CDN$2400 and CDN$2100 respectively, the latter being proof-like. That will be it for Krugerrands, which now are valued at CDN$3191.

Checking my LCS wed site last week and spotted the gold Pond for sale and thought it was interesting as i have not seen one before . Went to buy it only to find it had sold . This talk of sizes based off of the Troy ounce, rather than the traditional and varied weights which national gold coins came in. Was it the South African Krug which founded the one Troy ounce half, quarter and tenth standard. I can look it up I suppose. But I'll put the question here anyway. If so it makes the Krug even more important to the history of the stacking world.

    SS, I'm a new stacker and using it to diversify my investments as a younger man.
    Ive bought a 1oz minty kruger, with a 1% premium. So I'm thinking the coin is in decent condition like you've talked about, and has a low premium like you've mentioned. I now know its not CGT exempt which is a downside. But why would I choose a sovereign or Britannia with say, 2.5 or 3 percent premium on it over a 0.7/1 premium kruger, really? Sorry if you've answered this a lot but i really appreciate the knowledge. Thank you and keep up the videos mate. I can see, best value sovereigns are cheap on premium but still dont come close to kruger.

    • @SovereignSaurus
      @SovereignSaurus  3 дні тому +1

      Hi thanks for the question.
      The main hang up on Krugerrand like you say is it not having CGT free status in the UK. With the rapidly decreasing tax free allowances people would rather a Britannia or Sovereign and in many cases the small % premium people feel justified in paying.
      I've got some more ideas on this which I'm going to make into a video like for example if there are future rule changes a lot of what it's but.... what if gold coins lose their CGT free status? What if rules change for non pure gold like 22ct and below gold coins like Australia and Canada?

The most liquid coin is the 20 Marks coin with a mintage of more than 120 million. The sales statistics published in newspapers and magazines are misleading. Interesting point I personally don't care either way who's on the coins I think it's nice for the Krugs to have something different. I've some silver coinage that does have George on from back in the day. I'm sure some have young Liz on there too 🤔
      Losing track of all your names 🤣 All the best for the New year my friend

    I have a 1978 coin how do I know it’s real?
    How much is it worth today in usd?

      Around spot price $1957.
      You can test the basic weight and dimensions, the biggest thing would be to look very carefully and compare to a known genuine one (or photos of one) You can also test using Sigma verifier or XRF machines if you've access to those
