Best to look at your government. Didn’t get better after the apartheid. I know it’s wasn’t ideal but not much good. As soon as towns or cities are ruined by a certain group it doesn’t take long and it’s ruined.
Ok you've convinced me that my next one ounce gold coin will be a Krugerrrand. This was a great video I loved the music played in the background of the mint footage.
I have 4 gold coin types: The iconic Kruggars, the Majestic Eagles, the Glorious Maple Leaf, and soon to have the Eternal Sovereign.... I treasure them all.
Regarding 1:19, the gross weight of a one ounce Gold Krugerrand is 1.0909 troy ounce which is equivalent to 33.93 grams. Its diameter is 32.77 millimeters and its thickness is 2.84 millimeters.
I like both the Krugerand and the Eagle. At 22 carats, they are nice and sturdy, so you can handle the coins. Personally, I like the Krugerand better. The Eagle copies the design of the old US gold 20 dollar, so I just have one of those instead.
I recently bought 2 krugers, in the face of potential hard times ahead and long term investment. I also put the extra money down for kruger because it's worth more and globally recognised. The US (and other national) versions are only have a $100 face value.
Im also interested in them, the South African rand seems to not be doing well since the times of President Thabo Mbeki. Gold is definately one of the ways of protecting your moneys value. My question is, if you buy it, the rand goes down against the dollar, when u sell it, will u sell it at a price lower than what u bought it for? Or ull sell it at the value thatll be fair at that point in time. Plz explain iF U CAN.
@@fanelemabaso2514 The value of currency is irrelevant. You sell at the value of the coin's weight in gold. It doesn't matter if its Golden Eagle, Philarmoniker, Britannia or Maple Leaf. 1 oz of gold is 1 oz of gold.
Great album ^ but his best one in our humble opinion is "Rhythm of the Saints" where Simon injected sounds from the Brazilian Amazon to make the listener's ears smile.
@@sdbullion I'll have to check that one. Don't know why I haven't heard of that album. I guess I should have been more specific. The singing here reminds me of the African singers who sang the song "Homeless" on Paul Simon's Graceland album. Now I'll will definitely listen to this album you mentioned. If it's similar to Graceland, I'll like it.
This is an awesome video 😄makes me want to save up and buy a Krugerrand 👍🏼 just received from SD Bullion my first Britannia in the mail, but I think I like these better 👌🏼
Paul Kruger is not so revered anymore in post-apartheid South Africa. I always wondered why the ANC didn't replace his face on the coin with Nelson Mandela or someone like that, but I guess that the image of Mr. Kruger is so recognized by gold collectors that the ANC was worried that getting rid of it would tarnish the brand.
Still, Nelson Mandela is kind of universally loved. His effigy would have been perfect. That said, he was not a monarch, so probably wouldn’t want his face on coins, especially not during his lifetime.

I would rather have you not be political about Paul Krugger. Just discuss the coin. As much as he means something to White Afrikaaners resisting the British, he means absolutely the opposite to the Bapedi and other African people who he attempted to crush but luckily they defeated his armies even though he outnumbered them. Thats history not my opinion.
this company brought jobs to local africans, you should complain about the millions of modern african slaves and child soldiers instead of getting emotional about history

A people who will go to another people's land and make them servants to him is of the devil; there are no other words to describe this diabolic behavior.

This is one powerful video on the Krugerrand with that music choice. Almost makes me tear up thinking about the history ...
As a South African, it makes me sad to see how much value was produced from the resources of this land, and how little we have to show for it today.
Blame your government
Maybe if the people of SA didn't piss away their economy and trade a competent government for a shitty one, things might have turned out better, no?

Love that coin!
American GOLD Buffalo, then South Africain krugerrand, my two favorites.
Krugerrand was my first GOLD coin, both beautiful
Same. I'm not so fond of the color of the American Eagle.
