Coins from the Royal Mint are not suitable for collecting, as they often have many defects and scratches. Can you write which coins are flawless and come from the mint in capsules? Whats about Royal arma?

I’d like to collect the set but it’s hard enough to collect the Perth Mint dragon bar coins. Although those do come in fractional.

Think it’s 2 coins a year so probably January for the next one

Unintentionally, I did a similar thing when I first started to get silver bullion, I’d buy 2 of each, so I could display both sides, but I realized that the Obverse didn’t change much, so I liquidated one of each pair, got my money back and some🙆‍♂️🙆‍♂️. SS, I'm a new stacker and using it to diversify my investments as a younger man. Ive bought a 1oz minty kruger, with a 1% premium. So I'm thinking the coin is in decent condition like you've talked about, and has a low premium like you've mentioned. I now know its not CGT exempt which is a downside. But why would I choose a sovereign or Britannia with say, 2.5 or 3 percent premium on it over a 0.7/1 premium kruger, really? Sorry if you've answered this a lot but i really appreciate the knowledge. Thank you and keep up the videos mate. I can see, best value sovereigns are cheap on premium but still dont come close to kruger.

Some time ago I made a genuine purchase of a shield-back sovereign on ebay. The seller was on the South Coast of England. Two days later the very same photographs of that coin reappeared on ebay from a seller in the North East of England, and the bidding was already over £200. I reported this to ebay; the following day the listing disappeared, and I like to think I stopped a buyer from being scammed.

nowdays the biggest scam is selling ''proof coins'' from unknown mint even the know mints like rm, and when you try to sell them on other end reality kicks in and ofc loses of £1000s per coin

Almost All of these are general scams and not specific to hold scams per say. The only real one that’ll catch most people out is paying over the odds for a “rare” coin that’s worth bullion. Best of luck to all in your collecting journeys 🙌

My first 3-4oz were sovereigns or 1/4oz brits only later did i add 1oz Britannias . I bought a full tube of 1oz gold Britannia when the usa banks started failing as i was a little worried it might come over here too. Its just for a bit of extra piece of mind as the 80k fca protection isnt a real guarantee. it maybe fine if just 1 or 2 banks fail but if many do you are all screwed.

Much of the pre 1920 got melted down, during the early 70s and again during the 80s. Bus collectors were keeping them, and other people, and they got then, three times face value. Much of it then got shipped to Belgium, and holland and were melted, so nobody knows what is left now.

The increase in premium that you pay for fractional Gold is directly proportional to your preservation of the largest possible universe of buyers when it comes time to sell. You cannot assume who the buyer will be for your metal in the future, and you may not have easy access to anyone who can afford to buy a full ounce of Gold. You're always better off to stay under 1 ounce of Gold, despite any savings in premium that you might see. Anything that can be accomplished by a 1 ounce piece of Gold can be accomplished by two 1/2 ounce pieces of Gold or four 1/4 ounce pieces of Gold, and those pieces will be far more liquid and easier to move on an individual basis than your 1 ounce piece of Gold. I wouldn't say that you should NEVER own a 1 ounce Gold coin, but I would own large numbers of 1/10 and 1/4 ounce Gold coins, as well as at least several 1/2 ounce Gold coins, before I would ever countenance the purchase of a 1 ounce Gold coin. People will dismiss what I'm saying, for the most part, until the practical realities of trying to sell or move Gold become apparent in a crisis future that may or may not have all of the outlets we enjoy today. Just sayin'...

Where I'm from, fractional gold is incredibly liquid. The main shop I go to can't keep 1/10th ounce coins or smaller in stock. People don't care about the extra premium. It's just a much higher number of people that can/will spend the smaller amounts than the full ounce or larger pieces. I've been into the $5 US commems for the low premiums & the Perth Mint stuff just because I like it & it's sought after.

I still wonder how people will deal with all the gold they have at home later on. I mean, I have a few oz of gold now, but idk if I want to have any more gold at home... it starts to become a risk... You definitely have more that I do, so I'm wondering: do you ever worry about it getting stolen or lost? Edit: ah safety depositbox... nevermind lol. Oh and about premiums: I found out that if you're in the EU, the premiums when buying philharmonics directly from the Austrian mint is by far the lowest!

Maples & brittannias are next, 70-80 over, and 20-30 back on the sale.I like bars, 40-60 over, and paid 40-60 back, almost the same spread all in all. Happy stacking, cheers mate

(USA here) I’ve been a silver stacker for 8 years but would occasionally add a 1/10 gold coin (which ever coin was on sale) Then about 2 years ago I started really adding more 1/4oz gold to my silver stack.
