This is the sound I remember in my teens, when life was good and I had no worries and it was just music and driving my car, Listening to three dog night and these beautiful voices and these beautiful songs. And now they seem to have grown older and some are gone and I’m older too ; how can this be? How did 16 become 60 in the blink of an eye? How did so quickly, talented, vital ,young men become elderly and some die? I dream we’re really still back in the 70s.... these days now can’t be the reality; it was back then that we were who we are now; still. .. and Always. ..😢......🎵🎶🎵🎵🎶😢😭😭🎶🎵🎵🎵🎶♥️
I read in many sources, that Cory Wells did not indulge in drugs or alcohol. Remained married from 1964, till his death in 2015. Lived very modestly (unlike most rock stars). Returned to his roots in NY (yeah!), raised 2 daughters, and had grandchildren. Just thought I clarify this bit of info, don't like to see his name get dirty! RIP, Cory.......
I came online tonight to study nuclear fusion in low temperatures, after three hours I ended up here, WTF, I live in Scotland, I have never heard of this band until about 10 minutes ago, I will have to be more disciplined.
@Linda OBrien i am lying in my bed listening to the very concert you mentioned, great sound, I am a fan, big fan now, this beats writing a paper on fusing hydrogen absorbing into a metal catalyst, thanks for the tips. 😘
Cory Wells was a rock star but also a big family man one of his hobbies was fishing both at home and in fish tournaments with Roger Waters as his partner in these tournaments. He was very faithful to his loving wife and his kids. I hope he's resting in peace.
Gone are the days of the long haired hippie freaks that Rocked the youth of our country.....those were the days my friends we thought they would never end.....3 DOG NIGHT made us smile.....
First heard on the way home from a college football game on 11/1/1969 (dad didn't mind me changing to a rock and roll station on the radio) At the time "Easy to Be Hard" was still getting airplay. R.I.P. Cory Wells, Jimmy Greenspoon and recently Floyd Sneed who passed away last January.
It's shocking how fantastic this band was, I use to think it was Chuck's voice that was the best, however, now I see it as Cory's, but then again each one of them are or was in a league of their own!!!
Goodbye, Floyd, you were one of my favorites, the stuff you played, the fills you did, they all inspired me as a kid. You will be remembered, missed and mourned. I loved your stuff, man. I loved you, and we never met.
Another great tune written by the wonderful Laura Nyro ("Stoney End," "And When I Die," "Stone Soul Picnic," "Up On the Roof," "Wedding Bell Blues," and on and on, etc.) RIP (1947-1997)
On this day in 1969 {October 25th} Three Dog Night performed "Eli's Coming" on the ABC-TV Saturday afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... At the time "Eli's Coming" was in it's first week on Billboard's Top 100 chart at position #61, five weeks later it would peak at #10 {for 2 weeks} and it spent fourteen weeks on the Top 100... It reached #8 on the Canadian RPM Singles chart... "Eli's Coming" was composed by Laura Nyro... And on the same 'Bandstand' show they also performed "Easy To Be Hard", at the time it was at position #18 on the Top 100, four weeks earlier it had peaked at #4 {for 2 weeks} and it stayed on the chart for thirteen weeks... Between 1969 and 1975 the California band had twenty one records on the Top 100, eleven made the Top 10 with three reaching #1, "Mama Told Me Not To Come" for 2 weeks in 1970, "Joy To The World" for 6 weeks in 1971, and "Black and White" for 1 week in 1972... Member Cory Wells, born Emil Lewandowski, passed away at the age of 74 on October 28th, 2015... May both he and Laura Nyro {1947 - 1997} R.I.P.
they were so dam good looking Cory and Danny, OMG! yes they were , and so young and high; yes they were high but, I still love them Forever , have and awesome trip Cory RIP,,...
There is an episode of the short-lived sitcom "Sports Night" that uses the opening of this song very effectively. The title of the ep is "Eli's Coming".
The song is written by the Bronx child prodigy and genius singer/songwriter Laura Nyro, from her 2nd LP 'Eli and the Thirteenth Confession' (1968), universally rated by critics as a masterpiece. Her 3rd LP 'New York Tendaberry' (1969) is rated even higher. Nyro wrote many of her best songs while still a teenager. Nyro was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame in 2012 by Bette Midler. She is regarded by the music industry as one of its greatest ever talents. Just about every artist, producer and musician is/was a fan, from Miles Davis to Leonard Bernstein, to Alice Cooper, to Elton John, to Prince, to REM, to Kanye West, and every female singer/songwriter from Joni Mitchell.
After Al Kooper, Laura was asked to front BS&T, but she declined. One thing that might have stymied Laura as a performer was she perceived to have faltered when she performed at Monterey Pop Festival. There is a brief clip of her finishing up "Wedding Bell Blues"and singing "Poverty Train" and some joker yells something. Most reports had that she was well-received for her performance save for the one joker. Michelle Phillips was tabbed to drive Laura around to get some air (and smoke a joint or two) to calm her down. Michelle said that caused her to miss Otis Redding's set
It's far from gone. Up until this yr. he sang regular gigs. Maybe can't hit all the high notes but a Wonderful Man who worked hard to change his life. He's Happy now with a Beautiful wife. Like him on Facebook. He's Genuine 💗
+BarbieMak225 Danny has always said no. Chuck burned a lot of bridges. Seems to me, it's time for the remaining two to just do it for the fans & leave the ego's at the gate. I still cannot think of a band more beloved than TDN. jmo
Definitely it's Danny, Chuck has reached out to him, Danny is not a forgiving person😔 Chuck is Happy, Married and still was singing up till this last yr. To bad Danny is a turd, Cory and Chick talked before he passed, it went well. I'm so glad they did💗
These guys must have loved Syracuse. I'd go with Oswego for my money. Or maybe Jamestown. Nice area up there and home to some of the country's best and well known musical talent.
I also saw them in Utah at Lagoon in 1969. They put on one of the best vocal perfomances I've ever seen. All three singers had superb voices and they had thrilling harmonies !
How I wish I could still tell Cory that he is my IDOL. What a voice. When all 3 dogs are together they're unbeatable. WOW
You can. Just do it.
Cory passed away in 2015🌈🙏
I did, but it would be a better world with him in it.
soulful voice
I had the biggest crush on him...miss him so much!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤

@Linda OBrien Them and Chicago were hit machines of the 70's
@Linda OBrien Originally saw Chicago in 71 and TDN 72 just before joining the service
Sweet Cory Wells! You are missed everyday. I miss the days where harmony and the beautiful, soulful voices were the only thing important!
All 3 have amazing voices!
My childhood. Thank you guys, you were great.
3 dog night was my first concert that I saw in 1972 at the Forum. I was 15 years old. Just incredible
My first concert was 3 Dog Night at the Las Vegas Convention Center in 1970. Magical. I was 15 and I couldn’t believe I was seeing my idols play.
Cory was the soul of the group and I still miss him. What a versatile voice he had.
Cory Wells was a rock star but also a big family man one of his hobbies was fishing both at home and in fish tournaments

My favorite was Chuck Negron’s accent vocals, but they each contributed a lot
One of the all time premier 70s bands , Chuck,Corey, Danny and the band sang and played their many hits for us
My favorite voice of the three is Chuck, but they all are excellent singers, individually or together!
Best Vocals of any American(or otherwise) group in history!!! Cory was the BIG DOG....awesome RIP Cory Wells, Love You!!!
thomas grim um no. Chuck Negron was.
Cory Wells, better performer, voice- THE best!!
Their music takes me back to the best days of my life.
RIP Cory Wells~loved this band, glad I got to see them in the 70's.
Goodbye, Floyd, you were one of my favorites, the stuff you played, the fills you did, they all inspired me as a kid. You will be remembered, missed and mourned. I loved your stuff, man. I loved you, and we never met.
The great Cory Wells. RIP.
Chuck you can really sing. Great voice. Never stop. You are number ONE.
Another great tune written by the wonderful Laura Nyro ("Stoney End," "And When I Die," "Stone Soul Picnic," "Up On the Roof," "Wedding Bell Blues," and on and on, etc.) RIP (1947-1997)

Versatile group and great sound!
You never knew what was coming next, but always great!
Super band of the late 60's to mid 70's. Several classics. Eli is one. Negron was the best of the vocals.

Right , she wrote " When I Die ", sung by Blood , Sweat , and Tears , and many other songs . She was a great talent ,
"Sweet Blindness" and "Stoned Soul Picnic" by the 5th Dimension and "Stony End" by Barbara Streisand.
After Al Kooper, Laura was asked to front BS&T, but she declined.
One thing that might have stymied Laura as a performer was she perceived to have faltered when she performed at Monterey Pop Festival. I enjoy Nyro's singing version of this, too.
Back when rock and rollers could actually sing and these guys sang better than most..
Chuck wore that same shirt when they appeared in Rochester (90 miles from Syracuse) that summer.
While they all had great voices in 3 dog night, Chuck Negron had a voice that was so versitile and beautiful ...but it's gone now!
It's far from gone. Up until this yr. he sang regular gigs. Maybe can't hit all the high notes but a Wonderful Man who worked hard to change his life. He's Happy now with a Beautiful wife. Like him on Facebook. He's Genuine 💗
Chuck negron!! A broken heart.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TDN LOVERS.
This is a GREAT performance. I'm from Syracuse and would love to know why this was recorded.
These guys must have loved Syracuse. I'd go with Oswego for my money. Or maybe Jamestown. Nice area up there and home to some of the country's best and well known musical talent.
They were sooooooooo high!

I seen them twice one in Utah and again in Jackpot Nevada, I touched Cory's arm,
