  • In this tutorial, I demonstrate how to cut out the inside and outside of stamped images using the Brother Scan N’ Cut. For this tutorial, I used the Crafting Forever stamp set by Stampin' Up. I stamped the scissors in Basic Black ink onto Whisper White card stock. I used a blade depth of 5. First, I used the Direct Cut feature to cut out the scissors with an outline distance. Then, I left the scissors on the mat and did not remove the mat for the next step. Next, I used Scan to Cut Data feature. I used the second option which saves the inside and outside of the scissors. I selected just the top region of the scissors and saved that region. I saved the file to the Brother ScanNCut and then clicked on the Home button. I selected the Pattern option and retrieved the scissors. I then went into editing mode to remove everything but the inside of the scissors. I zoomed in so that my viewers could see what was saved. After clicking OK, I cut out just the inside of the scissors. At this point, I removed the mat to show my crafty friends the finished product. What may seem like a lot of steps is worth it in the end because your cut images will look professional and you will not need to spend time fussy cutting. Thank you so much for this video! I figured out a long way to do this by uploading it into the software, I didn't know there was an editing mode on the machine!!!!!

      I used to use the Canvas program all of the time. Then, I figured out the the reason I love the Brother ScanNCut so much is that I don't even need to be connected to a computer like I do with the Cricut. Now, I use it more as a stand-alone machine than anything else. Thanks for your comment.

    What’s funny is I was just working on something just like this, tho different stamp set, 30 minutes before picking up my iPad to see if I could find a video on utube with my exact question and wha-la, there you are in the very first video I chose. You answered my question of ‘can I’ and gave me the ‘how-to’ all in the same video. Your videos are so precise and easy to follow and your explanations of why you choose what you choose are just what I need. Thank you.

      Jean Powell Your comment made my day. I actually base a lot of my videos on questions or challenges my subscribers face. Im also working on a compressive course on the Brother ScanNCut which has been requested by multiple people. Stay tuned for that.

      Oops, I mean a comprehensive course. I guess I better spell it right if I'm going to teach it.

    Thank you so much great video. I’m a bit confused doesn’t take much lol. I watched your first video to cut inside and out so couldn’t you do it that way for the scissors sorry I’m a newbie

    • @PaperedChef
      @PaperedChef  6 років тому

      Norine Mueller Oh yes, I can understand the confusion. The anchor is clean in that there is just one round shape which we had to remove. The scissors were made up of several lines and therefore, it took some work editing it in order to remove the inside.

    Hi ya from England, can you do an outline for the inside ? Thanks 🙏🏼

    • @PaperedChef
      @PaperedChef  6 років тому

      Jayc, thanks for watching. I haven't figured out an easy way to do this yet so I welcome anyone who can comment on how. The hard way to do it (and yes, it is possible) is to save those cutting files to the computer. Then, inside of the the Brother Canvas application, you could scale it. Then, you would have to make sure that your images stay in the same place so that the shapes that are scaled down (inner outline) would be positioned correctly. So, to me that is too many steps but I will challenge myself to figure out a better way.
