    Another tip you might like to try that works really, really well:
    I tape off the outside perimeter of my ScanNCut mat with painter tape. Spray the grid part of the mat with Odif 505 temporary fabric adhesive. Once it's dry, it's good to go for many, many cuts without needing to spray each time. Works like a charm!

    • @_MyInkieFingers
      @_MyInkieFingers  3 роки тому +13

      Thanks for the Tip. I think I'll just stick with my Aleene's. It doesn't leave any residue, there's no maintenance, and when I need to cut I can pop on the paper and just cut without hassle. I'm so lazy with things like that so this hack suits me so well. Spray n Go! Haha However, I certainly appreciate you taking the time to comment to let me know what you've found. Sharing is caring. Happy Cutting ❤️😁

    The tip about the “smoothing” button/icon on the machine just blew me away. I was not a fan of the way the machine made sharp turns and cuts that I would have to fussy cut to make smooth. I must have skipped that in the instruction manual. Your tip was a total game changer and I am back in love with my scan and cut. Oh! And not to mention the fact that I won’t have to buy more mats! What I have been using for the past year now is an elmers glue stick. I rub some on the back edges of my project and sometimes in the middle if I'm using the entire mat and stick to my matt, it works every time. No sprays, no fumes no mess. Try it you might change from thoses expensive cans of spray to just a simple glue stick. When cutting the test cut is to test the blade depth and pressure this is particularly important when you are doing a kiss cut for stickers.

    I've said it before about your other hacks and it applies again here ......GENIUS! I actually stopped using my Scan N Cut because I got fed up with cleaning the mats off and reapplying sticky, then finding it was worse than just leaving it alone and using masking or washi tape to stick my images to the mat. This is a game changer. I only have Pixie Spray here, but I just tried it and it worked a treat without leaving any residue. My old mat has one advantage though - I used Eucalyptus Oil on it about a year ago and removed all of the sticky off it, so now mine is just a plain (printed) plastic sheet, so it doesn't collect so many of the artifacts from previous cuts as a sticky one does. (I hope all that made sense.) Anyone who is adventurous enough to try this themselves, just a wee warning - don't go outside of the cutting part of the mat, it is possible the Eucalyptus Oil might smudge or remove some of the black printing. It did on the first old mat I tried it on, but didn't on the new one I later bought....go figure eh? I love your vids, I always learn something new, or get inspired. You're a great teacher. 💕

    • @_MyInkieFingers
      @_MyInkieFingers  3 роки тому +2

      It is a game changer isn't it?! 😎 I'm sorry, but all those people that say to re-stick it with this, that, or the other don't think about us stampers that just finished coloring an image only to find our mat isn't sticky and need to cut it out NOW! Not in 3 or 4 hours after I've cleaned my mat and tried to re-stick it, then let it dry. . What a total P.I.T.A!! (Pain in the ---) 🤣🤣🤣 So glad it helped you Annie 😁💗

      It truly is amazing how many confusing videos there are out there. I think they are confusing because the person doing the tutorial pushes the wrong button several times, then stumbles upon the right one, then regresses because they forgot a step they should have done. It is extremely frustrating. Now, I have never filmed a tutorial so maybe it is easy to make those kind of mistakes, but isn’t that what editing is for? Thanks for a straight forward easy to follow tutorial.

Then people wonder why it takes me up to 8+ hrs to edit, upload, write a description, create links, write a blot post... Yadda yadda. Hi Dawn, I wash my mats all the time & you can gently soak & scrub-brush off any paper residue. I usually restick them with the blue zig glue (wide tip) watered down, so it's ok to do that on a wet mat, avoiding borders. Let dry 36 hrs or use blow dryer. If they are too sticky, blot with a t-shirt & remember to dilute more next time. However, I LOVE Cindy's spray tacky glue idea! Must shop for it ASAP! Your mat isn't ruined ;)

    All DX machines can only feed their mats in one direction. The edge with the arrow is the feed edge. The cutout triangular shape is for hanging the mat. Usually how it is marketed in stores. Test cut simply makes a small cut in a portion of the material that you select on the screen. There are different basic shapes to choose from. It lets you know if your settings will successfully cut the material you've loaded before committing time & possibly wasted effort if the settings aren't good enough. The plastic stylus they include isn't really necessary. You can use your finger or finger nail to control the menu options. You can even press and swipe up or down to scroll the screen's options but only if there is a series of menu arrows presented on the screen.
    Be careful not to roll your mat too much because once you get a crease in it good luck flattening it back out.

    I just plot with Silhouette machines, but the not sticky mats are the same there. First it was so strong that I needed to fuss it with a towel, otherwise it would rip the paper when I try to pick it up and then some uses later its not sticky enough. On things like your example I use washitape to stick it to the mat.
    When its a little more complicated and could slip around while cutting I use a newer mat. I should try your trick, thanks for sharing
