Yeah, last year if I recall. Note: my comment was not meant to make a joke about his passing, just commenting from experience that a leather couch rarely survives long when you have a cat around.
I never have more fun on a Friday anywhere than I do with you guys on the old leather couch, especially around this spooky time of the year. Thanks basement crew!
I know this is a long shot and probably pointless, but I was hoping you could give a memorial shout out to my best friend Nick. I know it would be a big thing for him to know his favorite youtubers honored his memory. Sorry to bring this here.

Nice show y’all! The Haunting is my favorite horror movie and one that still frightens me. I am sure that ghosts exist and the way that movie is shot and scripted is so good. The real question is..is the house really haunted or are people just crazy. So. Good!!!
Man lives in the sunlit world of what he believes to be reality. But there is, unseen by most, an underworld. A place that is just as real, but not as brightly lit. A darkside! Oh how I loved that tv show, and movie as well! Great choice :-D
Thanks for the memory refresh. For years I swore that there was a story in the Stephen King movie Cat's Eye where a cat crawls into someones mouth. I was wrong about the movie but totally right that it did happen in a movie once
I remember watching this in the theatre and having the same reaction you guys had. I laughed just as hard now as I did back then... especially about the baby gargoyles!
The 3rd story is my favorite one. It is the only one I remember when thinking of this movie. It is sort of a precursor of 1 of the stories in VHS which is my fav of that film.
I watched Creepshow 2 two days ago on Amazon Prime because I wasn't sure if I had seen it or not...still not sure if I had seen it but I am sure I've seen it now, lol. After that I started watching Tales From The Darkside and then remembered I had just watched it a couple of years ago and decided to watch something else...so I watched Total Recall which I know I haven't seen it in over a decade. I was pretty surprised when I saw the title of this video because of coincidence and whatnot, lol.
The Japanese folk tale it's based on was Woman of the Snow, which was brilliantly filmed in the 1964 film Kwaidan, and it's ending there is more poignant than the one here
The version I know is Yuki Onna, or The Snow Woman. It's also depicted in a 4-part anthology film from Japan called Kwaidan. It's a pretty cool movie if you've got like three or four hours to kill.
I saw a version of this story on a PBS show called something like Myth Quest. In that version, it was a vampire. Maybe it could have been a snow woman in the original?
@@cosmicorder2 "Kwaidan" is pretty old , and based on an even older book. It's possible that the book is actually the origin. The folklorist collected a lot of folklore stories, but it's pretty well-known that he kind of invented a few also.
I was wondering if you guys could cover Leptirica. Don't know much about it but I would like to and I can't find anywhere to watch it. I think it's kind of like Valerie and Her Week of Wonders.
11:17 Well, this video just got demonetized. (Actually I think none of these videos are monetized, but I’m sure someone at UA-cam blew a gasket over that.)
Matt. The 3rd story of Tales From the Darkside is most likely based on the story of the Yuki-Onna(Snow girl). It's a guy traveling with his friend in a blizzard. The Yuki-Onna comes and kills his friend (some versions his friend drops dead in the blizzard). The Yuki-Onna takes care of the protagonist and makes him swear that he must never yada yada yada. The Yuki-Onna goes exactly the same way TFtD does story, only in the ending, the Yuki-Onna flies off and leaves the protagonists and their human children and does not kill the protagonist. So his punishment is that he must become A SINGLE FATHER!!! THE HORROR!!!
As a kid I watched the movie Mousehunt with William Hickey many many times. I always thought Andrew Jackson on the American $20 bill looked so much like him that I could never escape the association. To this day, I think of them as Hickeys.

Have you guys ever seen "The tale of the princess Kaguya" (Isao Takahata, 2013)? Extremely well done, really touching....My favourite Studio Ghibli's production.
I saw this film on Fox back in the 90s at the age of 7 until the part where the gargoyle rips off her skin. A year later I saw it again and laughed so hard when I saw the gargoyle babies. Although it didn't scary me past the age of 7 I still think of a mummy breaking into a house when I see a glass door.
With Chris Morris releasing his new title This Day Shall Come, please please please (if you haven’t already) watch his masterpiece comedy Four Lions. It was filmed nearly entirely in my home town of Sheffield in the north of England, and somehow makes a highly controversial subject extremely funny whilst being thought provoking. I cannot stress enough how much you need to see it, and if it makes it into your show I’ll be over the moon. Lots of love from the UK, Charlie Steele
It was great to hear Craig’s thoughts on Hereditary. Have you seen Director Ari Aster’s most recent film, Midsommar? I’d also be interested in your thoughts on Aster’s student film, The Strange Thing About the Johnsons, if you’ve seen it.

It doesn’t matter how stylized or realistic it is, I will never EVER be able to handle gore in movies. It upsets my sensibilities and stomach without fail. I wouldn’t say it scares me though, just gives me intense heebie jeebies. Gore is to horror what dating montages are to romance. They’re quick ways of getting across the genre’s vibe completely visually, and usually being a way to move along the plot without the need for characters to actually develop.
The third story is based on the Japanese legend of the Yuki-onna, or snow woman (most likely the version popularized by Lafcadio Hearn). It's almost beat for beat the same as the story in the movie, with the exception of the Yuki-onna sparing the man's life for the sake of her children (as well as the modern setting, obviously).
What are your favourite frame stories for compilation films? They usually feel like a poor excuse to convince you that you're watching a complete film, but I really love the frame story of 1945's Dead of Night. The way it ends is one of spookiest and most memorable horror scenes I've ever seen.
