I would say an important tip for a beginner is to know you’re going to need a lot of duct tape when crafting up your gear and weapons. Water + bones = glue, Glue + cloth = duct tape. So horde all the water, bones, glue, cloth and duct tape you can find until your gear is leveled up. Cloth tends to be the overlook ingredient, it can found in curtains, clothing, furniture. Toward end game brass becomes bottleneck for ammo crafting especially AP ammo. I would recommend holding on as much brass as you can in preparation for end game. Wood doors, scrapping radiators (found in cars, air conditioners and heating radiators), sinks (the wash basins are more), piles of trash. Often smelting the dukes directly into brass becomes a valid tactic when you’re flushed with dukes, 1 duke = 1 brass, 5 brass = 1 shell casing. So it’s never worth buying brass and unless you are able to buy 1 bullet case for 5 dukes or less it’s not worth buying them either. Just throw your money into the fire.😂
A variation on double looting for solo play is not quite clearing a POI (don't kill the last zombie or pick up the supplies) then exiting the game and logging back in. This resets the quest so you can loot the POI as many times as you want. This is most useful with Crack a Book for getting magazines. Definitely a cheese tactic but the game rules do allow it.
Best tip I've received is to abuse the infinite water supply using the water mod for your helmet. In your base, either dig a hole or put a block with a circle cutout down and fill it with water using a bucket, you now have an unlimited amount of water in your base and with the mod you now have water anywhere in the world since murky water is everywhere.
in my opinion the best way to spend your first 5 set of points is to invest 3 levels into the perk path you want to focus on, and then 2 into the weapon in that perk path. For example if you want to focus on clubs (the easiest for new players) you will first get 3 points into Strength and then 2 into Pummel Pete

@Bluerim_ regardless of the weapon tree I'm going down my first 3 points going into 1 strength and 2 miner 69 because just that small investment gives you such a huge advantage in you block damage and stamina usage in the early game where you struggle with it the most
Side tip for skill books, focus on one skill set at a time and when you've maxed all you want reset your point with the elixer and spec into another one. This is so you don't keep getting mags for skills you have maxed out (the book skills)

Selling books you read earns you money and XP. My first points go to the lucky looter for the faster looting speed, which slowly but surely saves you a lot of time searching
I’ve never really invested into Lucky Looter but I might try it out! Being able to loot even just a little quicker must be nice especially if you are looting in places like Crack-a-Book hahaha
6:22 if you want specific books you need to invest into a specific book. To get more vehicle magazines and get a motorbike early on invest into grease monkey, as it increases the chance of finding vehicle adventures in the loot pool
Building a Raid Base at one of the 4 sides of a trader will protect you from one side for free as long as there arent any doors present on said side. You will probably get into the game and watch more videos about Zombie pathfinding and AI, but until than this will give you only 3 sides to worry about for the time that your raid base is literally just a chunk of wood.
Loved this game on ps4 saw it for the 5 and noticed it was redone like the version I saw off steam so I copped it really love the beta right now but you know what I’ve always felt was needed but never really touched on was the use of npc bandits so you aren’t just killing the same zombies over and over you can battle it out with people who want to raid your base with guns or something making them a lethal threat which to me would be a great addition to the quests from the traders too seeing as there’s bounty posters it would be cool to do bounty quests
Yeah, we definitely need enemies that aren't just animals & zombies but the good news is The Fun Pimps have confirmed they are bringing bandits in the "Long Road Ahead" update. can you do a structural integrity guide if it's been updated from the last gen. version. I keep having problems with my bases collapsing at random times, I can build nearly the same building with the same material in the same location and it will collapse anytime after 17 days without any additions, I make all of my walls and floors two layers thick like you used to have to on the PS4/xbox1 versions, did they change it now?

Does the difficulty of the building matter if you decide to take over? I'm on console, my friend and I decided take over this house that had the boar boss underneath, be cleared it and I put my land claim down, day 5 came and 2 screamers appeared, the forge nore campfire were running and we didn't have many torches. We cleared the zombies and started building our defenses and then zombies started spawning inside the land claim zone, the difficultly of the place is 3 heads I don't know if that matters or what but we moved home bases
Great Question! The difficulty doesn’t matter as long as you make sure you clear all the zombies in the POI & place a land claim block in the base with a bedroll if possible. If you are still having zombies spawning in your base occasionally then you need to up the range land claim blocks cover which you can do in I believe the multiplayer settings for the world. Me & some friends took over a huge military base & made it safe, it took a lot of effort but now it’s brilliant. theres this bug ive been having since legacy. any time i have unspent skill points they would disappear when i level up. it was even worse back then since they wouldn’t stack either, so if i had 3 and received 10 from leveling up i would have only have 10.
Yeah I used to think that also but I was corrected on it, like ChairMD mentioned Wasteland Volume makes it so normal trees have a chance to give you honey. :)
At the harvesting quicker, the video is misleading to the info. What he means is looking away from the animal, right-clicking, and looking at the animal. You get a stabbing animation, which harvests like normal. While also being much much faster than just harvesting normally.

Sorry I thought that would have been common knowledge, all you have to do is select the block then press the rotate button (which is R on PC, Square on PlayStation & X I believe on Xbox) if you still can’t get the correct position then you might need to select “Advanced Rotation” it’s accessible in the same way you access or find other shapes. :) Also another note I failed to mention, you’ll need to upgrade the block to wood as it won’t allow you to drink water unless you do!
@@ItsCatmanjoe yea if you rotate it’s still sideways even in advanced rotation. I just took regular square blocks and made a mini pool. In the previous legacy version the water disappeared if you drank it. This one it does not. Thanks for the tip but you can’t set it upright on console.

The games are nothing alike. State of decay is just a lot easier. It a button mashing zombie game like days gone.
