In Australia this Expobar sells for around AUD2600 and Profitec 600 for AUD3800, so they are not in the same league and obviously expect Profitec 600 to be better built. I ended up buying Expobar and for that price you get so much real estate that can not be rivalled by any other brand for a dual boiler. It is like a beast, 2mm thick SS body, huge 2x1.5lr boilers so can make lots and lots of coffee one after one. It take about 4 minuet for the boiler to heat-up and another 4 minute for brew boiler to reach the temp, but I leave it longer to heat the group-head. I did not experience most of the issues you raised about the machine. Its reinfusion chamber is smart. I was a bit hesitant to buy it after seen the review, but I am more than happy that I bought this machine.

This is a timely video for me as my Brewtus IV is in for repair (again) and I'm thinking of buying either a new Brewtus IV or a Profitec 600 or 700 (or a Rocket). I don't think the outcome of the test was ever in doubt given that the Brewtus design is about 10 years old and, in the UK, £550 ($710) cheaper than the 600! Good vid though - many thanks.

2 things. 1. A cold portafilter will pour differently. 2. Timing the shot should begin when the pour starts; 25-30 seconds from first drips for 2oz. I have a Prof and love it.

@@danielmedley3486 When single dosing with the e6p, a standard 58mm tamper or distribution tool will fit the top hole to stop the beans from popcorning up. I'm using my distribution tool and it works great. It would be awesome if they made a small single or double dosing funnel that fit that unit. The hopper it comes with is huge. It's convenient to fill it up but to be honest the grind time to output ratio changes after the beans sit in the hopper and it's a pain to dial it in all the time. With single dosing, you can leave the grind setting alone, unless you change bean vendors. You'll like the e6p, it seems like a workhorse.

Awesome video man! Dont get quality customer reviews this often. But in regards to shot time on your brewtus, correct me if I'm wrong, but most expobars takes longer to pull a shot due to the way the e61 group head is milled under the shower screen. It's intended to create a even preinfusion but when you flip that lever, there is extra space that must be filled before coffee can start dripping. Overall, awesome video, boss!

The Brewtus is a great machine, especially for the money! I think the Pro 600 is a better machine for sure but it's $500 or so more so that has to factor in. If money was that tight I would be happy with the Brewtus for sure. If the money difference isn't a deal breaker then the 600 is, in my opinion, the best machine (non-plumbed) for most homes. I think the smaller boiler size makes the super quick heat up time beat out the larger units, to be honest. It's awesome.

Being able to be plumbed in was a dealbreaker for me. As a proud owner of a Brewtus IV for about 7 years now, I can give it a solid thumbs up. The repairability is superb on this thing. As time goes on something is going to need maintenance or repair! After about 5 years the little plastic line going from the brew boiler to the brew head started leaking. I ordered replacement parts, but the replacement started leaking after about 8 months. So what I did was go to the hardware store and upgraded the line from 1/8 to 1/4 and put in good quality quickconnects and haven't had a problem since.... If I were to do it over again I would use flared copper tubing to replace the one plastic line from the brew boiler.

After watching your videos I ended up buying the 600. I also purchased the sette 270wi since I knew how to fix the static issue and it produced super fluffy grinds. Loved that part. But I had a couple of issues with it and decided to exchange it with the ceado 6p. It was a surprise to feel how heavy this grinder is compared to the sette. It’s a quality build for sure! Thank you for making these videos. It’s so nice to see you go through your process and point out the little things newbies wouldn’t necessarily think about. I do have a question though .... did your ceado start out producing clumpy grinds because mine did and I was told to run a couple bags of cheap coffee through it to season it.

I don't think it produced clumpy grinds when I first got it. What coffee are you using? I use Nicoletti Espresso roast. You can get on Ebay, it's super fresh, roasted in New York. The Sette did produce super fluffy grinds and it's known for that. I think the Ceado is a much better grinder though. Your right, it's built like a tank. I love how you can single dose with it by using that dist tool or tamper trick for the top. I'll never go back to using the hopper now lol.

The 600 is a little more compact than the 700. Smaller boiler so heats up super quick. I knew I would only be making a few drinks at a time so the 600 was definitely a better fit for me. They are both awesome machines though! If your making 4-5 drinks at a time then I'd probably go the 700 route or Syncronika. If your making a few at a time with the occasional 4 to 5 then the 600 is the perfect sweet spot! For the water level.... there is no indicator. I usually just top it off as part of my daily routine so it hasn't been an issue at all.

Do you like the positioning of the PID screen on the Pro 600? Seems like the 600, 700, and Synchronika have the PID in that position down just above the steam gauge, while the Lucca M68V2 has it up high. As a beginner, I have a feeling I'll be relying on that timer, too, so I want to make sure it's in a comfortable position.

    • @ComputerProMedia
      @ComputerProMedia  4 роки тому +1

I think I would like the gauges higher like the Syncronika but i'm used to them now. For the PID... I don't know to be honest. It's hard to imagine it in a high position since i've been using this for a while now. I can tell you that the position is totally fine for me while in use. When I think about it, I do watch the output as it's pouring out and my scale underneath which is what I actually go by. Since the PID is near the bottom it feels very natural looking at the scale, the flow and the PID since they are all near each other. If it was on top I would be jumping from the top to the bottom quite a bit. If you look at my newer videos I'm always using the scale and would never not use it. In the end I think any position would probably work once you got used to it but I can tell you i'm very, very happy with the Pro 600!

I would change the grinder I selected out, because it's not intuitive getting back to your grind setting if you change it. It comes does to technique and grind .. gotta get a good grind and tamp correctly .. after that the machine does the rest. It's an Apple watch with a Leatherman Tread band. (the smaller size band, large size is huge!). The band has tools on it like glass breaker, screwdrivers, etc. amzn.to/2LkFyed

I don't see how you can call 35 min a brief overview! Good coverage though.

True... Weight of grind & weight of the espresso and timer is the recipe. Maybe a smaller collection cup too, less cooling. .

The reason the expobar has a slow start whit extracting a shot is because it’s doing a pre in fusion standard it’s the way the brew group is built.
You’re not doing your homework before a review 😠 a lot of things you say is negative for the expobar and they both are excellent machines but you’re review isn’t.

Not sure what your talking about? They both extract at roughly the same speed. The Expobar has a pre-infustion chamber that just disperses water evenly after pressure builds up in the grouphead. Both units have E61 groups obviously but the Expobar has the dispersion unit inside theirs. It does not affect shot timing so i'm not sure where you thought I said it did lol. I do an E61 style pre-infuse with both units. I also said both machines were great units multiple times so not sure where the negative for the Expobar is coming from? When comparing the two, obviously the Profitec is a better made, higher end unit as it should be since It's almost a thousand dollars more than the Expobar. In the video I mention that my choice (based on my needs and budget) resulted in my purchase of the Profitec but I would be perfectly happy with the Expobar if budget was a factor. My Expobar Brewtus had a plastic smell so that was another factor why I chose the Profitec. So not sure the homework comment was warranted lol but it's all good, I wish you all the best in your coffee endeavors.

I don't know how you perceived the negativity Marco as I didn't pick up on any. The Profitech is a better machine and it should be due to a much higher price. In saying that the Brewtus is still a good machine however the quality is not as good which is reflected in the much lower price. The more you pay the better the build. Negative review?, no way.
