    Nice job! Great seeing my hood! I live on the other side of that large blue boat in Cudjoe Gardens. A couple of points from an old Captain who’s “been there, done that”. Slip on a dead man switch and wear a PFD next time you’re alone or with someone who can’t handle a boat. Sets a good example for your novice viewers and could save your ass one day.

    • @jeffrandolf5673
      @jeffrandolf5673 Місяць тому +6

      Absolutely. I've seen a few videos & heard stories where a steering component failed at high speeds & the boat took a sharp turn & launched a few out of the boat. Rare, but it happens.
      I delivered sail & power boats in the 80's,90's. Never wore a PFD. Even when we or I alone was motoring at 6 knotts.

    I soloed deliveries a couple times but usually i required the client to pay for a mate too. Even on a manageable boat like a center console, thats a long day to do yourself! I love my garmin inreach, if I am by myself on ANY boat (even my own) i wear my inflatable vest with my PLB on it.
    THat boat sure is pretty though! Nice video, am a subscriber now!

    Nice job captain girlfriends prayers we're awesome. I'm 63 years old Tampa Bay is my home Waters from the Skyway to Homosassa. 75% of my fishing was offshore 50 to 100 MI before they were GPS and epirbs we navigating off a compass and charts and time we always watch the weather report and wind always left a float plan describing the area we were going the boat and how many on board if we weren't back a certain time immediately called the Coast Guard don't wait till morning my dad told me when I was young respect the water and it will respect you thank God we always made it home

    Great video! One thing I want to add is with all your safety gear (which is great) I can't understand why you're not wearing an inflatable PFD? Especially when you are all by yourself. I'm certain it's not because of he the cost. I'm 67 YO and I'm sure I've spent a few more days out on the water than you have and I'm guilty of the same thing. I learned much later in life how important wearing a PFD device is. Way too many things can happen that are simply out of your control The prepared boater is the one most likely to make it back alive. Get yourself one. There are some fantastic choices and models out there now-a-days. It's like seat belts... after awhile you won't even know you're wearing one.

    It's been a couple decades ago, but I left out of Crystal River to take my bosses 38' Pacemaker to Key West for the Month, so he could fly down on weekends to fish during July!
    Id left at sunrise with a favorable tide and just before dusk got a weather report saying a skull was expected. We were off Venice Inlet, where I had grown up (Venice Nokomis) when it started blowing and the seas got pretty large in minutes, there were 3 of us because I wanted to run around the clock, but it was getting hard to stay on course. The auto pilot was overpowered and we were really catching hell so I dropped the hook. Within 10 to 15 minutes we were all on the sole, the best way to describe what we went through would be to like it to bring picked up 3 to 4 ft and dropped every few seconds and that squall, turned into.an all night body bashing. Weather had said it'd be severe but short squall, that it was not large and moving quickly so I believed it'd only be fifteen to twenty minutes, but it went on all night. We couldn't get up, we couldn't walk around, we were stuck splayed out on the sole. We were all healthy and in great shape but the beating we took, lack of sleep, meant when the storm subsided, it was early morning and the sun was up, but we all slept for several hours. Got up around noon and did a systems check on all equipment, checked for leaks and headed out. When we got to Key West Bight Marina it took a day and a half to get the boat back in shape. Pacemakers are very overbuilt so the hull looked new, everything else! Brackets, cabinet hinges and latches, the Port lights that opened and closed, it'd be quicker to tell you what didn't need fixed!
    Anyway, I can't count the number of times I've been to Key West, but I've never been by Car, and that trip, was worse than all other trips combined!

Solo need Dead man sw. and PFD use inflatable ones as they are hardly noticeable while wearing and pack small, suggest a hand held waterproof VHF attached to the PFD, small eprib is great, Must wear safety gear at all times you are on board solo, it's sound boatmanship. If its brand new why are you not shipping it on a trailer to them vs beating the crap out of it driving it down there in the ocean of which you said yourself , “ I’ll have to probably be pretty hard on this boat to get it down here”? If i was the owner of a brand new expensive boat like this? That would be the last thing id want to hear…….

      I think it is a valid question.I'd be concerned about engine break-in. Not sure about other brands but Yamaha wants a varied speed/r.p.m. over a certain amount of time. Also, that T-top post vibration/movement at around 18 min. is disconcerting.

    Why not trailer farther south. Quicker, less fuel, and probably safer. Here’s your like new boat!! Let’s change the oil.

    I was pretty sure the net behind you was going to be missing in the shot after a while. While I know you had enough fuel, wouldn't it have been cheaper to top off in Marco, grab lunch, and head to Key West, or is fuel cheaper in the Keys than I remember?
