So I really think that I go into this unnaturally deep voice whenever I feel like I have to seem more professional. Thank you so much for helping me realise this!

When I was a teenager (14-15 years old) I realised how irritatingly high and childish my voice was (I heard it on the tape and was absolutely mortified) Since then I've tried to lower my voice and now it's the only way I can speak. However it is completely destroying my voice - I cannot sing at all anymore and after speaking a bit more (like 30 minutes), even my speaking voice gets raspy and starts to vanish. It's a problem not only with my friends but also since my studies require quite a lot of talking. I study several foreign languages. When I get excited, surprised or irritated my voice rises like an octave. My family says that's about my natural voice I should speak with but I am not able to speak like that - it takes so much effort and feels weird. This saddens me and I'm afraid I can never sing again. I'm not trying to be a singer but I wish I could find and use my singing voice again - just for me, for fun - I used to sing a lot and I loved it. Also it would be nice to talk freely without damaging the voice. I don't know what to do...should I find a vocal coach or is it too late to fix this - or is the damage permanent already? I'm 26 now. I just found this out at 29 because I started seeing a vocal coach for a new job. It is not too late but you will definitely need a professional to work one on one with you and show you when you are using the wrong muscles or adding tension on your voice. It also takes a ton of practice to feel comfortable using your "new" voice, because while it has no strain it also requires more volume and can be hard to accept if you still have self conscious feelings about having a high voice. @@omoriidrip project your voice louder. Ok so find your diaphram.it sits under your lungs. You feel it pull your ribcage outward when you take a deep breath. Take a deep and try to maintain that expanded ribcage feeling (also tighten your gut may help). Pick a word and practice with this feeling. Do it with confidence! Pay attention to where you feel your voice and adjust until it sounds loud but not screaming, it should not hurt. Also stand straight and your face forward not down. Practice !
I'm a skinny guy with a shockingly deep voice. People have commented how they didn't expect it from me. Low E, Bass 2. All that. I always think people can hear me if I speak clearly, and also I've been afraid to scare kids since I've worked at a store lately, I like making people feel comfortable with me since I'm a listener, not a speaker. I wan to make permanent changes in my habit and give myself permissions to project properly. I've also had moments where my throat hurts because it can vibrate really harshly. This was very enlightening for that self permission. Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart.
I have always talked way lower when talking and my voice is already quite high. My voice already sounds sweet and velvety but holy cow now it's way higher than I'm even emotionally comfortable with. It's not bad, but it's just really weird and it's tripping me out 😅
I'm a male, and I just realized I actually have a much more gender-neutral voice and that I've been speaking far lower than my natural pitch. I spend a lot of time on conference calls at my job and this has greatly helped. I'm beginning my 'new' voice now!
I’m an 18 year old boy and my voice is wretched. When I’m naturally speaking without trying to change it, my voice is very high pitch and raspy. I can’t talk loudly or else my voice will get even higher pitch or even raspier. I am able to speak in a deep voice loudly but it sounds unnatural to others and they don’t think it’s me. I thought my voice would be better now since puberty has hit but it’s only gotten worse. I don’t strain my voice either. I just want to have a normal voice that can be assertive, clear, and not so annoying.
I'm a guy but my natural speaking pitch is higher, so I've been practising speaking lower. It took some time, but it worked to some extent, as in I feel comfortable and it sounds natural.
Thank you of speaking at lower register I don’t know why if it was me trying to be are you some kind of defense mechanism but thank you this is very helpful!
Hi Ronja, another great video! You mentioned what you had for breakfast; could you please make a video of what foods and beverages are to be avoided and those that benefit the voice? Oh and since you mention eggs, how many do you consume a week? As you know there are many different opinions about them. Thank you.
Hi OpticRacer21, Thanks :) That's a great idea. I'm working on a few other videos right now but afterwards I will make one about foods and singing. I have already made a video about the kind of drinks to avoid when singing. Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/xRcOS0nUKPo/v-deo.html As for eggs, I do love eating an egg for breakfast. I've been following the dispute over good vs bad for a while. From a singing standpoint, my understanding is that since it is a "wet" protein it is considered a somewhat good source of protein in terms of hydration, however, I think the debate on eggs and cholesterol is more important. The latest research I heard on the news is that we should eat eggs in moderation because of the cholesterol in the yolk. Is this a debate you have been following?

I have two different voices. One is my inner high pitch voice, which before I was afraid to sing or speak off, and another, that is a normal mixture of voices which is a bit high too.... The main thing is that Idk what to sing with, when it comes to normal flow of notes....
Hello, you can do a tutorial on how to project the voice to sing and what is the proper posture of the mouth, tongue, soft palate, larynx to get better projection
I'm still not sure about my "natural" pitch... :D All I know is, I used to have a tendency to speak with poor support and a lot of tension, and never really managed to sort that out - until I started looking into bel canto just a few months ago. Relearning everything from scratch, and it's a complete transformation, with results I could never have imagined. Everyone should learn proper vocal technique! \o/
im not a singer but im pretty sure i strain my voice constantly by speaking in a lower pitch majority of the time and it causes many issues but i dont know how to fix it :( i feel like my natural voice would be much higher but i just cant start speaking in a completely different voice out of a sudden
My natural pitch for humming seems to be a B note but I question whether it depends completely on anatomy as that note also happens to be the first note ascending the chromatic scale whose Shepard tone sounds lower than the pitch that they form a tritone with, (meanwhile making the B flat Shepard tone the last one in the ascending chromatic sequence to sound like the higher pitch in its own tritone pair) and studies seem to implicate perception of the tritone paradox to depend on what language/accent/dialect one grew up hearing meaning different languages/accents/dialects have different natural pitches. (The fact that it’s a B pitch is actually very strange as I was brought up in Southern California where the perception of the Shepard tones in the tritone paradox is the complete opposite; it means that I somehow took after my dad’s British side of the family instead since Southern Brits perceive the Shepard tones that way)
My natural tone is pretty soft and high pitched. It comes through when I'm happy and talking to my friends, but I just want people to take me seriously so I speak with a bit more bass in my voice??
Very interesting and informative video. Thank you. Actually I've noticed that in the morning and at night my voice drop to my fry register. I'm not sure if it's good or bad, but I do feel it seems easier and less effort to speak like that during those time. (During daytime, my voice will raise back to higher pitch, and I feel throat hurting easily) ....really confused of my own voice.
Very Helpful thank you. I do talk lower than my normal tone, apparently. And more so, after speaking English 90% of my day as I have moved to an English speaking country a decade ago. I subscribed and have one suggestion\question: Does speaking in a different language from your mother tongue, change the tone unnaturally? And How to fix? (I suppose the fix maybe similar to this video but that maybe a good one :)
Wow... my singing teacher told me this too. I speak around a G2 but I should be speaking around a A3 as I’m a high tenor. It really throws people off when I sing around them LOL.
This has actually improved the way I speak, it sounds more natural and comfortable I just have trouble maintaining the voice, does anyone know a really good way of getting used to the pitch?
I felt it in my throat when I spoke too low. I also talk louder when I'm excited. Hey, I was the youngest of eight. I needed to be heard! LOL. But I'm working on not tiring out my voice with loud speaking.
I'm a 17 year old boy. I'm having a vocal difficulty since the last 4 months. I noticed that I always speak in a very low pitch. I used to sing but now I can't because now my voice isn’t as normal as it should be. I can't speak in my chest voice. So I decided to stop speaking for a week to rest my voice. And then I will try the exercises given by you. Please let me know if it’s alright and suggest me of what I should do.
Before I find my speaking pitch (often before a long unwanted conversation with a friend), with an arrogant wave of my hand to get them to shut up so I can speak, I exhale a few robust meemeemeemee’s cheerfully and loudly
5:52 Is there a relation btw shy and higher pitch? It's exactly my problem, My speaking voice is higher than what I should use and then I subconsciously clamp my larynx to match to my singing with fake speaking voice.
Why do you want to change your pitch?just out of curiosity. I understand where your coming from I'm an Alto and my voice is somewhat lower than normal.
@@stingraykitten1796 They might be a girl and a lot of people consider higher pitched voices more ladylike although I usually talk in the 4th to 5th octave and people just say I sound like a child-
Any speaking out of your normal pitch will probably damage your vocal chords, since you stressing them out more than if you just stuck with what your body was comfortable with
Hi blueshoter 234, Thanks for your question :) First off, it is awesome that you have started to learn how to sing! As a start, I recommend that you focus on getting your voice resonant and connected to your breath support. This makes your voice agile and allows you to create the sounds you want. Here are two videos to start off with. This focuses on getting your sounds out of your body (resonant): ua-cam.com/video/0yKMbRiOwsw/v-deo.html This connects your voice with your air (Breath support): ua-cam.com/video/fwNPp-RS4IY/v-deo.html I hope this helps. I wish you happy singing :)
I'm having a trouble recognizing my natural voice type. When I start to sing I always sound like a mezzo .. very good middle voice with falsetto coordination, voice weight, depth & dark timbre but then when it comes to high notes everyone is confused .. They begin to think that I may be an underdeveloped dramatic soprano because I can hit up to B5 in full legato head voice & to C6 in Staccato & my lower register under B3 sounds a little forced or pushed .. But I have a lot of breath control problems with my upper register so I'm really confused :/ I don't want to push my voice where it doesn't want to be .. I just want to find out where it naturally lies .. I take classical (Opera) singing lessons & I'm 25 years old. lets say my most comfortable range is between C4 & D5 without any pushing, strain or doing effort .. But my doable notes/range is between Eb3 to C6
Great lesson..! I ve to make a conscious effort for this. Tried doing this recently.. Now when you suggest it it makes so much sense! I listen to news broadcast for example ( Becky Quick) and sometimes her voice sounds rough and tired … May be because she is on at 6 am ? Thank you for another great lesson…🥰 Trying to speak from the diaphragm is the trick I think. Am I right?
I’m trying to figure it out without really singing anymore. I am trying acting and notice my voice has changed and sounds strained. Thanks for the help
I tend to speak in a lower pitch lowering my larynx because people say my voice is unnaturally high for a guy but when I'm comfortable and not so self aware I speak in my normal voice
Most people say they have low pitched speaking and high pitched singing, but my case is the very opposite. My speaking voice is nasal, a bit high, soft and lacks volume, but when I sing, I can't reach high pitches and I'm pretty comfortable in baritone range.
i think im the only one who is embarrassed because i sound different everyday and dont know how to speak normally :((((

If you hold back your voice will sound weak. Practice how you breathe and keep your ribcage expanded. If you start running out of air you voice will trail away. Now pick a sentence and practice. Pay attention to where you feel your voice and adjust until it sounds loud but not screaming, it should not hurt. Also stand straight and your face forward not down. Practice !
Situational Awareness is such a good tip. I always plan what I’m gonna say bc I’m shy but never HOW
Thanks! This was helpful. The note I naturally hummed feels great and put me in a very comfortable range.
TheWeeknd has such a soft - beautiful voice 💪🏿
True he’s voice is so soft with his songs, his one of my top fav r&b artist
i found this so helpful i am very awkward when speaking and my pitch goes all over the place
Wow! The hum trick for finding my natural speaking pitch was very revealing!❤
Thanks to this video, which I didn't intend to watch at all, I now know that I've been speaking from my throat my whole life 🤠😭
It is really different than I used to speak. Actually I find out I was speaking too high😅 thank you for this video. It is very helpful 🙏
My voice pinch change with every languages I speak😭😭😭
Same sis
@@bijoymatubbor4380 atleast you speak every language lucky 😣
Probably gonna go away with enough practice. I think I used to have the same problem.
GOSH same, spanish is at my highest pitch for some reason
In Spanish I get higher
Wait for it, it gonna be a very successful channel, Love the vibes and the genuine smile.
Thank you so much for sharing all this useful information. Priceless!
Hi JCC C, You are so welcome. I'm really happy to hear that you like it :) Thanks for watching!
I have always talked way lower when talking and my voice is already quite high. My voice already sounds sweet and velvety but holy cow now it's way higher than I'm even emotionally comfortable with. It's not bad, but it's just really weird and it's tripping me out 😅
I am actually pleasantly surprised with how my actual, natural voice sounds.
I also found out that I'm a low baritone.
ive never thought about if i was using my natural speaking voice, hopefully this helps i find talking to be draining noticeably when i talk lower
Thank you so so much for this video! It is a game changer!
I'm a guy but my natural speaking pitch is higher, so I've been practising speaking lower. It took some time, but it worked to some extent, as in I feel comfortable and it sounds natural.
I thank God for you.. 😇.. God bless you more and more
Thank you Rebecca Pererira :) And thank you for watching. I wish all the best for your singing!
This girl teaches me to sing and speak better
Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/xRcOS0nUKPo/v-deo.html
As for eggs, I do love eating an egg for breakfast.
Another awesome video Ronja! Thank you for the great tips ❤️
So happy you liked it Isold :) I am so happy to see that you keep coming back and watching. Thank you!
wooooooow, great to have you back. you still look the same as you looked years ago :-)
Hi Hemant Sharma, Thank you you are so sweet :) It's great to be back!
Singgeek would love to videos more often. Please do post. You still taking voice lessons. How to contact you to get more details.
Superb exercise to know the natural speaking voice! Loved it! Thank you Ronja.
I naturally don't care about everything when i watch videos in yt. Normally i subscrib because i like the content but i dont click the bell button because its just a mess for my notif. But i click the bell and "all" for you❤✨
I talk different an I sing different an always have problems with pitch but I know this practice will help me thanks as I give it a try.
Found out your videos today.
I can't explain just how much this helps me. Love you 😘
Thanks a lot!!
Hi Shinjini, It makes me so happy to hear that you find the videos useful :) Thanks for taking the time to write me and I wish you all the best on your singing journey!

Thanks a lot. I'm 13 and on my singing journey. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 Love from India
I'm an Alto my voice never gets tired.
Am I missing something
I do that at the lower pitch….that was helpful…I accept the challenge!
I have two different voices. One is my inner high pitch voice, which before I was afraid to sing or speak off, and another, that is a normal mixture of voices which is a bit high too.... The main thing is that Idk what to sing with, when it comes to normal flow of notes....
Thanks Ronja!!!for come back again
You are so welcome! I love making the videos for you :)
Thank you so much you made my voicing carrier better
im not a singer but im pretty sure i strain my voice constantly by speaking in a lower pitch majority of the time and it causes many issues but i dont know how to fix it :( i feel like my natural voice would be much higher but i just cant start speaking in a completely different voice out of a sudden
Thank you for the help
You're awesome! thanks for all the vids and tips! highly appreciated
Your videos are sooooooooo helpful in so many ways
.
Thank You !!!
(During daytime, my voice will raise back to higher pitch, and I feel throat hurting easily) ....really confused of my own voice.
my voice is low pitched when i speak my native language and it's high pitched when i speak English (i literally sound 5)
Do you do private singing lessons? I would totally sign up, I'm a HUGE fan of your videos!!
Wow... my singing teacher told me this too.
I think you're most likely going through puberty :/ so your voice might change pretty dramatically right now
yeah. im 24 but still going thru puberty, and it's a bitch to sing. just recently got it to stop cracking. just relax and wait and stay in your range
Hello, is there an e-mail we can contact you on if we have any questions?
Before I find my speaking pitch (often before a long unwanted conversation with a friend), with an arrogant wave of my hand to get them to shut up so I can speak, I exhale a few robust meemeemeemee’s cheerfully and loudly
That’s a fantastic insight, thank you
Interesting! I though we mostly always spoke in a higher pitch, to placate and and sound less threatening.
Helped so much thank you
My voice always hurts :(. I think I have Chronic Laryngitis. I’ll never be able to sing... it’s okay tho.
Same😲🤧
This helped me so much thank you!!!
GOOD AFTERNOON 🇳🇵💓🎓💤YOU ARE THE GENEROUS AND CREATIVE GUIDE FOR THE SPEAKERS. 🎶🎶
Excellent 😮thank you
Sometimes I’m not sure what my natural speaking voice is because I find myself unconsciously imitating other people’s voices.
Thanks
5:52 Is there a relation btw shy and higher pitch? It's exactly my problem, My speaking voice is higher than what I should use and then I subconsciously clamp my larynx to match to my singing with fake speaking voice.
I speak with a high pitch because I naturally have a really deep voice. And I want to avoid having a too deep voice. Any feed back ?
Why do you want to change your pitch?just out of curiosity. I understand where your coming from I'm an Alto and my voice is somewhat lower than normal.
@@stingraykitten1796 They might be a girl and a lot of people consider higher pitched voices more ladylike although I usually talk in the 4th to 5th octave and people just say I sound like a child-
@@pamelagarcia4323 oh ok thats cool :3
@@stingraykitten1796 ya deep voices are beautiful though
Any speaking out of your normal pitch will probably damage your vocal chords, since you stressing them out more than if you just stuck with what your body was comfortable with
im just starting to learn how to sing can you tell me some tips for begginers☺☺
Hi blueshoter 234, Thanks for your question :) First off, it is awesome that you have started to learn how to sing! As a start, I recommend that you focus on getting your voice resonant and connected to your breath support. This makes your voice agile and allows you to create the sounds you want. Here are two videos to start off with.
This focuses on getting your sounds out of your body (resonant): ua-cam.com/video/0yKMbRiOwsw/v-deo.html
This connects your voice with your air (Breath support): ua-cam.com/video/fwNPp-RS4IY/v-deo.html
I hope this helps. I wish you happy singing :)
@@singgeek Thank You So Much For The Tips😊😊😊
I love this so much
Thank you
I'm even a bit afraid when it comes to listen my records.. Just looking forward to know and hear my actual voice...🤞🏻✌🏻
But I have a lot of breath control problems with my upper register so I'm really confused :/
I don't want to push my voice where it doesn't want to be .. I just want to find out where it naturally lies .. I take classical (Opera) singing lessons & I'm 25 years old.
lets say my most comfortable range is between C4 & D5 without any pushing, strain or doing effort .. But my doable notes/range is between Eb3 to C6
This is really helpful.
Great lesson..!
I ve to make a conscious effort for this.
Tried doing this recently.. Now when you suggest it it makes so much sense!
I listen to news broadcast for example ( Becky Quick) and sometimes her voice sounds rough and tired …
May be because she is on at 6 am ?
Thank you for another great lesson…🥰
Trying to speak from the diaphragm is the trick I think. Am I right?
I’m trying to figure it out without really singing anymore. I am trying acting and notice my voice has changed and sounds strained. Thanks for the help
I realized recently that I keep talking lower than my natural voice to sound mature and match my friends' pitch
I think mine is G3#, thank you!
I’m a mezzo I think lol but my hum was much higher than yours. Is that ok?
I tend to speak in a lower pitch lowering my larynx because people say my voice is unnaturally high for a guy but when I'm comfortable and not so self aware I speak in my normal voice
You are really good at this. i love the way you teaching. keep up good work❤️.
Most people say they have low pitched speaking and high pitched singing, but my case is the very opposite. My speaking voice is nasal, a bit high, soft and lacks volume, but when I sing, I can't reach high pitches and I'm pretty comfortable in baritone range.
Hello my teacher Ms. Singgeeek, you have a nice accent.
I'm currently using this to try to erase the programming of the "customer service" voice

this series is interesting, might watch some of your other videos
Find 😊😊your natural speaking pitch by humming. Too low or too high will strain your voice. Give yourself constant reminders.
Great vid as always thanks! I found myself always getting hoarse but I bet this will help since I found I change mine alot lol
