    Thanks for the tour of the Atlas by Airstream. My two likes you showed off were one the dry bath, and outside underbody storage boxes. You stated you are 6-foot 2-inches so I'm wondering if the Murphy bed would work for us. As Irene showed off the added head extinction makes some added space. (truly if you did not show me that, I don't think I would be planing a time to view) Wonderful showing and well worth a tour of our own thanks, guys. "The Butter comment was funny"

    Great video, guys! I currently own an Airstream travel trailer, and am very seriously considering either the Atlas or Interstate for full-time living (I think I'd prefer a motorcoach over the trailer). Your opinions about size/maneuverability will be taken into consideration. Also, I find it extremely impressive that both of you find the time and motivation to stay so fit while being permanently on the road. Keep up the great work!

      Thank you! What TT do you have? We just did a walk through of all the models and it was interesting to see them. It's kinda funny...... can we ever be happy with our choice?? So many of us are trying to find the perfect fit! The Interstate wins hands down for driving and the Atlas wins hands down for living space with the slide out. Currently for our travel style, the Interstate is the perfect choice. Thanks so much for watching! -Aaron

      @@IreneIronTravels Thanks for the quick reply! I currently have a '19 Flying Cloud 19CB. Before that one, I had a Flying Cloud 26RBT that I loved (& kind of regret downsizing). Don't get me wrong though, I really like both of them for different reasons. Ironically, I just finished viewing your video over the Interstate. You're so right, man.....what exactly IS the perfect choice?? Ha! My only concerns with the Interstate are the wet bath and something you mentioned: not sure how comfortable the contoured bed will be. My local dealer in Austin is going to allow me to view an Atlas they have coming in this month for a customer (I obviously won't be able to drive it, but at least I can check it out). I'm looking forward to checking out both models and figuring out what fits my needs. In the meantime, I'll keep viewing your informative videos. Have fun on the road!

      @@bradwomack7249 We owned a 2018 Grand Tour EXT, and just sold it. We have a few kids and 2 retrievers and LOVED the size, carrying capacity, and drive of the interstate. However lack of Air suspension for the back folks, and having to run the Generator for AC in the back, and small isle for 4 people and two dogs..... well we are now leaning towards the Atlas.
      The goal is to stay mobile...sprinter van size. Have a B van makes life easy with kidos while driving. My concern now is the limited carrying pounds in the Atlas.

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  3 роки тому +1

      Hello, thank you! Yes, the extra weight of the B ➕ on the sprinter chassis lowers that OCC unfortunately. Beautiful rig as you said. Tough decisions for you guys! We carry about 2000 lbs of extra on our van as full timers, if that helps. It does add up quick!

      @@IreneIronTravels Cot dayum! That’s a lot of weight. We will be full timers as well but have rental properties across the US that hold most of our possessions. Think workout equipment is out for the Atlas, we’ll have to travel light, if you don’t mind me asking, how did you get a weight measurement on all your cargo?

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  3 роки тому +1

      The base weight of our Interstate is about 8800 lbs( according to the brochure) and so I just subtracted that from our total weight from a CAT scale. That is one of the reasons we chose this van for its 2286 OCCC weight. We just started using some resistance bands that we really like and are a lot lighter than our 150 lbs of adjustable dumbells!😳. Chris is writing some guest blogs for them. The company is called Undersun fitness. undersunfitness.com/a/blog/irene-iron-fitness-van-life-transformation-month-1-the-olympic-peninsula
      Anyways.....that will be nice to store your possessions at your properties. Have you guys looked at the Interstate also? Definitely a lot more living space in the Atlas!

    • @paulk9188
      @paulk9188 3 роки тому +1

      @@IreneIronTravels Appreciate the reply, we’ll have to load up our SUV with whatever we plan to take on the Atlas & get it weighed. Great tip regarding CAT scale! Yes we are STILL back & forth between the Interstate & Atlas actually. Our dealer ordered both, said they would be able to sell whichever one we did not go with. They should both be in mid November so we still have some time. The Interstate main sell for us was the 4 wheel drive. Just purchased a small..(very small lol) cabin by the slopes here in CALI as we snowboard quite a bit..that extra stability on the curvy roads up the mountains is a huge plus. That & the carrying weight of course. The Atlas however with the extra room for the pups & just everyday comfort, plus the independent shower & larger TV ultimately sold us, but still have time to decide. Thank you for the link to the bands, will definitely check out as we have adjustable weights as well but that’s a no go on the Atlas especially with our One Wheels which is a must have travel companion I highly recommend. onewheel.com/

      Thanks! We definitely prefer the maneuverability of the true class B. You could take a B plus into NYC, BUT it would not be a easy and comfortable drive like it was in our van.( or recommended ) The B plus is 25 ft long over 10 ft tall and over 8 ft wide. It just doesn't compare to a true B. But that is the benefit for the inside of the Atlas. It is huge compared to our van! - Aaron

    A lot of moving parts! Warranty? One thing with Airstream - You need to read the fine print. If your RV dealer can't/won't fix your RV under warranty, it is your obligation (and at your cost) to get the coach back to the point of manufacture for repairs.

    Great video reviews! Now that you have personally seen the 2020 Atlas and Interstate, if you had the opportunity which would you lean towards? The space on the Atlas is nice, however the limited carrying weight, might be a factor. My wife LOVES the Atlas and Sprinter chassis. My worry is that once we load up with the dogs, water, gas- not really enough carrying capacity for much more. Why they offer 4 seat belts, when it cant really be loaded up like the Interstate :-(

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  4 роки тому

      Hello! For us it would no question be the Interstate. You're right on the OCCC being 1,000 more lbs than the Atlas and that would be tough for us being full time. We would be wayyyyyy over weight on an Atlas. I've seen a lot of Motor homes with under 1,000 OCCC and you said it,...... that would add up fast. But, everyone's needs are going to be different. The Atlas is really nice and we would love to have that extra space, but we prefer the true B van bodies and being able to be more nimble while traveling. Thanks a lot for watching and commenting. Good luck with your decision! - Aaron

    Which is easier to park the Atlas or Interstate? Is there any significant difference in parking these vehicles especially in city parking space?

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  4 роки тому

      Yes, BIG difference in these two vans. The Atlas is roughly 3 inches longer, 10 inches taller, and 8 inches wider. It doesn't sound like much on paper, but the extra width alone will make it much more difficult in the city. If mobility and ease of driving and parking is a big priority I would lean towards the Interstate. On the other hand the Atlas is much roomier inside and is more comfortable with the extra height, width and slide out. But, make sure you look at and drive these in person to get the full effect of what it is like.

    Question for you two, would you rather have the 2020 Airstream Atlas Murphy Suite or the 25' Airstream International? I know one is
    a B+ and one is a trailer and there are advantages and disadvantages to both but curious which one you would rather have leaving money out of it.

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  4 роки тому +1

      That's a great question! I just asked my wife and we got a good hypothetical conversation out of it! But, we both agree if we were to switch from our true Class B Interstate we go with a truck and 25' International. Currently we love the ability to drive and park almost anywhere in our van. Since the Atlas ( we feel ) is too big to park in most urban areas it takes away the nimbleness. So space wise the trailer would win out and would still have the option to drive the truck around. - Aaron

      Irene Iron Fitness Right on and thank you for answering my question. We have had a really difficult time going back-and-forth on that very question. There’s a van company in Canada that builds luxury van conversions that compete with the atlas and after looking at all of our options the versatility of parking the trailer and leaving in our truck seems very satisfying.

We did one loop around the states in the past 14 months and didn't even scratch the surface! So, we will continue to move fairly quickly ( 1-2 weeks) and enjoy this beautiful country. Hello. We did not test drive the Atlas, but we did ride in the back as the salesmen moved it from the back of the lot to the front. It was a short drive, but we could defiantly fell the sway a lot more than our Interstate. I would guess it would be a noticeable difference between the two driving.

      @IreneIronTravels  3 роки тому +1

      A new Sprinter chassis maintenance might look something like this, but you would want to talk to a MB Sprinter dealer near you for exact details.
      Synthetic motor oil replacement Every 20,000 miles or 1 year for diesels / Every 15,000 miles or 1 year for gasoline engines
      Cabin dust/combination filter replacement Every 40,000 miles
      Brake fluid exchange Every 2 years
      Wiper blades set
      Every 10,000 miles
      Spark plugs replacement
      Every 30,000 miles or 3 years (gas engines only)
      Engine air filter replacement
      Every 60,000 miles or 3 years for diesels / Every 45,000 miles or 3 years for gas engines
      Transmission oil & filter replacement
      At 40,000 miles and then every 60,000 miles or 3 years for diesels/ At 30,000 gas engines
      Fuel filter replacement (diesel models) Every 20,000 miles or 1 year (diesel engines only)

      They are not a 4 season as they have exposed water lines and tanks under the RV. You could do a little modification and if you have the electrical hook up and make it work. We RV in the 30's and have no problem, but colder would be tough. Thanks for watching!

    I LOVE this RV! Just took a look the 2021. The silliest, but imperative, thing was a deal breaker for me though. Why on earth are the two pedestal tables the size of dinner plates? They're tiny! Just thinking that if I'm on the sofa, and want to eat or use my laptop, I have to go to the center of the couch and the tiny table isn't even big enough to hold my small laptop and a cup of coffee... let alone a single dinner setting. And, the drink cup holders are way over by the sofa arms nowhere near the minuscule table. The same issue exists with the tiny pedestal table for the cab chairs- it doesn't reach in front of either of them.

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  3 роки тому

      That makes a big difference for sure! We didn't even see the table hiding in the sofa of this model!

    To be honest, this Airstream model, has borrowed all the features that come with the Leisure Travel Vans (out of Canada) MB model. LTV was doing this exact floorplan before Airstream decided to do one.
    Not putting LTV down, by any means ... the Airstream version does have a more elegant, sophisticated, look and feel though. But I'll bet there's a price to pay for that sophisticated look.

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  4 роки тому

      Yes, we would. For our travel style (big cites, boondocking, face paced travel) it makes more sense to have a true class B over the larger B+. The Atlas has a ton more livable space for sure and has way better outside storage, but we love the Interstate! The case can be made going the other way as well. Thanks for watching - Aaron
