    Suggestion for added tank capacity. Move the spare tire to a bumper mount and you can add another tank we’re the tire was. Either Black gray or combined You can add addition fresh water in a 5 gallon bottle that you carry in van.

    Beautiful camper van ! A bit small (especially the width) so for me, there would be too many compromises with tank capacity, storage, etc., but for a weekend or longer trip I can see this being awesome. For me, the sweet spot would be a 25' twin bed Globetrotter behind a F-250 and using the truck bed for additional messy storage and a generator. I did a couple of years in a Class A and similar to this van, the convenience is unsurpassed. Thank you for sharing.

    • @IreneIronTravels

      Yes, all those things make it hard to full time in a class b for sure! That would be a sweet set up with the Globetrotter and Ford! Thanks for watching!

      Hello again! The light color magic suede walls are the big one. Especially in the kitchen right next to the stove and the sink. It does not do well with anything wet, like grease, cooking splatter, or food spills. But everything else is holding up really well, like the Ultra leather and glossy cabinet fronts. You can pretty much wipe up and clean anything and not tell you spilled on it. Like red wine!🍷

    Great tour! We are in the middle of redoing some of the things in our tiny camper before we start phase 2 of our hit the road adventure. Our table is a terrible design and takes up way more of our tiny space than it should - so we are redesigning that. That was really smart of you to remove the TV - I think it is funny many campers put in huge TV systems in their campers - I am thinking TV is the last thing I want to do when I can explore a new place. A 6 foot by 6 foot by 6 foot bed room area it looks like - since Aaron can stand in your bedroom and hey its bigger than a New York City studio bedroom! Love the photo of Aaron hard at work - that was really funny! Great tour and review! You guys have been at this a long time - good job!

    Great review on the rig. I have a 2019 AI GT, bought it new in March and now have 23k miles on it. A couple of quick, easy and relatively cheap mods: The kitchen sink and the toilet. That marine sink is terrible, so I replaced it with a round 17” stainless steel sink (that fits perfectly) and drilled a hole to install a nice faucet with a sprayer. We also found a wooden cutting board that nestles into the sink perfectly. And I’m also 6’2”, and sitting down in the wet bath is easier to shower, but that flimsy plastic seat is uncomfortable. You can get a nice ceramic toilet to replace it, with a wooden soft-close seat, a very easy modification. Either of these mods cost less than $200, and can be done in 2 hours.

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  4 роки тому

      Thank you! Wow, 23k in less than a year... you are moving! I always, thought there might be an easy drop in sink that would fit but I haven't looked yet. Would you happen to have a model or number on your sink? I'll also look into the toilet... that would make it feel a lot nicer in there for sure. Thanks for the ideas! Have you seen the 2020 AI GT's yet?? I'm trying to get to one at a dealer to put out a video on one soon.

    • @jscott1613
      @jscott1613 4 роки тому +1

      I got the info on the sink and the toilet, along with instructions, on the AI Facebook page. If you can’t find it there, I can send you what I bought from Amazon. Speaking of Amazon, I thought about waiting and buying a 2020 to get the Mercedes vehicle updates (especially adaptive cruise control), but I had heard Amazon was buying almost every one produced, so I haven’t even seen one. I’m made lots of mods to customize it for my wife and me, and on the technical side I’d recommend a tire pressure monitoring system (mine is wireless and solar powered) and a wireless OBDII scan tool to monitor the engine numbers (instead of just idiot lights). I like to know what’s going on with the rig.

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  4 роки тому

      Thank you, I'll check out the FB page. If you look on RV trader for 2020 AI 24 GT, there are a few out now. Besides the 2019 Sprinter, Airstream finally updated the interior. Looks very nice. I'll look into the tire pressure monitors. I should get a OBII bluetooth module for on $20 that reads off our radio we have. Thanks for tips!

    Great tour video!!
    Very informative and interesting to see how you make it work.
    I’m thinking about purchasing a Class B in next few years.
    Questions -
    Did you consider any other options for RVs?
    The Pleasure Way Plateau is very similar but has the opposite floor plan with kitchen on the other side and feels a little more open.
    They also have a Front Lounge model.
    Did you buy new?
    Did you finance?
    Spare tire?
    Do you need to winterize?
    Expensive to insure?
    Where is your fav destination so far?!

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you! Class b's are a great way to travel/live and I hope you get one soon! All great questions.... I'm planning a video on our buying process and experience. I researched class B's for about 18 months and here a few we seriously considered. Road Trek CS Adventurous, RT Zion, Hymer Activ, Pleasure way Lexor and Plateau and the Winnebago ERA. Many pros and cons....... but what was important to us was 1.layout and quality, 2. tank sizes, 3. Electrical. We bought ours outright, so a huge factor was also the right DEAL as many things can be upgraded. So I was mainly looking at used, 1 to 5 years old. Save a lot on depreciation each year, 20-30%. Airstream is nice because the spare tire is underneath by the generator and not on the back doors. We winterized when we bought it and drove from FL back to MN in December. There are tank heaters on board but in temps under 30 degrees your pipes will freeze. So...... we stay in the nice temps mostly! Sunny and 70 right? Insurance can vary but we have progressive good coverage for around $800 per year. So many great places in the US, but our favorite destination is NYC! Check that video out if you haven't. Thanks for watching!

      Irene Iron Fitness thanks so much for the great responses Irene -I just found your channel a few weeks ago and immediately subscribed.
      I’m in LA and was also considering an Airstream trailer but the convenience of a Class B for parking and tighter campsites is persuading me to focus on Class B.
      Airstream and Pleasureway are in the lead!
      Really looking forward to your video on researching the various pros and cons on different manufactures and the buying process!

    Hi Chris and Aaron;
    Thanks for your video. I see your RV is a little bit over 23' in length. What has been your experience on parking, specially at cities like NY, Boston? I am been looking on smaller RVs as I am afraid parking may be an issue. Thanks for your comments and advice...

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  4 роки тому +1

      Hello! We have had a really good experience parking our mid sized Sprinter almost everywhere. But, the key in a standard spot is we have to hang our back end over the curb so we don't stick out. Street parking in metered spots are generally good as well as big big parking lots are no problem. In the big cities we either did street parking or payed lot parking and didn't really have any problems. It's more in the small touristy towns like Sedona, AZ or any of the small parking lots like you would see at a Trader Joes. A few other areas that are tough are small trailheads or just really busy popular areas. A good rule of thumb is you will have zero problems in a 19' or 20' van, our size van takes a little planning/circling but usually find a spot, and the 25' vans will limit you to big parking lots, double spots, or large street parking. But, it is doable in all sizes! We see a lot of them all out here.

    As usual, a great video!!
    You can add a Lagun Table setup for Aaron in the front as well. If you put one in the back you will just need the adapter fro the front as well. Have you also thought about getting a separate portable ac/dc compressor fridge/freezer that will fit in the back with the bed down? Another question I had was how different is the ride after changing to those tires?

      Our back is crammed full with our tent and fitness gear.... so no room for a fridge back there. If ours ever craps out I would look into putting a bigger one in. Maybe in the larger pantry closet. We drove back 1500 miles from FL when we bought it and had then had two tires start leaking right away. Probably from the cold in MN, but they only had 24,000 miles but were very cracked from the FL sun. I can't say I noticed a huge difference in the ride, except maybe a little louder. And now 10k latter a little louder again, only above 45 mph. But, I really like them and man it feels good to have new rubber on a vehicle. I also considered the Michelins... but am glad we got the AT tires.

      Hello! Yes, I think one could get creative and put a mount there. The new 2020's actually just started putting one there. It's pretty sweet! We haven't really done much for mods on our first year.... but I think we'll look more closely at things to customize this year! Thanks for watching! - Aaron👍

    Fabulous video. You two are naturals. We have a 2019 19' van and still learning how to use it. We have struggled with the batteries and keeping enough charge to run the refrigerator while boondocking. Do you do much boondocking? Do you have any suggestions how you manage that? I follow the Airstream Interstate page on facebook. A lot of people get the Goal Zero to add battery power for the refrigerator.
    After watching your video, I now have Space envy.
    Thank you

      Thank you for complement! Your right its tough to boondock in an AI. They just aren't set up with enough battery capacity for more than a day or so. Especially if you run a lot of other electronics. The 2019 interstates just started putting 4 batteries in instead of 2. Upgrading ours was a must. We only boondock for a couple days before getting pretty low. Plus water and tank capacities make it tough. Do you have solar? The external lithium packs like a goal zero are an option to help. Have you considered upgrading your batteries? Its nice to not bring on another thing, especially when we don't have much space in a van! (Aaron)

    Great video! I'll be checking out your in depth kitchen tour next. The bedroom door is a great feature. I have 2 questions if you don't mind. 1) what is the head unit you have in the cab area? Is it stock or aftermarket? 2) do you use your A/C often and if so how well does it work for you?

      Thank you! I replaced the original 7 inch kenwood after it stopped working. I put in a 10.1 inch Joying brand. Its basically a big Android pad with google maps and any other app you want. We like it.$400 instead of $600 to $1000 for others. The AC we do use at the RV parks a lot. It is loud, but it does have a low setting on it. Wish it had 5 or so settings for speeds. Funny, we covered this in the 60 minute filming we did but I cut the video down under 30 min. Sooooooo much to cover!😀

      @@IreneIronTravels Awesome! Thanks for replying so quickly. Head unit looks nice! I just recently put a similar android pad type unit in one of our vehicles, we like it so far. Though since the install, seems to possibly be slowly pulling power from the car causing it to die. We figured to just lock the car from key fob when were parked at home and haven't had that problem since.
      We are feeling a little in different with our A/C unit and if it works properly for us. Seems like when it gets 90-95 degrees the coach doesn't cool off too much. Ours is very loud as well. We still have to play with it more to really have a good idea. Appreciate your feedback!🙂

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  4 роки тому

      You might be right on your head unit. Ours dosen't have a power off button, just a sleep button. I think it draws also, but hasn't been an issue for us with our solar and also being hooked up in the RV parks all the time. Vans are tough in any temp over 90 for sure. Windows and poor insulation.....just not the same as a house. Ours works fine, but its not fun to be 2 feet from it 24/7 running! The door helps to close off rooms too. And shade.

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  4 роки тому

      Thanks, Sandra! We appreciate you checking us out. Amber is great, she is such a ray of sunshine!
      We can fit into a regular space with a few criteria met: 1) we have to back in so our rear tail hangs over the curb 2) the curb has to be low enough for our tail to clear it 3) the area behind curb has to be free from obstructions like sign poles, trees, and shrubs.
      Our length is just a couple feet longer than a standard pick up truck so we will stick out a little bit if we don't reverse in as described above. - Chris

    • @IreneIronTravels

      I had MB do it. It only cost $135. You'd pay atleast $100 just to buy the oil and filter at a parts store. Also, the hassle of carrying a oil drain pan with us and disposing of the used oil. But, I like to do most myself for sure. Air filter, cabin filter, fuel filter, def fluid and such....
      Watch out for service A and service B at a dealer though..... been quoted up to $800.
