For that kind of money, I would expect the 4x4 and leveling jacks to be included. I would also like to see a convection microwave oven, an induction cooktop, and at least a 2,000 watt inverter, with lithium batteries. They should consider ditching the propane altogether, and switching to a diesel heating system. Black tank is tiny, so this unit might have been better with a cassette. AC unit is on the cheap side too, especially when you look at what Coachman installs in their upper end Class B motorhomes. All in all it's a well designed floorplan, but the internals leave a lot to be desired. If this rig had a price tag closer to $150,000 I'd cut it a little more slack, but at + 200K, they need to step up their game a bit.

You touched on ALL the real points of my concerns, ESPECIALLY the black tank size being so TINY for such a LARGE class B, needs to use the diesel heating system too and GO all electric like Coachman did! @@michaelsmith9308 I do believe that as nice as it is to be the first one to sleep in it, you're much better off specking out a rig that you like, and waiting for one to show up on the used market. More than any other purchase, people buying new RV's often change their minds early on, and the loss that they take is yours to gain if the rig is what you've been looking for.
As far as that back bed goes I would get an inch or two of memory foam at the Foam Factory and cover it every night and then roll it back up for daytime storage in one of the overhead bins.
I do prefer the four captain chairs up front for my guests when hauling family around town. Great place to socialize. I also installed a portable desk top between the driver's seat back and the seat behind for my laptop computer that is simply wonderful. Airstream eliminated the electric water heater in favor of propane only. Not a good idea when you have electric hookup available at the camp ground. Prefer the overhead cabinet up front, where the TV used to be, that is very spacious and handy. That new floor looks like it will imbed dirt and trap sand in a hurry. Power side door is the best feature of the new Interstate model. It's a game changer.
Thanks for your feedback! They still make the lounge model for 2020 with the four chairs for those that prefer it. Sounds like you have a good set up. We use our overhead cabinet as well for handy storage. I think I would have to own both to really know if the extra headspace is worth missing the storage. New floor....... the jury's out. Is the Mercedes supplied in 4X4 with air suspension? What about auto awning over sliding door? Storage for two directors chairs & aluminium table; tow hitch & m/bike fitting.. What about the European cassette toilet & space to store additional ? 300 watt solar pales linked to lithium batteries secured to under chassis. Space for gas weber?
Only two options on the 2020, everything else comes standard(4x4 and level jacks). The 4x4 is an add on from MB for $9680 and the air suspension now comes standard on the 2020 models. The power awning(with led lights) is an auto retract for winds and is also standard. Should be storage on the right side under the sofa that is big enough for the chairs, table and grill. Not sure about a cassette toilet, would have to get creative....... The 300 watts are linked to 4 AGM batteries. (85ah each). You could put in aftermarket lithiums pretty easy of you wanted. Impressive, but way too expensive. For that money I have so many better ideas to build a van. Imho i would replace all the useless luxury to get real useful stuff. This car is more for those people who have the money and dont care a lot how much they spent.
The microwave also has a heating element on the top like an oven so you can grill/broil too. People complain about the price but get a used one just like a car.
We got ours in May. Waited for over 6 months for it. It’s four wheel drive with off road tires and all the other options. So far we drove it for over 7000 miles and we just don’t get tired of it.
This is the best review of the AS Interstate GT with the new Benz chassis on the tube. These aren’t on any dealer lots so physically looking at one is not possible They are completely sold out so glad to watch these YT reviews. Ordered a 2021 to be delivered in November. Thanks for posting up.

Save your money. The American Coach Patriot MD4 or the Midwest Passage are far nicer and significantly less expensive. Plus they offer a full three-year warranty on the coach in addition to the five-year warranty on the chassis from Mercedes Benz. I bought the American Coach Patriot MD4 and absolutely love it. Looks more like a limo than an RV with far fewer hatches on the sides.
Yes! They do have a lighter color scheme you can get with light walls. We have a beige interior on our 2014 and love the lighter, brighter design. Thanks for watching!👍
For 20 to 30K you can but a REAL RV -- a mid 90's Foretravel 36' Class A diesel pusher that sold new for over 300K. Actually, you could buy 2 with what it will cost you in depreciation just to drive this off the dealer's lot.
Cool rv. Same length as my class c. The couch doesn't look comfortable as a bed. Love the kitchen and the front lounge area. For me I want to stay under 21 feet for a class b with a gas engine. But this looks great if you want diesel and a long length.
Incredible and detailed review. I can't wait until one of these go on the used market. Keeping my 2016 till then. I actually love the overhead cab storage since all my babies' toys are in there.
It is truly a nice coach! We both really love it A LOT. Maybe some day for us........We also like our over head storage a lot too, but it really does open up the front with it removed. I think i could live without it though for a 2020! Thanks for watching!

Hey there! I actually recognize your name from a video on the Picomic I watched a while back! Good question and an easy choice for us. We would choose the AI GT over the Atlas for the simple reason of it being a van body(class B) over an RV body(class B+ or C). Our travel style is pretty fast paced and we really enjoy visiting large cites also. Parking/driving the two are a night and day difference out in the streets and parking lots of a city in our opinion. On the flip side the Atlas is a beautiful RV that feels very spacious inside and when the slide is out it it's HUGE compared to a van. When we are sitting in an RV park for a few weeks or more we really feel the constrictions of the van vs a larger RV. Thanks a lot for watching and the question!

That's a lovely van, but if I had the money I'd get the Leisure Travel Vans Wonder 2020 Rear Twin Bed.........has a garage for bikes and loads of other equipment, and is a full feature van.
If its leather it is leather. There are not different materials within leathers. It may be different animals or different parts of the hides but leather is leather and if it's not leather it is plastics.
Way overpriced for a Sprinter RV. American Coach Patriot MD4 is much higher quality and far less expensive. Plus they give you a three-year warranty on the coach.
Ya I was also hoping to see a big upgrade on their electronics side. I don't think their target customer base demands it as most are probably plugged into shore power. As of 2019 they doubled the Lifeline AGM batteries they use to 4 but have the same 1000w Magnum inverter we have in a 2014. Would like to see 3000w plus a Lithium option for sure.
One important question, does the refrigerator work while driving long trips? I would like to know that I could stop somewhere and reach for a nice cold drink.
Yes! It is an compressor style fridge, like a residential fridge, instead of an absorption style fridge like most RVs have. One benefit is it is more efficient and they only run off of 12v and 120v. So your fridge is always on with your batteries, and then will switch to 120v when you plug into a campsite or house outlet. The 300 watts of solar help charge the batteries and the van alternator when driving. 😀
Nice clean unit sweet , I travel with 3 dogs , and most times with a second person , too small for me and all my stuff that I travel with , I wonder if it’s made in a 35’ Diesle.

Nice, detailed video - thanks! I wonder if the couch is long enough to sleep on (5'10" person) without the two ottomans? If so, I would like a washer/dryer combo in place of one of the ottomans? (and sleeping on the couch without it being lowered?). Overall, the best van design I have come across!
Our couch wall to wall is 70 inches so you could fit lying down width wise. I don't know how comfortable it would be once you add in a pillow and try to sprawl out, but they new AI is supposed to be a little wider. How cool would it be to add a washer dryer in a van!
Thank you and good question! Yes there is a separate window cover kit for the front windshield and driver/ passengers windows. It comes with the vehicle but needs to be set up each night.
Very nice, but the price tag 😳 & then they depreciate so quickly. I’d like to do something like this when I retire in about 3 years but kind of scary selling a home & live full time in a RV solo.
Great overview. Does it have blackout shades in the bedroom? I remember yours does not. Also, how about the door that blocks the bedroom for when you want to stealth camp in the city?
The 2020 does have upgraded shades that are blackout. Nice material. But, no bedroom door like ours. You could leave open the bathroom door, but not sure how beneficial that be....... thanks -Aaron
New subscriber, your videos are awesome! When you were showing the power window black out shades, I was curious about the windshield and door windows. Do they have their own shades so you can continue to use the area in private, or is there some sort of curtain/shade by the kitchen/pantry?
Hey Ken, thanks for watching! The windshield and front doors will be a separate shade kit that Airstream will provide. You need to put them up and take them down each night/day. All of the rest of the windows will have the power shades, including the back lounge/bedroom area, sliding door, and kitchen!
200 000 , plus gas and service . 700 nights in 300 dollar night , if average person has 3 weeks off plus holiday so 30 nights ? that is 23 years , value of that in 23 years is zero . I guess math is not favorable for it .

Hello, thanks for watching! We did consider a few other models like Pleasure-Way and Roadtrek, but now that we've been in our Airstream for over a year..... we are sure we made the right choice! There are a lot of different models out there and I recommend going to an RV show and "trying on" as many as you can.😃

Not an Airstream on a MB chassis but also 1000’s of dollars less. Hello! Yes, in our excitement looking at the 2020 we didn't even swivel the front seats around! But, yes they are standard and create a front dining area with the swivel table.

I have seen the Tommy Bahama interior before, its nice but it's not really my jam. I don't like the bar taking up the kitchen space either. Chris really fell in love with that kitchen though!
I think the revel is little better for cold weather with its smaller dual pane windows, insulated tanks, and 4x4. Most heat escapes from the large windows, but its a trade off for a better view inside. We've had ours down to 27 overnight( heated up to 50's daytime) and nothing froze on our tanks or lines outside. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the tour. It’s the most comprehensive one I have found! We are considering this model. We want the flexibility of maneuvering in cities and easy parking. Do you think the additional length compared to your RV limits the usability of this 2020? We considered the shorter NINETEEN model but are worried there is just not enough storage. Would appreciate your advice!
Hello! I would say the maneuverability as far as driving would be fine being only 18 inches longer than ours. But, the parking would be a little bit harder. I think the 2020 would still be fine in most parking situations, but there will be some limitations in tight spots that you can't hang the back end over, or pull through. Small parking lots, some street parking, etc. We just actually had some trouble in Sedona finding a spot at some of the the small hiking trail parking. But we did find one after a while. We looked at the nineteen also and agree it would be pretty tough for storage space for two people. I can say we would "make do" in the larger 24 van, but are very happy with the 22. For 20 to 30K you can but a REAL RV -- a mid 90's Foretravel 36' Class A diesel pusher that sold new for over 300K. Actually, you could buy 2 with what it will cost you in depreciation just to drive this off the dealer's lot.

Cool rv. Same length as my class c. The couch doesn't look comfortable as a bed. Love the kitchen and the front lounge area. For me I want to stay under 21 feet for a class b with a gas engine. But this looks great if you want diesel and a long length.

Here's a question for you: If you had a choice between the Interstate GT featured in this video and an Atlas, which one would you go with?
Hey there! I actually recognize your name from a video on the Picomic I watched a while back! Good question and an easy choice for us. We would choose the AI GT over the Atlas for the simple reason of it being a van body(class B) over an RV body(class B+ or C). Our travel style is pretty fast paced and we really enjoy visiting large cites also. Parking/driving the two are a night and day difference out in the streets and parking lots of a city in our opinion. On the flip side the Atlas is a beautiful RV that feels very spacious inside and when the slide is out it it's HUGE compared to a van. When we are sitting in an RV park for a few weeks or more we really feel the constrictions of the van vs a larger RV. Thanks a lot for watching and the question!

Way overpriced for a Sprinter RV. American Coach Patriot MD4 is much higher quality and far less expensive. Plus they give you a three-year warranty on the coach.

Ya I was also hoping to see a big upgrade on their electronics side. I don't think their target customer base demands it as most are probably plugged into shore power. As of 2019 they doubled the Lifeline AGM batteries they use to 4 but have the same 1000w Magnum inverter we have in a 2014. Would like to see 3000w plus a Lithium option for sure.

One important question, does the refrigerator work while driving long trips? I would like to know that I could stop somewhere and reach for a nice cold drink.
Yes! It is an compressor style fridge, like a residential fridge, instead of an absorption style fridge like most RVs have. One benefit is it is more efficient and they only run off of 12v and 120v. So your fridge is always on with your batteries, and then will switch to 120v when you plug into a campsite or house outlet. The 300 watts of solar help charge the batteries and the van alternator when driving. 😀

Nice, detailed video - thanks! I wonder if the couch is long enough to sleep on (5'10" person) without the two ottomans? If so, I would like a washer/dryer combo in place of one of the ottomans? (and sleeping on the couch without it being lowered?). Overall, the best van design I have come across!
Our couch wall to wall is 70 inches so you could fit lying down width wise. I don't know how comfortable it would be once you add in a pillow and try to sprawl out, but they new AI is supposed to be a little wider. How cool would it be to add a washer dryer in a van!

Thank you and good question! Yes there is a separate window cover kit for the front windshield and driver/ passengers windows. It comes with the vehicle but needs to be set up each night.

Great overview. Does it have blackout shades in the bedroom? I remember yours does not. Also, how about the door that blocks the bedroom for when you want to stealth camp in the city?
The 2020 does have upgraded shades that are blackout. Nice material. But, no bedroom door like ours. You could leave open the bathroom door, but not sure how beneficial that be....... thanks -Aaron
New subscriber, your videos are awesome! When you were showing the power window black out shades, I was curious about the windshield and door windows. Do they have their own shades so you can continue to use the area in private, or is there some sort of curtain/shade by the kitchen/pantry?
Hey Ken, thanks for watching! The windshield and front doors will be a separate shade kit that Airstream will provide. You need to put them up and take them down each night/day. All of the rest of the windows will have the power shades, including the back lounge/bedroom area, sliding door, and kitchen!

Hello, thanks for watching! We did consider a few other models like Pleasure-Way and Roadtrek, but now that we've been in our Airstream for over a year..... we are sure we made the right choice! There are a lot of different models out there and I recommend going to an RV show and "trying on" as many as you can.😃

Not an Airstream on a MB chassis but also 1000’s of dollars less. Hello! Yes, in our excitement looking at the 2020 we didn't even swivel the front seats around! But, yes they are standard and create a front dining area with the swivel table.

Yes, I believe they have always had the propane gen even back to the 2006 model. A diesel gen would be cool!

Not very common for an rv fridge. They do make some of the bigger ones with one. Some rvers buy a seperate ice maker machine.

No slinky on the Airstream Interstates. They have a macerator pump and hose on a power reel under the van. Pretty cool!😎
How is it in cold weather camping, like the revel?
I think the revel is little better for cold weather with its smaller dual pane windows, insulated tanks, and 4x4. Most heat escapes from the large windows, but its a trade off for a better view inside. We've had ours down to 27 overnight( heated up to 50's daytime) and nothing froze on our tanks or lines outside. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the tour. It’s the most comprehensive one I have found! We are considering this model. We want the flexibility of maneuvering in cities and easy parking. Do you think the additional length compared to your RV limits the usability of this 2020? We considered the shorter NINETEEN model but are worried there is just not enough storage. Hello! I would say the maneuverability as far as driving would be fine being only 18 inches longer than ours. But, the parking would be a little bit harder. I think the 2020 would still be fine in most parking situations, but there will be some limitations in tight spots that you can't hang the back end over, or pull through. Small parking lots, some street parking, etc. We just actually had some trouble in Sedona finding a spot at some of the the small hiking trail parking. But we did find one after a while. We looked at the nineteen also and agree it would be pretty tough for storage space for two people. I can say we would "make do" in the larger 24 van, but are very happy with the 22.
