Steve Winwood accomplished more in the music industry before the age of 25 than most musicians do in a lifetime. Multiple instruments, multiple groups, distinctive vocals, enduring songs like Gimme Some Lovin', 'Im A Man', 'Keep On Runnin', ' Dear Mr. Fantasy', 'Can't Find My Way Home', 'Low Spark'. Winwood’s guitar playing is such an unsung talent. His obvious vocal and song writing mastery makes us not recognize at first that he is also a great solo guitar stylist.
Saw and heard Traffic play this in a small club in London in '68 when I was 20 and Steve was 19. One of the best shows ever. Steve would be playing piano, then jump and grab the guitar and start strumming away. Incredible vocals, Chris Wood on sax and Jim Capaldi on drums. Will never forget it.

In SF, CA. they would play the Live Concerts from Winterland on KSAN radio station in the 70's. I was able to see Winwood and his band Live in out door free event in SF in 2000. He still sounded great.
Saw him once in London, ON. After a draw dropping guitar solo on Dear Mr. Fantasy he sat down behind the Hammond organ for the next song. I was very close to the stage to witness more amazing talent. He had one hand on the Hammond keys. The other hand was playing another keyboard run while both feet were playing bass pedal, and he sang into the mic as well. Never missed a note and made it so easy. To know he wrote I'm A Man and Gimme Some Loving at age 15 is truly astounding!.

If anyone wanted to complain about the gods not being fair when they hand out talent, Steve Winwood would be exhibit A. He's a brilliant singer, guitarist, keyboardist AND songwriter. I love his guitar playing here, there's a purity and grace about his playing that is just wonderful to listen to.

Not to brag but i was at this show. My girlfriend and i wondered why they had TV cameras all over the stage. Now i know why and Im glad they did. The Santa Monica Civic was the place to see GREAT shows back then.
The 60's with all of it's turmoil gave us some of the greatest music of all time. The music was made by true musicians and will forever stand the test of time. I was born in the late 60's but was fortunate enough to have older siblings that introduced me to the music and I in turn introduced it to my younger family who has continued the cycle.
i love at the end of the solo when they all somehow feel that epic 20 minute solo start to slow down and they all work their way back to the verse. They are really feeling each other's vibe.

Steve Winwood could keep his own with Eric-Slowhand, on guitar. He’s actually a very underrated guitarist and musician! Miss those days....
Very underrated,
They actually played together. 🎼🎵🎶
Agreed
No he's not.
Try to keep away from tired old cliches.
Avoid them like the plague...

No cliche, I’ve seen him play with Clapton and he’s a lot better than most people realize!
One of the best song ever.. what a guitar!
He is such a great musician. Was killing it when he was 16.
It’s hard to stop it once I start. I just want to go again. Go again. Go again. It’s soooo good. I can literally feel the intensity of the energy coming through the airwaves... amazing.
Good music after all these years fantastic.
Dude on the tambourine is on another planet!

A trip down memory lane, when the weed was weak and the acid was so very good.
Sorry about where you got your weed, but I had some that kicked today's weed's ass.
ah acid! loved it!
acid on concerts! the best!
@@vincentbugalia3858 True!!
big eyes from venus more blotter or windowpane
There is no one playing “true” music anymore. I don’t understand “music” today. Where are the guitarists, bass players, drummers, keyboardists, percussionists...as in the “days of old”? My old!!! 60s-early 90s.
Wondering the same thing. Now,nobody KNOWS music anymore. It is just machines being operated by a computer geek or something now
Then ,it was people who went to school to learn to be musicians,or learned at home from family..Not anymore, sadly.
☘ Irish Honey Badger - I Love this Song. 💘
i just ordered the mr. fantasy album on vinyl just because of that one fucking song.. usually don't listen that much to traffic but this is sooooo fucking good.
+jeremy sauter you need to buy "Welcome to the Canteen" it is a live album. It isn't technically a traffic album but has all the members play on it. Anyways there is a very good live version of Dear Mr. Fantasy on the album
***** i gave it a listen and you're absolutely right :) thanks man!!!

I had everything they and he ever did. Low Spark of High Heeled boys was awesome.
@@MaryEnnismcats77756 Best driving music ever!
Music like this will always make us smile and feel like there is hope for human kind.
Steve never blinked his eyes.
He couldn't. Those were the days.
what eyes? Those were portals
I seen traffic in concert way back then they were fantastic on stage and yes I was tripping on acid when I went to see them oh, what a night!!!!
The song you hear when you're stuck in outer space 😊
I'm hanging out wide open listening to the rip over over over Far out
One of my favorite bands & song. Even stoned or tripping balls they still played great, love their sound!
Timeless classic.
But that dude with the tambourine ,Wow!
Now, that's trippy!
Jim Capaldi, very talented percussionist.
the quality of this video is amazing for the time
Hello Nancy, how are things going with you?
My favorite Traffic song!
also.... Low Spark of High Heeled Boys✌💓⚘⚘🎶
Amazing talent and amazing vocalist.
Wow, I have never seen this before, I recognize that empty glare in his eyes, almost half Alive, half dead stare, the LSD didn't hamper is guitar playing ability, Jeez, didn't miss a note, I never knew he was this good, blown me away,A truely great band that could have been as big as the stones the Beatles if they stuck with it.gonna have to try and get This on DVD.
I had this album in 1971!! I still love this song.
Not to brag but i was at this show. My girlfriend and i wondered why they had TV cameras all over the stage. Now i know why and Im glad they did. The Santa Monica Civic was the place to see GREAT shows back then.
One of my all time favorite songs by Traffic.
Hello Lisa, how are things going with you?
The 60's with all of it's turmoil gave us some of the greatest music of all time. The music was made by true musicians and will forever stand the test of time.
I was born in the late 60's but was fortunate enough to have older siblings that introduced me to the music and I in turn introduced it to my younger family who has continued the cycle.
Traffic in perfect sound ..
i love at the end of the solo when they all somehow feel that epic 20 minute solo start to slow down and they all work their way back to the verse. They are really feeling each other's vibe.
GODDAMIT !!! I have never ever seen anybodys pupils so dialated....except maybe mine once in a mirror.I should have never looked in that mirror!
Hell, I used to get off on that part, as long as I wasn't anywhere near any responsible adults who knew me.
🤣🤣🤣
Yep. Left you with the smoked turkey ;)
Just wow been so long since I sat and just jammed out - miss them days of old- 💙
Me too.
Hello there, how are things going with you?
u never know what instrument Steve will be playing,I think he can play them all!
...I love Steve Winwood s kind to sing. I was a Kid in the 60ties. But I discovered him now. And I am 56!!!
Same here. I didn't discover this until the internet. This wasn't allowed on the radio (at least not in my state). There was a ban on anything considered to be acid rock. This is why artist would lie; when it wasn't so obvious like dear mr fantasy.
Never too late! Welcome!
@@passiveaggressivenegotiato8087 ...I presume you live in the USA. This iconic country besides the Natives, New York and San Francisco ... LOL...Greetings from Berlin in germany.
