    64 year old drummer does a 3 1/2 minute drum solo and not a drop of sweat on his head or face. I remember when the song first came out. An all time favorite.

      @whe have seen a lot of technical progress , but still playing music on my home made tube amplifiers 😀 no more CD No Cassette tapes No Records just a streamer , but on social media almost everyone lost there bearing, and social media can become very toxic overnight,
      people have no brakes on their behavior that makes me worried about the future .

    In 1968 I was in the 4th grade, my class had a birthday party for me. My teacher, Mrs. Goseco said I could play any music I wanted on her record player, I brought in my Iron Butterfly album and had her play all 17:01 minutes of In A Gadda Da Vida. She smiled. She looked at me differently after that.

    Doug Ingle's voice and keyboards made this song. That's a voice you can't replace.

    • @kramalerav
      @kramalerav 2 роки тому +4

      On the one hand, the song is nothing without Doug’s signature baritone. On the other hand, I saw the video of a 1995 SF show with Ingle back in the fold and it was kinda depressing to watch how way past their prime these guys were even in the mid-nineties. So I can see how Bushey wanted to continue to play out with some new blood standing in.
      Hate to say it, but Iron Butterfly should’ve stayed disbanded after 1971.
      I wouldn’t want to tarnish my band’s legacy to that of a nostalgia act. But it’s cool that they have fans still showing up to see them after all these years so that’s just me.

    The first live rock concert I ever saw was in 1967 at Upsala College in New Jersey--main act Jefferson Airplane, opening act Iron Butterfly playing an unforgettably rousing and robust In a Gadda Da Vida. Bought their first LP (long playing, 33 rpm) album, which had a psychedelic cover art butterfly motif. IB still play and sing great.

    Oh that sound of the organ and Whilitzer gets me every time..love that sound. Well done gents. I remember listening to your album in a Christian summer camp up in the Berkshires of Mass.. It was one of the counselors record! lol

      There was no Wurlitzer (which I'm pretty sure is what you meant when you typed "Whilitzer," lol) used on IAGDV, Ingle used a Vox Continental, his instrument of choice.
