Street Fighter V is officially done as it recently passed it's 7 year anniversary, with SF6 being out, there is no more updates left for SFV.
That also means the base game (Street Fighter V) has been removed from Steam Store, and only Street Fighter V: Champion Edition and Street Fighter V: Champion Edition + Season 5 Bundle are being sold, now at a lower base price, as well as the digital upgrade to Champion Edition, for those who have not yet to upgrade, but own the main game.
This also means that the video now only applies to people who ALREADY own a copy of either Street Fighter V or Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. I will update the description to match to avoid any confusion later on.

SF5 is finally the game I wanted it to be back in 2016.
2020 Sept - Champion edition free this month on PS4 with PS+ ... Great addition! Well worth it! Would have paid for it ... What a great game, used to play this on arcade & consoles in the 90's!!
To be clear, you get the Champion Edition patch on the base version of SFV. Meaning all content in Champion Edition is locked, such as characters, stages, costumes etc. You are limited to base version content, while still having the Champion Edition update.

Yes you can play offline, but just know that you need to download the story mode first, if you haven't done so already.

Wait when you buy champion edition do you get all 40 characters for free?
40 characters are included in the Champion Edition yes.
If you buy the Season 5 Pass as well you will get the final 6 characters in the game, making it a total of 46.

This is a confusing part of SFV, as every version will display the lastet version of the game, even if you don't own it.
You should look at your roster and see if you have 16 (Regular) 24 (Arcade) or 40 (Champion)

Hi Dani. Thank you for the video. Currently I have the base game on PS4 - as someone who plans to keep a library of games to play for years in the future when there is no online/PSN available and just playing off the disc, is upgrading worthwhile? Cheers!
I would say the upgrade is worth it for the amount of content you get, especially the roster of characters and the stages, you'd be playing for years before you've been through everything in the game.
So SFV Regular edition do you still have the ability to play with other DLC characters but you just have to purchase them using the in game currency? Also does the online modes match you up with every edition or just the regular edition players?
I alreadyexplained the online part in the end of the video and yes you can buy DLC characters using in-game currency or real money.
Thanks for the vid just bought a ps4 (mostly a retro gamer this is as modern as I get... so late haha) but I bought a used SFV arcade version and it downloaded and then it flipped to champion edition, I saw your comment on how no matter what disc it will say CE. Thanks but one thing when selecting story of SFV it wont let me, is that because this disc is arcade edition? So if I want to play the SFV story I got to get the original disc or will the champion edition have the main story too?
The Story mode "A Shadow Falls" is downloadable content, you need to access the PlayStation Store and search for it, or you can press down when highlighting the game on PS4 menu and select the DLC. It's free, but it needs to be downloaded first.

Thinking about getting the Arcade Edition
I would recommend getting Champion Edition at this point if you care about getting as much content as possible without having to grind your way through.
But Arcade Edition is also a good starter pack for the game.
It seems as though the new characters are coming out one at a time this year. Will we have to buy them individually? Or will there be a pack or Ultimate edition for them?
So far that is unknown for the time being. But expect more info about this when Dan releases in February 2021.

Go for it, warrior! SFV was my return to Street Fighter after many years as well, It's been a rocky ride but it's gotten way way better since it's 2016 launch. SFV is at it's best right now.

now that i own a mortal kombat game, I want to own a SF game, so yeah I been waiting and read which version of SF V to get, your video confirms that I will get SF V champion edition.
I always been careful with games, since I'd hate getting a game that barely seems finish with lack of content *cough* battlefront 2015. I'm not a fan of this type of strategy (to pay dlc and content), all dlc and content update should be free since we pay for complete game.

Not all, only mainline games, you can play SF1, SF2 World Warrior, SF3 New Generation, SF4 and SFV in arcade mode.

On Steam you have the option to pick any of the three versions when you go to the SFV Steam storepage. Each versions will give you the same things as shown in the video.

You will only need to download the lastest game update available, and the Story Mode DLC (optional)

No. Champion Edition is the final edition. However you can buy SFV Champion Edition with the Premium Pass 5 as a bundle. Which will grant you all of the content from the final season of the game.

You should get Street Fighter V: Champion Edition + Season 5 Premium Pass if you want to own everything in the game. It is also worth more and has more content (over 2000)

You can earn all characters by earning in-game Fight Money (FM) through offline and online modes. The modes are Offline: Challenges which has 4 modes, Trials, Demonstrations, Extra Battle and Survival. Online: Casual, Ranked and Lobby matches.
All characters can be bought from the in-game Shop, located on the: Menu -> Shop -> Characters.
The best and fastest way to earn FM is to to go Demonstrations, found under Challenges, and then go through all the tutorials, you don't have to do anything but press a button to skip. Once you've reached the end, you will get EXP and FM, continue this until you've reached the end, and there's a ton of videos, so you'll get a lot of FM. Another easy way is Survival mode, found under Challenges, and beat the CPU's on easy and normal modes, or higher difficulties, if you're skilled enough.

You have to buy the Champion Edition Upgrade Kit. It's available for $25, but it goes on sale from time to time as well.

Champion Edition is the complete version of SFV, you will get a voucher code if you buy the physical version of SFV Champion Edition.

Since SFV is an online service fighting game, nothing needs to be downloaded, as it will register your code to your PSN or Steam with CFN (Capcom Fighters Network).

Yes you can, but it will take a long time to get all content with in-game currency. I would recommend Champion Edition or at least Arcade Edition

If you got it physically, you need to redeem the code included in the box. If you bought it digitally on PSN, try restoring licenses in the settings. For Steam, make sure the Champion Edition DLC is checked in the DLC settings.

Not story mode, but you can get them by either earning enough Fight Money or buying the Season Pass/Characters separately.
Earn enough Fight Money by doing offline modes such as Survival Mode, Challenges, Demonstrations etc. You can earn 350K+ by doing offline modes and more if you also do online.

No. You need to restart the game, make sure you're connected to the internet.

Are you on console or PC? If console, go to your system settings and restore licenses. If PC, made sure Champion Edition DLC is checked, you go to your library, select SFV and go to DLC on thd right side.

Street Fighter V Champion Edition. You get everything the game has offered the past 4 years, in addition to it being priced lower.
If you then want to play the older games, i would recommend Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection. It's not the best port of the older games, but it's decent and close to arcade experience.

That's because Street Fighter EX is not a main series game, is developed by Arika and is non-cannon to the storyline.
this is stupid, SFIV have 3 Version, now SFV also have 3 Version, later SF6 will have 3 version, causing us buy 3 times every single game
All fighting games do this. You also didn't have to buy SFV three times, you could upgrade it, and Arcade Edition was a free upgrade.

No, you'd have to get the Champion Edition + Season 5 pack. I believe there's an upgrade path that gives you both.

Story is DLC but it's free. Once it's downloaded you can find the story by selecting "Story" -> "General Story Mode"

Yes you got the standard edition. You can upgrade to Champion Edition if you wish to do so.

@@dzyv8913 Yes, in 2019 they made all Arcade Edition changes available for Standard edition users for free. That's why it may look and feel like Arcade Edition.
The only difference is that you still only get the base 16 character roster, instead of the 28 character roster in Arcade Edition.

Whats with the pass code for physical game?
..... there is no pass code. There's an unlock code for each copy of Arcade/Champion Edition. The codes are random and not known by anyone except the buyer

@@XENOS_Indie_Game_Dev Everything is on the disc, but because of the content on disc being dlc and the way the game's online is built up. You need the code to unlock the content. No download is needed, simply an unlock.

EX09 was given to all players for free shortly after Champion Edition released. So you should have it.

No it's not. You get SFVCE update, but not the content like all characters, stages etc. You are limited to base version content.

SFV: Champion Edition, for a cost of $30, you get a value of $200+ in total from costumes, stages, characters and even some pre-order and bonus content was that previously locked.
You will also get titles, colors, fighter profile themes and other small cosmetics that is also payable with Fight Money. However, Fight Money is extremely grindy to get (because you can buy characters from FM) that it would take years to get everything with FM alone, this is why they offered Arcade Edition and later, Champion Edition.
