Beautiful hair! I think you'd get a tighter pattern if you skipped the leave in (most of us type 2's don't need it and it just makes our waves more weighed down and looser), and used a good mousse instead then glaze some gel over the hair (nym curl talk line makes mine frizzy from the glycerine, I prefer aussie instant freeze). Also while hair is wet scrunch it good before and even during applying product, let the water form some clumps, the micro plopping is good after you've got the clumps you like already formed. I think you'd notice a lot more definition and amplify your curl pattern if you focus on getting some good clumps especially :) Water/ clumps is what ultimately forms your curls, the products are there to set and de-frizz what simply the water and clumps form. You and your hair are gorgeous!
Personally I love using leave in conditioner. I just make sure it doesn’t have heavy oils, butters. Alternatively you can use a leave in spray or mix it with water, which is what I do.
I have almost the exact same curl pattern and my routine is really similar to use. I noticed my curls look better and more defined when I let them air dry completely without having the towel touch my hair. Just squeeze out the excess water in the shower before applying the products. They come out so defined and like frizz free. Oh and blue lol.
@@mandymoo123 I blot and squeeze out the excess water (no turbie twist) and it takes mine about 3 1/2 hour to fully dry. For reference, I have shoulder length hair.
I love that you're honest when you're not sure of something, like diffusing techniques, and how you admit you're totally impatient about all the tedious time-consuming steps. xD 100% relatable!
as a type 2, i like to brush my hair before putting in product, make sure it’s soaking wet and then go to town with gel and scrunching. i get less frizz and more definition and it looks better for longer
Use the gel more of a glaze over the outside. It’s making a cast.. so it just needs to be on the outside of the clumps. If you do want a cast use a buttload of the Aussie instant freeze after a mousse. Curl talk or Aussie curls are good. But I think your soft waves are really pretty & that’s the look I personally prefer. I get a cast really easily & don’t like it much.
I like it 🖤 the best results I’ve gotten with gel is defining my hair with the cream, then scrunching a little to form curl clumps, then GLAZING the gel over the clumps and basically all over to kinda seal in the clumps and not break it like when we rake through. Scrunch that then hover diffuse all over til I feel a cast, then scrunch with diffuser. I like raking gel in when I want a more like, mane look, and the glazing for better definition and longer lasting curls/waves.
I have this same curl pattern on the top of my head, the bottom of my hair is weirdly a lot curlier. I’ve always been afraid to embrace a fluffier, “frizzier” style of loose waves (though your hair doesn’t even look frizzy) but it looks fantastic on you, so I’m kinda inspired to see if I can embrace a looser style on my hair
Hi! The most COMMON reason why your hair is more curly on the ends than the roots or midshaft sections, is because your hair is too long or heavy to curl at the roots. If you want to resolve this, get a trim or haircut! An inch of trimming or some short layers can definitely help without losing any length. If you can’t cut it, try finger coiling the straighter areas to “train” it to curl like the ends. Never use a curling iron or straightener! This will damage any curl! I also recommend using more product in the straight areas to help it curl. Hope this helped!
Your comment 'what you get with my type of hair is always a bit of a mystery' rings so true for my hair as well. You have managed to do what took me years and years to figure out and still I struggle at 50. You have stunning looks and hair! : D
i love how personal and realistic you are. i honestly just started watching you and you have already helped me with tips on my odd puffy hair. (people tell me i have 2c pieces, mostly 3a curls and i have a 3b curl in front of my face when i scruch and use the right products for my hair). you might have 2b-2c waves and curls but you help me learn something every day. 💜💜
Girl, people hate on frizz too much. A little bit of frizz just adds texture and volume. It just depends on the look you’re going for. Have you ever tried pixie diffusing? I usually do that after hovering over my roots. I don’t use a leave in conditioner but I LOVE the NYM’s curl cream in conjunction with the NYM’s curl gel. And I really try not to mess with the cast in my hair until it’s totally dry. Then I use Verb’s Ghost oil to scrunch the crunch out of my hair. Its smells SO good and it doesn’t make my hair greasy. I would really love to see you do the clump method. You have beautiful hair and I’d bet it would turn out amazing. I’d watch that vid for sure.
I have to thank you for this video, after buying the products you recommended my hair is absolutely beautiful! I’m finally able to manage my beach wavy hair which I struggled with so much in the past. I also recently dyed all my hair purple so the shampoo and conditioner you recommended worked perfectly since it’s silicone and sulfate free
Your hair looks great, "frizz" or not. It has defined pieces, which gives it visible shape and texture, but is still soft and natural looking. And it stands up to being handled, which is like +100 right there, totally hair goals for me.
I am just starting my hair care journey. A lot of my friends have beach waves/straight hair, and I’ve always wanted that especially in the summer when I’m getting my hair wet at the beach. For about a year now I have been using a hair drying brush, waking up at 6 to dry my hair before school every day. I’ve been applying direct heat onto my hair almost everyday, basically frying it. I’ve looked back at how my hair used to be, shiny and able to grow quickly. I’m glad I found your videos, since there are a lot of videos for curly hair and wavy hair, but I’m a 2b all the way. My hair journey is similar to yours. I loved my hair when I was younger, I had natural shine, length, and beach waves along with thick hair. But as I started to get older, the frizz and not quite curly hair kicked in. I’m about to go to high school and after my failed attempt at a bob want to grow out my hair and go all natural. I really like your videos, and love your hair and how you embrace your natural curl pattern. I would also love suggestions on more hair care UA-camrs if you have any, and hope you keep making videos like these!
I LOVE these types of videos cause I have the same hair as you so it's nice to watch someone who can relate to the long! process of washing and styling wavy hair 💗 Blue
I feel you were one of the first videos I watched that got me thinking. My hair is look and feeling so much healthier now that I style it wavy. And I'm the same as you I got a bit of frizz but I don't care ain't nobody got time for a FULL routine like the curly hair influencers lol
Glad your hair is looking healthy again! I think it looks great! I used to use the curl talk gel, and while I like it, it doesn't have enough hold for me. I like really hard hold products because that's the only way my hair will last for days after washday. My holy grail washday routine incorporates layering super hard hold products. Most often I use curls Blueberry Bliss Leave-In, Jessicurl Spiralicious gel, Harry's Gel, and then top it off with Aussie Instant freeze mousse. You'd think it would weigh your hair down (my hair is fine, low to med porosity, 2a/b waves), but my hair loves it! I have been thinking about repurchasing the curl talk gel and using it under Harry's in place of the jessicurl gel to get more protein into my routine, so I'm curious to see if that goes well!
Blue I use Shea moisture products. I just started using their shampoo and conditioner along with the cream & gel. Wish I would of done that sooner but I’m so cheap. Lol my hair is much curlier than yours soooo the extra conditioner used in this video was a highlight for me. 😏
Thanks so much for continuously updating your videos, At 27, Ive just started realizing my hair is wavy, similar to yours, but I didn’t know where to start with hair products and this video has helped the most.
Blue; my favorite brands are göt 2b and Kinky Curly. My favorite products from those brands are the be twisted air dry curl foam, the glued gel, the knot today leave in, and the curling custard.
I kinda gave up on my hair last spring. It wasn’t waving anymore and I tried different things to refresh it and still nothing. My hair dries mostly straight now but is still frizzy/kinky around the roots which makes me think it could be wavy still….idk man wavy hair is a chore 😩 props to you for still putting effort into it. Really enjoyed this routine!! And maybe one day I’ll give my hair another go🖤 also, blue! Haha forgot to put that in there
wavy hair is def ANNOYING i feel. mine was super wavy/curly when it was shorter and now I'm growing it out it just doesn't seem to be as defined, I do find though that regularly trimming it helps to make the ends curl and trying to layer it so it's not weighed down helps. but honestly each wash day has a different result and is never consistent, it's frustrating when planning to wear your hair down the day after washing it and it doesn't turn out good 😔
@@Ra1nb0wPuff you have to learn to love your new hair phase! My hair used to be super curly and then began to be more wavy, I hated it at first but now I’m loving it
when i brush my hair out after showering and don‘t put in any product, it looks really straight, with a few curls and waves at some spots. i usually use miss jessie‘s leave in conditioner, a bit of gel and a LOT of mousse, and it turns out basically like yours in this video
“Everyday is kind of a mystery u don’t know what ur gonna get” so true and for some reason my hair always decides to come out frizzy when im filming it for a video 🤣

WOAH its been a while since we got an updated routine 😭✋💗Girl your hair looks absolutely stunning I CANT - I love that gel too btw 😫I only use a lil bit tho
If you haven't tried the NYM curl cream that goes along with the gel you definitely should! Also you can apparently just mix it with the gel and apply at the same time, so that's nice PS. Blue
Blue 💙 Right now I’m using Olaplex to try and just get my curls back because I’ve dyed my hair so much but after I think I want to go back to Shea moisture ❤️
Blue! I used to use not your mothers a lot and honestly I just got bored. Recently I started using pineapple curls but I haven’t used it long enough to see much of a difference! I also use Aussie instant freeze gel and shea moisturizer mousse, I’ll sometimes use more mousse and skip the gel or use less mousse and add gel :)
blue :) type 2 waves & curls here!! my holy grail is Aveda Curl Enhancer. I’m still experimenting with every other step for exact products, BUT I enjoy a mousse more than a gel. It’s not as heavy. Also, I’ve been trying a new technique of not scrunching and it allows my natural curls to form in a ringlets & cuts down on frizz.
Blue! My hair is pretty similar to yours (but i would say a little less wavy/curly) I also can’t use coconut oil/heavy curl products because it weighs my hair down since it’s fine and not super curly. Also- the not your mothers gel is definitely a lighter hold gel and it’s hard to get a cast with it. Your hair looks great IMO but if you wanted to try to get more definition i would definitely recommend trying a stronger hold gel (aussie instant freeze gel and tresemme mega sculpting gel are 2 cheap options i’d recommend with no silicones/sulfates) either in addition to the NYM gel or on their own. And yes- use a ton of gel no matter what kind you use, because you have a lot of hair. I was shocked to realize how much gel i should actually be using to get hold- like more than a golf ball amount. The Mousse gel mousse method is another popular method you could try if you’re interested in experimenting! But overall i think your routine looks great and so does your hair!
My hair loves Treluxe curl enhancing styling gel. My hair gets weighed down super easily and this styling gel is light-weight! Can get it at some Walgreens, which is a plus. I use it right before applying a stronger holding gel.
Your hair..is like the most close to what my hair is..and i like that u show us realistoc hair struggles..even tho i use all those products sometimes i still struggle with making my hair looking decent😂
this summer i started to notice lil s shaped waves do i decided to follow some tutorials and see what my hair would do. one side became wavy 2b curls but the other side stayed straight ish with loose s shaped curls and underneath my hair it’s really wavy lol, but once school started i kinda just gave up in my hair and straightened every day. but now i would love to start getting my hair back on track to see just how wavy it gets!! but it’s a big commitment for me because my hair will look like a frizzy lions mane once i stop straitening it 😐 so anyone with wavy/curly hair please help me lol, i’m sitting here typing this comment just after waking up when i went to bed with wet hair and now i have poofy frizzy wavy hair 😅
Blue. Your hair is gorgeous I wish I could get that kind of volume !! My natural wave pattern is similar to yours and although my hair can get frizzy too I’ve learned the hard way too many times that every time I think I should go in with more product to reduce the frizz I just ruin my hair. The day my hair looked best I was in a hurry and used only a small amount of product and was shocked to learn sometimes less rly is more !! My personality type is -always go big or go home- but when it comes to hair products I have to resist the urge
I feel like I need gel, but it's always so sticky and difficult to apply for me. Sooo I do mousse. Much easier. Maybe not as great of results. I've been using Curlsmith, but imo it's overhyped and Giovanni and Shea Moisture are much more affordable alternatives that work just as well. HOWEVER. I visited my parents over the holidays and didn't feel like packing shampoo/conditioner and figured I'd just use my step mom's stuff since she also has curly hair. No joke, the Suave Almond & Shea Butter shampoo & conditioner. Detangled with a Goody TangleFix. Then styled with Shea Moisture Curl Smoothie & Shea Moisture Mousse. My hair felt so soft and clarified. I'm still in a definition rut, but that combo made for a pretty solid good hair day for a couple days.
This video was so helpful, thank you! I have a very similar curl pattern and I actually use the same shampoo and conditioner and I love it but I’ve been getting really anxious because I feel like I lose so much hair in the shower especially since I also don’t wash my hair everyday so this was really reassuring! :)
You should try just conditioning your hair when you shower and then shampoo only like once a week…….. it works sooo well. I love your hair btw it is so pretty!
this is the best and most relatable curly hair video i've ever seen. thank you 🖤 it's interesting how the frizz in my blonde hair shows soo much more than in dark hair... tragic really 😭 how do you sleep with your hair? cause that's a real struggle for me. oh and also, blue 💙
My hair is just like yours but shorter. I can't use coconut or really any protein cause my hair gets straw like. Trying to find anything without coconut is almost impossible.
I almost never use a diffuser on my hair because I am too lazy haha. Then again, I spend most of my time at home and I luckily live in a place where it's not so humid so my hair dries within 2-3 hours or so. I probably also don't use the diffuser correctly cause the hair does turn out to be frizzier than when I airdry 😆
yo! I have almost the same hair type as you a good wash n go that I used was the shea moisture: Jamaican black castor oil strength and restore smoothie. it has no coconut oil and is much lighter than the curling enhancing smoothie and it smells so sweet.
I loooove your hair!! Oh!! Blue! And I really liked your routine and wanna give it a try! I’ve been wanting to try that gel and you just confirmed I need it in my life. It’s cheaper then what I currently use too! So that’s a win!
Hey! Have you tried any curling mousse without using gel? I've been experimenting with my hair for the last couple of months and I've found that curling mousse makes them way more textured and not frizzy. Btw we have the same hair type and because of your videos (which are very helpful!) I tried to experiment with my wavy hair and I love it now! But for me gel didn't work that well..
@@taylaios I use Tresemme curl conditioning mousse and it doesn't usually get crunchy, only if put too much accidentally 😅 but in that case I scrunch it with some hair oil and it's back to normal. I think you should give it a try!
I personally brush my hair before I shower so I don't have to deal with so much hairloss in the shower but there are still a few strands. idk it's just easier like that for me
Hey Taylor 😍 I have a question for you...I've just recently begun experimenting with silicones again (all of them, not just H2O soluble) and have gotten confidence to do that from your past videos and Mell and some others...so I'm curious why you went away from them again? Let me know, I'm super interested! Lots of love to you, I love all of your videos!
I recently started doing wavy hair care and 3rd day I have no way to refresh while waiting for new products to arrive and my husband said I looked like I just woke up with bed hair…after I tried to revive it. (Cries) 😭

The Mousse gel mousse method is another popular method you could try if you’re interested in experimenting! But overall i think your routine looks great and so does your hair!
Do you use hair gel every day or just after showers? My main concern/problem is getting my hair to stay nice after wash days haha
i have not tried this but i used to never like my curly hair now im trying ways to style it and maintain it and im starting to like it
Thank you for posting this updated routine!! Your amazing and so beautiful! Looking forward to more videos!
Miss Jessie's multi cultural curl cream would look do so well in your hair!! Pls try. From one curly to another ✨
Refreshing attitude!! I’m impatient too…I think it looks great ❤
Blue and you taught me how to girl. I am 31. Thank you so much. I love you. Platonically. ♥
My hair loves Treluxe curl enhancing styling gel. My hair gets weighed down super easily and this styling gel is light-weight! Can get it at some Walgreens, which is a plus. I use it right before applying a stronger holding gel.
I too have a lot of curls 😐before I used to hate them but now I like my curls 😍❤
Woah, am I first? Also I love ur vids ❤️
Blue! I have wavy hair and I love schwarzkopf moisture kick line 💗
I was scrolling through wavy hair routine videos and yours pops up, I notice the shirt and realize I have the exact same shirt!
Your hair..is like the most close to what my hair is..and i like that u show us realistoc hair struggles..even tho i use all those products sometimes i still struggle with making my hair looking decent😂
Blue and I love tigi products especially their bead head curl cream.
this summer i started to notice lil s shaped waves do i decided to follow some tutorials and see what my hair would do. one side became wavy 2b curls but the other side stayed straight ish with loose s shaped curls and underneath my hair it’s really wavy lol, but once school started i kinda just gave up in my hair and straightened every day. but now i would love to start getting my hair back on track to see just how wavy it gets!! but it’s a big commitment for me because my hair will look like a frizzy lions mane once i stop straitening it 😐 so anyone with wavy/curly hair please help me lol, i’m sitting here typing this comment just after waking up when i went to bed with wet hair and now i have poofy frizzy wavy hair 😅
You’re so pretty!! Oh and btw BLUE 🤍
blue! love the change in your routine
Blue - I just discovered Miche and I've spent a small fortune LOL to buy all their products. All my daughters are using it too :) Beautiful hair!
I'm still in a definition rut, but that combo made for a pretty solid good hair day for a couple days.
omg you and your hair are beauuutiful 😍 excited to stop blow drying my hair into submission and embrace my curls
How do you keep your curls at night ? Everytime when i wake up my curls are gone..
try using a silk pillowcase :)
this is the best and most relatable curly hair video i've ever seen. thank you 🖤
it's interesting how the frizz in my blonde hair shows soo much more than in dark hair... tragic really 😭
how do you sleep with your hair? cause that's a real struggle for me.
oh and also, blue 💙
Your hair is GORGEOUS
My hair is just like yours but shorter. I can't use coconut or really any protein cause my hair gets straw like. Trying to find anything without coconut is almost impossible.
ur curls R so pretty bestie
Blue! I use Shea moisture shampoo and conditioner bit I use OGX coconut mousse which I LOVE. I ALSO USE SUN BUM LEAVE-IN AND an oil blend that I make
Lol she’s so funny. I love this video! Subscribed 😊
blue lol ! ilysm and tysm for helping me embrace my natural hair !
Love your personnality !! Finally glad I found something with the exact same hair type as me 🥲🥲💕
yo! I have almost the same hair type as you a good wash n go that I used was the shea moisture: Jamaican black castor oil strength and restore smoothie. it has no coconut oil and is much lighter than the curling enhancing smoothie and it smells so sweet.
Curlsmith conditioning wash and in shower styler I bet will change your life !!!
When I use the gel, I warm it up by rubbing my hands together with a little bit of water. And then I praying hands and scrunch the product in
I recommend finger coiling so there would be less frizz and instead of raking the gel to smooth it around your hair but overall your hair is amazing 💙
I loooove your hair!! Oh!! Blue! And I really liked your routine and wanna give it a try! I’ve been wanting to try that gel and you just confirmed I need it in my life. It’s cheaper then what I currently use too! So that’s a win!
Your hair looks beautiful. Absolutely love it!
I used that not your mothers shampoo and conditioner but there was too much buildup. It made my hair curly but in a weighed down way
This is really useful. I feel likey hair has the ability to look like yours but I'm just lost are what I'm doing.
"Becayse I was laying on my bed on tiktok for an hour and a half" 🤣🤣🤣☠️☠️
Blue! I like the routine. Seems easy enough. I tend to like few step routines lately. I am too lazy too!
I haven’t tried a mousse before! I always thought it made hair crunchy feeling. What is your favorite??
@@taylaios curl mousse gives crunch but you can scrunch it out with towel, also try loreal mousse
@@taylaios I use Tresemme curl conditioning mousse and it doesn't usually get crunchy, only if put too much accidentally 😅 but in that case I scrunch it with some hair oil and it's back to normal. I think you should give it a try!
Well everyone hair works differently.
blue!🤍
Thank you so much! You’re gorgeous omg!!beautiful skin and hair too!!
I personally brush my hair before I shower so I don't have to deal with so much hairloss in the shower but there are still a few strands. idk it's just easier like that for me
"which makes it look absolutely terrible"
*Looks bomb af*
Blue 💙💙 Thanks for updating us on your hair routine!
It looks so beautiful, ! We have the same hair type. Also frizz is good it gives you volume :)
Just learnt about plump method the other day and i have wavy hair. Im currently playing around with it. Could be worth a try
Hi!! I explain everything in my video titled “how I fixed my damaged hair” and I’m not against silicones, I just don’t like Moroccan oil anymore!!
@@taylaios thanks beauty! Your hair is looking stunning 😘
I love miss Jessie’s you should try their products! Blue 💙💙
"This is my day four hair. It's gross."
*works it anyway 😂😂😂😂
Your hair looks great! Beautiful. 👍😊
I recently started doing wavy hair care and 3rd day I have no way to refresh while waiting for new products to arrive and my husband said I looked like I just woke up with bed hair…after I tried to revive it. (Cries) 😭
