Definitely type 2c. Not only do I get the dreaded "triangle head" but when dry and no products in it, it gets so frizzy it looks like I got in a fight with a light socket and lost.
Try mousses for volume, and gel and diffusing to maintain frizz. There isn’t much you can do about bald patches unless you’re able to remedy them or hide them. A simple and typical wavy routine would be 1. Shampoo (or low poo or co-wash and make sure it’s sulfate free) 2. Condition (may not be necessary if co-washing, also remember to squish to condish before rinsing out thoroughly) 3. Leave in conditioner (personally I rake this through when my hair is sopping wet and then squish to condish) 4. Run through and scrunch mousse or gel into sopping wet hair 5. Plop with microfiber towel or soft cotton t shirt for about 10-20 minutes depending on your needs (too short will leave your hair too wet and too long can ruin your curl pattern) 6. Then go in with another layer or gel/mousse onto the plopped but still damp hair (it’s up to you how you want to do this. You can go gel-plop-mousse, mousse-plop-gel, mousse-plop-mousse, or gel-plop-gel. Find what works for you). Gently run through the hair without disrupting the curls and very gently scrunch in. 7. Air dry or diffuse 8. You may notice your hair is a bit hard after drying from the mousse/gel. This is called a cast. If you do this at night and are preparing your hair for morning, it’s recommended you leave the cast in to sleep and scrunch it out in the morning. (Use bonnets, scarves, etc to protect hair while sleeping). TLDR, just try a bit of curly girl method.
This hair type is really a curse and a blessing. It’s so thick and course and waves weird so when I wanna do anything with it I swear it takes forever and I never know what styles to do because it’s so different. I can do whatever I want when it comes to wearing it down but the longer it gets the more difficult it is to work with 🥲
I got told I'm 2b. It curls straight out of the shower. Big volume, mostly waves plus ringlets and corkscrews. If I straighten it and it so much as thinks of rain, it poofs out immediately. I can not keep it straight.. is it 2b? I'm thinking not. I can't manipulate it into being wavy , certainly never straight!
I'm 2A! Thanks for this video, I always thought that I had straight hair because it is quite straight, but everytime I get out from the shower my hair is in loose waves. This was so nice to discover my hair type :) It still is lightly wavy when after I'm done brushing my hair, but when I get out of the shower it's much more pronounced
Oke... I think my hair is also mix type 1 and 2. Because some of the hairs are slightly bend, some of them more wavy,... a few are curly. I only get triangle shape after shampooing 🤔.
This is long ago, but i think this is my hair too. I tried some curl products but my hair wont hold a solid wave, but it doesnt fall quite straight either
Thank you for making this video! I've encountered several too many gate keepers who belong to the 3 and 4 groups family and they don't seem to accept that slightly wavy hair is 2A, instead they say it's just straight hair, when clearly it has waves! You have a great and accurate view and very helpful, for once a fantastically accurate and helpful hair type video. You rock!
My daughter and I are at opposite ends of the type 2 spectrum. Hers is 2A, a little wavy almost straight. Mine is 2C, deeply wavy almost curly, with all the unruliness that can come with it like "triangle head" and frizz to the point of looking like I got in a fight with a light socket and lost when it's dry and no products in it.
This really helped me to understand my hair...my hair goes from 1c, 2a, 2b and 2c...it is a mix. My back of my head is all 2c and little of 2b...the front is mix od 1c and 2a..but if it is short it is more wavy, but when it is long it is a mix of those. My hair is easy to keep a wave from braids, my favorite way to style my hair. Only days my hair is straight is when it is time for a cut, damage and dry.
Wow!! This was the best explanation of hair type I believe I've ever heard! And I'm so glad that you pointed out that a person can have 2 different types of hair types! With age and hormone changes, my hair has gone from 1b to 2a on one side and 2b on the other. I was starting to think that my Gemini was starting to show itself on the outside as well! Lol
Definitely mixed. I have 2 A B & C, maybe a little 3. Its so weird. Always hated it growing up because we didnt have good products then. And as soon as humidity hit, it would swell up unto a frizzy poof. But I use a good serum now and get lots of compliments but I HAVE TO apply it wet and it dries like beautiful silky wavey curls that relax into soft waves over the next 2 days. If I let it dry too much b4 applying serum, it's an unruly poofy frizzy uncontrollable disaster.
My hair is all of the above 😅 I have strands that are almost straight, and others that are ringlets. It definitely needs to be treated more like hair on the curly side, though, because it does not get oily and requires a lot of TLC with deep conditioning and gentle manipulation
Yaas, me too. One strand can be straight with hardly any wave another a tight ringlet. I call it bipolar hair, lol. Im using a serum now that magically blends my waves and curls sonehow. I used a ton of conditioner, leave on conditioner, and a ton of serum though. But at least I dont have to curl or blow dry to get a nice style. I can blow straight but it will only stay straight if humdity is low tho
I feel like I’m a mix of 2a and 2b cause my ends are more a 2b and the mids are 2a. but sometimes my hair can look more straight and flat and my waves don’t stay, I feel like it really fluctuates over the day and different air humidity 😭 it turns out a little different every time I wash it too
2a-2b here ❤ All my life I thought I had curly hair. My teens were horrible due to not knowing my hair type. I used anything to try to make it curly, vaseline, egg whites, vanilla until I learned in my early 20's that I have wavy hair.
Omg, thank you for this video! I will be 50 in a few months and all of my life I had super straight hair, but in the last few years it has been changing . My older cousin also has straight hair when she was younger, but now has wavy hair. I was curious to see if mine doing the same thing so just last week I put leave in conditioner, mousse and hair oil after showering . I crunched it up a little and just let it air dry . What a crazy discovery it was to see my hair is wavy now!! 😳 I just need to figure out how to style it and take care of it in its new state
I thought I was 2b but the 'triangle' really hit home, I'm always cutting my hair in styles where I can thin out the bottom because it bothers me so much
Hi and so glad your helping the world of curious hair people. I was wondering if you could educate us on type 3 hair...my daughter falls in this category between b and c. Would love to see a video on that and recommendations on product as well.
i actually had 2b hair and i HATED it. i went through a lot of bleaching, straightening every day, keratin treatments that left my hair with a texture similar to 2a type. no matter what products or techniques i use, i can’t go back to my natural waves
Just swim at the beach and pool it remove the keratine treatment Let it air dry dont blow dry it Wash ur hair with sulfate shmpoo and conditioner And u will get ur natural hair
My father had extremely fine hair, my mother has super textured super curly hair - tight curls. I got some dry frizzy mess in between, curls underneath my hair, frizzy waves on top.
I have a mix, underneath it’s 3a and 2c and goes to 2b in her back but in the very front, what everyone sees is 2a…don’t really understand it. I’m new to the texture hair, embracing it so we’ll see how it goes with taking care of it like a curly girl should.
I loved this video. I have always had frizzy hair. I feel like when I was younger it was a lot frizzier but as I got older it has calmed down a little bit. I wanted to ask you, what do you think would be the best method to get rid of the frizz? I am not sure if I have textured hair but my mom does have curly hair.
Thank you for the explanation^^ Helped me to understand a bit, tho im still unsure of what type my hair is, when i just wash it as regular straight hair it still looks a bit more like a mix of 2a/2b. However difusing it a bit makes it look like 3a the further towards the ends it goes. Will probably have to find some proffesional to help with figuring out exactly. Much love
I always used to think I had straight hair but that it was just quite shitty and that's why it wasn't "smooth" or whatever - turns out it's wavy 2A hair! I've been unintentionally forcing it straight by always brushing and blowdrying after washing it, basically heating it into a straight shape, and then after a few days the waves would start to come out (or if my hair got damp). Really wanna learn to embrace my waves now, I think it'll make my hair look way nicer than when I treat it like it's straight!
This video is an eye opener, thank you! I do have a question though, is it possible for hair types to naturally change throughout the course of a person's life?
Yes. Women in particular can experience significant changes during puberty or perimenopause. And sometimes people who lose hair to cancer have it grow back an entirely new type!
I think I have 2b-2c here bc like it’s very frizzy when I comb it out and it is wavy when wet. When I started putting curly products in my waves looked so pretty like how it would be if I had braids in. Ugh finding out your corrext hair type does wonders. I literally didn’t know wtf to do with it growing up other than straightening it because when I combed it out it got way too frizzy.
My hair is very long, down to my butt and it looks kinda straight up until my shoulders then the middle length has a wave very big S shaped up until my waist where it then turns into curly C shaped tips at the end. So when I look at 2 A to me it looks way too loose at the bottom but 2 B is already way too wavy and defined at the crown whereas mine sort of straightens in my crown because of the length weighing down I suppose and curls a lot at the tips where it just hangs down
I think I have more waves on the bottom like s shaped I think its either 2b or 2c its most likely 2b loose s shaped curls and smooth and thick easily gets tangled.
First time hearing that hairdressers like type 2 hair. It's been a real struggle of mine where I'd rather learn to cut and style it on my own then going to the hairdresser that doesn't understand it. :|
im either 2a or 1b. my hair texture is medium, and not that coarse or thick. its just normal. but, i notice that everytime i airdry my hair, it usually just shrinks like, a slight s shape. it flicks alot on the ends, my bangs also have an S shape too, whenever i try to cut my hair straight , it always goes back to being an S shape or just flick on the ends. i have layered hair, and the ends are always flicking and bending , like.. the short layers of my hair has a more defined S shape. and also, whenever i brush my hair, it looks puffy, it looks like i just woke up. my mom even pointed it out if i ever brush my hair but i seriously do. its so annoying to know wht my hair type is but, im probably 1b/2a. edit: yh i have 1b/2a hair. whenver i airdry my hair n just brush it when its rlly wet, i swear it has DEFINED 2a , like rlly defined. super DUPER defined. anyways, the back of my hair is basically 1b , it is wavy though, but not as wavy as my shorter parts. yes i have a layered hair cut, i recommend cutting ur hair into a hush cut if you want ur waves to be defined n, bonus points, you don't need to style it cause, after washing and drying it, boom its already styled cuz of the waves of your hair. 🗣️
But what should I do when half of my hair is 2b and half is 2a? Because no matter if I style it straight or wavy, the other half that doesn’t match makes it look sort of not done or not styled properly…
I'm 2A, but I have so much hair so I just decided to straighten it. I do it once a year and my favorite hair salon only charges me $160 so I'm pretty lucky. If I don't straighten it, it just gives me nightmare...
my hair started suddenly changing after i hit 13 my mom has 3b/3a hair and my grandmother has 3a hair my grandpa has 2c hair my dad has 2c / 3a rn my hair is like 2b 2c but it has been getting more and more curly and it still isint slowing down
I have type 2b but only when i use a shampoo without products afterwards. The only Part of my hair that is always wavy is the underneath Part Would it bring my waves back when i buy curl products for example the curl conditioner from kerastase?
I get really curl y baby hairs and my hair was curly as a baby but after year's of damage heat and dye im not sure what i have anymore 😕😕 just looking to get my curls back as rarely use heat and dont dye anymore so its much healthier
Hi Mike, is it possible to have different hair types depending on what length the hair is? For example, if my hair is grown out to shoulder length with no layers or texturizing, I'm definitely type 2C. But if my hair is short bob, it's 3A because less weight means more curl definition. So what am I??
Thank for your video💕 I think I have either type 1B/C or 2A🤔 it is very thick and when I have shirt Bob I mean ear lengths I can make it smooth style but then they grow longer they start bend up and have that hideous triangle, looks ridicules so I cut it but I dreaming of longer Bob but is very difficult to style 😓 Help pelase 🙏🤐
I'm confused. I have majorly like 1b hair but rarely frizz up like 1c. But I do have obvious bends like you at the nape and my hairdresser even commented on she likes my right side of hair better than my left hair because the right side is 'obedient' and will do whatever she wants to do on my hair LMAO Anyway I got tighter curls/waves on my natural white hair, which is so weird LMAO I used to think my white/grey hair must be so damaged but all I did just air dry. Most probably I'm a major 1b, with few 2a, and random 2b/2c LOL
"wavy hair is the easiest to style because you can make it straight, have nice beach waves, or make it curly" make it straight? definitely not unless you want frizz... unless you mean with a straightening tool but u can do that to any hair... and he said that type 2b hair has no straight bits. ummm... and my hair wants to be curly but when it curls its not curly enough to be good
My hair is 2c on wash day, 2b on second day, then 2a until wash day or I refresh it lmao, a real chameleon
Definitely type 2c. Not only do I get the dreaded "triangle head" but when dry and no products in it, it gets so frizzy it looks like I got in a fight with a light socket and lost.
Same here lol
Hey can i get your hair care routine
@sidhantrana8607 only luck I have in taming the frizz is deep conditioning followed by either an anti frizz serum or hair grease to seal it
@@sabrinazakrowski1399 Thanks
Put your light products in while wet. Then diffuse dry.
I’m definitely 2B… I’m so stuck what to do with it because it’s frizzy, flat, low volume, fine & low density. I have a lot of bald patches!

I am between 2b and 2c. No volume on top. Fine. Looking for products that gives me definition but that it's light. Help!

Oke... I think my hair is also mix type 1 and 2. Because some of the hairs are slightly bend, some of them more wavy,... a few are curly. I only get triangle shape after shampooing 🤔.
I feel the same way - for me, the longer I go without washes, the straighter it gets, but also when I curl it, it doesn't last

This is the best most straight forward explanation I've ever heard 💙 I think I've finally figured my hair type out 🤣 thanks
😘😘😘

Mine would be some hair strands are 2b to 2c so I was hella confused if I was diagnosing wrong but same with Gemini part 🤣
Great explanation. I have 2c hair and I love it. I think category 2 is the most beautiful hair type. Golden middle. Bless you.
Idk if I’m 1C or 2A maybe a mix of both ?
Definitely mixed. I have 2 A B & C, maybe a little 3. Its so weird.

@@immaculateheart1267 ooh I’m intrigued by the serum, can I ask what it is? My hair is the same-beachy waves and tight perfect lil ringlets lol

Damn, so I guess I have 2C.
Explaining how the hair grows out really made it possible to confirm hair type without actually growing it out first.
What products would you recommend for 2A hair that is dry and frizzy?
2a-2b here ❤ All my life I thought I had curly hair. My teens were horrible due to not knowing my hair type. I used anything to try to make it curly, vaseline, egg whites, vanilla until I learned in my early 20's that I have wavy hair.
I'm a mix of 2A and 2B. Thanks for this video

I'm not sure if I have type 1b or type 2a. It's straight but it has a bend.
Sameee
You could just have type 1c/2a
2b gal here! Recently found this out; scrunching helps a bit.
I thought I was 2b but the 'triangle' really hit home, I'm always cutting my hair in styles where I can thin out the bottom because it bothers me so much

You can get it back by allowing it to grow
This is great. We need videos explaining how we style each best and mainly how we care for each 🙏
Thank you. That is the best description I have heard. 👏👏👏
My father had extremely fine hair, my mother has super textured super curly hair - tight curls. I got some dry frizzy mess in between, curls underneath my hair, frizzy waves on top.
My father has classic type 1 and my mom has 2C..
I've inherited hair like yours..i think we are hair twins 😅

I was lucky to find I had wavy hair after some hormonal changes. I think I'm solidly a 2b. 🎉

My hair is 2A when i just shampoo and condition and then blowdry. But when i use curl cream and diffuse, it turns into type 2C
Thanks so much for this video, Mike! Bless you!
I always used to think I had straight hair but that it was just quite shitty and that's why it wasn't "smooth" or whatever - turns out it's wavy 2A hair! So what defines fragile waves on top and ringlet/corkscrew curls on bottom? Edit: And hair that won't hold its structure if handled?
Me between type 2B and Type 2A
Same 😂
Same
me too but I think I've heard ppl can have more than 1 type so you might be both!
Hi Mike, what do you think about the kerastase initialiste scalp &hair serum? is it a good product for shedding hair?
I think I have 2b-2c here bc like it’s very frizzy when I comb it out and it is wavy when wet. Does your hair look curly when it's short ?
I m 2c but sometimes 3a, depends on the weather.
It is very dry, and when its 2a, then I m having a bad hair day 🤣😂
Thank you so much !!
So that's why my hair looks like a triangle. One of my worst fears when I'm out along with also my hair getting frizzy 😅
My hair is 2c/3a and other days of not washing it’s 2a-2c when the curls get loose.
my hair started suddenly changing after i hit 13 my mom has 3b/3a hair and my grandmother has 3a hair my grandpa has 2c hair my dad has 2c / 3a
rn my hair is like 2b 2c but it has been getting more and more curly and it still isint slowing down
Yes it can change because you probably inherited both types of hair types from your parents.
Mine was 2A…. Then 2B and now it’s like a mix of 2B and 2C. A lot of random curls in my waves. Soooo confusing
I have type 2b but only when i use a shampoo without products afterwards. The only Part of my hair that is always wavy is the underneath Part
Would it bring my waves back when i buy curl products for example the curl conditioner from kerastase?
I get really curl y baby hairs and my hair was curly as a baby but after year's of damage heat and dye im not sure what i have anymore 😕😕 just looking to get my curls back as rarely use heat and dont dye anymore so its much healthier
I think I have type frizzy hair, maybe between 2a and 2b. Sometimes I just go with my frizzies. Hey what's wrong with going with a new frizzy look 🤔
Thank you for this video!
I have a mixture of type 2a, 2b and 2c, but also excessively oily roots. Is there a good normalizing shampoo that is sulfate free?
Only shampoo roots, only condition ends..
Your bangs are so super-cute.
Do we need to see the hair damp or when dried out to decide the type? Because when damp the hair is a lot more curlier then when dried! Kindly reply.
Hi Mike, is it possible to have different hair types depending on what length the hair is? For example, if my hair is grown out to shoulder length with no layers or texturizing, I'm definitely type 2C. But if my hair is short bob, it's 3A because less weight means more curl definition. So what am I??
Yes, length weighs down the curls.
My hair is S shaped but it looks like none of the pics of wavy hair bc it’s more defined and big so idk wut my hair type is
I guess when I blowdry my hair it is 1C and if I do my hair the right way or let it air dry it is 2A.
I have more large waves and curls. Like it is curly but it isnt small and kinky waves..
I used to have 3b hair but age, bleach, and post natal hair thinning turned it to 2b 😭
My hair is triangle, but I also have short hair. My waves aren't as corkscrewy as the 2C picture, but they're still defined. I'm so confused.
I think I might be 2B but the triangle shape is confusing me. I have shoulder length hair. What am I?
My hair are straight at lower and Star to curl on upper side
Thank for your video💕 I think I have either type 1B/C or 2A🤔 it is very thick and when I have shirt Bob I mean ear lengths I can make it smooth style but then they grow longer they start bend up and have that hideous triangle, looks ridicules so I cut it but I dreaming of longer Bob but is very difficult to style 😓 Help pelase 🙏🤐
I'm confused. I have majorly like 1b hair but rarely frizz up like 1c.
But I do have obvious bends like you at the nape and my hairdresser even commented on she likes my right side of hair better than my left hair because the right side is 'obedient' and will do whatever she wants to do on my hair LMAO
Anyway I got tighter curls/waves on my natural white hair, which is so weird LMAO
I used to think my white/grey hair must be so damaged but all I did just air dry.
Most probably I'm a major 1b, with few 2a, and random 2b/2c LOL
Can hair type change with age? I think I used to be 2C but now more 2B.
Thank you!!! 😘 I'm type 2c!
I'm 2A ❤. Thank you. Now I know.
My hair has such nastu mixture 😭 it literally ranges from 1b to 2c
I’m 2B-2C!!!
Thanks!
Fantastic!
Tell me How to style my type 2A hair😢
When I was in elementary school I had 1b to 1c hair type, but now 1c to 2a maybe my hair need treatment 😅
Who else thought that the 2A curled ends means that your hair is just “untamed” and is actually straight? 🙋🏻♀️
My hair is a mix of 2b 2c and 3a and i dont know what to do
Use products that address the middle type. It will define the entire head.
@@glencora6340 thanks do you know any good products?
I think I’m 3A but I’m no sure
"wavy hair is the easiest to style because you can make it straight, have nice beach waves, or make it curly"
make it straight? definitely not unless you want frizz... unless you mean with a straightening tool but u can do that to any hair... and he said that type 2b hair has no straight bits. ummm...
and my hair wants to be curly but when it curls its not curly enough to be good
2B or not 2B? That is the question.
My hair is 2a/2b at the top and 2c/3a at the bottom 😭
Yep. Im all those numbers too. Leave in serums are essential. And keep it long.
Okay i am DEFINITELY 2A
Yayy im a 2C hair
My hair is 2c..im biracial
I'm 2c
Mine is 2B 😢
I have 2b
👍👏👏
