Well if someone has curlier hair, isn’t it normal that their standard is higher? It kind of surprises me that people can feel so offended by something that is kind of natural-can’t be helped.
I may get a lot of grief, but I think her hair is much more wavy than curly, I don’t think 1-2 curls forming at your ends makes you ‘curly.’ I define a curl as hair that spirals, and curly as someone who has a head of curls. I would consider her wavy or wavy curly.
But what’s wrong with being considered wavy? Wavy hair is beautiful. One type of hair is not better than the other.

@@Katrn30 Uh huh... I see. I was going in thinking someone with a spiral pattern would be considered curlier then someone with a more wavy pattern, like how someone with vibrant ginger hair would be considered more of a red head than someone with orange-tinted brown hair. Not really lol there is a clear difference between wavy and curly hair lol. Curly hair is more kinky, tighter, has locks that look more like springs and starts straight from the scalp. Wavy hair does not actually curl but has more of a zig-zag pattern which is why it is called “wavy” and starts lower in the hair. I have really small, tight curls. Also the hair follicles are actually different for wavy and curly hair. However, Taylor’s hair is a beautiful mix of the two especially towards the bottom! This not to be rude by any means, I am just stating the facts. You just have to do some research, that’s all!

I think that type 2B/2C curles are the ones who get most hate because some people see us as straight-haired girls who get their hair to be "kinda-curly" just by adding a ton of styling products. It doesn't work like this, I've spent all my life washing and styling my hair as straight and not understanding why it was so frizzy and messy. It's not just a 0-1 scale of curly -straight hair, there are lots of in-betweens and even us with wavy hair like to have some feedback from influencers with their same hair type.

@@MichelleVerduyn I've used many over the years. Aveda, bumble, ouidad, sheamoisture, not your mothers, Carol's daughter, oribe, Cantu, etc. My hairdresser has a similar texture of what I used to have and we both feel its hormones. My roots now grow in straight while my ends are more wavy. I used to have crazy ringlets in my teens and early 20s. Though when I was a child my hair was curly underneath and straight on top. It seems to be reverting to that texture. So I'm hoping in the next 5 to 7 years it will turn back to ringlets. I cant tell you how many videos, products, techniques I've tried ad nauseam for the past few years that just don't work for me. I devoted a year to the curly girl method, then catered more towards wavy techniques and unfortunately it never made a bit of difference. It does what it does and the texture is straighter now than it used to be.

People saying wavy hair is not curly hair because it is not in the “3s” is crazy. That would be like saying kinky coils in the “4s” are not curly because they aren’t labels as “3 curls” but they are all curl patterns. Especially when people use a CURLING iron to get wavy curls. They aren’t called waving irons.

when I'm lazy I refresh just with water and it looks okay, just bit frizzier. sometimes I also add styling products and it look better but takes more time to dry. I pretty much only use products that have water as the first ingredient and that's why I believe I can get away with just refreshing with water :) anyways, great video again! RED- You are amazing and are so helpful to me on my new journey. I am an adult, an older adult who had NO idea I even had wavy hair until it began becoming really difficult to blow dry, and certain sections always trying to separate from others (no matter how much I fought with it each day).... I happened to see an IG video of someone mentioning their curly girl journey and had no idea what they were talking about....and then, I wondered if some of the "wavy" I had seen in my life, in my own hair, was actually "curl type wavy". Because when I was little, curly was curly and wavy was not even a thing. You either had straight hair or you had curly hair (if that makes sense) so my hair was always blow dried straight and I have always brushed it straight and used heat on it...no big deal and it turns out I have really wavy hair....so I am trying to figure it out now. It is really hard to get a handle on it as an adult. But it is REALLY responding well. It is just so different. And I have to learn what products it likes or doesn't, and not wash it every day anymore (no problem), how to properly refresh, be okay with bad hair days, etc. lol It is a lot to learn and take in. So, thanks for what you are doing! Love your channel!

Thank you for your videos. I have wavy/thick hair and I’ve struggled with how to take care of it and embrace my waves. Your tips are so helpful and life changing. No exaggeration. Especially the detangling after applying conditioner. No more pain whilst combing my hair anymore! Also, the tips on where to apply conditioner and leave-in conditioner really helps my scalp which gets oily while my ends tend to be dry.

You have gorgeous hair no matter which day and no matter how much or how less curly it looks! And yes you definitely do have curly hair, curls come in many shapes and sizes and people who say otherwise are just being narrow minded. Your hair seems very similar to mine and I find that if my hair is super tangled or knotty and I want to brush it, I use my fingers to sort of comb through and it doesn’t get all poofy like with a brush. In fact if my hands are warmish it actually helps to bring down the natural oils from the roots! Thanks for sharing all your awesome curly hair tips, I’m 23 and still learning how to best look after my frizzy, curly, crazy hair 🤪 God bless xo

You're right about poofy hair if you brush it. I'm a 2C wavy hair girl and brushing it makes it so puffy/poofy. I hate it. I just rewet my hair apply a little more curl cream and scrunch and I'm good for days 4-6 when I rewash. I also use the bobby pins trick. Didn't know anyone else does that!

RED.... love your hair it's so pretty. I agree with the everything in your video but I especially agree with what u said about people shaming other people for there curl/ wave pattern. It's ridiculous and I think everyone curly and wavey struggle with accepting there natural hair and deal with the same issues so why shame anyone. People that do that are childish and are insecure and that's why they try to make others feel bad with rude comments so keep that in mind when u see comments like that. They're obviously unhappy so don't let them bother you. Love your content girl keep making videos.

Now i have a curl pattern from my father (bc he,his mother, his sisters and even his brothers have curly hair) and a wavy pattern from my mother so my hair was kinda mix between them. When i was a child my hair looked just like your hair did when you were a child (soft &kinda wavy)but then it started getting SO frizzy and I started having a LOT of hair. I always was so jealous of my friends bc they all had bone straight hair which i thought was the perfect hair type🤦🏽‍♀️. 2 years ago i got my first flat iron and i used it EVERY DAY!I damaged my hair so much that i had to cut it. Then i finally thought about the fact that i needed at least 4 HOURS to straighten my hair and it would be wavy and frizzy again the next day no matter what. I realized i have a wavy/curly pattern (since literally everyone on my dad's side have curly hair🙄) and now I'm trying to embrace it, loving it and making it as healthy as possible and for that your videos are very helpful!❤

Honestly these videos have helped me so much because there’s not that many wavy girls who post about their natural hair and it’s really a whole different situation that needs a different type of care. It sucks that any women embracing their natural hair would tear down another for not fitting in when we are all ultimately on the same mission to embrace the health and texture of our hair. I work at a CURLY HAIR SALON and we get everything from the slightest 2A wave to the most coily 4C kinky curls. It’s sad people are so serious about terminology. I consider it all curly and anyone who doesn’t is completely taking away from the point of all of this.

Your hair is amazing! Ignore the negative comments. You might not have a tight curl. but you definitely have a curl pattern. I was watching a hair dressers video, and he said MOST people have some kind of a curl pattern. 💁🏼‍♀️ thank you for your videos. Growing up I had cute little ringlets and then my hair turned into fluff. I wondered this entire time, what happened. Of course I have bleached it so I thought that's it. Your videos helped me realize my curl pattern is still there, I just have to enhance and define it ( and nourish it). Thank you 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Hello from a kinky/coily hair girl. And you're right our hair is textured, but I get what people are saying. I think it's because the curl patterns are distinctively different. Like someone like me can't save I have curly to someone that is 3b because my "curls" are different from there's. My hair type is complicated so I couldn't really tell you what it is. It's mostly type 4 with type 3 tendencies.🔴

I appreciated your video and your methods. You’re right that we are born with this. However….I had curls as a toddler, by the time I was six I had stick straight hair and did until my early 40’s where I saw some wave. Up until last December I had a pixie for 5 years. I decided to grow it out and saw little “flips” when it got to my ears. So One day I decided to not blow dry it and see what I got. I had waves! Even with some ringlets! I am 61 years old! This is all new!Fortunately, I have really healthy hair from keeping it short for so long so my hair is not having to adjust from any damage other than products . But boy this has been a journey! And it has been fun! At the same time, now that my hair is actually getting more gray I’ve decided to let my hair go gray too! Wow! Huge learning curve but I have lots of resources to learn from!

This was very helpful. I’m new to my curly journey. I’ve been working with my waves since June 1st. I lost a lot of hair due to surgeries, because of the anesthesia. So it’s growing back in wavy. I have been rewetting and reapplying all of my products everyday. Genius when you said water will reactivate products that have water as the first ingredient. I’ll watch more of your videos. I’m sure I’ll learn a lot more. Thank you. And your hair is beautiful 💗
