Great idea for the door! Maybe think about configuring that bottom piece with fasteners that will enable you to remove it easily for those days when you need to clean out the coop💕
I like that idea! Good thinking! Have a great weekend!
practical plus option.
Oh my gosh Brutus is so adorable. I love how he sits and watch you guys and today he’s actually helping lol he’s just standing or holding what looks like Al’s next piece LMAO.
Good Saturday mornin New Yolk🥚City .... 13:26 Brutus has to check the sound of that board against the shop floor, like a tuning fork. It has to be just right before he adds it to his stash! Have a nice weekend AL, Gina & Olivia .... take care🚜🐻🐮🐄🐂✏📐🔨🪚🚪🪟❄☃✌🏻
That was a great comment David. The tuning fork was right on. I like Brutus' playing with the wood pieces. Have a great weekend!
I really enjoy my time with you and Gina….despite spending 30 years helping my dad build a vacation home. We carried each cinder block, carrying each 2x 12 or 2x 4 , pulling nails out of a wooden barrel to hand to Dad as he whacked them into the wood… you bring all of those memories to mind! We mixed each concrete batch up in a big pan with a hoe!
There are so many times I want to confer with you as are building something!!!
When you get to it… I would consider putting a moveable table in… so the table top planer and table saw can be moved around when you have large/over size planning or cutting to do. But I’m sure you have your own plans! Happy New Year!
My favorite cashier at Home Depot, when I ask how he's doing, says "Best day of my life!" Because you can't change yesterday.
Gina wont lock you up Al..
She dont wanna do all your chores 😂😂😂 love it!!
Hey Al...Did you ever think about making DIY kits ?
Im realling liking the chicken door.. Fabulous work as usual...🥳
👩🏼🦳🐈🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛🦮
great idea Gina to stay close to the heater! That way you can make sure it keeps working!!
Happy dogs always make me smile. Watching, Brutus being his happy goofy self is great. Him and the cows are always fun to watch. You guys are giving him the best life he could have and you are awesome for that. Also that door for the chickens is nicer than the doors in my house. Wanna' build me some doors? Wish you and whom ever reads this all the best!
Great looking door Al and good for thought to make a raised bottom to it. Those Highland cows look so contented out there in the trees. God Bless from your Canadian Friend.
So nice of Brutus to help you clean up the workshop 😉🐶
Good morning Al Gina and Olivia hope y'all have a blessed day together. It's 29 here in south Alabama this morning but they say your weather is going to be here all week with high temperatures in the 40's all week. Y'all are such a blessing to so many. I also love the podcast you do with Jason and Ben.
Keep up the good work and may God bless y'all
Good morning. The door looks great and very functional. Have a great weekend. Thanks
Really like the idea of what you’re doing with the added room for runs. Glad to see Gina staying warm while you work. Have a blessed weekend
Goooooood mooooorning, AL, Gina and Olivia, fellow viewers and all my friends Hoodie from Jamaica 🇯🇲. It's a cool and overcast mooooorning here.
Good morning Lloyd! Have a wonderful weekend!
Al you should hire yourself out at making specialty doors and gates from home ,you do such a great job. You two work so well together, love the gentle playfulness and positive attitude.
Great looking door, Al. Thanks for sharing the building of it. I hope y'all have a Blessed weekend.
I really like watching Al do woodworking. It amazes me how his mind works. He can see what he is doing before he does it. Wow. Happy New year everyone.
Lots of free dog toys in the workshop. You didn't need to tear it ALL apart but that sure was a bummer, those staples don't come out easily. Nice door build. I would have been tempted to make it full height and have a removable panel you could put in the doorway when you have chicks. It would be easier most of the time and easier to clean out the area.
Good day Bruce, a full length door wouldn't work, the door swings into the chicken-run so wood chips& poo would be in the way ! It will be best to have a board across the bottom that can be removed for clean-out time.
@@davidgetchell3633 That is what I have on my coop though the door swings out, not in. The board keeps the shavings inside the coop. Not sure why they made the door swing into the space rather than out into the open area. They have a pretty high stepover.
@@brucealvarez9263 Not sure what the reason is.
A Dutch door on the bottom 😂
@@aquariuslady777 That could work, especially if it is hinged to swing toward the open area. Not sure how you fill the wall depth gap though.
It is always so encouraging that you share the goof ups. Thank you!
And there's plenty of them
Al, by the time you get your workshop organized, hope there’ll still be other building projects to complete. Have enjoyed them all.
Al & Gena, next big build should be an Air B&B so we can all come for a weekend Hobby Farm Vacation and Visit the Home-stead, and eat some fresh eggs for breakfast...
Hah, Al will never run out of things to build, he still must have 495 acre left to build on.
machinery shed and a pantry for long term storing of canned and preserved, fresh veggies.
Good (COLD) morning Brutus, Gina, Olivia, Al and all the Lumnah family and friends.
Nice door Al and Gina. The chicken hotel is coming together. Have a nice day, stay warm.
I love watching you guys building ,animals etc.Brutus just makes my day ,he just loves you guys .
Good day, Al and Gina! I watch your streams when im done with my shores. Coffee and watching you makes my day Have great weekend ❤.
Looking good
Happy New Year
Hi Al, chilly weather for sure! Given how weak and low the sun is at this time of the year, plus how cold you are experiencing right now, could you please do a small segment on the sort of performance you are seeing with both your sets of solar panels and the average daily charge you are getting. Appreciate if you could cover this subject if you can spare the time. All the best to you all in 2025. Thanks.
I really wish you had a video every morning while I enjoy my coffee😊❤😊😊
Love watching you build Al. I feel like you are teaching the steps.
Brilliant video as always!; oh no, mistakes happen, at least you could rectify it. The motto of Murphy's law comes to mind. Also, with myself doing DIY and constructing stuff, it always plans to prepare for any job to take double the time. Best to plan for that rather than thinking oh it will only take x time but then takes double of triple that time to complete it.
Hope all is well, take care
Good job Al from minor mishaps to perfection still never miss a video Love the videos🇦🇺👏👏👏👋👋
Watching for years. Amazed at the abilities of the entire family. Keep the videos coming.
Al and Gina, another excellent job done ☑️ and Brutus’s performance also 👍😮😊❤
Awesome job on the new door 🚪. Have a good weekend too. Keep safe and stay warm too.

Good morning Lumnah family. Chicken run is looking good. Nice you can be in out of the cold somewhat to work. Enjoying the video, thank you for sharing.
Goooooooooood Morning Gene. Can’t wait to move the chickens in
Good morning, Gene!
@@samvalentine3206 Good morning Sam.

Good morning Al, Gina, Olivia and all the Lumnah friends and extended family. hope everyone has a good day
Goooooooooood Morning Robert
Good morning, Robert - Thanks and hope you have a good one as well!
@@samvalentine3206 Good morning Sam.
that door is gorgeous!!
Gooooooooooood freezing morning, Lumnahs!
Looks great and I love the teamwork! Have you considered a full door with a slip-in / removable lower 12” panel towards the inside of the chicken room? I’ve found that build makes clean-outs easier a can be removed when not needed eliminating the trip hazard.
morning Robert, that door swings into the room, it would be hard to open.
You obviously put the temporary chick-wall on the side that doesn’t block the door swing. It works great for me, but others may not like it.
Good morning. 🌞 a great day to collect some solar ☀️maybe not so much in central US 🌨️❄️ today. Stay warm everyone 🔥
Gina I am with you I would not do a polar plunge. Love watching you guys. God bless and keep you.
Morning guys! Ive been up all night with a really bad cold. Good old honey and lemon and Vicks vapour rub. Hope everyone stays healthy and happy!
Goooooooooood Morning Ted. That’s no fun. Get well soon
Feel better, Ted!
It's amazing how you diy things so precisely!! I was wondering about sandwiching in the hardware cloth somehow between two pieces of wood instead wouldn't have been the way to go? Gosh, I'm sorry you had to re-staple. That's the thing with unique one-of-a-kind items, we have to learn as we go! Love love love love love how it turned out❤
My friends that is cool
on your project.
🎉🎉
I love your ingenuity. I am surprised you didn’t make a full size door and add a removable board to keep in the chicks
AWESOME VIDEO guys LOVED it...👍❤🇨🇦🇺🇸😇👼🙏
I think the door is awsome too great job on the build!!!
Nice job on the door it looks great.
Looks great!!! As Gina says, it’s always something!!!
Good afternoon, Al and Gina.
As Al always says: 'that's not going anywhere'. And this time he was right.
By the way, I am a long time watcher and listener from Plainview, MN. Enjoy all your videos.
Hi there fellow Minnesotan! You're in good company from myself, Forrest Gump, Damogran Heart, Bob in Minnesota and others. Nice to see you comment! Have a great weekend!

That's a mighty fine looking door. Thanks for sharing!! ❤❤❤❤👳♀️❤❤❤❤
Good evening Lumnah family and friends! Horrible weather to have to deal with in your build but that’s winter life in New England. You are strong folks for sure. 👍 I admire your tenacity and dedication to your homestead. Excellent! ❤
Good morning, Bill!
@ Hey Sam! Hope your day is awesome!😎
AL IS ONE SMART COOKIE, HE CAN ALWAYS REDO ANYTHING COME OUT ON TOP IF HE HAS TOO.
I got to say I've never used a spade bit that way, but thank you for being willing to show your "rework."
It's not about whether or not you'll make mistakes, it's how you recover that's really important. Door came out great.
Good morning from New Brunswick, Canada. I have used my compressor outside many times in the past and have had problems with the tool I was using. It dawned on me that all compressors develop moisture in the tank when being used. This can come through the hose to the airgun, and if cold enough that moisture will freeze, giving the tool issues. A couple of solutions: Leave the compressor in a heated space and use longer air hose, add some gas line antifreeze in the airline or into tank if it can. Always drain all air from tank and hoses every day, leaving the drain valve open til next use. Hope these ideas may help.
I worked with air tools for 30 years and I found a little air tool oil in each the first thing at the start of the day did wonders for them. They are still in use today.
Good video as usual
Good morning AL AND GINA AND LADY O
2° here too.
The door came out fantastic.
Love and praying 🙏.

Gooooood morning Lumnahs!!!!!!!!
Good Morning.. I'll take snowman snow over squeaking snow every time 🥶 be safe!
Another great building video. You give me so many ideas and building technics.
Looks good! Thanks for sharing
OMG, I have to save this one, I didn't think I'd ever see Al make "a mistake" so every time I screw up, I can go back and know that my expert isn't perfect either, thanks for letting me know you are in fact human! Love the door
He makes no end of them. But you can't be a plumber, a wood worker, a welder ,a car mechanic, an electrician, a painter, and all the other trades that he has a go at without making a few whoopsies. Like the other day when making that door and he put glue into the groove when the tongue isnt long enough to reach it. He's a jack of all trades and a master of none. But does it matter? I still enjoy watching him.
Chickens are going to love their coup, no need to fly the coup, they'll show their reward with lots of eggs... Cheers from Canada...
I got cold just hearing you walk on that ice/snow. ❤❤❤
Good Morning! When I needed a solid door with an extra large dog door, I just started by gluing and screwing two sheets of 3/4 inch exterior plywood together. Cut it to size and cut my dog door out. That was about 20 years ago, and it's still in great shape today.
Goooooooooood Morning
Chicken run and chicken coop looking great.❤😊
Happy New Year to you all. Al that's a good looking door, although I would expect nothing less from you folks.
Tolle Arbeit von euch einfach super 😊👍😉
Good morning Lumnah Family and friends! Here's to a great weekend!
Morning Sam
The best to you has well 😊
Good morning Sam! I have to do my front brake pads today. Wish me luck in the high temperature today of 10F above zero! It'll be nice to have the stopping power again. I'm trying ceramic for the first time. It sounds like they are good for my style of driving. Less wear on the rotors too and less noise and they last longer. The only set they had for my car at the auto parts store. Have a wonderful weekend!
Good morning, everyone!!
Goooooooooood Morning Chris
Good morning, Chris!
I've never seen that type of bib that Gina is wearing.
it is more stylish than the old style. I guess style is the operative word.
Brutus is definitely a thinker. The new door looks great! I,m wondering if you’re going to like the 12” step. 🤔👍😉🐓
Nice job looks great it didn't take long to refix the window looks great 😊
God bless
2:12 that was funny Giner!
Nice, niffty door!
On another channel I watch (@Do&BeDifferentFarmily) they often use recycled goods. They have videos about how they recycle double-pane windows for only a few dollars. That would have been an excellent technique for this door that would have helped keep it a bit warmer in the coop and possibly cheaper than the plexiglas.
Brutus is shop boss, no doubt..😂 The door turned out great, with one exception..😅😊 Love ya'll ❤️
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing
when you said, "I'll be right over here if you need me!" I grinned and winked. I realized you couldn't see my wink so letting you know!😉
Good evening. Never fun to have to pull out all the work to fix something.
Nice, Good job
