It is so nice to know Brady that you have included the previous owner in the build of your barn and the memories she held of living there. What a lovely lady thank you so much for sharing.
Hey, I'll bet she still cooks the best Italian food they've ever eaten! Id def build an addition for Nona! I'll bet a cot in the bathroom corner would be fine by her! 😊
I'd love to read what she is saying - when you have time, you could add the translation to the subtitles. It was awesome to see her & her reactions - just lovely!
Small tip, put some electrical wires into the retaining wall so you can mount some mood lights into the wall high up. Will give a nice effect when using it later on in dark evenings.
Hi Brady and hi Heather Here’s a fun idea. 💡 have a contest where people guess how many gloves you’ve gone through Brady, since you began work at the Stonehouse! Every time I see you working with grout I think about how abrasive it is to any material and then I ask myself how long those gloves will last! From a great and longtime admirer in AZ Elizabeth
A possible addition should also be to run Cat6 cables into the rooms for internet and TV. Stone walls like that are going to hamper/limit WiFi, so hard wired access points or routers should aid connectivity….
The stone wall looks stupendous! What a sin it would have been to build it out of man made brick! Your new home goes from barn to no donkeys, no cows and with luck...NO GOATS!!!! Lol! Climate change is so obvious over a longer period of time. From year to year, we don't notice it. Over 25 years it's startling. As a kid, I remember heavy snowfall which we don't see anymore. Summer rain is almost a dim memory. We are in our 11th year of a drought. Please make sure Nonna gets to come back when the outside kitchen is finished and she can have a couple of glasses of Prosecco in front of the fire and watch the stars come out.
My daughter suggested that woman should take part in something to leave her mark on the finished structure. I think that’s a great idea! Will you have copper accents? How perfect that would be!
My dad was born in Italy in a small village in central Italy near Spoleto in Umbria. His stone home still stands along with those of his aunts and cousins who still live in them. The entire village is considered historic so it’s protected (can’t be altered) but everything is modern inside. It’s called Castel San Felice. It’s up in the mountains and everyone walks and lives into their 90s. Years ago they kept their animals in barns beneath them. Now they all grow olives and sunflowers to sell. Global warming,
You might want to know that even though you are working sooo hard, I find your videos very relaxing. My husband doesn’t understand why I watch since I wouldn’t actually do the work myself but I LOVE WATCHING!
Seria algo maravilloso tener una foto de la abuelita como antigua propietaria y una de uds como familia como propietarios actuales, y que de esa manera se honre las memorias de la bella abuelita italiana. 🎉❤ gracias por compartirlo con nosotros
How amazing getting her perspective on your work, her past memories and history of your property. I’m sure you are proud of your endeavours but her approval and excitement about the property must make your heart very happy.
You’re building that huge fireplace & love to cook! I’d definitely add a swinging pot hook & a beehive oven. It’ll be so worth it to bake fresh bread or pizzas in the warm months. This is your opportunity to add this to your outdoor kitchen. You’re in Italy, isn’t a pizza oven mandatory?😂
Loved the reaction of that sweet woman who once lived/worked in the barn… you must be so proud of this epic renovation… love watching the stones come together like a quilt… amazing❤❤❤❤
The landscape seems familiar. Many years ago in my 20's I visited my cousins in Bergamo. They grew grapes and made white wine using old methods in an old stonehouse up in the mountains. We had a picnic-like stay ther which was lovely and I still remember with much love. Your guests reminded me of them, with red curly hair and blue eyes and very kind. Now, as an older ex-pat living in North Am., I am in awe with your achievements and in a good way a little envious. I now wish I had been able to live at least part-time in Italy and enjoying all that it has to offer. Best wishes.
This project has become a wonderful example of the bonding and fruitfulness you have created by your warm, optimistic, and generous nature. A blessing to the current times of the world where we live.❤
Thank you for including this special visit in the video. It must be so joyful for you and your family to see the joy this epic restoration brings to the former family who lived there.
I love your shows and the amazing work you are doing. My husband and I had restored a large home. It had no doors, windows etc. Even the stone basement was a disaster. The lady who's husband had built it came and she and her elderly children came and stayed. Rooms had plaques with their names. It was so fun. We made it into a B&B, and it was designated historical. Not old like yours but it had housed Bible college students. It had no plumbing then 1934. We hosted all, for a day. My husband and I did a total rebuild. Both of us were old. He has passed. So I am reliving as I watch you. ❤
The colorful stone thin chips would make a beautiful surface cover, e.g. table top, counter top, planters… The possibilities are endless. It is a good natural beautiful material and the girls would have a blast making them.
Love love love that bit of real life history, what a fit woman, with 94 years of age, impressive. She will probably be able to drink coffee with you in your new kitchen or on the terrace.
some morning glory would bloom all spring, summer and fall. and would climb up about the side of the wall in blues and purple flowers. plant once and forget it. i plant mint and prune the leaves dry them in my microwave 30 sec and store in a used spice jar, seep in a cup of hot water in a loose leaf tea ball and sweeten with a drizzel of honey. mint grows back but spreds a bit.
How great that your hard work can be shared with someone who has history on the property. This property is going to be just awe striking. You should be very proud 👍❤️
Brady, you have become a stone mason. Don't sell yourself short as you work so very hard. Loved Grandma! Hope your family had a wonderful Holiday in the Lord.
Lovely lady. Seems you have adopted an Italian Nonna? 🤗You may want to ask her if she has old black&white photography of the barn/property? 🖼You could scan them & make larger pictures for a gallery, showing the progression, the change from the ugly old barn to the fab mansion you are creating. 🏡You have all these long hallways. Would be a great conversation piece for your guests. Can't wait for completion of the outdoor fireplace.💓
I’m glad you came in contact with her. So nice for you to meet and talk with someone who has a history with the property -- super cool and what a nice lady.
Molto simpatica la signora. Mi ricorda i miei nonni : anche loro venivano dalle montagne della val Brembana e facevano i contadini. Continua così, stai facendo un lavoro stupendo
I'm sure she was so pleased of how you are saving her childhood home . Need to let her spend a night bye the fireplace drinking coffee with you and your family. I love watching your videos. Can't wait to see the finished home and your next project.
lol i can see you putting in a handmade pizza oven and out door grill beside the fireplace built in the wall , with a hand hewn table and benches in front of it and run a water line over and have your sink and coffee spot there
I love the claw marks on the wall, it looks like BIG BEAR claw marks. In the future you can tell the kids that a bear clawed out the fireplace to sharpen his claws and you have the claw marks to prove it.🤣
So nice to learn that this lady’s Italian grandmother actually lived here! How exciting for her to view how the property looks today. As for all the snow they had in the area years ago, everywhere in the world we are experiencing these weather changes. Absolutely wonderful video. I loved hearing the Church bells, seeing the views from inside the windows and especially your special guest. She was a true treasure. She needs to come back for sure. As always, the work look fantastic. Great job guys!

What a blessing to see this precious grandmother come to see your beautiful renovation. I know it must of made you so happy. I had happy tears for you and your family, because I have been watching your videos from the beginning. You all have worked so very hard, and to see this particular lady applaud your work .... The lovely "nonna" is looking great at 94y. my big respect she came for a visit, she was truly overwhelmed how nice the old building turned in a beautiful home - and she said she want to move in when it is finished Lol ! What a compliment for all your work ❤👍
Loved the visit, you need to do a video once done, where she and her family come and enjoy the outside area and tell stories. She reminds me of my mom when she was alive, always making jokes. God bless😊😊😊
This visit was epic, Brady! She reminded me of my sharp Sicilian aunt that lived to 95 (Life in Italy is good). My aunt would have surely entertained you for a visit with her. Also, my mom's cousin lived with her old husband in a country farm place that brimmed with 'abundance from Providence' as she said & then showed us a calendar with Psalms she kept in her kitchen drawer. Faith has a lot to do with longevity. You may want to ask her what's maintained her all this time. Meanwhile I pray you all grow in faith & come to experience The knowledge & Presence of Lord God that is all around you, guiding & keeping you! Yes, you are closer to heaven way up where you are, hah. Btw, I was born in Porto Empedocle Sicily & we left for America at age 7. Thanks for bringing me back home with all its beauty & grace.
WOW!! It's looking beautiful.....such fabulous work!! Great seeing Silvio's mother looking around and you appreciating the history she could share with you❤❤
We are going to have to change your name to Leonardo with your mad mason skills!!! I LOVE 💕 how “cooperative” those beautiful rocks are in building an ABSOLUTE masterpiece!! Happy New Year!!!
a happy new year to the whole family. thank you for allowing us to share in your journey in 2024. i look forward to continuing your adventure in 2025. xxx
Love what you are creating on your property, and seeing it progress. How wonderful to have grandma as part of the property's history to come visit. That is a special occasion indeed.♥🌹🌹🌹
My grandmother is 100 years old. It's amazing how they think and the story's that they can tell us all. Good one this week. I wish you all the best for 2025.
What a nice gesture on both sides; the old lady to have come by to see the place, and you Brady to have them over to visit. I can see why you build the pizza 🍕 oven outside 😉 ... you smart cookie 🍪 Hehe 😅
Wow. That is really something. A very emotional encounter. What an opportunity for you both, Silvio's Mum and you and the desire to know more history. I would love to know that as well. It's fascinating to compare timelines. In the 1200's the major cathedrals still present, were under construction in Italy.
Quick thought: It might be very nice to have a Guest Book for visitors to sign & comment on Stone House & their visit. Additionally, it would be interesting to record all the historical details you are learning about your property. For instance ~ Time lines, past owners, how you came to discover this stunning property & perhaps historical events which took place on the property & in the village over time. You might even put out a request to your community/village asking for information anyone may have about Stone House's history. Sure...just add this to your To Do List!😉❤
200 years from now, people will admire YOUR work as a stone mason🥰🥰
Exactly 💯 correct. In the trades, USA, 10,000 hours of experience is regarded as Master
@@davidskaggs9914exactly what an incredible gifted self taught Young Man. Creating a beautiful home for his Family. Best of EVERYTHING! For 2025
Don’t forget the master mentors he had!😂
That's for sure!!!❤
Don't forget the crew the two men (father and son I believe) contribute to the efforts!
There is nothing better than having an Italian grandma blessed all the work you have put into this property. I loved the video and grandma's reaction.
You’ve got an Italian Grandma now! Y’all are lucky!
😂
@@teridelnero9606 They are lucky indeed.
It is so nice to know Brady that you have included the previous owner in the build of your barn and the memories she held of living there. What a lovely lady thank you so much for sharing.
If Nona is as stubborn as that goat, expect her to keep her promise to move in with you! 😃
And the goats as stubborn as they are they might have to think about who is going to be cutting grass and learn how to make hay! 😂😂
@@banlammarpnas9555 So true 😄
Hey, I'll bet she still cooks the best Italian food they've ever eaten! Id def build an addition for Nona! I'll bet a cot in the bathroom corner would be fine by her! 😊

I hope that your new acquaintance with Silvio's mom grows into a continuing friendship... what a treasure she is! ❤

Agree .. please do
Yes, please?
Small tip, put some electrical wires into the retaining wall so you can mount some mood lights into the wall high up. Will give a nice effect when using it later on in dark evenings.
such a great idea!
That sounds cool.
It would probably be easier and better looking to put the lights in the floor and illuminate the whole wall from the ground

What an honor to have her there sharing her history. You continue that legacy. Your daughters will tell the story to their children. Bravo.
Your skill as a stone worker is really become something you can be proud of.

I would think it would give grandma’s heart so much comfort to see the love and respect you have shown her ancestor’s home.
That is how you get an italian Grandma- welcome to your new family member.
Very emotional watching the lovely woman (Silvio's mom) who lived there as a child. Bravo.
It was emotional, but would have appreciated word for word translations

She’s amazing for 94. The Italians eat healthy and work hard. My ex Italian grandmother-in-law who was born in Turin Piedmont lived to be 101.

OMG! The amount of labor and planning that goes into that stone wall I’d absolutely mind boggling!!😮😮

Wow she still looks great for her age, did she say who built the house originally, the original stone work is still amazing
