What separates you and Katie from other bloggers is the genuineness and authentic way you two interact and how you approach your projects. You too are awesome 😊
I don't care what anybody says, Greg your "box" build looks more than functional. Good Canadian resourcefulness. From one Canadian to another. You always seem to come through.
Based on 52 years of marriage, I have learned that if I take the time to clean up the area I have been working in, I am more likely to get the “oh, that really looks good”. If you pick up all the pieces and get rid of everything except what you are trying to showcase,it really moves the reply to the positive!
You have done a great job on the 'box'. It fits right into the rustic feel of the hot tub. Also means you have a ready made food and drinks 'table' too... BRILLIANT!!!!
You guys are awesome, i have tried to watch other off grid guys but you a`re definitely the most genuine people I have seen, that’s why i patronise with you guys, alwayas looking forward to the next chapter, love you guys from the uk
I’ve been watching your you tube channel for several months. I’ve gone back. And watched earlier videos and I’m amazed at how far your journey has brought you. Little by little you have created a beautiful off-grid life. I really enjoy your content. Keep rocking on into 2025 🎉
There is no greater feeling of accomplishment than when your ideas are translated into a working structure that you build on the fly. Great job! When my electric hot tub gets older I will probably convert it to wood after seeing this. Here in Vermont I'll probably have to shut it down mid-November through mid-March, but there is nothing like the hot water therapy of a hot tub out in the country. This is a really good channel.
Love this young couple. Hard working as you can get. They are living. Some of these questions you two get are the very reason I do not start a channel at my cabin.
Don't forget to put some type of top or cover on the hot tub stove pipe so rain don't sit in the bottom of the stove especially in the off season, so it don't rust the bottom of the stove.
So it is a great idea using the fiberglass for the pipes but also I would get so heat tape to wrap the pipes to help keep them warm we use it on all are pipes here in Montana if they above ground and I am so you got hot fixed nice job so stay warm and safe and later
Greg, rocks are great thermal mass (heat sink) so should help with the efficiency of heating your hot tub water. I think it is refreshing when you and Katie can laugh at the projects you construct. You are a great DIY engineer. Blessings to you both.
Who cares what others think. This is how you live off the grid. You have never said this is the way it has to be done. It's the way you get it done. You 2 have done an awesome job and should be very proud of all what you 2 have done. Keep up the good work. I live in the red deer area and would live to come visit some time. But until them stay safe and stay free
You two I feel have accomplished the main focus of the property and done it well being your home. I think you guys should take a step back and come up with a solid well thought out plan for the property after this repair job and winging it on the enclosure to get the hot tub working again. From here on out I feel you will be much happier if all the building projects done the property are done with a sense of permanency, very good quality, not scraps like on the goat barn or winging it. There doesn't seem to be a sense of urgency to get something done anymore so you can take your time, and invest the money on all further projects. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures
Iam 70 years old and started living off grid 2 years ago on 10 acres. You guys are inspiration to me. Wish we had done it sooner. Alot of work, but love it. Thanks for sharing!
Great job with the tub. Katie is right about how she got sick and I hope she feels better soon. I'm not feeling well and I'm sure it's from being around people I haven't seen in a while.
I know when i lived in a mobile home I wrapped heat tape around a pipe first and than put insulation over the top of that and than wrapped with water proof tape to prevent the insulation from becoming wet. i never had an issue and the heat tape required very little electric cost while at the same time never having issues with frozen pipes. Try to do things right the first time usually works out the best for all.
I found that with the backhoe on, my plow would push the front end around on me. Without the backhoe, it allows the front wheels to grab more, and the snow plow would go much straighter. I'm in the process of welding a 2 inch pipe on my plow.
Well I’m glad you had a wonderful holiday season. Getting away just rejuvenates the body and soul so that you don’t get burned out. I love the way you present yourselves on the videos. Keep up the great job you’re doing
Greg in all seriousness, we may joke about you doing sketchy things, but I am truly impressed with most of your off grid creativity, and we only truly care about your safety. Love you both and Happy New Year! 😊❤🎉
Greg! You did a good job, at least I think so. Katie, at the first sign of feeling a cold like symptom, my husband & I have started doing saltwater nasal flushes and so far it's prevented at least 3 colds this past year. My husband was skeptical, but he's doing it now too and it works! About 6oz warm water and 1 tsp of salt mixed in a small glass. Hold one nostril & snort in the water with the other nostril and spit out. Ditto on the other side. Then gargle. Do it a couple times a day. It should prevent the cold in it's tracks. It does ours. Hope you try it and it helps. We also load up on the VitC before, during & after gatherings. 🤞 Ps; yes, you have to stick your nose in the water far enough to be able to suck it into the nostril. Or you could buy one of those Vanage things
Happy New Year. It was good that you took a time off from everything. In the Netherlands we have a saying and I live by it for many years now: If the balance between life and work is correct, you are in balance. It worked for me for over 40 years already. Keep it up I really like this!
The last part of the old bus/camper is gone, it seems like such a long time since you guys were living in that! That thing should just be a temporary fix, build a shed with clear or translucent plastic roofing around the entire hot tub area so you can use it even in the rain and snow falls.
That looks much better Greg. But while you're at it, why don't you design some steps too? That would look better and it would certainly be more comfortable to climb into the pot.Greetings Karin
Hey Greg, don't worry about winging it. You are doing the best you can with materials you have on hand, your budget and the skill you have at the moment you are building it. I am proud of you for the work you do, and your courage to show your vulnerability. These all the things that will help you grow as a craftsman. Happy New Year!
Now that was a cool to watch Greg ripping down the old shed then the burn while sitting having a drink while it burned . Lovely work Greg around the hot tub rocks when using the proper ones hold heat nice ! Rustic vibe is perfect and goes with the house . aww really love the gift you gave the goats that's sweet Katie.🥰. You two have come along way with your home and property awesome work folks ..
Greg, you have easily earned the feeling of confidence by now with all your craftsmanship. Please claim it, cause it's way past due 😉 Again I loved you little project that turned out just perfect. Happy new year to all you all, and best of wishes for Katie on a speedy recovery!
Great job with the hot tub. We think it turned out great. The only other thing we would do is build a little shelter for the firewood to keep it somewhat dry. It would add to your setup. As we said it’s protecting your investments.
Would probably be a fairly good idea to install a weather hood over the top of the chimney stack. Would stop rainwater from going down inside. May also be advisable to put in slighttly tensioned wire stays on the chimney on three or four sides to help it from bending or blowing sideways in strong winds.
Yes your still the only people I know that have a 2 1/2 inch fire hose for a garden hose lol. Once those rocks get hot they should hold heat for a long time, good Idea. Happy New Year, Be Blessed and keep the great videos coming.
Greg don’t worry about the naysayers! I’m very entertained by your inventiveness and the humility is the best part. Look at what you’ve accomplished! This is always so entertaining Greg and you’re very sweet so again being you is why we watch!
Greg & Katie Are cleaning up ! They love their camp fires :) Great job guy's the yard looks better all the time 👍, Love the hot tub, You guy's work hard you need that hot tub running all the time to sooth those mussels :) great job ! Have a great weekend"
Happy new year guys. I am so glad you guys are back. I miss watching your videos. Well again I want to wish you guys belated merry Christmas and happy New Year’s 2025 awesome year for you guys cannot wait to see what you guys have planned let’s get back to the video😊😊
You could put in shut off valves at pipe exit /entrance to tub then a releae valve where hose goes into heater so you can shut water off from leaving tub and then drain standing water from pipe. The stove pipe you could just put a raincap ontop of stovepipe.
Wow Katy! you must have been bored stiff with nothing else to do. I can;t believe that you've posted a 44 minute video. I'm not complaining. I'm just surprised.
I have to say that of all your projects that I have followed over time, this one actually had me laughing out loud 😂 I love your humour. Job well done. 🇨🇦
I think that I'd build a lanto roof over it to keep limbs and needles off of the hot tub and fire box but tall enough ya have no problem getting in tub
Yall should have used that shed and put it over the wouldnt have to worry bout limbs and leaves getting in it!! Thanks for all the videos last year. Hope watch alot more this year! Stay safe!!!
Fully watched, you have been getting some great projects done, feels good to clean up the old building, that is the great thing about off grid life, your own boss and having fun along the way and its much funner not having to draft a big plan and engineering for small projects, all came out great and got yourself a working hot tub again. Good idea about the rocks, resourceful build👍😊 Take care
What separates you and Katie from other bloggers is the genuineness and authentic way you two interact and how you approach your projects. You too are awesome 😊
I agree 😀
I don't care what anybody says, Greg your "box" build looks more than functional. Good Canadian resourcefulness. From one Canadian to another. You always seem to come through.
Love it Greg, we work with what we have. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, but that shouldn't stop us. Thanks for sharing.

Ps, I think the box looks great and should give you what you are after! Nice job!!
You have done a great job on the 'box'. It fits right into the rustic feel of the hot tub. Also means you have a ready made food and drinks 'table' too... BRILLIANT!!!!

This is what happens when you leave him unsupervised 😂😂. He smiled a lot while building it so it was good for something
There's freedom in winging it, let the creativity flow, looks great Greg.
Feel better soon Katie.
Great seeing you both back 😀
Greg I think that isa great thing you built around that water heater, now is protected from weather and trees. I like the Idea.
There is no greater feeling of accomplishment than when your ideas are translated into a working structure that you build on the fly. Great job! Welcome back. Nice job of problem solving on the fly. Hoping you feel better soon Katie.
Love this young couple. Hard working as you can get. They are living. Some of these questions you two get are the very reason I do not start a channel at my cabin.
Greg, the box is great. This is called letting your creative juices flow.
Ahhh, you’re back! Happy days! xx
That was the last of your BUS life, you have come a long way ! Happy 2025 !
The boot room was the first thing we built on this property!
Love it when Greg does 'sketchy' 5hit, especially when he doesn't get injured 😂 Happy New Year to u both!! Thank u for all the awesome videos!!💜🕯
Don't forget to put some type of top or cover on the hot tub stove pipe so rain don't sit in the bottom of the stove especially in the off season, so it don't rust the bottom of the stove.
If they don't have a chimney top for the pipe they could use a coffee can when not in use
That's exactly what my wife would say, "I'm not going to the hospital today!". You guys are awesome, thnx for the entertainment. Happy New Year!
Greg, Good job! Maybe get a rain cap for the stove pipe?
So it is a great idea using the fiberglass for the pipes but also I would get so heat tape to wrap the pipes to help keep them warm we use it on all are pipes here in Montana if they above ground and I am so you got hot fixed nice job so stay warm and safe and later

I think what you did was great. I would add a chimney cap to keep rain/snow out of the pipe
Retired Florida roofing contractor here and I love your channel! Once a roofer, always a roofer. Special breed of people!!❤
Hope you feel better soon Kate 💕

Good job. You two deserve hot tub relaxation time

Great update to the hot tub. Now you need a cold plunge!
Well I’m glad you had a wonderful holiday season. Getting away just rejuvenates the body and soul so that you don’t get burned out.

DIY is always best. The rocks inside were a good idea. I like it. Alan

Lots of good info on Wood stove hot water heaters !! Good job Greg !!’ Also loved seeing you take down that old storage room -
Very funny !!!!

I would wrap the lower pipe in rubber as well. It is so close to the ground and then you don’t have to worry about water proofing the cover.
Good Job Greg❗👌You & Katie have a super nice way to warm up in the winter‼Hope you feel better Katie & Greg stays well~~💫💚
Hey Greg, don't worry about winging it. You are doing the best you can with materials you have on hand, your budget and the skill you have at the moment you are building it. Greg all I got to say about your carpentry skills is that you have fantastic vision and Katie makes you make it look nice
To get the fire going good you can use your leaf blower
Just love watching you guys! You really bring a smile to our faces!
Now that was a cool to watch Greg ripping down the old shed then the burn while sitting having a drink while it burned . Love the new heater box
It turned out nice. You used what you had and it will do exactly what you intended it to do.
Thats what its all about!
Gregg isn't afraid to try things. Katie likes handy men.😘
Greg, you may be ''winging it'', but your home-grown hot tub is a fine unit... especially with that fancy wood-fired water heater. Well done!
Wrap the stove with fiberglass or rock wool insulation. They are both fire resistant. Rocks are good idea. Looking good.
Would probably be a fairly good idea to install a weather hood over the top of the chimney stack. Would stop rainwater from going down inside. May also be advisable to put in slighttly tensioned wire stays on the chimney on three or four sides to help it from bending or blowing sideways in strong winds.
2024 was a great year of building your home - looking forward and wishing you the best for 2025!
Greg absolute thing of beauty.
A little TLC can go a long way when servicing your equipment.
Welcome home guys, glad you had a lovely break ❤xx
That hot tub looks so inviting
YOU GO DUDE!! You do you bcuz no one else can!!! 😊❤😊.... And we all love you both and the animals 💞😊
Yes your still the only people I know that have a 2 1/2 inch fire hose for a garden hose lol. Once those rocks get hot they should hold heat for a long time, good Idea. Happy New Year, Be Blessed and keep the great videos coming.

It would be a good idea to build something round it to keep it safe ❤❤
A fine job my man! Yes Sir!
My wife used to worry about me "not going to the ER today"...now she just keeps the car on FULL!
Greg & Katie Are cleaning up ! They love their camp fires :) Great job guy's the yard looks better all the time 👍, Love the hot tub, You guy's work hard you need that hot tub running all the time to sooth those mussels :) great job ! Have a great weekend"

Great job. Looks really good.
That looks so good, very
Pretty now. AWESOME
Great job Greg!
You guys are doing great. Don't let any couch potatoes tell you otherwise. Enjoy life and each other. Cheers.
Dollar store large pool noodle insulation for your pipes will work
Wow Katy! you must have been bored stiff with nothing else to do. I can;t believe that you've posted a 44 minute video. I'm not complaining. I'm just surprised.
Greg your work is awesome!! Enjoy your ideas and solutions. Everyone is a critic, let it roll. Happy New Year
Hey, Greg, you're doing a great job. What a good idea you came up with and for you Katie, you chasing them goats away with that Blower was too funny. 😊
Absolutely Greg nice job!
I call my torch Cheat Code Enabled when I use it to light our fires 😁
The last of your bus living. It had a good life. Having it gone made Katie happy. We always enjoy your videos. Wishing you a great 2025.
Make a door beside the own, so you can store the wood for the hot tub.
Great job on the insulated firebox Greg, you def made it look nice and pretty for Katie.😊
Hello Kathie and Greg
Best wishes for 2025.
Another beautiful and inspired achievement.
Henri(France)
Looks good greg ...and will definitely serve it's purpose. Happy new year. Hope Katie gets to feeling better soon ..

Now build a room around it!😊 Great job!
You two never stop being you ! Love the channel and what you do 👍
Hey Greg you might want to put rain cap on the hot tub pipe, just a idea
Fully watched, you have been getting some great projects done, feels good to clean up the old building, that is the great thing about off grid life, your own boss and having fun along the way and its much funner not having to draft a big plan and engineering for small projects, all came out great and got yourself a working hot tub again.
