props to you and the film crew for sticking with it and persevering. can't say I've ever had to deal with brake failure in any car I've driven for the first time
Peter Bragiel had a similar experience drivint my late fathers 1962 Studebaker Lark the break pads overheated, luckily I was able to slow the car down enough and pump the breaks to stop. After that I decided to convert to disk breaks.
Woah, I did not expect that, I'm glad you're alright. I'm learning Spanish too and have been for quite a while and have always backed away from opportunities to practice because I'm always so intimidated by native speakers and sometimes feel it might be rude if they're speaking English to me. Even then, people have offered to help me and I've mostly declined (¡qué tonta soy! 😂). I'm visiting Madrid in the summer and this has really inspired me to put myself out there and seek the opportunities to put all of this effort into good use, like going to a Spanish restaurant and communicating with them in their own language- I know I'm always really impressed when someone at least tries to speak more than one language (I kind of think it's a bit ignorant not to, and think that English speakers are gaining a reputation of being ignorant because everyone seems to be learning English and therefore don't bother, a prime example of this are my parents, as much as I push, they will not learn). tldr: I went off on a bit of a tangent (when I start talking about languages, I don't stop). This video really inspired me.
lo que no te mata te hace mas fuerte, I'm glad you guys are ok after all that's what traveling means good experiences bad experiences if you still alive keep traveling.
OMG Holy Crap. Was watching this series part 2 saw your arrival in Cuba and at the last moment saw what looked like you wrecking a car so went to part 3 and suddenly saw it. Reminded me of when I wrecked my dads old heirloomed Chevy PT Cruiser ( sorry in heaven DAD ) it looked just like this. Accidents like this are scary I’m glad your OK still a shame what happened to the old classic car but the important thing is no one else got hurt
Not to take focus on the accident here but the colors in Cuba are amazing. Visually it seems like one cool thing after another... Also your coffee inspired me to get a cup right now. Great stuff and the UA-cam community is happy you're okay.
I appreciate you changing the subject! Cuba is absolutely beautiful and a photographer's dream. Now that you've officially traveled with the family how about a Hallman's to Havana trip? I'd watch it.
Dude, that was terrifying, I'm glad you are okay. I have been wondering while watching the last 2 videos what was the last scene by the end of the video about. Nice trip, quite an adventure :-)
Holy shit, dude. I'm glad you're okay. Scariest thing I've ever seen in all your stories. Needless to say, watching these and living vicariously through you has been a pretty awesome adventure. Reminds me of the Central America series, just a little slicker. Haha.
+Matthew Palanca Thanks for sticking around, man! It's support like yours that keeps us going. I gotta say, that was one of the scariest experiences I've had while traveling.
Peter, I am just so impressed with how beautiful your content is. That looked like a gnarly crash and I'm super glad you're ok. Anyway, I look forward to your future projects!! Keep it going.
hi Peter, wow pretty scary, glad you guys are OK and that you all can contiuar con su viaje! What did the car owner do? Hopefully there is some kind of insurance to cover it. (?) I've been wanting to go to Cuba for years, I can't wait to go and if I'm there I will be hesitant to drive anything.
that sucks, I hope it wasn't that much. I hope the rest of the trip was much better. I would be interested to know what the experience was like going to the hospital in Cuba, I think that could be a video on its own.
OMG! What a scary experience!! Glad you are alright though! Oh wow...amazing art! And, it's also amazing that all of the cars look like they are cars from the 1950's!
You are very lucky Peter Bragiel, that you were not involved in a mayor accident in Cuba! There are many cases like this one! THE TORONTO STAR: Mississauga man trapped in Cuba after car accident - Damian Buksa, a 34-year-old Mississauga man, fell asleep in the back of his rental car. His guide drove the car and crashed into a tree. Now Buksa can’t leave the country - By Tim Alamenciak - Mon., Oct. 28, 2013 - A back-seat nap turned into a nightmare for Damian Buksa, who says an evening at a bar in Cuba ended with his guide dying in a car accident and the Mississauga man becoming stranded in the country for months. - He was billed $7,000 for the rental car and about $2,000 in medical costs for himself and another injured passenger. He said he has paid up but was still told not to leave the country. The Canadian government is working on the case, said Foreign Affairs spokesman Ian Trites. “Traffic accidents are a frequent cause of arrest and detention of Canadians in Cuba,” according to the Canadian government’s Cuba travel advice. All accidents are treated as crimes and those involved may be asked to stay in the country until the trial is done. The document says cases can take between five months and a year to go to trial. www.thestar.com/news/gta/2013/10/28/mississauga_man_trapped_in_cuba_after_car_accident.html
Wow, Peter that was something, holy smokes! (but also felt like something that Ernest Hemingway would find himself in, so badass!) Keep them awesome videos comin'!
Wow! Glad you guys are okay. So, how does the financial aspect of the wreck work there? Were you all responsible or did he have insurance that covered it?
+Chris Burke There was no insurance that covered the wreck, especially since a tourist was behind the wheel. We had to settle it the old fashion way, with a handshake and my word that I would send the money when I got back stateside.
Wtf that was scary asf 😮 weird how the owner of the car had his license taken I feel it was a set up so you could crash and get him a new car or get a problem fixed for his car that he probs couldnt afford 😑😡 I hope you are well, also wow you are mentally strong. I myself have been in an accident not by my hand though and I get major anxiety when others drive me 😂 #NewSubbie ❤
Glad you are okay... but that guy who lent that car to you might not be so much -- it was his livelihood... Can we contribute to help get that guy a new car? -- okay well, a replacement one or something... He lent you that car, after all.
+hmmmmmmmmm2 Appreciate your kindness and concern, but we wired them enough money to repair the car. I'll hopefully be receiving an update on it's progress soon :)
+Peter Bragiel -- I didn't mean to seem uncaring to you -- glad you were okay after the accident -- and I should have realized you'd take care of everything. Keep up the WAY cool videos. Been a fan for a long time! :-)
Ay dios mio😨, so glad you're OK Peter....that seriously scared the crap out of me. I absolutely LOVED this series. Keep up the amazing work hun 😆
you're making me want to take a trip to Cuba
+kelsisco do it!
props to you and the film crew for sticking with it and persevering. can't say I've ever had to deal with brake failure in any car I've driven for the first time
Ha! Cool car, until the crash. Glad you guys were okay. Great series Peter!
+Mike's Road Trip Thanks Mike. It WAS a beautiful car...but knowing Cuban resourcefulness, this green beaut will see another day on a Cuban Autopista.
Peter Bragiel had a similar experience drivint my late fathers 1962 Studebaker Lark the break pads overheated, luckily I was able to slow the car down enough and pump the breaks to stop. After that I decided to convert to disk breaks.
Anytime I watch this it is so heart-wrenching. I'm glad you were okay.
artyswiss thanks for the love, Arty!! We lived to see another, and for that I am forever grateful

+Peter Bragiel Hallman family trip to Cuba coming May 2021. Any chance we can get an in transit collab?
I've watched all your series, and this by far was the most scariest. Glad your all safe, what happened what that guys car?
The car got totaled but hopefully getting repaired. In Cuba nothing goes to waste so I'm sure they're bringing it back to its old self.
Dude, that was terrifying, I'm glad you are okay.

Wow great production on this video Pete. Glad to be a part of this journey.
Thanks for coming along.
Glad it was not worse in that wreck..did the guy get another car or any kind of reimbursement?
You've got me pumped on Cuba bro, very keen to make some missions out there soon.
DO IT!
-- Ohhh.. Gracias a Dios que estan todos bien..
+JOSE ANGEL Gracias por los deseos!
Holy Crap!?
That was worth the wait! Glad you're OK!
Glad you're ok! That was quite an accident! Amazing how quick you bounced back!
Peter, I am just so impressed with how beautiful your content is. That looked like a gnarly crash and I'm super glad you're ok. Anyway, I look forward to your future projects!! Keep it going.
OMG!! I was screaming for you in that clip. That was scary! But I'm glad you're okay! You're a G. xo

Oh my gosh... so scary man. I'm glad everyone is safe though. Keep traveling on, right? ;)
Absolutely! The journey never stops.

I almost dropped my phone when the accident happened! OMG! Scary stuff!
hi Peter,

No insurance covered it. I had to pay out of pocket.

Holy crap. Glad you're okay though.
Thank you!
Wow, Peter that was something, holy smokes! (but also felt like something that Ernest Hemingway would find himself in, so badass!) Keep them awesome videos comin'!
Wow! Scary! Glad it all turned out to be okay, minus the car :) another great video, wish there was more :D
Ohhh my gosh that freaked me out. Glad you are ok.
+Catigue Thank you.
I'm glad you are okay amigo. :)
+Alberto Lopez Muchas gracias!
Asi pasa con la mayoria de los autos en cuba. No brakes. No stop signals its a pesadilla. Thanks god you are ok.
+Peter Bragiel I hope he puts some money on a functioning brake. ;-)
Being that they still use older cars. How much do you expect the cost would be?
Wow! Glad you all are fine!
+Linus Wärn I hope so too! Or at least not to use detergent as brake fluid 😳
+Jeremy Why repairs cost around $3k
Such a beautiful car, shame it was in ruff shape and stripped out like that. Probably wouldn't have been totaled if some care was taken

Bro omg
Jesus loves you!
wow, you were lucky, that car was trashed
I don't know man. Dudes license gets suspended so he loans you a car with no breaks? Sounds shady. I'm glad your ok.
Primero!
