Before 1959 Cuba was a semi feudal society with workers living lives similar to slaves. Landowners often killed peasants for whatever reason they felt like. Workers did not have access to free education or health care. Nowadays Cubans have a greater literacy rate, life expectancy and are better fed than US equivalent averages
do you have sources for this? i’m asking cause i used to believe the same but i didn’t find a way to prove that many (especially black) cubans lived as serfs or sharecroppers, etc. i have found proof that a lot of them used to live in shanty towns which doesn’t necessarily contradict or negate the possibility of them still having to pay (out of what they earned) for the tools they used to work with at the plantation for example. just haven’t found anything concrete and i haven’t really heard anything like that from locals in the city or country side (i’m cuban born and raised). don’t doubt the possibility tho 🤷🏾♂️
about being better fed than the us, i’d definitely disagree. there are very few homeless people starving in the streets in cuba but scarcity of food is very much real, something that the average anerican doesn’t quite deal with.
En Ingles: Since Fidel Castro, Raoul Castro, Diaz-Canal and the army's swindler (Gaesa), Cuba has turned into a terrible prison island that is completely bankrupt: if young people are not imprisoned, they have left and only old people are left behind in abject poverty. Everyone raises their hand for money and goods from family and friends abroad; the hotels are empty and airlines are shutting down because there are no more passengers.
Cuba wasn’t “prosperous”. It was a military dictatorship where the average person was deprived of their needs. And this was before any embargo. Of course, I’m sure you knew that.

It is sad to see a wonderful country, with all its strength from the 1950s, being turned into ruins by the mere whim of rulers. All strength to the Cuban people.
No it's turned into ruins because there is an trade embargo on Cuba. The embargo against Cuba was legislated in the Cuban Democracy Act of 1992 and the Helms-Burton Act of 1996. The Helms-Burton Act was passed shortly after Cuba shot down an unarmed American plane, killing four. The law makes it possible to prosecute companies that trade with Cuba, or impose sanctions if they are not American companies. The law also means that the president of the United States can no longer personally - without the consent of Congress - determine whether the embargo will be lifted. The European Union objected to the laws. She thought that it made the United States implausible, because the US dictated to other countries about the importance of a free world market. And that's why Cuba is poor.
@@geekuyl6942Also worth mentioning that with a couple occasional exceptions, U.S. and Israel are the only nations to vote in favour of the embargo consistently. All others oppose it

@@arunbanotra2932my original comment replying to this was deleted but to reiterate 1 read Cuba's constitution 2 why are you conflating democracy and capitalism together, when socialism is where the workers themselves own the means of production and can vote directly or through representatives how their economy is managed 3 america is extremely authoritarian by the metrics they apply to other socialist nations, they aren't under a crippling embargo and are the richest country but lack public healthcare, transport tation, social housing but do have drug, homeless epidemic and over 1% in prison whilst those incarcerated have no minimum wage or right to vote and are made to be in a position to be explpited

I visited Cuba last year for the second time in fourteen years and was shocked to see how the whole country seemed demolished. The roads filled with holes, the houses almost destroyed and the people begging for paracetamol and soap...The people seemed cheerful but that was how it looked. They are afraid to tell how they are real living. Every day the power is off and the toilets are not working. Gasoline is hardly available and cars are waiting in a long line. Nontheless it is a beautiful country and it would be a relief if the government allows the inhabitants more freedom. They need it so bad...

@@andrzejd5301 Maybe in the past, but not today. There's nothing to stop Cuba from trading with China, South American or many European countries. I've been to Cuba 3 times. Love the Cuban people. The 3rd time there we rented a car and drove around the country. Not an easy thing to do. It's not covered by GPS, there's a lack of road signs and we were given a cartoon map. However the locals are very friendly and we would pickup hitchhikers (something we don't do in other countries). They would show us the way. They got a ride to their destination and we got directions. Win win for both parties.

I’m traveling to Cuba in 3 months! Really looking forward to it. Surprisingly I found flights from Delta out of Miami!
Been to Havana three times about 10-13 eyars ago. Very nice people and wonderful cuban rythmic music. Missing Cuba!

Mas é isto que o povo quer, então seja feita a vontade do povo.
All others oppose it
A Nation that deserves better … especially the people ‼️‼️💕💕🇨🇦🇨🇦
End America's embargo!
@@sebastiantigani2720thats shows you that a capitalist economy is much better then communism. No communist country even close to democracy driven economies
@@arunbanotra2932 mate if socialism fails everything then why do capitalist countries need to actively sabotage it with embargoes diplomatic vilification by media corporations and billionar funded think tanks, whilst constantly arming rebel groups and coups
Please tell me why after Salvador allende had to die and be replaced by pinnocet
@@arunbanotra2932my original comment replying to this was deleted but to reiterate
1 read Cuba's constitution
2 why are you conflating democracy and capitalism together, when socialism is where the workers themselves own the means of production and can vote directly or through representatives how their economy is managed
3 america is extremely authoritarian by the metrics they apply to other socialist nations, they aren't under a crippling embargo and are the richest country but lack public healthcare, transport tation, social housing but do have drug, homeless epidemic and over 1% in prison whilst those incarcerated have no minimum wage or right to vote and are made to be in a position to be explpited

Hi i’m french and i think cuba looks like a wonderfull place, i also have a passion for classic cars so it’s very Nice to see a nation who knows how to treat them (even tho they don’t have much other choice) it’s also Nice to see classique amercan cars and classic soviet cars togethere and in a documentary i watched on the country i also could see a peugeot 403 (a french car from the 50s)
So i realy hope this country can prosper without loosing it’s culture and without having the default of the rest of the world (mass surveillance, mass conspiracies…. )
I love CUBA! Havana!!!
The Instrumental music as well as the Harmony of voices sound BEAUTIFUL.

Why wouldn’t the Cubans have mobile phones? Oh… Right.
I can’t make a better description of Cuba today. You’re right, unfortunately. Cuba deserve a better life.

Hello. GPS can’t be blocked. It’s a satelital signal. Just be sure to download Google maps to be used in offline mode 🙂

Experimentei comida mto exótica, tartaruga, cobra e crocodilo, e mto marisco !!
Tudo mto bem organizado, mas a população não vive nada bem!
Parou no tempo!!!
Thanks. I’m sure you’ll find Cuba interesting. It’s good to see different realities. Box is super popular in Cuba! 🤩
It may look dilapidated and be the pothole capital of the world but the people look lovely and relaxed, not stressed as in other capital cities.
Thank you for this wholesome video. And thanks for not putting in loud obnoxious music which would of ruined all of the natural background sounds of this beautiful country!
I was visiting with my parents in 1959 as an infant & recall seeing a military truck full of soldiers from a second story balcony which was impressive in a scary way. I now want to visit & maybe I will someday but not as a tourist but instead to be with the people.
