So cal I have a question that you may or may not know the answer to but do kokanee ever try to make spawning runs and establish their own populations in california or are they strictly planters? I've read an article about landlocked kings in folsom successfully spawning in the north and south forks of the American but do the kokanee do the same?

No we have spawning kokanee at several lakes

Highway 88 offers some great high country options...Silver Lake and Caples Lake are great and there are others....Poke around the web a little and you'll find both lake and stream fishing options.
