Love that the final boss of the season was a disgruntled employee. And not even the the disgruntled employee we expected.
only Egbert could refuse to play a paladin as intended so hard that he turned the bless into the Bane spell.
Andy looks so happy in his GM debut! Also, if we don't have at least one NPC yelling "LENNY!!!" I will be very disappointed.

After credits scene: Liliana looks out from one of Necropolis-on-Sea’s many balconies, contemplating her next move. As she looks to the frozen peak across the bay, lamenting the loss of the dragon eggs to those annoying Oxymorons, she notices something by the opposite shore. Grabbing one of the resident pirate’s many ostentatious telescopes, she spots an intriguing sight. A smile crosses her face as an enormous Brontosaurus starts making its way up the mountain.
Explanation for this proposed scene: what if Dob accidentally shared his curse with the Brontosaurus when he gave his blood to cure the rabies?
What curse? Dob isn't cursed...?
@@mar_speedman Dob is most definitely cursed. He fell into a pungee pit that the Necromantic Ranger dug on that mountain. Prudence saw the curse enter him. He is now cursed to walk up the mountain and seek out that ranger. Doesn’t really matter that the Ranger was frozen and shattered to pieces.
@@speculativemusings3593 Ah right that. That's not the same though. The brontosaur would still be dead, but walk up to there and drop down, lifeless. Practically a temporary zombie. Nothing useful to Liliana, really.
@@mar_speedman except for the curse itself? Imagine if Liliana manages to curse her Eggberts, to get back up after dying? If she can make them keep fighting? I’m sure a smart villain like her can come up with something

Way to waste the Moon. Jokes aside, when I saw the Wild West stereotypes, I was expecting Westbound. Might still be too small a TTRPG to be picked up as little more than a One-Shot Wonder, but I hope this is hilarious.

Corazon's plot finally wrapped up, the dragon's solved, and they're finally going to level up again!

And looking forwards to DM Andy with Deadlands. Who would have guessed he'd do something with cowboys. Also, now the only two Oxventurers who haven't DMed anything are Mike and Jane.
Wonder if they'll fix that.
I can only imagine Jane will run Call of Cthulhu. Mike I can't think of anything immediately. Maybe a longer racing drama with Gravity Rip?
I feel like it's a good opportunity for Oxventures Presents to be just that. Though I'm kind of hoping they don't do the round robin style they used for BitD.
It has it's pros but I found myself hoping for more if the entire crew. I would understand if it's about reduced time commitments but I never really liked that aspect of it.
Jane said she wanted to DM Vampires: The Mascarade.

@@kupalan4374I actually think that might not happen simply because everyone would just want to be a flirty, charming vampire so the entire season would just be Jane roleplaying flirting with all her coworkers.

Maybe in another five years (also I love how Mike has the Oxventure dice tray and proceeds to roll dice on his spells cards instead because the tray is already full of dice)

I recently saw a stream (the Fury of the Black Rose one) where such abilities became much more important.
I think hes used it once. though he does seem to think it's like, an active ability, rather than an always active aura lol
@@_b1ack0ut4 I watched the levelling stream where he talks about it, so he definitely understood how it works. Although, he also said (in the same stream) that he probably wouldn't remember the abilities. xD

Johnny should host a podcast about oxventure 😍 where they talk about the adventures and how their initial plan was, what details, characters, plot points didn't make it in the adventure, that they'd had planned in their notes. And with the oxbox crew occasionally joining for specific topics. God I would love that SO MUCH. But I'd need a few recap episodes about every singe adventure before because I'm hella curious 😂 what would I give to question Johnny about their way of storybuilding.
Oxventure helped me back to storytelling and worldbuilding in form from written story's. I lost that passion of mine in a tough time in my life and I finally feel inspired and excited about writing and plotting again.
There is actually an Oxventure Podcast, hosted by Jane, that has featured Johnny as a guest a few times! Most of the post-game discussion does reveal behind-the-scenes details from Johnny, whether told by themself or the rest of the crew.

I am so nervous about Astatine going to visit Bismuth, presumably at Necropolis-on-Sea, presumably where Liliana still is. I know her current project is cloning but I wouldn't put it past her to hire a necromancer o_O
Then on the flip side, I am so excited for Deadwood. Since Johnny had mentioned it a few times I was wondering if it was something OX would play. Also seems like the perfect setting for Andy to GM!
Thanks for a nice season, lads! Hoping for a levelling stream soon. One thing I'd wish for, though: could we get those artworks and images back in the pre-recorded videos? :)
I agree, they were so charming and creative (but ofc I understand that they must be a massive pain in the arse to edit)
@@gemmanye7374 Probably also an additional expense too I would expect at least for character art. That said, I always love Bendix's style and the new art (dreadfully sorry but I haven't learned the artist's name yet) is wonderful as well so it's a delight to see their work. I feel like it's one of those things which are appreciated but shouldn't be expected.
Agreed. The art from both Bendix and Colin Craker (for Blades) added a lot.
I really just want this turned into an animated show.
They've written such great stories this way
I looooove the super simple animations they did, I was impressed with how much they get out of 4 static expressions and a little woggle

I love the customary few seconds of thinking about all the times the spell Egbert reveals he's had for years could have been useful. Like the last episode where they had to do several saving throws
I wonder if they'll go into Prudence being maybe immortal or if they'll forget about it like her lycanthropy.
Considering the curse beast is likely dead I doubt the curse would stick

I was still half expecting Jane running Vampire: The Masquerade as a fiendish twist, but deadlands run by Andy ought to be a blast!

That could be part of a wrongful dismissal settlement.
I'm excited to see Andy debut as GM. This was not at all unexpected for me as soon as I heard they were going to start on a new system I assumed Andy would be the one to want to try his hand at running the game.
I think it's about time Johnny threw some harder enemies their way i.e. Lilliana.
Also, Andy DM-ing? Yes, please!

I'm only 15 minutes in but I'm very pleased with how much firing a rippling broadside into the curse hole has happened so far ^.^ edit: also the Dob and Corazon flamethrower moment was amazing!! Both Astatine and Denise are totally badass too omg ^.^ no bones about it!! What an awesome episode, thanks for this amazing story arc!!
So, we crawled I to everyone's backstory except for our favorite warlock. Can't wait to see how that plays out I hope it's soon
Ah, they have visited the cave she grew up in , and there was something about the warlock that raised her, so there has certainly been a visit to her backstory, if not a full reading.
Not the setting I was expecting for upcoming "Oxventure presents", but I'm already excited to see how it'll go! Cheers, to you, you wonderful people!
@@JJLYKES Oh, that's for sure- I just thought it would be a good idea to use the same lingo ("Oxventure presents:" - right, that's two words and a colon, and i somehow lost the punctuation there:D) as in Luke's "Blades in the Dark" and "One Shot Wonder". I'm really curious how it'll go, considering his sense of humour:)

I, for one, appreciated the Father-son Kamehameha reference Luke.
As a guy who’s childhood (part of 2 through most of 12) was in the 90’s I’m not ashamed to say that Luke/Dobs quip about season 1 of Power Rangers made me laugh so hard I had to pause for a minute and then rewind the video!
Jane sinisterly stroking the Cthulhu tentacle at 52:20 made me lose it for some reason.

I'm still getting over a cold and Dob wrapping his arms around Corazon a la "Ghost" to light the grease on fire (badass move, btw) sent me into a coughing fit from laughing. Worth it.
I definitely swore when the music changed as Astatine started going for Hammerdahl and then Dob trying to grab him to steer him away; especially when Johnny rolled and asked Dob his armor class.
Nice fast correction, Johnny, from "get off" to "get off of" the horns, lol. I'm with Johnny as well on the psychic damage from treading on a plug.
Really, really epic ending to an awesome season. I can't wait to see what spells and such everyone learns when they level up. I'm also super excited for Deadlands and Andy GMing.
I would like to state that, despite some feelings about Speak With Animals and a certain Hag, I loved this season. It was very well-done and a blast to watch. My only concern about Speak with Animals was that it seemed like it was banned without a discussion amongst you guys, but if you all agree on something and no feelings are hurt, no harm done. The Hag's treatment I disagree with personally, but I also don't really agree with leaving a baker to die and saving the croissants, and both situations were very funny. Ultimately, it's your guys' show. You do you, and thank you for letting all of us look in on these hilarious and outstanding DnD sessions.
3:20 i love how Ellen and. ... Andy? (I didn't watch that one shot) seeing Rhi/sentry of the high rollers playing a real paladin has "almost" made Mike/Egbert up his game.
If you're talking about Fury of the Black Rose, that was Ellen and Johnny. If you mean the Oxventure/high rollers DnD celebration crossover, that was Johnny, Andy and Luke. Hope that clears it up!
I'm just imagining Sentry patiently trying to teach Egbert how to Paladin. It's adorable.
25:30 so apparently Hammerdahl can carry a grown centaur on a cushion? Because "Margery" is the name of the centaur lady. The abyssal chicken that was probably meant to be carried is named "Malory".
I enjoyed this arc a lot. Whose turn is it next? Prudence confronts her birth parents (with Hunger of Hadar, probably)?
Also, I’ve been wondering for a while why there hasn’t been any Deadlands, so I’m looking forward to that!

If anyone has read the Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne McCaffery, Johnny's description of the extinct volcano caldera sounded like a weyr.

I did it. I finally watched the entirety of oxventure. And sense I also watched the entirety of blades in the dark, I am more then ready for deadlands!
I hope Sheriff Bart and The Waco Kid make an appearance in Deadlands but if they do, a word of advice- always give the Governor a 'hurumph'.
That would be the best Easter egg ever! Especially if Hedy.... or Hedley makes an appearance.
Please have Hammerdiel come back as a villain with a trained dragon army 🙏
I imagine it was a lot of work, but I truly enjoyed the little clips using the character art. It has set this stream apart from other DND streams and would love to see them return. Excellent season I can't wait to see what they do next!

I love Oxventure so much. Andy learning the rules of to act as Game Master makes me very excited for whats coming, maybe each of them will pick a TTRPG to GM?

Very curious to know if they planned to do this during this arc, or if it was the oxventurers going their own way. This whole idea did come out of a drunken party that was initially going to result in pain(/death?) for Hammerdal.

@Freddie Hoy I remember thinking it was so strange how the plot pivoted after they arrived at the park lol. I kept wondering if they had literally just forgotten the dragons. I guess I got my answer lol.

So when everyone (except Prudence) teamed up to defeat The Entity of the Cursehole, not only did I picture Dob and Corazon referencing Ghost, but I also immediately thought of Avengers: Age of Ultron. I think it was Iron Man, Thor and Vision teamed up to nearly melt Ultron at near the end of the film. I hope when Amazon finally get round to animating the Oxventurers, I hope they draw upon both as inspiration.

Such a fantastic series and the finale was just perfect! Cannot wait for Deadlands either, and can't help but imagine a character like Dob being the type to rave about his glass eye in it 😅

One thing I'd like to see are GM breakdowns of various seasons. Because I have questions both about this season and especially the last (heck, also the ending of S3, basically after the rooster demon got loose) for what parts of it Johnny was planning and what parts completely blindsided them. And I know we occasionally get some of that on the podcast, but...
i agree. i do want to hear their side of the story. i really disliked this season finale and the entirety of the previous season, the pacing and the narrative pay offs were pretty bad in both cases. and a lot on internal logical inconsistencies. i still do not understand if the dragon dor was not an evil sect of paladins, why did they keep locked up a sentient sapient intelligent creature known to be kind and wise and belonging to a species of magical beasts that grows STRONGER WITH AGE?? obviously then the dragon was deceived and was cruelly betrayed by some order members, but we dont get into that interesting story at all. they just blow up the door and it immediately leaves and forgives them instantly despite being so cruelly treated and being a whole ass DRAGON who are notoriously arrogant and have a superiority complex, and kills an invading army all by himself. yawn.

True but it also started pretty quickly from the last season. So hopefully a new arc begins in about 2 weeks or so
I actually think i prefer the idea of shorter campaigns but more of them. 1 massive 50-60 weeks campaign i dont think would fit the oxventurers play style. We had that in bitd and while it fit when they were all (except mike) playing serious characters, i think its a bit late for them to brush up their act and start doing serious campaigns. I might be wrong of course and they manage a transition like that really well 🤷♂️
It is extremely Oxventure that Mike -- in a sincere attempt to actually engage with his class features -- backdoors his way from a 1st-level spell into... another 1st-level spell.
I sometimes doubt Egbert's commitment to sparkle motion.
