This morning my right ankle was noticeably swollen, felt like I sprained it. Been hobbling around. Felt better after standing outside for an hour volunteering at parkrun. Guess what I am going to do now?
I was terribly disappointed after my very first 10k race, with 9.8k on my watch😥. My family at the finish line didn't understand why I kept running after the finish line. Nothing worse then runs with a not "round" km distance😀
This can become a Neverending problem too! Once I get to 5 miles I think "well 6 isn't much further" and then it's "well 10k is only another half mile" and then you might as well go up 7, and at that point let's just go to 10, and now you're close to a half-marathon...
I used to do only HR zone training, but at one point I decided to go by feel (I was mentally exhausted by constantly checking my watch to see if I'm in the right zone). During the transition period, I'd go out with my friends and say something like, "I ran with no heart rate today, it felt so good!" They will probably never let me live it down lol
Hilarious! I've been a runner for over 35 years and have said and experienced most of these things. Also my must watch tv prog is the weather forecast.
I once left a board games night at 9pm and casually said I fancied running a half marathon when I got home. Non running friends are horrified. Sure enough I ran 36 laps of my 600m college field when I got back 😅🏃🏻♀️
Very funny. The watch says I am unproductive…I know that one so well. It’s like being married, but the watch has all the power, and makes no compromises!

This morning, as I lined up for parkun, it was advising "17 hours" because: "poor sleep"; on finishing it advised a 52 hour recovery. Reason: "delayed by high activity"! Meanwhile, the app is suggesting I up my training load. Not sure what to do as I am not getting anything like enough speed or endurance training at present. Ho hum.

Yeah, the military has a similar thing of getting overly(questionable) personable when it came to PT. There was a saying I heard my commander say once when we were crawling through mud just for fun, "Shared suffering breeds comradery." Which I found to be true, and I think its why people tend to feel close to others who they run with. There's something about struggling in the company of others that brings you closer.
Hey TRC Team! I love your videos and thought I’d drop this idea over to you for a future vid… There are groups on social media asking for guide runners to run with blind runners who can’t get out running for whatever reason such as not having a family member who runs or not knowing anyone who runs at their pace or not knowing anyone who can run at a time of day suitable to both. I haven’t personally been able to get involved as I’ve not found any blind runners local to me but it’s something I think is an amazing thing to be involved with. It would be great to raise awareness of/promote guide running to help that community. Thanks team!
I had to go out for a longish trail run leading up to a 50k, and it was just above freezing, and raining. As soon as summer goes and the warm weather goes you feel so happy and excited to not run while sweating like crazy and then 5 days later after a 3 day storm it goes straight back to you miss summer
With running (and some non-running) friends definitely guilty of taunting each other to do longer races. "If no one has ever died trying to complete that distance does it even count as a distance race?" Or the old "if you're not sore the day after your run it really doesn't count."
@@runningchannel Same to you!! Also I would loveee for you and Nick Symmonds to do a video together. His channel and your channel are my favorite running channels on UA-cam!
4:56 I've never gotten that cold running myself, but I did follow a buddy one time he was running 18 miles on my bike ended up getting very cold.. And I did get almost frostbite because I did not have warm enough clothes on 🙂.
Great video! Definitely have heard a lot of these and said/did a lot of these. I can also Google this, but what is the distance of a park run / what are park runs? Is it a UK thing? I’ve only heard the term on this channel, never met anyone in the US use the term or heard the term on other running channel videos.
A Parkrun is 5km. It's a free timed event that's held every Saturday morning at specific locations. In Australia we have 415 Parkruns (I did a google search!) and there are new ones popping up regularly. But there are only 48 in the USA apparently.
I just checked and there are 49 park runs in the USA , so it is a thing. But that’s not many for a huge country. Doesn’t sound as though there are any in your area, so I guess it’s up to you to get it started.
