Saving up for Pocket 3. I was expecting bigger improvements from Pocket 2 when the leaks come out. 5K/60 or 4K/120 would be nice, and 1 inch sensor was everybody's expectation. Maybe DJI won't make us regret waiting P3. Nice video as always Samuel! 👍

You didn’t mention anything about the active track system it has. It is very useful for selfie photos / videos, especially is you’re a one person camera crew As for the contents on the SD Card for the Pocket 2, you can use the phone app to copy it to the phone. Similar if you were using any other camera, such as Sony or Panasonic. It may be slow, but could be useful in the field to do this, such as editing I own this camera system and I have found it useful for obtaining BTS footage and photos when I don’t have access to a second camera person Lastly, for some of the distance shots in your review, did you have a second camera person or were using the active track of another camera system to film yourself?
The Pocket 2 gives you a lot of flexibility and covert options, especially if you are doing BTS and want people to be unaware they are being recorded. I can totally see why you use it for BTS, is actually great for that, to be honest. And it is hard to fit everything that is so great about the pocket 2 within a 14-15 minute video. I could go on for nearly half an hour and that would be too long. Tracking can be useful although it is not as well implemented as you would have wished, which is something I hope they improve on in the pocket 3, whenever that comes out. Now, in regards to the camera moving shots. Sometimes I get someone to help me but in this video (and many others) it is just me (I will be soon trying to link up with other fellow UA-camrs or content creators in the London area to help me out) and I use a little gimbal, a Hohem iSteadyV2 that is a gem, as it has an AI sensor that tracks you for a good 15-20 feet, which a lot of the times is all you need. I have a wireless Lavalier microphone connected to my iPhone. One tiny little adapter in the lightning port, and the mic on my lapel. Nothing could be simpler.

The work flow for the pocket 2 is amazing for me because of the micro sd. I can't cope with the dreadful workflows of the insta360 etc. Taking out a micro sd takes less than a second. I can put another one in. I can transfer to my computer at speeds no wireless connection can do. Yet taking stuff off of other cameras with their 'workflows' can be 5-6 times as long. I'd have returned my pocket 2 without its work flow being as amazing as it is!
Thanks for chipping in. I am not suggesting that the data transfer speed is not brilliant, which it is. I agree with you. But the pocket 2 isn't reliable when connecting to a computer, it uses old mini/micro USB2 wnen it should really be USBC and also the slot for the card, it is honestly the hardest card slot I have ever used. Half the times I can't honestly put the card back on because I don't have long nails and I need to use a key or something else. It should be way easier. That's what I mean when I said, they need to look into it. I am sure you can agree with me that there is plenty of room for improvement in the current pocket 2...
@@SamuelSotiega Hey. What do you mean it's micro usb? The connections on the pocket 2 are all usbc! Granted, awkwardly placed. The card reader slot is actually a little bit of a faff, so I see where you're coming from there. It's the angle of it and how close it is to the edge. As for things that could do with improving, oh absolutely! The do-it-all handle should be standard I think and it shouldn't be as long. The biggest issue for me though is that the only real way to grip the camera at a reasonable angle is from the front on the replacement modular slots. Which you also need if you're going to do quite literally any video recording a all without carrying a smartphone with you. I didn't by a decent second camera for when my phone was next to me xD. I bought it for the times I don't want my phone with me! Finally, DJI are absolutely disgusting as a company. They sell you a product, and after buying it, they force you to install their app (to even turn it on....). Then they want your device details, access to your wifi, and all your location information. Then they want an email, etc. It's frustrating they're so greedy and want all my data too! It's so bad that Google (the company best known for privacy invasion and dreadful practices), removed them from the play store for going too far. Half a thousand pounds almost and they're still mugging off their own customers.

Thanks for the video. Im using the pocket2 quite a bit, nice little camera, one thing I wish they had is option to set different video profiles, like fullhd 30p in selfie mode and 4k 60p when shooting forward when I want to shoot something interesting and I need to start filming fast and no time for mode change or working in gloves etc.
Thanks for the review. I shoot almost all my videos on my UA-cam channel with my Redmi Note 10 phone and the camera is not doing bad and the quality is amazing compare to the price of the phone . So now am looking good camera to upgrade my video quality something less than 500 dollars .
When the pocket 3 come out, well, there are high hopes for that.... I am soon doing a video on a canon camera set up that is a bit more than $500 but it is scalable to a vlog set up up to a high end 10 bit 4:2:2 cinema set up, if you ever need to go down that route. You will enjoy that. But for easy filming camera and a gimbal, the DJI pocket 2 is hard to beat. I love it and use it all the time. I really hope when the 3 comes out, rumours are sometime in November, it is something special.

@@everestjourney it will be within the next 3-4 weeks. I have a schedule number of videos to make, just need to find the time to fit in the filming! But it will be relatively soon. The good thing is that the concept applies to whatever camera or brand. I use Canon as all my lenses are canon… i think it will be a cool video when it comes out… 😉
yes the tech is amazing. Had my Pocket 2 now 14 months. I am the only one who shoots bands with it Marty Sender You Tube. out of warranty, it's starting to show some age.....but it's still a blast to shoot with it. Rumors: a Pocket 3 in the works for late 2022 and Go Pro and a South Korean company are both releasing soon a very similar to Pocket 2 designed camera, better specs. FYI
Time will tell! It is the one everyone tries to be better, but I still find the Pocket 2 trumps them all. I am honestly looking forward to see what the P3 will be like. Whenever that comes out…

@@mr.grotto good 4 u. mine is 2 years old now and, auto exposure fails, closes down, opens up real fast. friend has one, same thing. in my case, one part of stage is dark, other side too much light, camera tries to average it out, fails. a Pocket 3 would be a nice upgrade, 1 inch sensor, 10 bit color, more reliable auto exposure. thing is they are so cheap, you can buy 2 and not break the bank. I use my $2000 mirrorless and i'm always freaked i'll drop it. Pocket? if it happens, no big deal, just get another one.

And yes, as I am new user of pocket2, the greatest and most powerful advantage I could highlight is using the same quality camera for doing frontface videos 👌👌👌
All footage is graded, nothing is left in the native color space. I use D-Cine color space as I find it way easier to grade and work with, Normal color space has way too much contrast and saturation to my liking to start with. I highly recommend you use D-Cine color space when recording, whatever the conditions. I have a video on how to grade it, but also have a set of LUTs if you want to do this process quick adn easy, as they are just drag and drop. But everything has been edited and graded by me. And I agree with you, I love th fact the gimbal turns around and you get the same high quality lens for either front or rear filming, which is awesome!!

I’ve only experienced that once when I did a city walk and was filming non-stop for an hour and 15 minutes. You can join clips in almost any editing platform. It’s not ideal but to me, not a big deal at all. Most times, if ever, you’ll never hit that limit….
I never use phone for videos. Cant even imagine recording 2 hours event using phone.. and when someone calls to it while recording and battery drain zeez... and so on .. all in one things are always bad. Should Be proper Gear always for The thing.
For as long 4k is the default quality, every 4k stabilized video, with proper exposure is going to worth it. A larger sensor and a larger battery is the only thing I would anticipate for the p3. Just for the low light capabilities. Using mine on a z-axis stabilizer for the shots that my a7iii just can't go through. Awesome piece of equipment, that laughs hard in the pro faces!!!!
@@SamuelSotiega because you seem to have used the pocket 2 extensively, I would like to ask you, if you have found a descent external mic. Whatever I have used, doesn't seem to do the job. Even pricy ones that work amazingly with the full frames. Is there some kind of setting in order to work with external mics? Seems I'm missing something... Thank you in advance and great work sir
@@dimitrios_sallonika6941 have you ever considered buying the creator’s combo? It comes with the do-it-all-handle which is a wireless receiver, and also comes with a wireless mic/transmitter if you want to use a lapel mic. It is what I use when filming with the pocket 2 and it has never failed me.
I own the creators combo, and for presentations is excellent!!! My problem is when I want to use the op2 on a scotty makes stuff z-axis stabilizer as a second role, moving camera and need to record ambient sound. Even though the video is decent (actually excellent, nobody ever complained about it) the sound is horrible. Either using rodes or a boya mic. It's a little bit frustrating that I've learned to proper expose the lens (polarpro cinema series and freewheel wide lens with the interchangeable ND filters),and still try to workaround the sound.I actually use the sound off the a7iii on the tripod, but many times the "action" 8s too far away for that mic,ending up with horrible sound. I use the mics with the 3.5 mm jack rigged on the socket of the doitall handle. But there is always something way off. I really like the set up I have done with the op2,and it actually looks really professional delivering 4k steady running footage, in addition with the other cameras . But my sound is always weak, so I have to cover it actually with music in post. The build in mics don't work for my setup, but I am forced to use them, because I don't have any other alternative at the moment. Apparently I am doing something wrong!!!

hello sir! first here! are you making one on crane m2s??? Totally agree with your review. The pocket two is still a very good camera, better than most cameras on phones, and if you don't have any top of the line smartphone such as the Galaxy or the Pixel or the iPhone, and that is if you have some budget Android phones with decent but not the best camera. Then the pocket two is an excellent. Purchase for you. I am one of those people who uses budget Android phones. My current phone is less than $200 and I thought instead of buying an iPhone I should vote by this pocket to because my phone is still working fine and I really don't need an expensive phone. The money is better spent on a better camera. And I'm just waiting for a few offers to drop in. Maybe if the pocket three will be announced then there will be some reduction in pocket to combo prices. The best thing about pocket to which I like is the small size, which as you mentioned is so small that it is very discreet and people hardly mentioned you. They hardly notice you and I being a beginner and a little bit shy, I do find myself very self aware if I am shooting pictures. I even hate taking selfies in public because I feel. Very awkward. So if I have to take a camera and gimbal and phone then that will be even more awkward. The pocket two is a perfect solution in that case.

Great video - but I’m somewhat disappointed. I originally ordered the pocket 2, but then canceled the order and went ahead with ordering the g6 max instead 😔 - maybe I’ll wait for the pocket 3 to come out.
DGI still seems to be the Gold standard for this type of camera but for the price I think it should be a bit more durable (and water resistant). I have not seen this camera in person . Is the screen too small to be easily seen? Is it compatible with Android ?
Yes, it is Android compatible. The pocket 2 will probably be a really good camera for at least another 2-3 years. It really is that good and to be honerst with you, as long as you know what you're doing, you will be able to get amazing footage even 10 years from now. But technology keeps improving and they will have to release a new mnodel to compete with what other companies are offering, otherwise people will gradually move away, and once people buy onto another camera set up, you lost that client/ user. Most people buy one bit of equipment and stick to it for a while, so they will hopefully come through with the goods.....

@@Burtonupontrentrailwaystoday the action 3 has a lovely wide angle. It is newer and seem to have a phenomenal stabilisation. Hard to say. The pocket 2 seems to have better colours and more suited to vlogging and changing lenses and filters. The action 4 seems like a 4-wheel drive. If it was me, based on what you told me, I think I would go for the action 4. But if you want flexibility with lenses and filters, the pocket 2. Difficult choice!!! Please let me know what you end up doing… I kinda wish there was a pocket 3 to then compare new cameras, like apples to apples…
They do but the lens of the pocket 2 is slightly larger so you might see some vignetting around the edges/corners. That vignetting is the edges of the filter itself as the larger lens “see” those and in bright days you might see some slight vignetting.
There is one problem on this....they cant do input mic....nothing can do my dound like 2 microphones....its clear this person doesent undersant how audio works....would tell him about zoom h1n but its clear the person that did this doesent understant audio and aurio capture, woulkd love it if they did but they just dond have any aideaw

@@HelloThere-lo3qi as far as I am aware, you can use the LUTs with lumafusion as the files are .cube and luma fusion can import them easily. You can pay either with card or paypal, whatever works best or easier for you. Is it worth it in 2022 ? Of course not* That's way I bought 10 days ago brand new Dji Pocket 2 😁🤘 *I am joking of course 😜 It's worth it and it's worth it a lot ! Great quality, more than enough of manuel settings. Small size and HUGE eco system 👍 And last, but definitely not least, almost budget friendly.
I use DaVinci Resolve for all my editing and grading. I have a couple of tutorial videos about it, which you might find very helpful. Plus, my next video is the launch of my LUTs specific for the Pocket 2 in D-cine color space. I think you will enjoy watching that when it comes out in a day or two…
I would highly recommend that you buy the creator’s combo rather than the dji mic kit. Essentially you need the creator’s combo anyway to get the wireless do-it-all-handle and the combo comes with its own wireless mic that links up to the pocket 2 the moment you turn it on. It is really well implemented. Wouldn’t that be a better option for you?

I used a lapel mic either (I can’t remember exactly) stuck to my chest, or stuck to the inside of the t-shirt’s collar using medical tape and URSA fomies. I fit the lapel mic inside the ursa foamy so there is no rattlle betwene skin and clothing. I then use the wireless mic from the creator's combo to record audio from the lapel mic to the pocket wirelessly. Is this the kind of info you were after?

Big, Classic, Photography and Compositional mistake, and it really doesn't look as good as could if you simply reversed your shooting angle by about 180 degrees.*

They should fire that guy, who the hell does he think he is! 😁 But when you are a solo content creator with a family and limited time to shoot whatever videos, the luxury of reshooting is not one I have. I do usually carry a lens hood to attach to my phone lenses and filters for these types of situations but that day I didn't have it after washing my camera bag (do people even do that??), so there you have it. You know that saying that any mistakes behind the camera can easily pass as creative genius? I guess you caught me with the pants down!! Shame on you!! Hehehe... Thanks for the review. I shoot almost all my videos on my UA-cam channel with my Redmi Note 10 phone and the camera is not doing bad and the quality is amazing compare to the price of the phone . So now am looking good camera to upgrade my video quality something less than 500 dollars .
When the pocket 3 come out, well, there are high hopes for that.... I am soon doing a video on a canon camera set up that is a bit more than $500 but it is scalable to a vlog set up up to a high end 10 bit 4:2:2 cinema set up, if you ever need to go down that route. You will enjoy that. But for easy filming camera and a gimbal, the DJI pocket 2 is hard to beat. I love it and use it all the time. I really hope when the 3 comes out, rumours are sometime in November, it is something special.

@@everestjourney it will be within the next 3-4 weeks. I have a schedule number of videos to make, just need to find the time to fit in the filming! But it will be relatively soon. The good thing is that the concept applies to whatever camera or brand. I use Canon as all my lenses are canon… i think it will be a cool video when it comes out… 😉
yes the tech is amazing. Had my Pocket 2 now 14 months. I am the only one who shoots bands with it Marty Sender You Tube. out of warranty, it's starting to show some age.....but it's still a blast to shoot with it. Rumors: a Pocket 3 in the works for late 2022 and Go Pro and a South Korean company are both releasing soon a very similar to Pocket 2 designed camera, better specs. FYI
Time will tell! It is the one everyone tries to be better, but I still find the Pocket 2 trumps them all. I am honestly looking forward to see what the P3 will be like. Whenever that comes out…

@@mr.grotto good 4 u. mine is 2 years old now and, auto exposure fails, closes down, opens up real fast. friend has one, same thing. in my case, one part of stage is dark, other side too much light, camera tries to average it out, fails. a Pocket 3 would be a nice upgrade, 1 inch sensor, 10 bit color, more reliable auto exposure. thing is they are so cheap, you can buy 2 and not break the bank. I use my $2000 mirrorless and i'm always freaked i'll drop it. Pocket? if it happens, no big deal, just get another one.
I am waiting for the Pocket 3 coming in around November this year!

And yes, as I am new user of pocket2, the greatest and most powerful advantage I could highlight is using the same quality camera for doing frontface videos 👌👌👌
All footage is graded, nothing is left in the native color space. I use D-Cine color space as I find it way easier to grade and work with, Normal color space has way too much contrast and saturation to my liking to start with. I highly recommend you use D-Cine color space when recording, whatever the conditions. I have a video on how to grade it, but also have a set of LUTs if you want to do this process quick adn easy, as they are just drag and drop. But everything has been edited and graded by me. And I agree with you, I love th fact the gimbal turns around and you get the same high quality lens for either front or rear filming, which is awesome!!

I read people are complaining about large video size and this does't make a single video rather multiple short clips. Whats your opinion on this?
I’ve only experienced that once when I did a city walk and was filming non-stop for an hour and 15 minutes. You can join clips in almost any editing platform. It’s not ideal but to me, not a big deal at all. Most times, if ever, you’ll never hit that limit….

I never use phone for videos. Cant even imagine recording 2 hours event using phone.. and when someone calls to it while recording and battery drain zeez... and so on .. all in one things are always bad. Should Be proper Gear always for The thing.

For as long 4k is the default quality, every 4k stabilized video, with proper exposure is going to worth it. A larger sensor and a larger battery is the only thing I would anticipate for the p3. Just for the low light capabilities. Using mine on a z-axis stabilizer for the shots that my a7iii just can't go through. Awesome piece of equipment, that laughs hard in the pro faces!!!!

@@dimitrios_sallonika6941 have you ever considered buying the creator’s combo? It comes with the do-it-all-handle which is a wireless receiver, and also comes with a wireless mic/transmitter if you want to use a lapel mic. It is what I use when filming with the pocket 2 and it has never failed me.
I own the creators combo, and for presentations is excellent!!! My problem is when I want to use the op2 on a scotty makes stuff z-axis stabilizer as a second role, moving camera and need to record ambient sound. Even though the video is decent (actually excellent, nobody ever complained about it) the sound is horrible. Either using rodes or a boya mic. It's a little bit frustrating that I've learned to proper expose the lens (polarpro cinema series and freewheel wide lens with the interchangeable ND filters),and still try to workaround the sound.I actually use the sound off the a7iii on the tripod, but many times the "action" 8s too far away for that mic,ending up with horrible sound. I use the mics with the 3.5 mm jack rigged on the socket of the doitall handle. But there is always something way off. I really like the set up I have done with the op2,and it actually looks really professional delivering 4k steady running footage, in addition with the other cameras . But my sound is always weak, so I have to cover it actually with music in post. The build in mics don't work for my setup, but I am forced to use them, because I don't have any other alternative at the moment. Apparently I am doing something wrong!!!

Totally agree with your review. The pocket two is still a very good camera, better than most cameras on phones, and if you don't have any top of the line smartphone such as the Galaxy or the Pixel or the iPhone, and that is if you have some budget Android phones with decent but not the best camera. Then the pocket two is an excellent. Purchase for you. I am one of those people who uses budget Android phones. My current phone is less than $200 and I thought instead of buying an iPhone I should vote by this pocket to because my phone is still working fine and I really don't need an expensive phone. The money is better spent on a better camera. And I'm just waiting for a few offers to drop in. Maybe if the pocket three will be announced then there will be some reduction in pocket to combo prices.
The best thing about pocket to which I like is the small size, which as you mentioned is so small that it is very discreet and people hardly mentioned you. They hardly notice you and I being a beginner and a little bit shy, I do find myself very self aware if I am shooting pictures. I even hate taking selfies in public because I feel. Very awkward. So if I have to take a camera and gimbal and phone then that will be even more awkward. The pocket two is a perfect solution in that case.

Great video - but I’m somewhat disappointed. I originally ordered the pocket 2, but then canceled the order and went ahead with ordering the g6 max instead 😔 - maybe I’ll wait for the pocket 3 to come out.
I use the G6 Max a lot too. But waiting for the pocket 3 seems a wise move while you make use of the G6 Max….
DGI still seems to be the Gold standard for this type of camera but for the price I think it should be a bit more durable (and water resistant). I have not seen this camera in person . Is the screen too small to be easily seen?

Yes, it is Android compatible. The pocket 2 will probably be a really good camera for at least another 2-3 years. It really is that good and to be honerst with you, as long as you know what you're doing, you will be able to get amazing footage even 10 years from now. But technology keeps improving and they will have to release a new mnodel to compete with what other companies are offering, otherwise people will gradually move away, and once people buy onto another camera set up, you lost that client/ user. Most people buy one bit of equipment and stick to it for a while, so they will hopefully come through with the goods.....

The pocket 2 seems to have better colours and more suited to vlogging and changing lenses and filters. The action 4 seems like a 4-wheel drive. If it was me, based on what you told me, I think I would go for the action 4. But if you want flexibility with lenses and filters, the pocket 2. Difficult choice!!! Please let me know what you end up doing… I kinda wish there was a pocket 3 to then compare new cameras, like apples to apples…

They do but the lens of the pocket 2 is slightly larger so you might see some vignetting around the edges/corners. That vignetting is the edges of the filter itself as the larger lens “see” those and in bright days you might see some slight vignetting.
There is one problem on this....they cant do input mic....nothing can do my dound like 2 microphones....its clear this person doesent undersant how audio works....would tell him about zoom h1n but its clear the person that did this doesent understant audio and aurio capture, woulkd love it if they did but they just dond have any aideaw

@@HelloThere-lo3qi as far as I am aware, you can use the LUTs with lumafusion as the files are .cube and luma fusion can import them easily. You can pay either with card or paypal, whatever works best or easier for you. I use DaVinci Resolve for all my editing and grading. I have a couple of tutorial videos about it, which you might find very helpful. Plus, my next video is the launch of my LUTs specific for the Pocket 2 in D-cine color space. I think you will enjoy watching that when it comes out in a day or two…
Hi - with the Smartphone and powerbank holder can you still connect the DJI Mic Kit that has just been released.
I would highly recommend that you buy the creator’s combo rather than the dji mic kit. Essentially you need the creator’s combo anyway to get the wireless do-it-all-handle and the combo comes with its own wireless mic that links up to the pocket 2 the moment you turn it on. It is really well implemented. Wouldn’t that be a better option for you?

Which mic did you use for this? Did you do the recording later in the studio?
I used a lapel mic either (I can’t remember exactly) stuck to my chest, or stuck to the inside of the t-shirt’s collar using medical tape and URSA fomies. I fit the lapel mic inside the ursa foamy so there is no rattlle betwene skin and clothing. I then use the wireless mic from the creator's combo to record audio from the lapel mic to the pocket wirelessly. Is this the kind of info you were after?

They should fire that guy, who the hell does he think he is! 😁 But when you are a solo content creator with a family and limited time to shoot whatever videos, the luxury of reshooting is not one I have. I do usually carry a lens hood to attach to my phone lenses and filters for these types of situations but that day I didn't have it after washing my camera bag (do people even do that??), so there you have it. You know that saying that any mistakes behind the camera can easily pass as creative genius? I guess you caught me with the pants down!! Shame on you!! Hehehe...
