How to USE RED LIPSTICK TO COVER DARK UNDER EYE CIRCLES | Does it Work?

- Watch me perform a side-by-side comparison using red lipstick as an under eye concealer versus using concealer alone. I was actually really surprised at the results! Plus, I take you to school to teach you about the color wheel & why you should use an orange/red concealer. I apply my Nyx red liquid lipstick to one eye & cover it with my Tarte Shape Tape & then I only apply the Shape Tape to the other eye. I even asked my husband which one looked better- stay tuned for his answer toward the end. All you need for this tutorial is a red lipstick & some full-coverage concealer or foundation. *Heads up: I've only used cream lipsticks for this little trick before this video & the Nyx liquid lipstick shown irritated my under eye area, so I would recommend using a cream lipstick instead of a liquid formula when you try this at home :) I used a stippling brush & makeup sponge, but these are completely optional. I would have preferred a more orange/peach red, but I simply didn't have that exact color, but I feel that the red that I used worked pretty well! Have you ever tried using red lipstick as undereye concealer before?

Hi, did you find you had to use a lot of concealer to cover it up?
Could the brighter/more coverage results be due to having to put on extra concealer to cover the red?
Yeah, so I actually thought of this as well. However, even in the past when I’ve piled on the Shape Tape concealer I feel that I can still see the dark circles underneath it. I really do think that the red canceled out some of the dark blue/purple 😊

I also think you applied way way way to much red then what was needed
Maybe she was showing what it would look like if someone needs to pack the makeup on heavy. When you have a job working in a dark bar you need to put your makeup on heavy so that others can see it.

I'm conflicted about this, because it totally seems to have worked. However, it also seems like you had to use a whole lot more concealer to cover up the red. Personally I'd be concerned about staining or causing irritation when you go to take it off.
So I hear what you're saying Jennifer. I had that thought also, however, even when I apply loads of the Shape Tape, I can still see dark blue/purple under my eyes. That's why in my other videos I tend to use 2 different concealers plus a foundation under my eyes for my makeup looks. It could be a factor, but I honestly don't think that the concealer alone covered my dark circles as well as the lipstick. I noted in the description that every time I've used cream lipstick that it didn't stain or cause irritation, however, the liquid lipstick did cause a slight bit of irritation but no staining. You can definitely use a more peach/orange cream lipstick/concealer & I bet you'd have great results 😊
Also I wonder if the opposite would work for people who have a red skin tone and want to neutralize that… So if I tinted my face green or blue before concealer would that Cancel out the red 🤔

We have BIngo where I live, and I won some Estee Lauder samples, I didn't know what they were for. That's amazing, I didn't know you could do that with red lipstick, I was so skeptical. I don't get bags under my eyes, I'm lucky.
Ha, yes! I started seeing other people try it, but I didn't believe that it actually worked, but it turns out that it does! I wouldn't use this every single day, but it's nice to know that it works in case you ever need some really good cover up for those dark bags 😊 Thanks as always for commenting Michelle! 💗

looool course it's working better, have you seen the amount of concealer you've used to cover that red vs. 1x layer of concealer on the other side! hahahaha you should've used the same amount of concealer on both under-eyes to be able to compare properly.
Red colour is said to work for darker skintones

I understand what you're saying Bella. Other times I've tried it even when I packed on the Shape Tape concealer I can still see the dark circles underneath it. I really do believe that the red lipstick canceled out some of the dark blue/purple. If you try it let me know how it works for you! 💗

That and Starbucks doubleshot energy helps to LOL. They're great, they come in all sorts of flavors and there in 16oz cans like Monsters but you don't feel as jittery. My favorite is the white chocolate. I know it's totally off topic but it seemed relevant to what you said LOL.

Idk, for all that work I don't see THAT much of a difference tbh. I mean it looks brighter, but after she finishes her foundation I feel like the red side looks more cakey.
