Have you tried the NXY bare serum concealer ? I’m SO impressed, it’s damn good coverage …like hella good…. has a really thin texture, it wears amazing too! It reminds me a lot of the Sephora gel concealer and a big like the bare minerals serum concealer but with much better coverage.
1. Moisturize 2. Apply under eye primer (a tiny amount) 3. Give it a couple of minutes to set 4. Apply under eye color corrector with a brush (because of the precision). *she applies a tiny amount on the hollow parts and where she has the most darkness. *she doesn't apply it all the way up to her eye because of the fine lines 5. Apply concealer with a brush *patting with a brush in a downward motion *use a really light hand
As someone who naturally has very dark circles and under-eye creasing, but who also likes minimal and natural-looking makeup, it's been pretty much impossible and very discouraging to find a solution that would check all the boxes. My current routine is pretty much based on your older videos, but I am over the moon happy you've posted this. Thank you!
This was an immense help Alex. I have been so discouraged about makeup lately bc of eye creasing. At 41 years old, I just can't do powders anymore! Thanks again!! Xoxo
Same Haley! At 45, I can barely use any powder...I have dry skin and super hydrate under my eyes before applying anything...thanks so much Alex this is super encouraging! ❤️
I am 30yrs old and my under eye area never had a chance with powders 😂😂 When I was 20 there were already creases so I always had to apply lightly. Good thing is a good eye cream (bobbi brown for example) and light coverage kinda saves you money. 😅
I love that you acknowledge both your changing makeup tastes and the change in undereye skin texture as you age. I'm 33 and that really speaks to me! Full coverage is no longer flattering on me, EVERYTHING creases under my eyes, and I'm honestly just more confident and comfortable with my natural face than I was in my 20's. This is the perfect way to give myself a slight enhancement for when I feel like it :)
I'm 53 years old. My make up routine consisted of slapping on some cream, foundation, eye liner, mascara. Thanks to you Alex my face now looks amazingly younger without looking over done. I had no idea about primers, serums etc and now my skin base and face looks more dewy and youthful. Never too old to learn new habits regarding skin and make up...can't thankyou enough ❤
these dark circles videos are life changing for me ! they used to be my biggest insecurity (always been thinking of getting injections for them and all) and discovering you and your work completely changed my mind, i actually enjoy seeing them on my face and wearing lighter makeup to the point that fully concealing them doesn't feel like my face anymore... thank you Alex
For anyone that still wants to powder: the only way I‘ve found that looks natural and non-drying is to really work a setting powder (I use rare beauty) into a puff, until you can’t even see the product on the puff anymore. Then press and roll onto the skin. You get such a light coverage, but it really locks everything in without packing too much product onto the skin. 🥰
OMG YES! I love doing that! And if I find that it's still overly powdered, I just use a fluffy clean brush to wipe excess away. It's my favourite method at the moment!
I swear UA-cam was listening to my conversation 5 minutes ago. This is exactly what I need. Just found your channel and honestly, I have never been a makeup tutorial girl, but I really adore your channel. Something about the closeness of your face and natural look, even in your more "glam" videos, is just perfection!
Hi, I just came across your videos. Thank you for the helpful tips as well as showing how to apply. I'm 62 years old and have been battling dark circles for a long time. I noticed when I use primer the concealer does have better coverage. I look forward to viewing your newer videos. You are doing an excellent job by simply being you which is why you are my go-to woman in the UA-cam makeup world.
I pretty much gave up on under eye makeup, concealer, and general base because all of the info online was for full coverage and I was struggling to do natural stuff on my own. You are quickly becoming my favorite makeup youtuber because you not only show the fun stuff but also the realistic day to day stuff
I learn so much from your videos. I am getting married in October and don't have the budget for a make-up artist, so I am learning to do everything on my own. I can't thank you enough for everything your videos have taught me.
Thank you thank you thank you! This is so "mature eye" friendly! I have dark circles and it seems no matter what I do, when I try to conceal them I end up adding years to my face by accentuating the crepeyness and wrinkles. Any powder, no matter how hydrating they claim to be, is the worst under my eyes!
The best concealer for mature eyes Loreal True Match, eye cream. Comes in cool and warm colors, I love this stuff! It's light coverage. I put just a touch on, let it sit a min. then pat with a small puff. I'm on stage and it lasts and looks great!
I love a more natural healthy look. At 67, I have seldom worn foundations and heavy coverage products. I am going to search your channle for a face tint/bb cream or ? just to lightly even skin tone. Thanks for the great videos!
im so used to rushing my makeup and forgetting to actually think about what i do to actually achieve the looms i want - watching this really helped me pace myself with all my steps 😭
Thumbnail: a delicate blending brush on the undereye? Like and play!!!! Do I need this info being a MUA for 25 years? No. Do I need to watch her in action? I do. 🧛🏻♀️🖤
At 45 years old, I feel your under eye pain! After much research and experimenting with various products, I've learned cream based products are my jam. Setting my eyes just does not work any more and the Becca corrector is my holy grail. I don't use concealer under my eyes at all anymore because it just ages me tremendously. 😒 I love this minimalist technique on you, it looks beautiful! Thanks for the video. ❤️✌️
Hi Alex, thanks for this. If you have changed products or techniques since you made this please could you make an updated version so i can invest in the best products xx
I just want to say ho much I appreciate the close up application as a true Makeup Up Artist. I stopped watching so many "gurus" after they put the cameras so far back and used all these filters and bright lights!
This is exactly how I have been doing for some time now. Seeing the expert do the same is so validating ! Deep set eyes have such thin skin around that even a little product on gives a heavy look. Problem with most ultra light concealer formulas is that they are soo drying, making your eyes look twice as wrinkly! That’s why I have settled on pixi peach corrector, it’s creamy, dries powdery, retains the shine. So forgiving ! When I have enough time, I use liquid concealer too but just along the edges of hollow to feather everything in. In a face with deep set eyes, the depth feature is part of overall facial equilibrium, when the darkness is completely covered opaque, it takes away the distinctness. Something I realised quite late(hit 30 recently), the dark under eyes I was so conscious about, they just needed to be covered till the point they are not distracting, that’s all ! A better strategy is to highlight either the lips or the cheeks with a pop of colour, that totally balances the overall look. Sorry for long post. Thought it might help someone.
Oh can u elaborate on ur review on the pixi corrector? I was looking to buy it but most of the reviews i read were saying that it's very dry and difficult to get out of the pot👉👈
HEYYY great to see someone finally advocating the hallows technique cos i honestly never use concealer right underneath my waterlines, i think it ages people up and looks very unnatural :/// AND honestly color correcting is sO underrated.. i used to not be able to cover my undereyes with 3-4 layers and now i just use a little amount of peach toned corrector before my concealer and it looks literally perfect. Great video!! and it's reaally cool to see one of my inspirations with makeup using the same techniques as i do :')
Love this!!! I picked up the Becca under eye primer after a LONG time and am now embracing again my dark circles. I hate cake and I hate heavy; this look is perfection.
I've also always had dark circles under my eyes. When I'm not wearing make up I look like I got no sleep at all. When I do want to do a really light base I always have to apply concealer as well because there is such a stark difference in my skin and my under eyes. Your videos have really helped me feel so much more secure and comfortable in my natural skin and I don't feel like I need to cover them up all the time.
I am so grateful to have found you! I have had significant dark eyes since I’m a kid. I find myself having to wear full makeup every day because my under eye needs full coverage. This is the video that I needed 👏👏 thank you!
This look is really nice! I really appreciate how you've gone less and less heavy with the concealer. You've always looked lovely, but it's fun to see how you've embraced your natural beauty more (while also bettering your skin). Continuing with this more natural look, I'd love it if you could do a video or two on tinted moisturizers/sunscreens with your comments/reviews. (I personally struggle to find ANYTHING that doesnt pill!)
So glad that i found your channel❤️ I’ve been trying to accept my dark circles and blue veins since like 15 yo. Your videos make me feel more confident about my appearance. Sometimes i even go out without any concealer under my eyes, and that’s a big change✨
Bruhhh this is great. I’m only 27, but I’m already noticing the tiny tiny lines under my eyes. I used to be a full coverage concealer girl, but now I feel like it just looks heavy and extra wrinkly. This looks like you just woke up - in the absolute most stunning way possible - with a glowy natural skin. Damn. This is great! I guess light coverage is where it’s at!!
Words cannot describe my absolute love for your work and strategies as an artist! I relate SO heavily to your critical thinking, science and method in how you apply makeup. You're up there with Mary Greenwell, Lisa Eldridge and the rest of our legendary makeup artists. Because not only do you share your incredible skills, you encourage others to embrace themselves in their artistry and love of their own skin! ♥ (PS: If you're ever in London and pop by the Kryolan store, come say hello! 🥳)
Thank you for this tutorial. I followed these tips and l feel like for the first time ever my under eye area actually looked naturally flawless rather than blank, flat and overexposed.
I just wanna say that I’ve been watch your under eye concealer journey for a few years now and you never miss, you’ve put me on to more hydration in my skin care routine and I’m obsessed! THANK YOU ALEX!!
Very nice and sheer - it covers the pigmentation but still looks like skin. I use the same/similar technique (just with my current concealer and primer) - I've got very thin, translucent skin under my eyes, so I deal with purple discoloration and fine lines, and have to keep sheer coverage on that inner triangle-shaped half only, and not cake on powder. Nicely done video showing exactly how less is more!
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH AAHHH this tutorial WORKS !! i have dark circles that are so much darker than the rest of my skin and i really like light coverage. but for YEARS my makeup has looked gray under my eyes, and when i used color corrector it would blend in with the concealer and mess up the whole look. when i tried to use just concealer i would have to keep adding more because the gray would show through and it looked way too heavy compared to the rest of my face. plus i have a lot of undereye wrinkles so it was a whole mess. but this tutorial taught me that less is more and i tried it today and IVE NEVER BEEN HAPPIER, the makeup looks seamless and there is no grayness!! plus its so light coverage i feel like im wearing nothing !!! thank you soo much you literally gave me my confidence back
This is brilliant! I have maturing skin with fine lines and very dark circles, and it seems like no matter how light of a hand I use I still get creasing under my eyes. I’ve been really enjoying the LYS concealer as it is very lightweight and dewy.
Beautiful demonstration!!!! ♥️ i am 55 and have never worn make up, heee heee but i am seeing dark circles.... not happy...i have tried everything and i am making myself look like a clown!! Hopefully I can follow your demo! Thanks so much!❤
You look so stunning! 🔥🔥🔥 I've realized recently that natural eye "discoloration" can actually look really pretty and sexy. What bothers me is not the bit of darkness I have, but how my undereyes are a bit sunken in. It looks a little crypt-keepery rather than sexy and edgy. But I don't want to risk the side effects of under eye filler.
I just watched your original dark circles video and was kind of discouraged because I have sensory sensitivities and can't stand the feeling of full makeup coverage. I'm so glad I found this video after because it perfectly suits my preference for having that balanced skincare/makeup feel. Thank you so much!! This is so helpful, just... a lifesaver.
You are so beautiful and proof that you can have stunning skin even with dark circles! I am indian and around a light- medium complexion and my major skin concern are dark circles! Pretty good skin( no acne, smooth etc). However I am so paranoid about my dark circles if I dnt wear concealer but when I see others who have it, its looks so normal. I guess it's the 'you look tired' comment I have got ( when I am without concealer) that's made me so self conscious over the years! Loved this video!
@@AlexandraAnele thank you for replying! You're so kind!! Thank you for the tips- to overcome feeling conscious I have started lightly correcting and use a brightener ( to remove the peachiness) and set with a loose dusting of powder- it just takes the edge of the darkness but doesn't cover completely! Slowly reducing the coverage so i can just embrace them! thank you for this helpful video 🙂
WHEW, so glad I finally found someone who explained a better technique instead of just recommending a product and slapping it straight under the eyes. I feel like mine either come out too shiny without powder, or too cakey with it, so I’m def going to have to try this!
Light coverage and concealing dark circles is exactly what Im looking for. Im excited to try out the gripping product and the color correcter. I hate when theres a blue cast. Thanks for the tips.
Just tried this with similar products. Wow. I usually hate tacky primers but the hydro grip was so nice underneath the eyes. Instant improvement! Thank you Alex ❤
Thanks so much 🙏 4 this I need it..But u think u can do a drugstore version please🙏 I know u have one from 2 yrs ago but would like 2 know a drugstore version...love ur videos!!
LOVE this technique. I have deep set eyes + fine lines on my lower lids so this is basically my only option for under-eye concealer otherwise it just doesn't work. Seeing up close how you place the color corrector was super helpful. Just wondering what you think about using a product like the YSL Touche Éclat Concealer Pen - would you recommend or not?And if yes, any tips would be awesome!
I have deep set eyes and use YSL Touche Éclat pen in the shade medium. It’s a bit pricey but worth it imo. it’s the only product that really brightens up my under eye and corrects pigmentation all while looking completely natural. I combine with the YSL primer and it’s a dream 🥰
Yes! This is the technique I have been dying for. You’re the only person doing this on UA-cam. I have been putting less and less concealer under my eyes and I’m like this looks way better than before. Thank you for confirming what I was doing. You look beautiful ♥️🇨🇦
Keep up the dark circle video instructions.......MUCH appreciated and so challenging with SO many products out there.......your expertise with TECHNIQUE is what we need! Thanks.
i’ve been getting fine lines around my eyes as i’ve gotten older. i’ve started using the good molecules bakuchiol oil for dry skin around my eyes and on my face. it’s definitely helped more with the fine lines than any eye cream i’ve used. i put the oil in a roller ball for easier use.
You have had the best explanation about how to use corrector and concealer in the most efficient manner. I have used the hydrogrip under eye primer but wasn't hydrating my under eye area enough as you suggested. Thank you for the tips.
Omg u just made realise the reason soo many of the hyped up concealer dont work for me! It’s bcos of my creasy undereye! So now I’m sticking to Fenty Beauty undereye brightener and newly discovered NYX bare with me concealer. That’s so helpful. Appreciate it!
Thanks a lot for this video Alex, I’m living for this kind of content, less is more! Always loved playing with makeup, but the trends these past 10 years have been getting me confused about all the different products one needs to put on their face to achieve a decent result. As several other people commented, aging + powder can get difficult to work with. So grateful for your work! Also you have incredible skin and features! ❤️
Love your videos!! I've had aging crepey skin under my eyes for a while... so up until this point, your tutorials for concealing under eyes looked great on you but I couldn't match it on myself. You look LOVELY in this one. The tip about no powder and doing concealer last to minimize is super helpful to me, and I'll now be seeking out a color corrector in addition to my light moisturizing concealer.
Yes! As I'm getting older my natural lines have been getting worse with any concealer. Also my sleep schedule has been shit recently so more color correcting has made everything cake up This is what I needed, thanks
Omg this is such a gorgeous finish! I know every other comment I'm like "well I look like a drag queen half the time..." but sometimes in summer I like to go hiking and I'll do just Concealer so I don't look like I've been up all night for the inevitable "we made it to the top!" Selfie. This is such a good thing to have in my back pocket for such an occasion 👀
1:58 Idk if this’ll help because it helped me but when you apply powder under your eyes or anywhere that creases, I find it better to use a sponge. Gently place the sponge in the powder and then dab off excess on to your palm or something. You only wanted the smallest amount. Then lightly press the sponge in to the area you want to apply it on. I use a press and roll technique. I find this creates a nice natural matt look. I too had this issue when applying with a powder puff or brush. Also the sponge i used is the same as my foundation sponge. Make sure you have the loose powder separate from the tub it was in. This is to prevent your powder from being ruined if the sponge is too damp. It has to be the slightest bit damp that’s why. And I mean the SLIGHTEST. I use a setting spray to dampen my sponge. Probably like 2-3 sprays of the charlotte tilbury setting spray. Lmk if anyone tries the method! :D
THIS is a f**king game changer for me!! I have very dark undereyes, I only wear concealer, no foundation. And it always got cakey.... This video helped me sooooooo much! Thank you!!!!
I have mature under eye skin, so powder there just isn't part of my game. I really loved the close up here, and your advice is always so useful even though our skin type is different. This looks so natural, and I love it!
Can you try the new Huda beauty concealer pleaseeee and on one side can you bring the concealer all the way up for us to see. Though the way you do it looks the best but I just want to see for myself
Looks amazing! Thank you so much, I needed this - I too have dark, hollow, crease-y under eyes and anytime I use heavy coverage or add powder - it separates and creases! I prefer light coverage natural looking makeup anyway so I can’t wait to try this!
Hope this helps guys! You'll be seeing me using this technique in all my makeup looks going forward 🙌🏼❤
Thank you Alex! Really enjoyed the video... can you recommend more drugstore concealers to use for this technique?
EARRING INFO! Gorgeous! 😍Thank you😘
tissue proof makeup? like for your nose when you have allergies my nose makeup gets wiped right off
Can you do a video on your base in the video.? It looks so beautiful!
1. Moisturize
2. Apply under eye primer (a tiny amount)
3. Give it a couple of minutes to set
4. Apply under eye color corrector with a brush (because of the precision).
*she applies a tiny amount on the hollow parts and where she has the most darkness.
*she doesn't apply it all the way up to her eye because of the fine lines
5. Apply concealer with a brush
*patting with a brush in a downward motion
*use a really light hand
Thank you 😊 I was in a hurry
Thanks. One correction: She used the Milk Hydrogrip primer (a tiny amount) before the under eye primer which was a normal amount.
@@karaokelolawhy did she do that? What’s the benefit?
@@christinagrant3252i believe it just helps the makeup sit on her face better/prevents it from sinking too much into the creases!
Thanks!

Thanks for the tip! I use Jurlique Rose translucent powder is a fantastic product I use, provides a light dusting just enough to stop the shine.
Westman Atelier is a good choice for this, I've recently discovered.

I use the same/similar technique (just with my current concealer and primer) - I've got very thin, translucent skin under my eyes, so I deal with purple discoloration and fine lines, and have to keep sheer coverage on that inner triangle-shaped half only, and not cake on powder.
Nicely done video showing exactly how less is more!
please make one about concealing blemishes/spots with light coverage
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH AAHHH this tutorial WORKS !! i have dark circles that are so much darker than the rest of my skin and i really like light coverage. but for YEARS my makeup has looked gray under my eyes, and when i used color corrector it would blend in with the concealer and mess up the whole look. when i tried to use just concealer i would have to keep adding more because the gray would show through and it looked way too heavy compared to the rest of my face. plus i have a lot of undereye wrinkles so it was a whole mess. but this tutorial taught me that less is more and i tried it today and IVE NEVER BEEN HAPPIER, the makeup looks seamless and there is no grayness!! plus its so light coverage i feel like im wearing nothing !!! thank you soo much you literally gave me my confidence back
Finally a video that looks like she’s right in front of you and not filtering lights that give you a false idea of how the skin actually looks!
This is brilliant! I have maturing skin with fine lines and very dark circles, and it seems like no matter how light of a hand I use I still get creasing under my eyes. I’ve been really enjoying the LYS concealer as it is very lightweight and dewy.
Im happy because what i have been doing for concealing is exactly what you are telling us now, it’s like being approved 😆
I've been doing a similar technique recently and honestly it's so good. It doesn't look heavy but covers what it needs to cover. Just so good!
Definitely loving the light coverage myself these days. I can't remember when I last had on full coverage foundation.
I've realized recently that natural eye "discoloration" can actually look really pretty and sexy.
Dude I feel the same. We’re always so much harsher in ourselves, personally I’ve always loved they way they look on Indian people 😍
@@AlexandraAnele thank you for replying!
I’ve seen a few of your videos & appreciate how much you zooooom in! Subscribed ✅
At 32 I definitely cannot get away with the amount of coverage I used to without it looking gross and cakey. This is so helpful.
WHEW, so glad I finally found someone who explained a better technique instead of just recommending a product and slapping it straight under the eyes. I feel like mine either come out too shiny without powder, or too cakey with it, so I’m def going to have to try this!
As I watch some beauty channels, they almost always say its all about technique and not the product
Finally my undereyes won't be cakey anymoree 😂 Thanks for the video ❤️
Hope it helps! 🙌🏼❤️
Thank you Alex ❤
just when i considered going under eye concealer free, this vid pops up in my subscription box… perfect timing, thank you for the tips!!!
This helped me so much in my every day makeup routine. I stalk your youtube channel cause you're actually the only one that gives useful help
mannn those earrings matching your eyes GORGEOUS
Thanks.
Your camera quality is by far the best on UA-cam
i’ve been getting fine lines around my eyes as i’ve gotten older. i’ve started using the good molecules bakuchiol oil for dry skin around my eyes and on my face. it’s definitely helped more with the fine lines than any eye cream i’ve used. i put the oil in a roller ball for easier use.
I wanna see more like coverage stuff like this.
Thank you, yes more light coverage please 🤍🤍🙏🏼
This is so simple and brilliant. Plus, using the brush is much more gentle on the delicate skin around the eyes.
Subtle and beautiful. Much better than powder when wanting a lighter more natural look. You are brilliant!
Also my sleep schedule has been shit recently so more color correcting has made everything cake up
This is what I needed, thanks
wth that looks so natural! What a great technique
Your skin looks fantastic
Omg this is such a gorgeous finish! I know every other comment I'm like "well I look like a drag queen half the time..." but sometimes in summer I like to go hiking and I'll do just Concealer so I don't look like I've been up all night for the inevitable "we made it to the top!" Selfie. This is such a good thing to have in my back pocket for such an occasion 👀
This is the BEST video on under eye concealer!
what an incredibly pretty person. 🥺
So excited about this video!! Thank you so much! I've always preferred lighter coverage but naturally have dark under eyes. This helps so much!!
Beautifully balanced! Love your detailed and honest videos.
Thanks!
I recently found out about this method, and omg, it’s life changing! My extremely textured undereyes don’t look gross anymore!
Thanks Alex. Can you please show us how to cover Hyperpigmentation/Melasma without looking cakey. Thanks.
i’d also LOVE to see eye looks with little to no under eye coverage! i think it’d look so cool
Your skin is soooooo beautiful, so glowy. Such a gorgeous woman. Great job, I love how you apply make up so natural. ❤
I only say this because I have creases all in my undereyes and I would like to see how the product looks ❤️
This is so helpful! I’m old and wrinkled so a flawless finish is delusional. This type of technique makes a lot of sense.
Looks amazing! Thank you so much, I needed this - I too have dark, hollow, crease-y under eyes and anytime I use heavy coverage or add powder - it separates and creases! I prefer light coverage natural looking makeup anyway so I can’t wait to try this!
Woah! I didn't know you had already done your foundation until you said you had because it looked so natural! Love it!
Thank you so much for this Alex! My dark circles make me look and feel tired, but covering them looks worse 😬 This was so helpful!!
