• B.B. King - New York 1...
Finally identified!
A&R Studios, New York, NY, USA, 26 October 1971.
Full audio from the WPLJ broadcast is around online. At least three songs were filmed and edited into short clips.
This was filmed around the time that I met and interviewed B.B.- in Buffalo, for the entertainment magazine that my family was publishing at the time. Had the same lineup backing him. I was a teenager, learning to play the guitar, and I already owned some of B.B.'s albums. He was so friendly and "real", I was nervous, sitting in the presence of one of my guitar idols. I was afraid that I would say something stupid! When I saw the band onstage, I knew that this was exactly the type of band that I wanted to put together someday. R.I.P. Riley King.
In the previous studio version the VIOLINS were terrible
You. The man.
@@albertobarbera663 it was a different era. James Brown studio recordings sometimes had strings. Producers were trying to add elements they thought might make the music have broader appeal. Who knows, maybe those strings were the thing that made that song so popular because it was the beginning of his crossover appeal?
I get it though, I don’t care for them either. It’s kind of like the stuff John Hammond was doing with Aretha prior to 1967, it just didn’t work for me because it seemed to detract from the artist’s core talent. You couldn’t take Aretha away from gospel and R&B, but they tried. Why did they add strings to a band that already had a horn section? It added more content to the range of Lucile, but they did it.
I saw him at a festival in 2008 with my older brother and we were like we gotta see bb king before he dies. We get to the stage and he was laughing and smiling throwing pennies into the crowd then he picked up Lucille and said now I been hearing a lot of talk that bbs old and ain't going to be around much long...well I got something for them. Then he started shredding on Lucille and I remember my brother and I looking at each other like daaaaaamn.
C. XX yyyyyyyaa😢😢🎉🎉
This man knew some of the most powerful medicin.
Some days you think maybe the thrill has gone then you listen to this realise there is a bit left. Thank you BB
Я слушаю Би, чтобы чувствовать... Жизнь так быстротечна.. Би Би останется, это радует меня, спасибо автору за любовь к этому великому парню
I'm a confessed heavy metal fan. Went to see him when he played my home town, the best concert I've ever seen!
🫥

Metal is very “real” music, so is the blues. I love both as well
@@Yabuddy53metal is really real music??
Blues stumps metal
I thank God for having ears and being able to hear this before I die, thank you king greetings from Brazil.
I was thinking the same thing. Having the technology to bring this into your living room is precious, and should not be taken for granted either.
Burning up my last 6 percent on this 🎉
Well spent
You ain't heard BB until you seen BB!!...true story

One of the absolute legends of not only Blues but music in General. B.B. King may you eternally rest in peace 🙏.
Beat blues song of all time? Definitely one of my favourite songs of any genre

Here is the Lyrics: Source "LyricFind"
The thrill is gone
The thrill is gone away
The thrill is gone, baby
The thrill is gone away
You know you done me wrong, baby
And you'll be sorry someday
The thrill is gone
It's gone away from me
The thrill is gone, baby
The thrill is gone away from me
Although, I'll still live on
But so lonely I'll be
The thrill is gone
It's gone away for good
All the thrill is gone
Baby, it's gone away for good
Someday I know I'll be open-armed baby
Just like I know, I know I should
You know, I'm free, free now, baby
I'm free from your spell
Oh, free, free, free now, baby
I'm free from your spell
And now that it's all over
All that I can do is wish you well
T h i s thrill is eternal and so is B.B. May you rest a while, Mr King, and come again also in my next life. Love from Vienna, AUT, EU.
BB at the top of his game - his vocals amazing -bluesy and soulful
Only one BB King. Such an incredible musician and performer. I saw him in concert about 40 years ago at an outdoor venue, hot summer night by the lake. One of the greatest concerts I ever saw. RIP BB, you were a true master.
His best live Version!!!!!! Wow what a singer He was !!!! Amazing RIP B.B King of Blues
For me, the best, his guitar playing is full of soul
Absolutely beautiful. B.B. King's music is one of those things that even with complete lack of context can be so fully representative of the passion in the human spirit
Great guitar play but he is also one of the best singer in Blues and soul. He actually do not need to play guitar.
Best recording of this song i've heard. Slaps
Live in County Cook Jail though... ;)
Blues masterpiece. King and lucille is the best combination .
Dig that suit and tie. B.B. King was one of the greats. Original, in the moment, sublime.

I saw what must have been one the best blues bills ever at the Fillmore East - Bobby Blue Bland/Albert King/BB King - for real!
That sounds like a great line up. Was it as good as I think it was, in my head?
i listen this song in 2024
Me too. There are more instruments on the screen than in the speakers.
Эх, было время, вернуться туда, когда люди были людьми... И музыка от души и для души. Скучаю по тем временам, хотя родился в 84. Но то время ближе, чем сейчас...

B. B. King may be gone, but I do, certainly, know that the thrill has not.
I love this his young version !
The thrill is gone for good..😔
BB King was one of the first shows that I went to with just my friends. I was 16 years old and the show was at Hill auditorium in Ann Arbor MI. It was BB King and John Lee Hooker. It was amazing.
Thank you, thank you and thank you again for having posted this video. It's by far the best version of the Thrill is Gone I have heard. Pure bliss!
The greats are gone. BB, Howlin Wolf, Muddy Watersand Aretha! May they rest in Power.
Still got Buddy Guy
Buddy Guy is still alive and kickin though, can't forget him!

B B the man of the world….☮️🎶🔛🌎
No, he Peter Green.
This may be the best of BB’s Thrill Is Gones. But they’re all good.
BB is definitely the King.
I saw BB I wanna say ‘99. He had an extensive band and was a master of ceremonies as much as a player. Van and Tedeski Trucks have a similar set up with like a dozen musicians
My favorite blue guitarist. BB King phoemenal .
