Amy: The tack strip has a hole in each notched section. Position the staples to fall with one leg in the hole and the other to the side of the metal. When starting and stopping a piece you need to staple on both sides of each hole. As you get it anchored good, then start stapling one staple per hole only. Best of luck with your project!

I have a question. When you say staple, I do not see how you can staple into metal?
Do you always need welt when using? Can you do without welt or is it to abrasive to the material
