even crazier that they were almost anticipated and hyped like saints row, the callisto protocol, dying light 2 , halo and overwatch 2 . it sucks that im interested in some of them
I need to play BL1 but I've played and beaten 2 and 3. BL3 is where i gave up on the series. I LOVE the vehicles, parkour and gunplay of the game but the story is SO bad I couldn't get hyped. Handsome Jack is an iconic villain that can't be replaced and the humor became so juvenile and cringe constantly. BL2 is one of my all time favorite shooters. It was a looter shooter done right before exploitative mechanics ruined the genre.
I completely agree with regard to The Callisto Protocol. You really hit the nail on the head with what’s bad about the game. And, likewise, this was my most anticipated game of 2022. What we were delivered was some of the most generic and lazily designed gameplay out of any sci-fi horror in a long time
@@countof3everybodyODthe people who remade Dead Space did better than a team and director that worked on the original Dead Space. That's such an embarrassment and disappointment at the same time.

Joe, Callisto Protocol was only made by the Co-Creator of Dead Space. Everybody else was an extremely inexperienced team who was crunched to death because of Glen Schofield.
I'm honestly just hoping that some of the original DS team get on board with the potential trilogy remake and we get a version of DS3 that isn't a studio curse cast by EA (who seem to feed on the souls of beloved studios). Glen Schofield has good ideas, but the reason why the original Dead Space was great was due to their being a competent development team and another lead to actually put those ideas into an enjoyable gameplay format. I don't think the Callisto Protocol is bad, but it clearly shouldn't have been the first game on their list.
Honestly the Callisto Protocol and Dead Space Remake proved to me two things: 1.) Glen Schofield is like the Bob Kane of the video game industry. 2.) EA as a company has improved a lot since what happened literally a decade ago. People can hate EA all they want because of what they did to Visceral but EA themselves has admittedly improved a lot internally compared to where they were. I'm not saying I forgive EA for what they did to Visceral, but if EA as a company hasn't changed at all then the DS Remake literally wouldn't exist.
@@Justforvisit "I'm not saying I forgive EA for what they did to Visceral, but if EA as a company hasn't changed at all then the DS Remake literally wouldn't exist."

Probably not, someone suggested something similar in their January Q&A and Joe said that he does not want to dilute the formula so he will keep it at best worst and disappointing
@@mr.dingleberry4882 damn, thanks for the info. I didn't watch the Q&A so I wasn't aware. Also to the devs of such games it'd be nice that they'd get more recognition for outperforming what they were expected to achieve.

Honestly, I can't believe that Ghostwire is on here. It wasn't one of the best of 2022 but I thought it was pretty good! The empty, lifeless streets of Tokyo provided a chilling, creepy atmosphere and some of the enemies were pretty unnerving, especially the giant ladies with the scissors. Sure, there were some trash side missions, but a lot of the other side missions were really cool, and the game overall made excellent use of Japanese mythology and folklore through its side stories and enemy design, not to mention the game is just amazing to look at too. I've not had so much fun just being lost in Tokyo in any other game
Imo, it's fine on a disappointing list cuz for me, it sounded like Ghostwire just didn't give Joe what he wnated. Imo, it was a competently made first person shooter just absolutely oozing in atmosphere, but if you expected from tango to go more survival horror after the two TEW games, you'd definitely be disappointed. If you see it as a shooter action adventure like they advertised it as, imo it's excellent, solid shooting, atmosphere and immersion imo one of the top games ever, great characters, enemies and story (even though more enemy types definitely would've been appreciated) and I loved every minute I played. Imo, Joe and others fell into the pit of thinking since it was once a TEW sequel, that it'd go way harder on that front instead of being its own thing.
The Callisto Protocol really hurt as a survival horror fan due to all the potential it had. Instead of emphasizing it's horror aspects, it went the Dead Space 3 route where the action was more present than the scares, which just hurt the game significantly for me.
@@Skelath Yeah it's weird how few people who were responsible for a masterpiece like DS1 just shit out Callisto. Even if we compare 15 year old DS1 it just out shines Callisto in many ways. It gets boring when you see 10th head or leech monster jumping from a chest. What did DS1 do? It made 1 a fcking 1 jump scare when you used the bench. I don't think they used it again in any game after DS1. It's like DS1 was creating some unique while Callisto follows a formula.
16:42 - My friend and I collected almost every single loot luck dice in the game and we still got garbage loot. Even after beating the final boss with an insanely high loot luck, my friend got one single legendary item and I got none.
I was expecting Overwatch 2 and he did! As someone who played overwatch since 2017, it really feels awful to play without getting anything from it. Events arent satisfying anymore and the balance is god awful. Luckily season 3 seems promising. Remember, the reason Overwatch 2 exists is because of the PvE mode and story mode which is not here yet. It feels like a massive patch than a new game.
I remember being 13 years old and stumbling across his fable 3 review, got one helluva laught from the "THIS GAME MURDERED MY SON" bit and have been watching ever since
I was already extremely skeptical, but slightly hopeful, of the new Harry Potter game coming. This showcase of what WB did with Batman has made me lose all hope.
I'm really rooting for that new management they installed at 343i when Bonnie and others were ousted in September last year. First thing they did was ship that Winter Update which has been the best piece of post-launch content yet, and they made all the progression infinitely less grindy - you can do a whole week's worth of challenges in just 2 hours or so, mainly just by playing the game in whatever mode you choose. That Pierre guy, who is in charge now, is the dude who fixed the debacle that was the Master Chief Collection, and steered that project into the wonderful success it is today... so, with well warranted skepticism, my hope remains. Core gameplay is so good, I want to see it comeback in a big way
So to be realistic... Infinite's probably got about two more Seasons in it before they can it in favor of the upcoming Unreal Engine game. It's pretty clear and apparent that even with a new management team, actually updating Infinite is a problem. Even stuff like Forge and CGB don't work very well, and aren't performing well as player-retention tool. I get the feeling the store has seen a MASSIVE downward trend in player spending, and Microsoft probably wants them to cut the plug soon. Speaking on Core Gameplay... I just don't like it. It's still not where it needs to be. People make a joke about how most classic Halo fans, like myself, mostly just want a Halo 3.2 instead of something new. After seeing what Infinite brought to the table, I honestly feel that building off of Halo 3 and introducing new gameplay elements that WORK is the way forward. Infinite's issue is that it's trying to be appealing to everyone whilst simultaneously alienating the core audience. Weapon balance is awful. Movement is bad. Equipment varies between OP and borderline detrimental. I can't think of a single good map in the entire game. BTB sucks eggs. The sound design is too "clunky" in a bad way. All of these little things, little annoyances, add up to making me absolutely hate the game. 343 is clearly aware that Halo 3 is by far and away the most popular game in the MCC, seeing as it got the lion's share of content. A proper sequel to 3 that just cuts the crap and makes it feel like an evolution rather than a radical transformation is probably what Halo needs.
@@OKMBVideos Halo Infinite is much more a successor to Halo 3 than Reach, 4, or 5. H3 has always been my favorite too, and this does feel like the most modern take on it: the re emphasis on a reactive sandbox that is physics driven and features various equipment. I've played some Forge remakes of Rats Nest and Guardian and... yeah, they feel pretty great in this game. Forge has never been better, period. This is the best rendition of Forge, ever. I think you're justified to feel how you do about it, but I believe the general consensus on Infinite is that the gameplay is NOT the problem... most people would argue it is amongst the best feeling modern FPS titles out there. It was the 4th most played game on Xbox in 2022, although I believe it has struggled on Steam, often having numbers just barely above MCC. A lot of that sounds just a tad bit hyperbolic to me, I.e. the movement (which I think strikes a perfect balance between tradition and modern sensibilities) and "no good maps," but that doesn't make your opinion invalid by any means. I do not think Infinite itself is "switching engines." I don't think you can just copy paste the whole multiplayer into Unreal... but I don't think they're canning it either... from what I understand the Unreal efforts will go towards Project tatanka and future Halo games, not this platform that Pierre and co are supporting (with the help of outsourced studios, like the Halo vets at Certain Affinity). Season 3 (March 7) is oriented around a new equipment, a new weapon, new maps, and curated forge matchmaking playlists. They are also on the verge of launching a career mode, something the new head of live service has been prioritizing.
@@DeceivedHeretic Halo Infinite started 2022 with a LOT of problems, especially regarding the live service. While progression issues are largely resolved, the anemic rate of content rollout persisted throughout the year. Pretty sure that is why it is on the list. It's "most disappointing" games, not "worst games." Given the astronomically high hopes folks had for Infinite, especially after an overwhelmingly positive beta, the lack of content post-launch has felt particularly painful
@@arnotskywalker6366 yeah I understand that. I think it’s insaaaanely disappointing. But it did come out in 2021. And it was already on Joes lists on 2021s most disappointing AND best. Just confused why it’s on 2022 when it didn’t come out last year.

I remember watching one of the dev behind the scenes of Callisto Protocol and this one scene really stuck with me for some reason. Glen Schofield and a few other leads sitting in an office, testing the game. Among them Steve Papoutsis, the idiot who way back when was Executive Producer and General Manager at Visceral and all too eagerly destroyed Dead Space to please his EA overlords. Called DS2 "a rollercoaster everyone will love to ride" and then later called DS3 the "coolest, most badass one" yet. He's arguably the person responsible for the closure of Visceral and hundreds losing their jobs, because DS3 was such absolute dog shit. Seeing HIM of all people in yet another royally paid lead position 10 years later - or as a matter of fact anywhere near a new game instead of living on food stamps like the people buried under HIS corporate mismanagement - had me fuming and was the fattest red flag I saw in a long time. It seriously made me doubt Glen Schofield's sanity. Is that what the hiring process at Striking Distance was? Just fucking cronyism and good industry contacts instead of actual talent? One of them plays and kills a monster. "Ooh, you see, that one was pretty good" says Glen. And I'm like, you're telling me, this usually isn't that good? So yeah. These people knew. They miscalculated and made poor gameplay design choices based on ideas that admittedly sound pretty cool on paper, and were financed by an out of touch publisher on the other side of the planet who probably held little more than online meetings. And then nobody manned up to admit it and tell Krafton "Yo we're in trouble here, we need to do a rework of this thing's gameplay." Also, fuck Steve Papoutsis. And I'm just glad I personally saw it coming from half a mile. The game's stunningly beautiful, but so undercooked. Gotta have an eye for the little things and clues, folks!
One thing that's kinda funny about Callisto Protocol is that, in preparation for that and Deadspace Remake, I started playing Deadspace 1 and 2. And it _actually is pretty terrifying when you get forced into melee in those games!_ The problem is that... well... Callisto Protocol uses melee as a crutch. I think they wanted to channel that feeling of terror when you're forced into melee range. But the problem is, melee in Deadspace is terrifying because it's your last resort and you may not survive. It's not as scary when it's one of the only damn tools you have because the guns are worthless and enemies are spongy.
@@fluffywolfo3663 I think Callisto relied on melee in order to try and be different than Dead Space. The weapons and the controls felt very similar so they needed to do something to avoid making a Dead Space clone. It just didn't work. I really don't know what else they could have done though. The game felt like it needed weapons like the laser cutter and line launcher which of course they couldn't add. They couldn't keep adding ballistics weapons. They already had a pistol, an SMG, and 2 types of shotguns. It's like Dead Space got all the best weaponry and combat while Callisto got the left over scraps lol.
I disagree you on the point that Dead Space 3 was absolute dogshit. It was a bad horror game, but a fun action game. Callisto Protocol is a bad game, period.
Dead space: when the death scenes trigger you feel bad The Callisto Protocol; you wanna trigger the death scenes They put more money into graphics and animation in Callisto Protocol than focusing on the gameplay and fun factor which explains why it was a disappointment

How can Ghost Wire Tokyo be disappointing. It's not groundbreaking. But it still manages to feel like it has its own identity at least. In a sea of games that are same-y this one at least can't be mistaken for anything else. And exploring a haunted Tokyo is pretty cool.
I refuse to believe that anyone actually bought the marketing for Halo Infinite about how great the customization would be. After Halo 5 and MCC, it seemed pretty obvious to me that it not only would be shit but all behind paywalls.

It’s funny because right after you made your dragon ball breakers video they buffed the raider, playerbase dropped to below 100 total players and they announced the delay of season 2. Severs will probably be shut down by the end of the year. Shame because the game had potential but it’s completely dead before season 2 because of lack of balancing.
What's even worse about Halo Infinite is that now Battlefield 2042 has more concurrent players than it, and most of us know how bad Battlefield 2042 was
Overwatch 2's reception was so awful I am actually floored that anyone is giving Blizzard any more money. After blatantly reneging on what they promised to include in the came when people couldn't cancel their pre-orders and then refusing to give people their money back when they can't even get on the servers for launch day. What the hell is it going to take, Blizzard?!
I also just hate Blizzard as a company given the heinous history they have with their toxic, sexist attitude to their co workers. It’s disgusting. They’re never getting a penny from me.
The worst thing about gundam evolution is that if somebody leaves both teams will be kicked out after 5 minutes of loading time. Im a father. Every second of gaming time is precious.
Overwatch 2. They butchered the game's progression system, there is nothing to earn for free, and marked up the prices of micro-transactions by 400% all because they dropped a $40 box price.
I love and await these lists every year and they are very entertaining, but the common flaw has always been the editing with multiple mistakes in a single video and overall decrease in quality over the years i would seriously implore you to think about hiring a full time editor for the channel i think it would really improve the quality of the channel as a whole and give you more time to focus on more important things.
Underrated comment. I would also add better cameras, mainly on the skits, the quality is just slighter better if not the same from years ago.. but a full time editor I'd say would be paramount.
Why tiny tina, claptrap and torque worked so damn well in the regular games was because it was far inbetween, and the between bits had its own thing, the combat, the story while you progressed then the comedic relief from the characters being over the top. That made them funny and bareable, whenever they overdid any character from borderlands, instantly fucking annoying.
$10 for fucking BLUE!?!? And yeah, Wonderlands is my number 1 this year. My brother and I play every new Borderlands game for literally YEARS and we were over Wonderlands within a month.

No. There's too many idiotic memes. We don't need anymore.
Gotta say, not always the biggest fan of Alex's stuff but that was fucking hilarious.
I completely agree with regard to The Callisto Protocol. You really hit the nail on the head with what’s bad about the game. And, likewise, this was my most anticipated game of 2022. Love Angry Joe. The year truly doesn't feel like its over until we have Joe wrap it up for us.
I love him too, but why was Halo Infinite on here? It came out in 2021.
Honestly the Callisto Protocol and Dead Space Remake proved to me two things:
1.) Glen Schofield is like the Bob Kane of the video game industry.

Came here to say the same thing. That review intro is one of my all time favorites.
Yeh specially when it had a team filled with people that had 1 to 2 decades of experience with 10 to 20 other studios.

The new year never officially starts for me until I've seen these Angry Joe lists!
Neat. Glad to see you guys taking last year's feedback about the video format and do the old style again this year.
Why was Halo Infinite even on this list?

Yeah, the team had multiple people responsible for Dead Space.... just not the good ones lol
One thing that's kinda funny about Callisto Protocol is that, in preparation for that and Deadspace Remake, I started playing Deadspace 1 and 2. And it _actually is pretty terrifying when you get forced into melee in those games!_
The problem is that...
@@ChaseSchleich that makes perfect sense too.
I disagree you on the point that Dead Space 3 was absolute dogshit. It was a bad horror game, but a fun action game. Callisto Protocol is a bad game, period.
Dead space: when the death scenes trigger you feel bad
