This is a pretty great application! I'm just having trouble with the Audio Converter. For some reason I just can't make the app read the WAV files and it won't let me convert due to "Incompatible bits per sample." What should I do?
You'll have to download an audio compression tool like handbrake for example and compress your audio files, make sure they're not bigger than 3.3 MB. Smaller if you can. Also try to try a different WAV file to verify it's not just the one you're using
you probably don't need an answer to this anymore but this happens when you use the home button on anemone, you have to tap on the door (exit) icon on anemone after applying a theme, this closes the software and puts you in the power off screen, from here use the home button and you should be good
I made a 3ds Theme with Kame Editor, but when I tried to add it in Anemone, I boot up the system and it crashes everytime and I have to delete the extdata. How do I fix?
Whenever your 3ds crashes because of this you don't actually need to delete the extdata everytime. You just need to turn off the 3ds, remove the sdcard, then turn it on without it. Insert the sdcard while it's on, open anemone, then change your theme to the one that doesn't crashes your console. There's also the latest update of anemone v2.3.1 that addresses this issue of some themes crashing the console. If your anemone is outdated then try updating it. It might fix your problem.
I wanna ask, when I check my bgm on my 3ds, it doesn't fade in and fade out the song whenever you get a title popping up on your console, you know why this happened?

So quick question, everything works except my image isn't centers on the top or bottom and both are set to exactly 512x256 I have it set as a texture as well. Is there any reason for that?
The editing is strange for these for some reason. The image you want needs to be 400 x 240, then put into the top left of an image that is 512 x 256 total. There will be open space around the edge, but the theme should line up perfect or almost perfect. If you see that it has small gaps, try slowly extending your 400 x 240 image until it fits the whole screen. The same thing goes for the bottom screen, but at different sizes. Bottom screen your image needs to be 320 x 240 in the top left, with the whole thing being 512 x 256. This applies to the Single Frame type and not the scrolling image ones. I wish they were more straightforward about these requirements without having to hit the little info piece to show the examples.
@@BelowAverageGaming i don't know if this is what i did but i think it is. i put it into Audacity which is a audio editor and turned it into 16 bit. there are two different types of 16 bit and i tried both. one of them worked and it was called 16 bit PCM and then once you save it, delete all the extra stuff and just name it bgm like i later realized you said to do. and it will be in .wav format and then the kame editor converter will actually take it and not say error bits per sample too low+ other error messages. In the audio section under the audio convertor, instead of a play button, It's shows a triangle with an exclamation mark. When I hover over it, it says this "vgmstream-cli cannot be found. You will still be able to manage your theme's audio, but Kame Editor cannot preview them". Does anybody know how to fix this so that I can preview the audio and make sure everything is working properly? Also I can't choose more than one audio per session in the convertor. If I convert the bgm audio and then want to convert another audio to use for sound effects, it won't let me. It's stuck on the audio I selected for the bgm unless I shut down the application. sometimes, It wont even let me click on other things. Is Kame Editor this buggy for anybody else???
idk if you are gonna see this but i have done everything step by step and my audio just wont work, i did all the right things but the background music wont play. @@BelowAverageGaming I appreciate the attempt at assistance, but I figured it out. Only thing that pisses me off with Kame is that you have to guess the actual image dimensions. It doesn't just tell you how something should be cropped in your editor. You'll put an image scaled perfectly to 512x256, preview it in Kame, and like 1/3 of your image will be cropped to shit. Like just tell me how something should *actually* be positioned and scaled to perfectly fit my 3DS.

I have trimmed my .wav audio file to be 1.3 MB, and yet kame doesn't output any audio. All the while, no error message appears. Is there an unknown requirement I'm not meeting? Here's my .wav's information according to kame: sample rate: 44100 Hz channels: 2 stream total samples: 669506 (0:15.182 seconds) encoding: 8-bit unsigned PCM layout: interleave
Have you tried using a different audio conversion tool? gbatemp.net/threads/release-brstm-bcstm-conversion-tool-beta.378702/ Also are you making sure you're not going over the BGM limit of the application? There is a bar that tells you in the app

@@BelowAverageGamingbefore I tried your suggestion, I decided to test if the BGM and SFX files could still be read by my 3DS, and it seems that they do work. The audio player*, not the converter itself, on Kame may just be bugged for Mac users (or at least those running it with MacOS Ventura 13.4+) 3.) I need to edit the start time after selecting looping, since my BGM doesn't start right away and has a space of silence before looping the audio *Edit: I've messed around with Kame a bit more and I think I've gotten a better understanding of what I've gone through.

This applies to the Single Frame type and not the scrolling image ones. I wish they were more straightforward about these requirements without having to hit the little info piece to show the examples.
@@Bobistheone1 That did it! Thank you!
I found the issue with the audio, it tells me it's incompatible bits per sample, I'll find a converter, any suggestions?
Compression may work as well. Check out the tool handbrake
im having issues with something called bits per sample on the audio
Try using a free tool like handbreak to compress your audio. Or just try using a different sound/sound format
@@BelowAverageGaming thanks i got it figured out by some miracle and now i just need a microSD to SD adapter
Mind sharing what you did to fix it? In case others with the same issue read this comment
I explained the best that my technologically uneducated self could so i hope i could help.
@@BelowAverageGaming i got it on to the system today but the bottom picture is distorted and it doesnt play the music but rather the music from the last theme i had installed
The theme looks awesome!! Any way we can use it?
what happens if i dont wanna put in background music myself, cant the ninteondo do it itself with the songs that are already on there
Since this custom theme will take over your 3-D S if you don't put a soundtrack then you won't have a soundtrack, If I'm not mistaken though I believe your cursor sound effects and stuff will still work
Why whenever I add music and put it on my 3ds it doesn’t play??
You probably went over the sound limit. The app tells you if you did
@@BelowAverageGaming it didn’t tell me lol
@@BelowAverageGaming and I did about the same exact size even smaller then the person in video so
The person in the video is me lol
Did you try a different sound to see if it was an issue with just the one you're using?
anyways it says incompatible bits?
i've encountered a problem when trying to load my theme back into the kame editor, for some reason whenever i reopen my theme on the editor, the bgm is missing, after adding it back again and saving the theme it seems fine inside the folder, the bgm file is there, but when i load it back up again it won't show up.
does anybody know how to fix it?
i'm a little frustrated
the bgm file is under 3.3 megabytes btw, all the others work fine but the bgm seems to disappear
on the sound part the song dosen't start, I use the Mac version
Try using a different soundtrack Or compressing your audio
This happened to me too. Please somebody comment a solution
idk if you are gonna see this but i have done everything step by step and my audio just wont work, i did all the right things but the background music wont play. It steals the background music from a totally different theme i own(got off of themeplaza) and just wont use the audio i put in the kame editor. Is there a way to fix this?
Are you going over the bgm limit in the app?
@@BelowAverageGamingI don't think so? I've tried cutting up the song I wanna use and one that's even smaller in length but nothing helps, I'm going to try again today to see if I can find out what's going on🤔
My song never plays . I followed the instructions
did anyone face the issue of when export from kame it wasn't zip file? mine it only shown rc source type
This was the response from someone who had a similar issue as you that fixed it
"instead of saving it from save as, if i click deploy again theres another save button on the right and if i click that it saves it as a .zip"
what did you use to compress the music?
I actually didn't compress it, I just used music that was under one minute, but you can use the application handbreak to compress audio
my kame editor mont even boot up
Just came across an issue. I made a theme after "The Rumbling" from Attack on Titan, and it seems that the BGM music is conflicting with the BGM for my Plague Night theme that I already had on my 3DS. Upon trying to fix the issue by switching themes from the 3DS's theme menu, my 3DS crashes every time I open it. Any idea on how to fix this?
I don't think the themes can corrupt themselves like that? Can you still boot into godmode?
This might be some help for you as well
gbatemp.net/threads/home-menu-themes-broken-any-way-to-fix-this-other-than-a-backup.392827/
@@BelowAverageGaming I appreciate the attempt at assistance, but I figured it out. I accidentally made the BGM file size way too big, and the reason it crashed is because my 3DS had to process a file size 10 times it's normal size upon starting up. I was able to fix the crashing issue, and shortly after I fixed the BGM issue, and now it's a working theme with no crashing. Moral of the story: pay attention to the details 😂
I'm getting a wrong bits per sample error on BGM.
_"Incompatible bits per sample. The file you have chosen needs to have a bits per sample of 8 or 16."_
Try compressing your audio using a free tool like handbrake, Also make sure you're not reaching the bgm limit
@@BelowAverageGamingI'll check tomorrow, it's late where I am, thanks for replying. 👍
I'm actually editing an existing one to give it BGM since it didn't have any. The theme is a 30th Anniversary one and I'm adding this to it.

@@BelowAverageGamingBack, is there a way to trim BGM in the editor??
Nope, you'll have to use a 3rd party app
@@BelowAverageGaming I've managed to compress the WAV down to 3.05MB, is that small enough??
Only thing that pisses me off with Kame is that you have to guess the actual image dimensions. It doesn't just tell you how something should be cropped in your editor.
You'll put an image scaled perfectly to 512x256, preview it in Kame, and like 1/3 of your image will be cropped to shit.
Like just tell me how something should *actually* be positioned and scaled to perfectly fit my 3DS.
When i save my theme and put it into my 2ds it all loads up correctly exept the background music wont play and its the right format and stuff is there a way to fix it
Make sure you didn't go over the BGM limit in the application

@@BelowAverageGaming thanks anyways but i have already restored the problem! thanks though!
I have trimmed my .wav audio file to be 1.3 MB, and yet kame doesn't output any audio. All the while, no error message appears. Is there an unknown requirement I'm not meeting? Did I chose an unsupported encoding method? Is my file's sample rate too high or low?
Here's my .wav's information according to kame:
sample rate: 44100 Hz
channels: 2
stream total samples: 669506 (0:15.182 seconds)
encoding: 8-bit unsigned PCM
layout: interleave
Have you tried using a different audio conversion tool?
gbatemp.net/threads/release-brstm-bcstm-conversion-tool-beta.378702/
Also are you making sure you're not going over the BGM limit of the application? There is a bar that tells you in the app
@@BelowAverageGaming I tried the converter you linked, kame still doesn't output any audio :/
Also, the BGM bar you're talking about, are you referring to the SFX limit bar or the general 3MB limit for BCSTM files? Regardless, neither seem to be white like yours' in the video. Any other suggestions?
4 shits and giggles have you tried experimenting with other sound effects? Or perhaps the same effect but in a different file format like .wav?
@@BelowAverageGamingbefore I tried your suggestion, I decided to test if the BGM and SFX files could still be read by my 3DS, and it seems that they do work. So I've come to a couple of temporary conclusions:
1.)The alternate audio conversion tool you linked does work.
2.) The audio player*, not the converter itself, on Kame may just be bugged for Mac users (or at least those running it with MacOS Ventura 13.4+)
3.) I need to edit the start time after selecting looping, since my BGM doesn't start right away and has a space of silence before looping the audio
*Edit: I've messed around with Kame a bit more and I think I've gotten a better understanding of what I've gone through.
