Hey guys! No worries. This tutorial is still valid! But I have updated "DEM-Wiiflow-tools" which now runs on version 3.0! The tool is much better than the first one and fixes a known bug with the Sega Genesis tool as well as adding more support for PlayStation 1 games. Man what is going on with the influx of Wii's at thrift stores lately? I picked up a MINT MINT MINT condition unit with sensor bar, remote, all the cables and a steering wheel thing for $40 at Goodwill the other day and they had 2 more today. I've seen several come and go at that same Goodwill over the last few weeks.

@@BelowAverageGaming Unfortunately the author of that vidieo said the PS1 emulator wont allow the use of the wiimote as a lightgun, so your basically using the joystick to move the dot. Isn't there other emulators for arcade light gun cabinmates that can run on the wiiU?

It can, but the file locations on your SD card are going to be different and I can't speak as to downloading the wad. I heard downloading wii wads on a vwii would brick a system

If you'd like to use the hard drive, I'd recommend doing the previous video, but you can use the updated tools for renaming your retro-roms if you have any from this video

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!! This tutorial and use of tools answered a LOT of questions I had from my first go at using Wiiflow! I do need to ask an opinion- on the PS1- Metal Gear Solid- 2 discs, one .bin file and one .cue file for each disc. Would you recommend using the CD tool to combine al this or separate the folders for separate discs?
For multiple discs you should separate them and they should have (disc 1) and (disc 2) in the titles. If I'm not mistaken the PS1 emulator should be able to read the discs that way
@@BelowAverageGaming my apologies- I am just going through each step because I jacked up my plugins, etc on the first go around- i was reading each txt to ensure i followed instructions and I didn't change the tab back to the correct one in the notepad tabs.
I was able to add them all without issue! In your first Wiiflow video, I took it to heart when you said all files had to remain zipped. Well, now I know why Atari 2600/5200 roms were never read!! With that said, how would I know which files are to be zipped/unzipped? I ask because I am using Fuzzy remane technique on other retro systems.
Thank you very much, I am happy that it works. However when I close a emulated game (example NES games) it dosen't return to WiiFlow but instead shows a black screen which dosen't go away.
I put them in the right place, converted them to .wbfs files, but the Wiiflow just shows a big low pixel S and it says it doesnt find anything in the wbfs file. Any suggestions?
Hey! I have no idea if you’re gonna see this but my wii is unable to connect to my internet. How do I download the game covers from the wiiflow settings if wifi isn’t an option? I tried creating a hotspot with my phone and it wouldn’t connect to that either. Besides that, everything has worked perfectly so far! Thanks ^_^
I wanted to touch on a few things. My setup is a modifiied copy of the wiiflow masterpiece edition with the danimals theme I've modified myself and I personally have not had to convert mp3 to ogg that I can recall. I see you have one spot for n64 which is nice but I'm also assuming that means you're only using one out of the two best N64 emulators for the wii(not64 and wii64). This means you're missing out on a lot of compatible games that you could be running. When I did this I had a young nephew staying here a lot of the time so I added media center stuff to my wiiflow complete with boxart. I forget which wiimc version I used but it allows me to open movies that way fairly readily.(Granted the movie quality has to be low enough to allow the wii to play it correctly) One last thing is really a question. I see you have computer based games such as c64. Are you having to use a keyboard plugged into a usb port to play those? Lastly I wanted to thank you for making this tutorial and redoing those rename tools to help so many people. I wish I had these when I did my setup rather than manually renaming the boxart on my Chromebook.
Modifying the .ogg files may be unique to this setup, so I can't really speak to that. What I can say is that it works and you can actually create a whole entire playlist with that method. I'm not sure how long ago you did this method, but there's no need for having two spots for Nintendo 64 anymore. You can select a plug-in system from the main N64 spot and allow not64 and wii64 to either run at the same time or pick and choose. You just need to select or deselect the plug-in from the menu. I had no idea about a media center! That sounds sick so if you have any info on how that was done that would be cool The c64 you can use keyboard and mouse or you can use a mix of the wiimote/GameCube controller but performance will vary with the controllers
I followed this to a T and everything worked great. After a few days I went to add a new GC game and it never shows up. Am I missing something? I followed the steps again and though it would work but the game doesn't show in wiiflow.

One question I have is regarding when I add SNES games - everything is fine in terms of boxart and playing the game but when I click on the game preview it always plays the Metroid Item Fanfare music. Has anyone gotten this and if so is this intended? Can I turn it off or change it? Thanks in advance!
It is intended by who designed it to have that sound, glad the tools worked for you! That is a good question about changing that sound effect, I might look into that now!
Hey my friend. I'm back with an answer for you. Open up your SD card and type in "SNES.ogg" Find that file and delete it and the sound will turn off. Alternatively, using the hamster tool used at the end of this video, you could make a new sound effect as long as it's converted to the OGG format and named exactly the same as the original Happy modding!
Dear, I noticed one issue. Whenever I open WiiFlow from main Manu screen is balck and Wii remotes disconnect. When I open WiiFlow from homebrew channel it works. I reinstall WiiFlow but it did not help.
That means the wad you installed did not work. Go back into the wad manager and uninstall that wad and perhaps reinstall it. If not, install a different wad. Try blue circles instead of clouds as mentioned in the video
Im having the issue of when exiting some emulators, like the snes, the wii crashes, how to fix that? additionaly, no matter what i do, wiiflow doesn´t load any cover, besides the ones he downloaded from gamecube and wii
When using the DAT GENESIS Wiiflow Tool, when I type in yes, I get an error stating "Error in main: name 'list_genesis_games' is not defined. I'm only running into this issue with genesis and I'm not sure how to fix it.

This is awesome. I'm having trouble with Genesis function in DEM-Wiiflow-Tools. It looks like the first half of the code was deleted. The Python code starts at "main". I've tried redownloading, but its the same. I keep getting a list not defined error.
That is a weird one, I downloaded it and I'm not having a problem, but someone else did mention they were having a problem similar to you. I'll take a peek at the code and if I find something, I'll have it fixed and re-uploaded to GitHub by Saturday 🤙

Tried redownloading the set and I get the same error. My files are .bin inside of a .zip. Not sure if they should a different filetype inside the zip as every other system has worked from these scripts.
Thank you for this video, got everything up and running! I do have a side question, all my games work perfectly fine, but does anyone have an issue with GC games? Whenever I launch a GC game I can play with no issues, but I can't close out and return to WiiFlow. I have to manually shutdown my console and then startup WiiFlow again. If anyone has some advice I would appreciate it!
I followed your other wiiflow video this week and I can never get it to load Wii games. With USB loader GX I can load them from USB and SD. On wiiflow only GameCube games in the SD slot can be read. It will never load any Wii game. It shows them on the menu but never boots, always brings me back to the home screen. Using the same exact roms and settings USB loader GX works everytime. I would love to use wiiflow as its beautiful but currently is functionally useless for me. Edit: I've also tried every "fix" listed in the trouble shoot guide that I can across. And nothing fixes the issue.

@articex have you tried different versions of Wiiflow? There is Wiiflow lite and then there is Wiiflow. Curious to see if it's a problem with the application itself. The games are clearly being read but not booting. Weird.
I appreciate everything that you have done, your videos are so detailed and helpful. There’s one thing I can figure out, I try to go into wiiflow and the screen goes black then I go back to the home brew channel, any idea why? Any help would be awesome
@bkelsey1982 You should considering you have a forwarder that directs it to it. If you're not able to open it then that means the wad you installed is bad and you need to uninstall it through the wad manager. You can repeat the process where you installed the " clouds" wad. Try "blue circles" instead
That didn’t work but I did get a window that says blue circles has properties that can’t be copied to the new location, same with the cloud one, but I’ll go back through your video and see if I missed something

Hi, I had an issue when starting the games on the WiiFlow my screen turns black. If I leave a disc in the Wii it’ll boot that instead of the game from WiiFlow. All the software and cover art looks normal but I just can’t load the games, do you have an idea as to what the problem could be?

That wouldn't be an issue with the files, sounds like your SD card is faulty. Is this a brand new card? Either way I would try a different SD card if you have one
When I try to copy the apps and wiiflow folder to root of the SD card it prompts me to replace the apps folder already there. I notice it didn't give you the same prompt. I am using Mac - could this be why? Do you happen to know the workaround?
@@BelowAverageGaming the exact message is “A newer folder named apps already exists in this location. Do you want to merge or replace it with the older one you’re copying? Merge will combine the two folders, preserving all the new items” and then the options are Stop, Merge and Replace. If I click merge, I imagine it will just copy over the sub folder(s) from whatever is included in the new “apps” folder to the original one? Will that still work?
hey, my N64 titles don't wanna grab the coverart, I used the fuzzy rename tool but the only thing I think could be causing the issue is that I have mixed file extensions like .n64 or .z64. any ideas?
@@BelowAverageGaming my other games were in zip files so when it came to N64 games and they weren't zipped up, I didn't feel like changing it. Should I change all the games to one file type? The images renamed fine it's just Wii flow that doesn't wanna recognize them so I get blank covers.
That's because your game titles and your picture titles have to match The script is designed to read only .zip files for N64. So you're not going to get a good match unless you do. As for fuzzy, I can't speak to that since I don't use it
For some reason the games won't start , and i get redirected to the Wii home menu 🤷♂🤷♂ . They do work with Usb Loader . but i also can't run retro games
I have followed this tutorial to a Tee twice and cannot get the boxart to show up. I did notice that my boxart folder doesnt exist in the wiiflow folder, so i created it and the needed folders like they are set up in your video, but im not having any luck. Any suggestions??
If you do not have those folders by default then something went wrong when you were transferring your files. Either there was an error somewhere or a step was missed. I would delete what you have and start over to ensure all the proper folders are created

I found the error. I installed the rev 6 wiiflow plugins pack instead of the 2024. I must have gotten distracted when watching. Thank you again, ill try that and go from here!
Followed this exactly, but when I try to load into the WiiFlow application the WiiU freezes on a black screen (and the controller disconnects). I have the Cios updated and the patched ios80 installed. Not sure exactly sure how to try and fix it at the moment and I'm pretty tired, so I am turning here for any help or some advice :)
@@BelowAverageGaming Yeah! After loading the Wiiflow wad from the Wii menu or the homebrew menu it *immediately* hard crashes on a black screen and I'd have to unplug it to reset. I see u recommended that github post, I think I'll try troubleshooting it with the WiiFlow start configurer and try messing with the IOS/cIOS also idk if it means anything but ill add that the gamecube games I put on the SD card work amazing on Nintendont and that wad loads great haha

This may take like an hour since there are so many files. If I wanted to try again from scratch without waiting hours for 50,000+ small files to download, will this work without downloading all of the image files? I don’t really mind having blank titles before loading the game, as I really only plan to play 2-3 Wii games.
@Jason-gq1tr if you don't care to play retro games, you can skip almost all of the retro related stuff If I'm not mistaken, all you'd need is the Wiiflow application itself in that case. The plugins pack and snapshots and database is really all for the last half of the video

To try another version of wiiflow, could I just drop 5.5.3 on the root of my current sd card (as in with all of the stuff I’ve already downloaded from following this video)? Or do I have to start all over from scratch if I want to change to 5.5.3?
Most games are pretty playable on the emulators. But just like with everything there are a few that don't work. There might be a compatibility list for them
The minimum? Theoretically 8 GB probably. But if you're going to add games, there's no point in getting the minimum. I would go for the maximum or you won't be playing too many games

The Sega CD plays so much better in a CHD format plus it’s compression is very good

To my knowledge, CD image is only half necessary, it depends on the plug-in that you're using. For wiisxrx though I believe it is recommended

Wait for real, is it 128GB SD card? I mean the limitation of Wii SD card GB only allow 32GB, but 128GB SD card still work on wii?
As long as it's formatted to FAT32, You can do up to a 512gb SD card

How well do Wii games run off of an SD Card? Is it much different than running them off of a HDD?
It's about the same, My personal preference would be to put it on an HDD because it's made for that kind of storage/ read write

Modifying the .ogg files may be unique to this setup, so I can't really speak to that. What I can say is that it works and you can actually create a whole entire playlist with that method.
I'm not sure how long ago you did this method, but there's no need for having two spots for Nintendo 64 anymore. You can select a plug-in system from the main N64 spot and allow not64 and wii64 to either run at the same time or pick and choose. You just need to select or deselect the plug-in from the menu.
I had no idea about a media center! That sounds sick so if you have any info on how that was done that would be cool
The c64 you can use keyboard and mouse or you can use a mix of the wiimote/GameCube controller but performance will vary with the controllers

Would this weork on the vWii on Wii U? I have just modded my Wii U and want to do something like this on the Wii side of it.
I followed this to a T and everything worked great. After a few days I went to add a new GC game and it never shows up. Am I missing something? I followed the steps again and though it would work but the game doesn't show in wiiflow.

One question I have is regarding when I add SNES games - everything is fine in terms of boxart and playing the game but when I click on the game preview it always plays the Metroid Item Fanfare music. It is intended by who designed it to have that sound, glad the tools worked for you!

Hey my friend. I'm back with an answer for you.
Open up your SD card and type in "SNES.ogg"
Find that file and delete it and the sound will turn off.
Alternatively, using the hamster tool used at the end of this video, you could make a new sound effect as long as it's converted to the OGG format and named exactly the same as the original

Dear, I noticed one issue. Whenever I open WiiFlow from main Manu screen is balck and Wii remotes disconnect. When I open WiiFlow from homebrew channel it works. I reinstall WiiFlow but it did not help.
That means the wad you installed did not work.
Go back into the wad manager and uninstall that wad and perhaps reinstall it. If not, install a different wad. Try blue circles instead of clouds as mentioned in the video

When using the DAT GENESIS Wiiflow Tool, when I type in yes, I get an error stating "Error in main: name 'list_genesis_games' is not defined. I'm only running into this issue with genesis and I'm not sure how to fix it.
The Sega Genesis has a known bug that I had to fix, which I coincidentally just fixed about 15 minutes ago 🤙

This is awesome. I'm having trouble with Genesis function in DEM-Wiiflow-Tools. It looks like the first half of the code was deleted. The Python code starts at "main". I've tried redownloading, but its the same. I keep getting a list not defined error.
That is a weird one, I downloaded it and I'm not having a problem, but someone else did mention they were having a problem similar to you.

Make sure the .txt files are in the "plain text names" folder,

Tried redownloading the set and I get the same error. My files are .bin inside of a .zip. Not sure if they should a different filetype inside the zip as every other system has worked from these scripts.

Thank you for this video, got everything up and running! I do have a side question, all my games work perfectly fine, but does anyone have an issue with GC games? Whenever I launch a GC game I can play with no issues, but I can't close out and return to WiiFlow. I have to manually shutdown my console and then startup WiiFlow again. If anyone has some advice I would appreciate it!

I've heard micro sd cards with adapters don't work and you will need a regular sd card like sdhc and sdxc.

I formatted the SD with MPT and it didn't work. After I formatted it with Rufus, it worked
I followed your other wiiflow video this week and I can never get it to load Wii games. With USB loader GX I can load them from USB and SD. On wiiflow only GameCube games in the SD slot can be read. It will never load any Wii game. It shows them on the menu but never boots, always brings me back to the home screen. Using the same exact roms and settings USB loader GX works everytime. I would love to use wiiflow as its beautiful but currently is functionally useless for me.
Edit: I've also tried every "fix" listed in the trouble shoot guide that I can across. And nothing fixes the issue.
Dumb question, have you tried hitting the home button and reloading the cache?
That's what usually has to be done for games that aren't showing up

@articex have you tried different versions of Wiiflow? There is Wiiflow lite and then there is Wiiflow. Curious to see if it's a problem with the application itself. The games are clearly being read but not booting. Weird.

@bkelsey1982 You should considering you have a forwarder that directs it to it.
If you're not able to open it then that means the wad you installed is bad and you need to uninstall it through the wad manager.
You can repeat the process where you installed the " clouds" wad. Try "blue circles" instead

Hi, I had an issue when starting the games on the WiiFlow my screen turns black. If I leave a disc in the Wii it’ll boot that instead of the game from WiiFlow. All the software and cover art looks normal but I just can’t load the games, do you have an idea as to what the problem could be?
My guess is you need to do the CIOS installer.

That wouldn't be an issue with the files, sounds like your SD card is faulty. Is this a brand new card? Either way I would try a different SD card if you have one

When I try to copy the apps and wiiflow folder to root of the SD card it prompts me to replace the apps folder already there. I notice it didn't give you the same prompt. I am using Mac - could this be why? Do you happen to know the workaround?
It should be telling you what it wants to replace. What's the file it wants to replace?

Merge will combine the two folders, preserving all the new items” and then the options are Stop, Merge and Replace. If I click merge, I imagine it will just copy over the sub folder(s) from whatever is included in the new “apps” folder to the original one? Will that still work?

hey, my N64 titles don't wanna grab the coverart, I used the fuzzy rename tool but the only thing I think could be causing the issue is that I have mixed file extensions like .n64 or .z64. any ideas?
That's most likely why. Curious, why are you using fuzzy instead of dem wiiflow tools?
@@BelowAverageGaming my other games were in zip files so when it came to N64 games and they weren't zipped up, I didn't feel like changing it. Should I change all the games to one file type? The images renamed fine it's just Wii flow that doesn't wanna recognize them so I get blank covers.
That's because your game titles and your picture titles have to match
The script is designed to read only .zip files for N64. So you're not going to get a good match unless you do.
As for fuzzy, I can't speak to that since I don't use it

I have followed this tutorial to a Tee twice and cannot get the boxart to show up. I did notice that my boxart folder doesnt exist in the wiiflow folder, so i created it and the needed folders like they are set up in your video, but im not having any luck. Any suggestions??
If you do not have those folders by default then something went wrong when you were transferring your files.
Either there was an error somewhere or a step was missed.
I would delete what you have and start over to ensure all the proper folders are created

Followed this exactly, but when I try to load into the WiiFlow application the WiiU freezes on a black screen (and the controller disconnects). I have the Cios updated and the patched ios80 installed. Not sure exactly sure how to try and fix it at the moment and I'm pretty tired, so I am turning here for any help or some advice :)
Since I didn't do this on the Wii U I'm not sure about specifics, is it freezing when you load the wad?

@@BelowAverageGaming Yeah! After loading the Wiiflow wad from the Wii menu or the homebrew menu it *immediately* hard crashes on a black screen and I'd have to unplug it to reset. I see u recommended that github post, I think I'll try troubleshooting it with the WiiFlow start configurer and try messing with the IOS/cIOS

Creators cant legally suggest this due to copyright issues. A Quick google and you will find plenty of options!

If I'm not mistaken, all you'd need is the Wiiflow application itself in that case. The plugins pack and snapshots and database is really all for the last half of the video

Most games are pretty playable on the emulators. But just like with everything there are a few that don't work. There might be a compatibility list for them

The minimum? Theoretically 8 GB probably. But if you're going to add games, there's no point in getting the minimum. I would go for the maximum or you won't be playing too many games
